    • Given the amount of sex and violence in the shows and books, it makes no sense to me.

    • The books are peculiarly focused on the virginity of the female characters for the purposes of dynastic marriage. They are also full of female characters whose children are not sired by the man who has the legal right to do so, so I assume people are snoopy so they can try and metagame.

    30. Don’t care. It’s a different mesh. Different sleeves, different ways to fasten the dress, different garters, one has strings on the sides and the other one doesn’t. Much of what is in SL is real life inspired anyway.

    31. Um… okay. So Lelutka heads have a different UV mapping system. You need a face skin that’s made specifically for Lelutka Evo X or Lelutka Classic (they both use different UV maps, with the Classic being the standard that everyone uses and the Evo X being basically a new, HD version of mapping that makes stuff easier for creators to make things for) Stores that make face skins will have body skins specific for the body you’re wearing, or they will tell you what skin store has a body skin that is COMPATIBLE with your face skin. There’s also neck fades which most stores provide for free or for a small fee. Lelutka also has a discord for help issues, so rather than learning about the head and slamming it on VS, why not go ask the great customer service people that they have and learn about the product you bought.

    • Hi. OP of 3 here. For context we were meant to meet up IRL and take this off of SL, so it was nothing like you mentioned above although that does ring true for a lot of situations but not ours. Our relationship in total lasted nearly two years, so it wasn’t a quick relationship. I put a lot of time and effort into it, and they did to an extent. We spent a lot of time together and they expressed that they wanted to be together outside of SL and online, and if we clicked IRL we would then continue the relationship and even move in together. They expressed this numerous times, and came clean about some relationship altering (for some but I was able to look past it because I genuinely cared for them) “secrets” that nobody knew but me. They asked of me things I was hesitant on due to my own past experiences of rejection but they could not turn around and do the same thing in return, it gave me catfish vibes more than anything, because certain things added up and some other things did not, Also worth mentioning the lies for dramatic purposes and to cause a stir in the relationship got to be too much. I ended the relationship and a long Facebook post was made about wasting time and how I was this and that, I never spoke up about it publicly because I still respect and care about the person I was with, but I feel like their words didn’t match their actions. Rather that being due to low self esteem or maybe they talked a big game. I’m not sure. All I know is, I’m never doing LDR, and especially on SL ever again,

The vibes you are giving look like red flags. I wouldn’t trust sharing personal information with someone who likes to gossip; I can see why this person probably didn’t trust to take it further. I’m not validating anyone, but from where I’m sitting, you continue to call this person out for being guilty of things that might not be true in SL secrets, makes you seem like a big red flag and attention seeker. Spreading misinformation that people will use against this person seems like you are hurting and trying to hurt them by slandering their image while masking it as asking for validation. They probably dodged a bullet not giving you their personal information. Not everyone who hides personal information online is a catfish; some people who have been previously hurt or betrayed sometimes need more time to open up. In my relationship, we didn’t share private information until one year; we took our time getting to know each other, and it made me feel safer, It’s not for everyone, and my partner was patient enough with me to give me that time. It looks to me that you are reaching for excuses for reasons this person probably didn’t want to be with you. It could be as simple as they weren’t interested anymore and didn’t want it to go further or were dating someone else in RL; this happens a lot here; welcome to SL dating. 

  23. Some stores actually do a very good job with templates. Others just buy the latest full perm stuff, slap on the textures provided in the template kit, tint them into 100 colors and sell for like 99L.
    Nothing wrong with using templates if you can make the finished product look unique and high quality.

    • Totally agree. Texturing is quite a talent on its own. Most of the big brands hire people just for texturing. There are hundreds using templates but few that really are really successful doing it because there is 100% skill involved.

    • Like I commented a few weeks ago, I buy templates just for me to make stuff for me most of the time. I know some of the things I want I’d either never find because they’re niche fandoms or I would never want anyone to try to sell because I know it’s not their art, and I couldn’t feel morally right buying that from someone.

