She has made a career out of catfishing on more platforms than just second life. I didn’t make a fuss about it but I unfollowed her.

  8. #10 You’re on crack. I am watching my wife make a shape for this idiotic Genus head. The eyes are still glitchy from three years ago, the eyes are red like the avatar is high as hell. The animations on the head are absolutely terrible. The shape of the head is also terrible. If this lady disappeared for a few years, then tries to make another head. People expect something amazing for all the BS she has done. That’s the only way to redeem herself. But no, she just repackaged an old head she had from three years ago with the same issues.

    • I have to agree, it’s still glitchy. That said, I still prefer the the way you can shape it compared to LeL which isn’t hard. As for the eyes…there’s plenty of beautiful eyes out there; AG and IKON come to mind. I never use the eyes that come with the head. *shrug

      Most (not all) of the LeL heads have that large forehead and eyes that are too far apart, like a bug face. They CAN be shaped to look pretty (I’ve done it) but personally I’ve never really liked them in comparison. The LeL huds are better though.

        It’s just crazy. SL offers near infinite customization and people actually judge customizable products based on an example that is designed to act as a base to modify.

    I work hard every day, creating mesh and being friendly towards customers.
    Those who interact with me can vouch for me not having “an ugly heart”
    I do not have the time to get caught up in drama and shenanigans in Second Life,
    I just don’t have the time for it. Many creators in SL can confirm.
    As for the advice to “make better choices”, And to “be a better person”? we’re all navigating life’s

Do you understand the time and effort it takes to run things and ask a one time join fee to go enjoy a very well curated put together place and weekly events? There are extremely shitty clubs that look like a rats pooper that overcharge join fees and has too many noobs standing around. You go put together a well built sim with no group fee and no help and see how that works out for ya 🙂 Its a very nice place and 500L is nothing compared to any of the other places on the grid. Move along…

    • The point of the matter is, is that if you have to resort to charging people to join a group that should otherwise be free – then that’s setting the expectation in someone’s mind that they’re going to be ran by shitty power tripping people. The kind of people that got to justify their bad impulse spending habits so they charge people that’ll just feed into it. “FEED ME MORE!!”

      I can tell you several big clubs that don’t do this and they’re doing just dandy.

She’s been salty all along that most of the people in the FMD group both never paid her and never went to her pathetic club, just hanging around to watch the train wreck since the previous owner(myself included). She threw fits about it in the group chat many times, much to our amusement. It must drive her insane that there are clubs that have 10+ times her traffic without having to have sponsored events and give away Ls to bribe people to show up. She’s a failure; rebuilding and reopening a club multiple times a year is just desperation, like those silly bitches who change their outfit several times in public places hoping they’ll land on something that makes someone, anyone notice them.

Before she took it over and made it an amazing-looking quality club that people would actually want to come to, it was another drab parking lot like so many on SL today. What has made you so bitter to stay up all hours of the night crying out about the inequity and injustice you feel has been done to you on SL. That isn’t freedom of speech, that is a sad little troll hiding behind their keyboard instead of doing their own thing to show us all “How it is done.” I’m still waiting on the list of all these great clubs. Everything else seems to be a laggy parking lot full of overly salty malcontents that only feel empowered by trying to put down others to make themselves feel better. If you’ve got a small collection, it’s way more likely you’ll get customers if your store is suitably small and cozy and everything easy to find, think boutique, not big business. To give you an example of a store I like for being small and cozy, Deadwool has a pretty nice shop layout. Until you’ve got enough products to fill a larger space, you don’t need a huge space like Hoorenbeek, and like the OP said, it can work against you to have such a huge empty space.

    • There are only so many buildings in SL that look nice and can make an area look cohesive and pretty. Like every town uses the same and trusted family houses but if you actually took the time you would notice that TF is more rural mountain town while New Haven is a coastal town with harbors, seedy town areas, several shopping places and such.

Especially the managers at Cat tales, they are a bunch of stuck up assholes. There’s a rule for newcomers that they’re allowed to sell cats that are not bred by newcomers (So cats given to you via friends / family or ones that you have bought and picked up that you don’t want or just want to sell to get some money into the whole kitty cats thing).

    I was told this was the rule for newcomers like myself and it was a grace period of two weeks for every single auction I went to, and I’ve had maybe like 4 or 5 cats in my inventory that weren’t bred by me but had been sitting there forever, and another two that were given to me that had good stats to sell at the Cat Tales auction. About maybe my 3rd auction I was suddenly inboxed by some toddler avatar I’ve had the unpleasantry of hearing on voice, the woman sounded like she smoked 8 packs a day.

