  3. 3 – Questions for you… First, if SL is a cult you freed yourself from, why are you still hanging out in the compound? Second, why is disagreeing with you about whether SL is a game proof someone is a cult follower? Additionally, when the owners of Second Life and the bad knockoffs like Meta agree they aren’t making games, why are you somehow more accurate about it? Third, isn’t the judgment you perceive over what’s affordable in SL a virtual parallel to RL when someone’s a materialistic twit? Or maybe just fuck off completely. This “I’m better than you because I can’t stand being disagreed with” routine was old long before you opened GIMP to make this.

    • The poster wouldnā€™t be the only one on VS who comes here to remind themselves why they left. If you need a sobering up to prevent an urge to get back into SL, with plenty of the drama to look through without actually being involved, VS is a condensed reminder.

      They also wouldnā€™t be the only ones who have confessed they quit SL and use VS to curtail the habit. Iā€™ve seen probably a small handful of posts over the years like this. They rarely get much attention.

      While VS is usually used to spread hate, thereā€™s sometimes a good secret here or there. Memorials to those who no longer play or died. Confessions of regret, of missing someone, or loneliness. Itā€™s sometimes cathartic to let it out anonymously. Just look at Reddit for example – thereā€™s a lot of venting subs to give and take advice.

      Most of us come here to laugh at the drama, myself included, but Iā€™m not gonna invalidate someone saying they are relieved to quit a habit that was unhealthy for them. Good on them for admitting it was a bad environment for them and getting out.

      VS is a mixed bag sometimes. Sometimes itā€™s an instrument of hate and turmoil, other times itā€™s a place to release the pressure valve on struggles. VS was originally supposed to be a copy of Post Secrets before it became the bogeyman for residents it is.

    • What kills me about comments like these is that SL has always been a place where people can come and be a part of something, regardless of what maladies, if any, they had in rl. So many people, over the last 15+ years, joined because they were limited for some reason from socializing in rl, things like physical disability, illness, social anxiety, etc. I’d venture to say a greater part of the community lives on a fixed income. While spending $2-$4 dollars on something in rl seems very little, you’re talking about 350L-615L out of maybe the 5k worth of lindens they’ve budgeted for SL for the month. With tier, and whatever things they spend their lindens on, it adds up *very* quickly. That’s without even touching on the situation that’s been created in the wake of all the covid shutdown time and the current recession.

      To insinuate that someone on a budget shouldn’t be on SL, is frankly rude, fucked up, and apathetic to the max. Congrats if you can afford to spend more, good on you, but don’t shit on someone else because they’re in a lesser situation.

SL abounds with those who cannot get out of their disability or even being far removed in rural areas where the average wage is pennies and inflation is causing more demand at food banks and homeless shelters. People are getting desperate. The 11% yearly raise from inflation those on disability used to get is going away. They canā€™t even have savings past $2,000 if they donā€™t own a home or live in an expensive area. Itā€™s practically enforced poverty. And you canā€™t get disability if you never worked. Disability claims are denied 3 to 4 times. My Father and Grandmother worked themselves to the bone from the time they were teens and ended up with crippling disabilities that qualified them for permanent handicap placard. Yet even they got denied twice despite multitudes of doctors saying these people cannot work.

        And SL, being a space where these people can socialize, ends up pressuring and pressuring them to spend outside of their means just to fit in. Many virtual spaces are built on predatory schemes that encourage gambling. And yet if someone just goes for a basic or maybe slightly out of date avatar to save money they get laughed at. Look at the body and head wars we get every week here.

        I work, my husband works, but I also know that sometimes we are paycheck to paycheck and just one or two payments from an emergency doing us under.

        Sure, we donā€™t expect handouts, but on the same hand donā€™t expect wealth from those who donā€™t have it. SL would be a wonderful virtual space if wage disparity wasnā€™t everyoneā€™s AHA gotcha moment to mock people.

      • Has it occurred to either of you that if people who can’t afford virtual luxuries(which is everything in SL) quit whining about how much those things cost, even demanding lower prices and sales sometimes, no one would get that “AHA gotcha” moment?