      • that’s not BOM hair wow. Its alpha texture hair MESH. They added a “hair/browbase” layer that has sliders set to cover the areas that alpha textures glitch at. Again, let me clarify, that is NOT BOM hair. The hair is a mesh object attachment. And you can do the same with ANY hair by editing the sliders under style tab of your eyebrow using

        So yes keep going with it. The one and ONLY BOM hair is the ruth hair that is within same layer using for brow shaping which gasps is exactly what’s in the Aii hair package and you can wear the hair mesh only with zero difference without any of the other items included. But glad to see you are so gullible and lack of basic creator/build knowledge just jump right on that wagon

  28. #58 How about people just open up more high quality stores for Men to shop at period. There are Men who like to dress themselves too and have Linden to spend like my SL partner he spends most of his lindens on me because there are VERY few places that are of good quality and rigging for him. He buys a top he likes it clips with 98% of every pair of pants he owns and has to buy new ones from that creator and vice versa. It limits his mix and matching options.

    Also, as a woman and not to be anti-anything but a lot of Men’s clothing is very flamboyant, unattractive, or thuggish and not for my man’s tastes and styles there needs to be more variety. He is not afraid to spend the linden on clothes, he spends more money on tatto’s from Dappa and Corazon and new Jewlery than he does clothes, almost.

    • He could always learn how to create and open up his own shop. Every content creator I’ve ever heard from in SL has said that compared to clothing rigged for women’s bodies, content rigged for men is a dead loss. Especially generic clothing that is rigidly gender conforming. Masculine-presenting people just don’t buy enough clothes to make it worth their while.

      • Except as being in Upper Management he works 60 + hours a week in RL and our family time in rl makes time online together limited so that is not an option. There are more men than you realize who might want to spend some linden on clothing. Not everyone wants to wear the same pair of jeans, no shirt and the same pair of shoes.

      • You’re not reading what Blaise said. Yes, I’m sure we all know a few men who really want a more extensive wardrobe- I certainly do- but over the greater SL population, most people using male avatars are perfectly happy to wear the same outfit or few outfits pretty much ad infinitum, and rarely shop at all unless prodded by a partner. If it’s not worth the time and effort to make, creators aren’t going to do it. The only way to get more creators making things for men is for men to keep consistently spending more money on themselves, but as we know it can be hard finding things they want to buy, and then we end up right back here. All he can do is look harder, spend more, and spread the word about good creators of male body things so that others also go and buy that stuff- which means he can’t be childishly stressing out about other people wearing his same outfit. Even if he buys every release, he’s still only one customer, a drop in the bucket compared to the time and effort required to create and texture original meshes. Create a market, and it will be serviced.

      • Not everyone of them is Upper Management. And I say this as someone that works in tech and earns over 100k a year. I’ve been sl partnered to an engineer and to an rl VP of a bank. They never spent more than 40 dollars a year in SL.

        A brand in SL works on mesh not for hobby, mesh is a much more difficult system to work with than sculpts/ sl prims. They usually are already in the creative field, or have mesh experience. Some even create in other games as well. They aren’t going to waste their time to make toward men that budget their sl income much more closely than females.

        Ask your partner, how much he’s willing to spend in a year for SL clothing. Most often than not, it is not going to be more than 100 bucks. That’s not profitable. Stores need him to put forth about 20 bucks a month. And unfortunately, most guys do not spend that much, and if they do they go for land and other things within SL.

      • If you are working +60 hours a week in a upper management rl job. Second life is an afterthought.

      • If most of what I see at events wasn’t geared towards Team Rainbow or Thug Life, I’d buy a hell of a lot more than I do. And I have 100+ some saved outfits at the moment.

    • So a little comment here: I own over 300k in inventory and I am a woman, but the majority of pants/skirts/tops/jackets clip with items that are not from that store. And sometimes, even items from that store clip. That’s not a men only problem. That is a problem with the SL rigging process in general.

