  6. #24. You only have a vague understanding of how SL content creation works. A lot of 3D models are not made by SL content creators. Some are bought from third party marketplaces where people can buy and sell 3D models like Sketchfab and Turbosquid. Just because something doesn’t exist as a full perm product somewhere on SL doesn’t mean that it’s an original creation. Unless you’re a modeler or involved in video game development and you’re immersed enough in that field of work to recognize this type of content, you’ll never be able to truly tell which SL content creators make their own stuff, and which ones just resell other people’s work.

    • Right? It’s crazy to me just how toxic SL has became!

      I literally cannot do anything anymore, it isn’t fun. Roleplay is mediocre at best. Plagued by all the “family sims” that cry when you actually give them roleplay – or just so unrealistic it stresses you out.

      All meanwhile, at those called sims are just constant people trying to get a date. Fuck the stories or the creativity anymore. Literally every single community is exact same copy/paste prefab/premade structures. They lack actual skill to build anything original.

      Constantly stabbing each and everyone in the bad, just to run off to their next flavor of the week.

      On the off chance you actually do visit on of these sims… You look around to see literally everyone in their houses with their “privacy settings” on as well as ban lines or security orbs. (Lol).

      Or on the latter, just standing around pretending to be AFK or actually AFK for days (Why log in then?)

      It has definitely changed, it’s really damn sad. Though it’s time to move on.

    This is how business works in FL and in SL.

    As to your RL example: To put it simply… China mass produces things and then sells them in bulk. In many cases it’s not possible for you to buy just one of those items. You need to buy them in large lots and, if you could buy just one, it would cost you a small fortune to ship it. So… in steps your “middle man”, the retailer. The retailer pays for the items in bulk, the shipping, the importation of the items, etc… and then applies a markup to cover all of those costs and to make a profit and that person or company can then sell you just one of those items. The labelling is often part of the wholesaler contract with the manufacturer and these companies are legally allowed to do it. Is that right? That’s another question but welcome to capitalism. You just need to shop around before buying that “name-brand” item.

    In SL… there are MANY creators who do not make mesh, they don’t know how and/or they don’t want to learn, but still like to make and sell things and are VERY good at texturing, decorating and putting things together. Those people can buy the full perm meshes (which are often very expensive), retexture them or combine them with other FP meshes and re-sell them as a new product. They buy those full perm meshes at a higher cost with the intention of reselling it and making a profit. For example, one creator sells a FP butterfly, another sells a FP picture frame. Someone buys both pieces, puts them together, and then sells a butterfly picture frame. This is fine, perfectly legal and LOTS of businesses in SL do this. Shop & Hop and other events are FILLED with these stores. Right click stuff, edit linked parts and you will see the same names over and over again in many cases. If you want to buy the FP meshes yourself… go for it! BUT you’re probably going to be paying a lot more for things and hopefully you know how to make textures because many, if not most, FP meshes don’t come with textures, just AO maps.

    Now if you’re talking about pirated, ripped or copy-botted meshes then we have a different discussion and I’m right there with you… those people should be strung up.

    And.. .in case you’re wondering… I am a creator, I make my own mesh, textures, scripts, etc etc and I VERY rarely sell it full perm. It’s MINE.

    There is no playing victim, I left because someone was a shitty person and rather than creating drama I left out of respect for New Haven. This person did shit, they know what they did.         1) posting on fb for attention. What attention? Me posting a meme or quote like legit everyone on FB in the whole world does isn’t for attention. If I outed a situation or called people out that would be for attention. Or if I posted here or made nasty I comments or lies about people publicly to humiliate them but I tend to sneak away not be out for attention.

        2. I unfriend people to remove myself from people who cause me drama, stress or are connected to someone causing me those things as a way to protect myself. That’s fight or flight in trauma responses and I do it to avoid drama not create it.
        2.1 I put my friends first all the time but when they push me aside or their issues are worth me supporting them in but mine are not worth their time that’s not friendship. I actually blame myself more than anyone else unless it’s a direct thing someone did.

        3.1 actually the people who I do talk to there know me very well one of which has known me since before sl was even a thought for me. The people I talk to there are amazing people who support and talk things out, that when I have a breakdown and push them away they remind me they aren’t going anywhere no matter how my life trauma makes me react.
        3.2 Let’s remember I was never kicked from NH I left because someone was stalking and going after me to people.

I left MM years ago due a situation with them where they tried force kiss my 3rd year and touch them and I ended up logging that night. I was a new roleplayer and Lukka was a 7th year at the time and I asked if anyone was up for roleplay. Lukka was the only one on sim and said sure on thing led to another they tried to use their vella or whatever you call it on me and tried to kiss me in the library and wanted to play their hand on my chest. I should have save the logs but I was so uncomfortable and crying because why would someone want to roleplay that with someone roleplaying a younger child. I attempted to report it at the time but a certain admin was trying to make it out that I was lying because I didn’t have proof. MMs new admins I hear cater to age playing under the table and if you’re friends with the admins they won’t say a thing or do a thing of their close to said age player. The sad part is I’m sure there is a lot of us out there affected by Lukka and nothing is gonna happen. MM admins we all know you are reading this just know due to harassment from Lukka one of your past roleplayer harmed themselves in real life a long time ago and you had to ability to ban Lukka yet you did nothing.

    • The problem with those people who were involved with Lukka, is that if they report the ageplay and offer logs, they put their own accounts on the line. I know someone who roleplayed with one of her characters and as a gay underage couple my friend (playing a fifteen year old) was coerced into giving a blowjob in a very graphic scene. It’s not right and even if the player experienced regret for having engaged in it, there is the chance that they too will have to face consequences by providing evidence. And so it goes unreported.

      The sad truth is MM staff not only ignores this behavior on their sim while simultaneously condemning it, threatening bans for anyone discovered doing ageplay, but they actively engage in it behind closed doors with those within the trusted circle. And they’ve been doing so for years.

        Devon is pretty unhinged and needs to get some help to work through his demons. He’s very rude and quick to try to cancel people who have nothing to do with his claims just because they don’t agree with him.
