    Just leave people be. If they’re not breaking TOS (and an avatar with an appearance under the age of 30 is not breaking TOS) then it’s not anything for you to even think you have a say in.

  19. 27) Lara is still the best Meshbody you can get for little money. And for many it was the first mesh body. Not everyone wants to lose so many nice clothes. If a partner leaves someone because of a slightly better mesh body that person wasnt worth it anyway and you will be in danger to get replaced too, if that mesh body is all you can offer. Also… most men cant tell the differance anyway. The hate on Lara is insane. Do we really need bodyshaming on sl?

    • Not to mention how Lara bodies and Reborn bodies have different contours under average slider conditions. I cannot make Reborn’s butt look like mine does in Maitreya because it is designed to assume you want to be pear-shaped. Maitreya is designed for a more balanced look. The balance is why I was devoted to SLink Physique until Siddean left the grid.

      I’m not saying bigger butts are automatically a problem. I’m not saying Maitreya is objectively better, either. The only argument I have ever made for people to switch is perhaps more optimised mesh or it suits their vision / form better… REALLY don’t see the point of bickering over who’s ass is better meshed. I own Mait, Legacy, Reborn, Kups, Kupra, Freya, Jake, Slink ect and they all have their own shapes and purpose..

    Be who YOU want to be rather than giving a shit about what that girl or guy over there is wearing. No one is forcing you to interact with them.

    • What is it you actually think you know! 1st off Huntress is a very successful market that has ALWAYS supported breedables and has been a huge supporter of Potted. In fact they are one of few markets that actually ran pricing guides to help maintain the market prices and keep Potted afloat. If you want to point fingers maybe look towards the fact that Potted has 3 meshes and over 100 retextured items. They are a great product but people have a short attention span in breedables and grow very bored quick- when they do breeders sell low. This is all breedables or games it happens with. All Huntress has done is give POTTED patrons a market for their sales and breedables. While other market do OPEN BID auctions and shopping panels, or breeders selling seeds for under a 1k that are brand new. You should point your fingers at the people truly at fault. Potted is great product but unfortunately as soon as a new breedable releases they will be like everything else old news. Patrons of Potted should ban together to keep prices and hold all of markets accountable instead of pointing fingers— 1-2 people do not end a breedable.. Idiots selling in every market for quick cash is the problem.

Rather than continuing to shame people for using Maitreya, could some commenters who have changed bodies after using Maitreya for a long time provide some useful tips for how to go about doing that? Especially if your inventory/CTS Wardrobe was previously organized to prioritize Maitreya items? It seems like a sort of daunting task and it would be nice to have a constructive conversation around how to change bodies instead of this petty bitchery.

    • Useful tip- buy the new body, buy new clothes, the end. This isn’t NATO.

    • Really, just go buy the new body you’d like and check to see if any of the stores from your other clothing items or mesh items have updated to also include new said body. You’d be able to delete the older versions and get the updated ones for free.
      And if you’re trying to figure out the organization aspect. In your inventory, between your inventory and the received items box below. There’s a suitcase button. It opens a second inventory. I would also recommend utilizing the “recent” tab for ease of access.

      Also, if you want a use friendly body, use reborn. Though if you’re looking for a look that doesn’t have nice bit of thick…. Use w.e body. Personally, I prefer reborn just because too many people when making skinny avi’s tend to make them look pre-pubescent. And that’s just me personally. It’s SL, have fun.

      • CTS isnt your inventory sorting. Its a tool to create outfits within the CTS warddrobe functioning with links and images. While could edit links to body all the outfits themself would be broken

      • That’s just literally how I do it. I forget how to update all your bodies at once. I was shown it like once or twice? But, yea. Forgot how to do it. I think it’s like you right click the individual item and then hit replace all links? I could be wrong, but that’s how you’d replace all the old stuff with the newer stuff, but it’s only one item at a time sadly. (Could be wrong, someone correct me if I am)

    • It’s not an either-or situation. Most people still use their Maitreya some of the time for old outfits. Just save the whole damn thing as an outfit. CTS will throw a fit but it was going to anyway.

      Every friend I’ve had who changed from Maitreya was already buying from stores that had other sizes so when they got their new body, they just mass redelivered and switched out the sizes in their inventory. Firestorm has a “replace links” feature too, very handy. Some did have to give up clothes only for Maitreya. If you worry you’ll change your mind and want those back – just keep the original boxes and clear out the unpacked ones. Save your shapes too.

      I’ve only changed kid bodies a few times and it’s a pain, there’s no way around it and no way to make it easy.

  26. 3. Faceapp – making ugly to mediocre avatars look better since 2017. Faceapp – the poor man’s photoshop. They need a slogan. I don’t care if people use faceapp but their avatars usually look stupid or obviously faceapped. The smiles are creepy too. It’s nice to see photos that don’t use heavy enhancement on the avatar’s face. I especially hate when creators and bloggers use it to advertise skin and face products.

  42. Well, when it comes to the Maitreya thing. I use it, and both my friends use it. I’m in my 30’s, one of my friends is in her 40’s and the other just turned 50. The reason we first picked the body is a simple one, at the time we bought them it was (and still is) the most supported body for clothing.