    She started interrogating me about who I got these unboxed cats from and where, and that they don’t do the whole “buy the cat from a stand and sell it” and in my case, I was given these cats and had them sitting there in my inventory for ages. When I gave her the names of the people who had given me the two cats individually (and had current cats up for auction to be sold later in the week, both people are good friends and very active in the kitty cats community) just because my friends weren’t online to say, “Yeah I gave them that cat.” she assumed I was running some sort of scam deal.

    I was confused at first, because the overall rule said that for two weeks you could auction off cats that didn’t have your name on them because you are a newcomer and it does take about 12ish days to breed a cat, sometimes more if you want better stats. But I wanted to sell these ones for food and possibly make bids on other ones I could breed with the ones I had.

    She was reneging the rule and trying to get specific about it. Though ALL of the auctioneers had read the same rule over and over again and accepted my cats without any problems. It was too much of a headache and I just asked for my money back from the board because I’m not going to waste time at a place that says one thing but then acts upon another. They “let go” one of their auctioneers that was helping me get into the situation and I felt bad because it wasn’t her fault that HER boss was telling her the wrong thing, and she was simply following the rules. There was also no need to be a complete ahole to me either.

    All of the KittyCat auctions and sale places are connected, and they do take a fair % of your auction. Not only that but 99% of the people at the auction are the people who have the cats for sale and they’re required to be there in order to set the cat for sale if someone does end up buying it, or whatever. It’s some dumb rule. So legitimately you’ll get an auction audience of about 10 people but none of them are really considering on buying another cat unless if you have something really wild and rare.

    It can be fun and a lucrative hobby, but it’s about finding the right place that isn’t ran by old hags that wanna revamp their rules so you’re not “cheating” or doing something stupid. It’s kittycats. They’re prim cats. Scamming happens and I get that people want to prevent that but that entire scenario plus many more are pushing people away from auctions. You go to them and they’re practically dead. So.

    • I never do auctions, it’s the same group of people selling to each other. Set up a store on your land, rent a booth or if you don’t have money to invest just upload to the marketplace.

  48. I can’t say I’ve had any problems in Timber Falls, to be honest. I’m not saying that stuff didn’t happen, I wasn’t there, but I’d say for anyone looking at any RP community, go try it out, and make your own mind up. I’ve RPed in Cedar Creek, Fox Hollow, and Timber Falls, and in all honesty, I think it’s a case of finding your own people you gel with. The RP community I really gelled with sadly closed late last year, and I miss it desperately.

    For some folks, their best fit might be New Haven, it might be Cedar Creek, it might be Timber Falls. All I can say is, I can see why some people didn’t like Fox Hollow, I can see why some people didn’t like Cedar Creek, and I know New Haven isn’t the right spot for me because of past history with some folks involved with it (and that doesn’t mean I think it’s a shitty place, it just means it’s not a good fit for me). I haven’t been at Timber Falls long enough to say one way or the other, but for now it feels as welcoming as any other RP community has been to me.

    When it comes to personal taste, I found Cedar Creek visually bland, though it’s still got a little charm because it’s where I first started RPing on SL, meanwhile I don’t feel that Timber Falls or Fox Hollow so visually bland, but you might feel different. I happen to like a more rural small-town setting, with more wilderness to enjoy horse rides, camping trips, farming, and fishing trips, but if cities or large towns are your thing, New Haven and Cedar Creek might fit you like a glove.

    Just go out and do your thing, find your niche, wherever that might be. All this griping and complaining about RP communities isn’t going to make you feel better, but finding your niche might. Life’s too short to bitch and moan when you could go out and find what makes you happy instead.

      • The way I see it, I gain nothing from being disgusting about RP communities I fell out of love with. It’s in the past, it’s done, why spend my life miserable when it’s easier to just find myself my own little group of friends and try to have some fun? If I’m asked why I left them in private, I might say something, but the days where I’d name names are done. I’ve got better things to do in my life than that.

        I’ve got lovely trails to build, textures to make, and friends to hang out with on SL. And in real life, I’ve got art to make, competitions to win, and a new cat friendo to prepare my home for.

    • I lived in Fox Hollow for about 3 months and loved the aesthetic, but I just got tired of the incessant lag. I have a high end machine but it was just too annoying. It did seem a bit clicky to me too but I’ve found that to be the case at most RP places until you’re there awhile.

