    • What scale? And what part of SL is built on that scale? Just curious.

      • A lot of modern furniture is built to more realistic heights, so modern clubs also cater to this. In most sims I’ve been around you kinda were the odd one out if the avatar was taller than 2,5m. And what I’ve noticed, a lot of the popular mesh bodies can’t even get that tall, especially not the female ones.

      • “To scale” is a precise measurement, where one increment is exactly equal to another. I was asking if op just thought that sounded like a good thing to say, or if they actually know what that means and SL starter avis qualify. They don’t; it was a completely meaningless statement and I’m not surprised they didn’t admit it.

        Modern SL is the only part I have any interest in, and all the furniture I use is up to date. Some of it is smaller than it used to be, but none of it is small enough to make a woman who is 5ft tall on her sliders look the same size she would next to it in rl. I’m not arguing for “tall”, only adult proportions. My avi is short- but would never be mistaken for underage by anyone. It’s very possible.

      • I think you need to go and look at all the heights that SL makes their default avatars. I think only 1 is under 6ft tall. The reason why you see small avatars is because they are placing their RL height into SL and they have never been equal to each other. If you make your avatar 5’3 in world, it’s going to look like it’s 4’10”. My avatar I think is 6.2 but that equates to around 5’9″ which is how tall I am in RL.

    The staff at Cocoon (or whatever they rebranded as now) are abusive towards players who want to be more creative.
    The owner IP logs people so there’s no privacy for those who like alts.
    The system they run is pretty much just an automated RPG meaning you don’t actually have to RP with people to get anywhere using their hud. Everything is down to purchasing the best weapons and best stat upgrades on the hud.
    Staff encourage cliques and push people away who try to actually pursue RP that isn’t just “cops bad, gangs good, blow up robots”.
    Trying to get anywhere as a regular player without kissing the asses of staff is impossible, and they will make damn sure that unless you’re part of one of their handful of approved factions, you have no chance.

    • I’m the OP and that clears some stuff up a good bit. I honestly liked the way their HUD was set up with character creation from what I’ve seen, but I’ve heard stuff about inworld questing and dailies that I never really understood.

      I don’t mind the idea of a more TTRPG/RPG format, but it should involve other players primarily not just go off and do shit on your own. I’ve lurked around for awhile looking at the sim and it seems pretty active but every single time without fail I’ll ask about…someone has had an unpleasant experience. And the people always seem really reasonable not just jaded because banned for legitimately bad behaviour.

      From the sound of it, many of those experiences were probably to do with limitations on creativity. Are the weapons purchased with Lindens or an ingame currency or something? Is the HUD required to play?

      Also the rebranded name is so fucking bad….
      And why is it 24XX when they have a specific year of 2492???

      • The hud is required, and the weapons (if they haven’t changed it – and I doubt they have) can be purchased with credits that are earned either by doing dailies (that is, blowing up robots/mutants, being part of a faction, having an IC job) or by paying for the credits directly. It doesn’t even count as TTRPG, with it playing out more like an endgame MMO with no quests left to do.

    • Honestly that sounds like every RP sim these days. I’m pretty sure most of them have IP tracking, if their HUD or system requires you to visit/log in to their own website, I would assume they do. You can never know but most SL sim owners are a special kind of crazy and it’s pretty commonplace.

      And every active RP sim has a MMO-esque grindy, awful XP system and HUD. Every RP sim without one, has either become inactive, or has jumped on the bandwagon. I don’t understand why. It takes away from actual RP and isn’t fun, if people want to play MMOs, why don’t they log off SL and go play MMOs?

      • I’m honestly surprised there isn’t some rule against IP Tracking in SL without giving warning/alerting of the fact.

        I don’t mind the use of a HUD in RP sims and think it can add more depth if the system is done right. But it depends on how this is done, and most end up seeming really hastily thrown together because, as you said, it was probably just jumping onto that bandwagon.

        RP HUDs have the potential to add interesting additions to RP through things like health, fighting with use of actual stats or trading. More standardized stats through a HUD also eliminate the need for shitty applications and make avoiding overpowered characters a bit easier I think.

        But grinding privately in a corner for shit or doing solo quests against an NPC isn’t that. Neither are most of the XP systems I see frequently used.