    People who have been using Maitreya for a long time are now essentially “locked in” to the body. Is Maitreya showing its age? Yes, it is, is it an old body? Yes, it is. However, does it still look decent? Yes, but only if you spend time to tweak the shape to overcome some of the obvious problems…and THAT is the singular problem with some Maitreya users you see, they haven’t spent time on the shape.

    When me and the girls go out and dance we get nice comments in chat and even in IM, and we’re going to the likes of Peak and Warehouse where there are a lot of Legacy and other body users. Sure, we’ve had a few comments that the body suck’s and we should buy new ones, i then ask them for 400,000+ L$ to replace the clothing we will EACH need to drop. The convo ends soon after that. There’s been a handful of times they start getting abusive, I just block and report if that happens.

    Maitreya is showing its age though, at some point they are going to have to give it a major overhaul, or come out with a totally new body, but for the people who have been using Maitreya for a number of years and have hundreds, and in some cases thousands of outfits for it, it’s going to have to be a big draw in order to change to a body where a lot of those outfits won’t work.

    27- I don’t think Maitreya is bad. I think it is popular because it is very easy to use and there’s so many clothes that fit it. When I first got Reborn I actually struggled finding clothes from some of my favorite stores to fit Reborn body. I Will say though that Reborn though is growing a lot more in popularity and I do prefer the curviness that Reborn has and I do find that I can shape Reborn better.

    Maitreya has indeed lost market share since I last pulled it in February (about 3k), while Reborn has gained (about 1k). However, Reborn still is not even close to edging out Maitreya, with less than half the users. I think the perception that Maitreya is losing steam is based on the observer’s friend groups and hangouts rather than a grid-wide trend.

    About half of all Signature Gianni users are using an old version of the body, not the most recent. This may contribute to the perception in the data that it’s less popular.

    • How many of that maitreya market share are actual daily use accounts, not bots and alts?

      • That’s also an interesting question. We can’t say for sure because the BBs don’t discriminate and count all avatars they see. I believe there are attachment scanner HUDs you can use that might yield more insight, if you scanned the people around you and judged whether you thought they were a bot or not.

        My hearing is far more sensitive than average, and I hear outside of normal human range by a small margin at both top and bottom of range. My nightvision is likewise excellent, and I can still distinguish some colors in lower light conditions than average – however, the deficit is that in full daylight, I have more difficulty seeing unless I wear polarized lenses, because it’s far too bright. Until I started getting older, my eyesight was better than average in terms of seeing details, both up close, and at distance, though with age, my close distance sight is beginning to deteriorate, and I now need glasses to see words on a computer screen or read a book, for example.

That’s a repost from a few weeks ago, an old ad from a creator who apparently made that shape for a friend, and they haven’t been using it for their ads for the better part of a year now. The creator herself made an appearance to explain. Normally we’re more or less on the same page on this topic but on that one, you’re wrong.

    • i personally have a young looking face in RL, i made my avatar as close to my rl face as possible. i think as long as you keep some of the mature aspects to an adult it should be fine. People tend to really focus on the face, some of which clearly do look to much like a minor while some just look like adults with just younger features. If you want a younger face to match your age thats ok in my opinion, bc the rest of your avatar would reflect an adult (chest thighs butt and so on). Now if its also a matter of what someone is wearing…I mean wear what you want. Only issue i would see is if a person decided to run around in child associated items (diapers for example).

    • I’m so glad you said this, because this week I took on a different casual project- lovely young women, who also look like adults. See, the other thing I’m tired of besides the deliberate misrepresentation of what we’re disturbed by, which I made very clear last week, is this incredibly stupid idea that the only options in SL are looking underage, or looking “old” (despite the fact that almost no one actually looks “old” in SL and the rare ones that do are nearly always male).

      • Even in real life, it can be difficult to guess someone’s age just based on what they look like. If you want an example, check out the videos on YouTube of bartenders trying to guess ages. There’s plenty of people over 18 with young looking faces, and plenty underage who look older. You can’t base age of an avatar solely on their look. You have to factor in their behavior too.

    • You cannot do a slim shape with reborn. But Reborn was created for girls who wanted a body style that better represented them.

      But Reborn isn’t just super-inflated T&A either. That is the user NOT the mesh body. Some people just want to slide those sliders all the way to 100, add in deformers that push them even bigger then add in physics that make it look like their boobs and butts spin in circles and clap.

      The reborn users I know just wanted a curvier look to reflect their RL bodies. But one friend did say she had to put some of the sliders closer to 0. But she has a great look for reborn.

      • Yeah, my butt slider is perpetually on zero. I’m a femboy but I didn’t want to be child-sized and/or have super exaggerated curves and I hate TMP/Legacy as a company so I had to settle for the Reborn V-Tech. The Vanilla Cloud deformers are pretty nice when it comes to smoothing that shelf booty and nipping things in a bit more.

      • They make me think of what a person would actually have to be made of in order to move like that- nothing but skin sacks of fat hanging off bones with zero muscle underneath. So gross. It might be the most bizarre SL trend I’ve ever seen, at least since the days of having a thigh gap like a traffic tunnel.

      • If Reborn genuinely represents them then we’ve got some sort of very odd mutation issue going on. Have never seen women shaped like Reborn seems to want to be shaped, by all means have thick thighs but they don’t come with tiny waists and shoulders 1/4″ the width of hips.

        I understand there’s a desire for ‘thick’ girl avis but Reborn seems custom made to produce a body shape that is as freakish as any other avatar.