      • I was at Fox Hollow for quite a long time, and yeah, the lag could be pretty horrendous, with some specific sims being worse than others for it. Driving emergency services vehicles through some areas was treacherous enough for many that I ended up being a defacto driver in one of those emergency services groups since my computer complained the least about it. Saying that, there’s I think two sims in Cedar Creek that absolutely bogged down my old computer (which was hardly a potato!). I think there’s something to be said for distributing your high lag builds (police, fire, car sales lots), and high population areas (including clubs/public entertainment spaces) sensibly if you have multiple sims, as it can go a long way to helping eliminate lag for your players.

    • I know their last major storyline chased a lot of people off. Basically came down to it revolving around all the admins’ characters (who are the royal family of the sim btw lol) and if you weren’t in that group of people you really were just a set piece.

      Then of course there’s the useless staff who ignored harassment from other staffers against male and female players alike. That probably had something to do with the mass exodus too.

      • I’m a former player who was there for years and sometimes still pop in. I was gone during the big drama, so my info below is secondhand.

        I’m told it lost a ton of players because of a mass exodus in late 2021. There was an attempt at a sim wide story and lots of people felt they had no place in it, and that the admins were mostly just roleplaying with each other. Given that they are all royalty / leads, they were in control of the story. So people left, because there’s a dozen other medieval fantasy sims. But this is stale as fuck drama, people still salty about it post from time to time though.

        Recently they did let in a well known drama breeding diva so I expect the popcorn machine might be powering up again.

She followed me about a week ago and I read the about pages and actually look through pictures when someone follows me before I return the follow. While I was ON HER PAGE she followed another 500 or so more people. So, yeah. I didn’t follow her back. So I’m guessing those are actually her numbers in the last two weeks, not a past screenshot considering her following is LARGER, which you would have known if you actually checked her page as you claim you did. The OP mentioned she’d dropped followers before to look important, I’m assuming.

        As for the actual concern, yeah. I saw a picture of her in a SFW group that doesn’t require posts to be approved and it was her in a sexually suggestive position, fully nude, motioning to spread her ass cheeks. It DID happen, the image was removed from the group and I know a LOT of people reported her for it. I think she had it marked moderate? But fully nude by Flickr TOS counts as Restricted, sexually charged images are considered Restricted as well. So she definitely knew what she was doing when she marked it incorrectly.

        OPs main concern is the one I actually agree with, what’s to stop her from marking something safe, putting it somewhere it doesn’t belong and then exposing a minor to it? Flickr is for EVERYONE that’s why they require images to be moderated. It’s the ones like her that jeopardize SL artwork and photography.

I don’t give a shit about what she posts or how many followers she has, I care that her being sneaky and breaking ToS puts any and all SL Flickr users at risk. Flickr already tried to force us out by changing how we have to categorize our posts, something she ALSO doesn’t do correctly.

Logged on daily and on the land daily, responding to the in-world group and responding on Discord and responding to IMs to help. The entire staff left because of Astrid and the staff that I myself searched for and hired, they all had nothing to want to work for. The place was dead. It died when Tai left, I tried to revive it. I tried to revive it and bring in new things, with zero knowledge on the inner workings of communities. Tai and Astrid told me nothing, I was told that I’d be taught the things I need to know and Tai didn’t even log on to transfer the land in my name so I could pay rent and shit. I had to hound her to get her to do it. I did all that for a dead community, tried to revive it with anything. I even debated on renaming the community for a fresh start. Nothing would’ve ever revived Fox Hollow. All staff and renters left FH when Tai left, people only came there FOR Taissa. There was only one person who genuinely loved FH for the memories she had with the place. I know this because I used to talk with the people in town and check up on them. You all insist I’m a shitty person and am all about money but don’t realize I did a lot of shit with no pay. Working in Luxe LA and selling out Angel’s entire Malibu sim when it opened? I was never paid for rental work there and I did rentals for 2 months. Fox Hollow? I started in August and the first time I was paid was in November or December, I was sending rental notecards to everyone every single day, showing homes, and managing Casper. All on my own. No complaints. And when I was paid it was less than 1k a week, who is doing all that for 1k a week? I did it because I loved the community. You people decided to bring my name up when Timber Falls has been the talk of this website since you guys were building. That’s on you guys, not me. Don’t lump me into your failing community because I’m helping out a new community. I had pulled that remaining 16k and stored it on my alt account because someone had logged into the builder account to change the pass and I had no idea who had access to the accounts.       • It depends on what part of the world, In some parts of europe simulated CP like animations or illustrations is considered illegal. I believe there were cases in Germany the UK and also Australia that have treated it just as bad and the person owning the materials and creatign them has faced jail time.