I make a point of going through newbie regions with non-loudboxed teleport effects and little music boxes and other trinkets I’ve made and yep, lots of fun. So long as it’s not that one particular “popular” blob of regions with a ton of skybots that will ban you for spectacularly little reason.

But after two bans, one of which was “teleported in at the same time as someone they didn’t like” and the other was “someone with a music player teleported to my location and the lagged-out, vendor-packed hell of a region meant that person couldn’t immediately stop the music”, I’ve not been back since and I’ve no desire to go there again.

  26. I never had anything against Maria de Lourdes but since she posted that she was starting some research on how to open an animal shelter that felt very odd. I knew it would sound bad after the event and the money donated so, I guess would be better for her to come clean at this point. That amount of dollars is A LOT in argentinian pesos, just look for it. It’s a shame, I’m not sure how i feel about it tbh, would she be that naive and made an fundraiser event without even researching how or the obligations to it? I’m sure it can be considered scam and a fraud. If she really didn’t do it on purpose would be better if she stops creating more drama and be real. Wouldn’t be the first time someone asks for donations to fake causes. I feel even worse because alot of Latinos already have an awful reputation in second life this makes it even worse.       • This is purely speculation on my part, but couldn’t the information and screenshots be turned over to LL so they can at least take a look at the accounts and locations involved? I know the general rule of thumb for Linden involvement off SL is usually ‘not in our sandbox, not our problem’, but I do know exceptions are made in extreme cases (and LL comes down hard on ageplay).

        If you or someone else has already done this, then disregard this in totality; but if not, someone really should offer the information to LL to put a stop to this sort of thing. There’s not an awful lot we can do here other than spread the knowledge of how disgusting it is.

    REFUND ALL OF THE DESIGNERS. It’s simple as that. If you can’t withdraw the money (because that’s now her excuse) Return it!

    Maria, you said you will NOT be giving the money to any of the shelters per what you advertised. You have screen shots of you saying you’re going to take the money from a charity and TAKING IT to use for YOURSELF. That is theft.

    Someone help please report this situation and her to LL, the more they’re aware of this situation the more the will fix it. I’m tired of her scamming.     • I dont know LuLuB but Ive bought their stuff sometimes and I just wanted to see things on my own to see before jumping to conclusionsso I went to their FB page and joined the Disc server and looked at the raffle stream on FB.

      All the screenshots in the memes were taken out of context. If you join the Discord and read the channels you’ll see that she is being transparent about everything and that there wasn’t mention of seriously starting a shelter with the money that was donated, that it is going to a legit animal rescue. The money hasn’t cleared LL yet and is still in the account so its not like she has stolen anything at all as you can’t steal money that you don’t even have. She keeps giving updates and seems to be very active with keeping people informed.

      Theres nothing in the Discord server at all about her going on vacation except something about camping to relax after the event and it seems shes still here and has been for the whole time so I’m not sure where that’s come from, she’s not disappeared and cut and run.

      Alot of this sounds like salt for some reason and people should just look at everything for themselves to make their minds up. If she follows through and puts up the charity donation recepits as proof, then itll all be fine so I’m not making this a witch hunt unless there are never any donation receipts.

      Also: most people’s natural waists are in fact up much higher than many people think? Everything that’s labelled “high-waisted” is literally just at the actual natural waist.

      And also: every body has its own relationship to the sliders. Maitreya and Legacy have a fairly close relationship to the default SL sliders, and they don’t take much work to look the way you want them too if you’re starting from an older shape (or switching from one to the other). Reborn is thick on the bottom. The deformers help with that a lot, but if you’ve never used a body like it, you need to throw out everything you think you know about shapes. It took a lot of experimenting before I was comfortable in Reborn and felt like myself.

      • First time I demo’ed the Reborn, I didn’t like it, but then, I didn’t spend enough time playing with sliders to adjust my shape to work with the mesh. I eventually broke down and bought the body anyway and now I love it. I haven’t touched my Maitreya body in over two years and I keep the legacy now as a back up body if an outfit I wanna wear doesn’t have a reborn option.
        I even managed to make my reborn shape a close enough match to my shape I had built for my legacy body. Now if only the rigging would allow me to sneak legacy clothing on it. *lol*