      Now, here’s the kicker here which you fail to understand. Content creators do not make clothes for the most part just to spend hours on end on a hubby that doesn’t at least break somewhat even in their time spent. The vast majority of SL men, do not shop. I’ve gone to countless sims, and I look at them. They buy three outfits one year, and that outfit is used for three years. Why would a creator make something if they are literally going to make maybe 20 bucks a month at most?

      Men whine, and yet for the most part only a fraction of the male population spends in clothing. I’ve met countless sl men in sl, and the vast majority (95%) as I’ve owned clubs, and a sim. I can tell you that they rarely change their outfits. So what’s the point of a creator making for them if they themselves are always in 1 Deadwool suit, or one Deadwool shirt for a full year?

        Meaning, yes- once we got our basics, we’re good for a few years. That’s also just common sense.
        We still pay for it though.
        Facit: until designers learn what we actually want, as boring we might be (and not what they think we want-  big difference) – and learn to make it in the same quality that Masa Plympton steadily delivers, we bring our coin to Deadwool, very happily.

      • “Bloggers” weren’t even a thing back when I first started creating. Us creators got on just fine without them. I still think they’re just wannabes who want some kind of popularity without actually having talent, and leeching free items of course.

      • They are completely unnecessary. Any creator who has a Flickr account they keep up to date with their new releases and info doesn’t need one, interested people can just follow that. I bet anything the return on investment based on the regular price of the things they give away doesn’t come out ahead.

Well my friends walked away after Nightwolf Ravnos constantly tracked them down and stopped them doing anything in SL. I have been attacked and even killed by Nightwolf, in bed, and was told it was part of the game. Not being able to even go to a shopping event with friends without being jumped and being forced to TP out. It got too much.

      I was sick of it so, I too joined the growing collection of dead Vampires. At least I can now enjoy SL, even if I am constantly annoyed by people who want to revive my victimness.

The owner who is opening a new store never wanted that to happen and would have preferred to leave Salem up or give their customers a longer notice to be able to purchase things before closing, but due to the other owner demanding everything be taken down immediately, this was not feasible.

You really thought all this was for free?       • Did you read what I said at all? I did not say it’s free, lmao. MOST people do not pay monthly fees for the programs that they are using, they pay the one time or annual fee which works out cheaper. If they are paying a monthly fee, even if they have to, they are getting ripped off-which is why it’s the least used option for nearly all programs. The vast majority of creators just don’t use the monthly subscriptions for things like this, especially when it’s the foundation for their business. Some start off that way, when they’re testing the waters to see if the program works for them.

        Less and less people are using photoshop because the alternatives are at least as good, cheaper, and often times easier for people who have never used such programs before (adobe is a ripoff in general and they know it, it’s been going downhill for years because of that). The same can be said for other programs too. As people learn, they realize some of those programs are unnecessary, and the fees were a waste of money. Yes, I do know exactly what I’m talking about, clearly reading comprehension is not your forte.

      • “They” always have the same shape basically for their characters as well. Has to be super tall, with the same basic nose and face, maybe a different skin. They do have skills at drawing and texture editing, and a few other things, I will give them that, but all of the drama that comes with it, isn’t worth it most times.

      Yes there are rumors as to why they shut down and drama about how they shut down and everyone has an opinion as to how it should have went down because of course they do.

      But it’s better to just say that they are no longer working together and each one of them are set to go off and do their own stores respectively, it happens all the time.

    • Salem was a partnership of two people. One party decided to quit and demanded all products be removed immediately. The other owner tried to convince them to keep it open to generate passive income, but the quitting party was adamant that they did not want anything from Salem sold, and so it was taken down.

      The owner who did not quit is in the process of opening up her own store that will cater to the same audience.

    The creator does create original mesh but also uses templates to supplement between her original releases. The store is also broken down with an “ORIGINALS” section. So, it is no secret that the store has original creations and some that are not.
