    • Depending on what you make and how successful you are, 20 cents adds up, especially in a seeking format with minimal capital in terms of production. Some designers in SL make livings off their profits to the point that it would pay more than working for a game studio (especially in the job climate surrounding AAA studios right now).

      This isn’t necessarily true for all creators of course, but you can’t deny the reality that SL can actually be a serious job for some based on income.

      Also defending your own copyright on your designs (if you go as far as copyrighting them) means zero tolerance for people ripping your stuff off. In many cases you have to pursue it in order to maintain it.

      I worked as an escort there at Bishes a few years ago, but only for 1 week. I had a RL family member land in intensive care after a heart attack 1 week after I was hired, and SL took a back burner so I could be at their side… I am glad I took that time cause that family member ended up passing away in intensive care.

      I told one of the Managers that I had a family emergency and needed to take time away from the club and SL the day the family member landed in the hospital, when I got back 2 weeks later, Juicy had fired me.

      Guess she doesn’t like being nice and keeping someone who she knows would have went right back to work after coming back.

    • You assume to much, one of my dearest and closest friends was born in Yemen, he’s a devout Muslim, and one of the most genuine people you would ever meet. When he was going for his citizenship, I offered him any help I could, including sponsoring him if it was an option. My family also has a history of helping immigrants, for a few years we shared our home with a father and son who were seeking asylum from the conflict in Moldova at the time. We welcomed them as part of the family, and I spend a lot time trying to help the son get familiar with our language and culture, and just being a good friend. They both are amazing people, and I loved the time we had when they were in our home, and I consider both of them close and dear friends. I loved learning about all of their culture, and I honestly think a lot more people can benefit from seeing another perspective. I have always been a strong supporter of immigrants coming to my country (USA). I know if I had a family that was in a hostile country, I would do all I could to give them a better life. So I’m not sure if your comment was directed to me, or smdh, but like I said, you assume to much.

    • You obviously have no idea how venues work on SL. Have you ever seen some of the tips that DJs get at clubs like FMD? do those Djs, hosts, or you as a patron, ever bother tipping the venue that provides all that? On very rare occasions.

      This is not just an FMD issue. If patrons don’t appreciate the venues that offer them that entertainment then the DJs and hosts should. Don’t be greedy with the money you make. Appreciate the venues that earned you that money.
      if i was a DJ who just made 5K of tips i shouldn’t have a problem tipping the venue 500 lindens. If the DJ or host have an issue with that then they just greedy af and shouldn’t be given that opportunity in the first place.

    • I have been a DJ in SL for many years and it is pretty much standard for a club to take 10%. One or two venues I worked at took 20% and a small few took nothing. I don’t mind when the venue gets 10% so long as they provide a following as well. It’s like a “you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours” sort of deal. If I make L$10,000 the venue made L$1,000 off of my set. I’m not pressed about it lol.