        Child-specific avatars have nothing in those regions because they are literally made that way. Adult avatars come with genitalia. So when you attempt to create a child avatar from an adult avatar, the regions come with it. Its fucking weird and borders on insane.

    • Maui does shit like “key parties” often, trying to force people into random hookups so the desperate people who are constantly there can get a shot at anyone but each other. Being a swinger doesn’t mean you have no standards and are willing to be paired up with just anyone though, and meeting people at social events like a DJ set makes a lot more sense than having your first conversation because a script gave you someone’s imaginary “keys”.     • Except for like when the post said, if they have the host and the host is doing their literal job of welcoming people and keeping the room vibes talkative and party like, there is no need for the DJ (regardless of what they’re playing or mixing, doing whatever, that’s a whole different category) to keep talking. People want to hear the music, not some person interrupting every 5 seconds to welcome someone in or comment over the music so damn much you’ve missed a good 80% of the song. Nothing is more irritating than enjoying a song and the bass is about to drop or you’re vibing to it and you have “aXeL welComE to Tha CLuB” along with a whole ass conversation ontop of the music that doesn’t need to happen. If you have a host or two, that’s their job to bounce conversation off one another and amongst the crowd to keep them engaged and involved.

      As a club owner, hire hosts that know what their duties are, talk with your staff, it’s not hard. If people can’t do their jobs and just do in fact “stand there” then they don’t need to work at your club. It should all be one big cohesive working system amongst the staff. This can be seen in good successful established clubs and up and coming clubs that are growing well.

      • I own a club that has a fair bit of audience on the nights we are open, and we reach max sim compacity when we hold events, so I’d like to say I know what I’m talking about. I know plenty of other clubs that do the same thing. If a host isn’t hosting, or doing their job as you said, then they don’t need to be holding that position anymore.

        My team is amazing. Surely we’ve had people apply and not be what we want, but that comes with any job. The hosts / hostesses do exactly what they’re required, and I have good tips for them in NC’s in a little packet when they’re hired. When someone applies, our management team has a bulletin of things that are requirements such as, “Keep the audience engaged as much as possible, bounce conversations amongst one another, remind people of upcoming events, sponsors, tipping, as well as notify half time.” and the entire process of how notifications go in SL and on Discord when switching people between sets. Our Discord (especially now with hired discord mods that play SL and know the dynamic) fosters an amazing environment where everyone on the team can learn from one another and improve on their skill on the private team side of it, as well as harboring fun and playful audience engagement.

        You’re quite possibly right, but this isn’t the Old secondlife, it’s 2023 with a lot of new generations coming in that want to listen to music. A lot of feedback given to us throughout time has been “Less of the DJ talking please, we’d like to hear the music.”

        You’re right, a lot of clubs are desperate, but they’re also expecting miracles and maximum popularity over night without realizing it takes time to gain an audience and get staff that meshes together well. A lot of people open clubs and assume they will be instant money banks when that’s the furthest from the truth. If you’re not fixing your problems and taking constructive criticism or feedback, you are not willing to progress. That goes for anything really.

        DJ’s are supposed to entertain with the host, you’re right. They are DJ’s, and that’s their role is to be a DJ, not a commentator or a welcomer. That’s a host’s job. The occasional “Thank you for the tip!” or “Thank you for having me!” at the end or beginning of a set is perfectly fine, but when you have DJ’s that are responding actively to what’s going on in local is not something anyone wants to hear. People attend clubs RL and SL for clubs, but that’s where the two do not run parallel. SL atmosphere and overall social structure mixed in with its own technological capability is way different than RL. A lot of the times when a DJ talks, it fades the music or it goes over the music, sometimes even interrupting or pausing the broadcast of music, like I said above, a lot of people are not into that.

    • I like a DJ to talk a little, just so we know we’re not tipping an afk avi who has some list running on auto. A good DJ will fade the music behind their voice so they don’t have to yell and blow our eardrums out, keep it short and infrequent, and ideally have the ability to loop a few seconds so that they don’t drown out any part of a song that people really want to hear. If they’re so basic they can’t do that, they should make themselves some short clips to add to their playlists for when they want to talk. If you expect people to pay you for entertainment, you can do the bare minimum to qualify as an actual entertainer and not just as any dick with a broadcasting program.