        Of course there are poor people, people on fixed incomes, and when they talk about the price of rent, food, utilities, and healthcare, I have all the sympathy in the world. No one should be without the necessary things required to live, and I’d subsidize them with my tax dollars if my country had any sense. But not being able to buy every new Doux release is NOT a necessary thing to live, or even to use SL. People are split by income in the real world too, and if you saw someone who can’t eat without SNAP benefits crying about how they want some Yeezys, it’s a natural response to think their priorities are bizarre. ļ»æ šŸ™„ ļ»æ

        • The Puppy picture by Meep was done before the very similar one by Bunny that came like few days ago, and there was many pictures like that, sadly I can’t give more examples as Meep had to delete/reupload many pictures since the flickr new ToS, so the only advice I can give is to look at Meep and Bunny social medias to compare.
        • When Meep was called out on Virtual Secrets of copybotting, it was for stuff she didn’t credited (Bloody mouth and body materials) and when Meep had to justify herself on social medias, few days after : Bunny took a photo with this specific Bloody mouth.         There is proof on Verinne’s blog post about Bunny actively showing “Purrs too much” before Verinne even took up “Purrinne”.

        Bunny made her profile have .exe all over it before Verinne even touched her malt, Fatal Syntax. Verinne changed her profile to be similar to Bunny in SL. Verinne started to add “Robots & Lace” art to her profile and accused Bunny of copying her even though Bunny has uploads from around 2017/2018 and all Verinne’s are in 2020.

        The only time these posts go up is when Bunny updates something positive. Then this is put up and then Bunny gets put on blast by Verinne.

        Do you think people haven’t noticed that? Everyone knows who is putting these up and it’s the person with an extremely unhealthy obsession with Bunny.

        The blood mouth thing? Go to marketplace and type in Bloody Mouth and it’s on the first page when you search from Newest.

        The reason why people believe it was Bunny who posted on this site is because Verinne went around and said no one would ever defend Bunny. So she has gone out of her way to accuse every post made about her over the years being done by The Bunny or her friends. With no proof at all, just under the assumption that no one would defend Bunny.

        That one I’d say is a coincidence because Bunny started to get hell over the blood and explained how she got it. Bunny also said she’d not call someone out for editing items they’ve previously bought, even textures, as long as they’re not giving them out. That was a post somewhere on her twitter a while Bach because people were abusing her anonymous tell thing about it but she has 1000 posts and I don’t want to go through them all to find it.

        The reason why people have been giving Verinne shit for years because even when there are no posts done by Bunny with any similarities beyond white hair or being a kitsune, Verinne will make PSAs about her. If she finds out Bunny has a new social media, she’ll make a PSA about her. If Bunny succeeds in something, Verinne will make a post about Bunny reminding everyone about what happened. If Bunny succeeds in RL, Verinne will make a post about her. If Bunny has a new relationship with someone Verinne might follow, Verinne will try to tell members of that relationship about it. The latest example had been shown where Bunny dated a guy called Yu. He had another submissive that Bunny had no contact with. Verinne suddenly went to befriend that submissive and brought up Bunny to them. That was a major red flag for everyone involved in that.

        Bunny has apologised to Verinne but Verinne wants her to do a public apology and apologise for absolutely everything Verinne has accused her of, and Bunny won’t because she believed this should be handled privately (as per her FB post).

        If Verinne actually moved on and stopped obsessively posting about Bunny, or about any drama she gets involved in, she wouldn’t be in this mess. It’s because all Verinne does is post about Bunny while going “I’m not do anything. I’m trying to live my life.” Bunny physically can’t defend herself in any form because the moment she tries to protect herself from Verinne then she goes “Bunny is the one continuing it.” It’s essentially a no win situation for Bunny and I know for a fact that she is focusing elsewhere because of her own personal mental health issues.

        Bunny isn’t okay. Anyone who has messaged her or spoken to her knows she’s not okay. But it’s better if she let’s herself get continually dragged down in hopes Verinne will eventually move on. I only know that because I’ve a few mutual friends with her and Bunny openly isolates herself from people and when things like these posts happens, she only speaks to a minimum which I had been told were her partner and her close friend Hye.

        Verinne is one of the most hated people on SL. You don’t even need to know about the Bunny situation to hear a large amount of other drama she been involved in. It’s just that she has popularity. If she wasn’t popular and didn’t know how to manipulate the masses, she probably wouldn’t be in any of the positions she’s in now.

        I can respect your side of things. It’s just that the reason why this keeps happening to Verinne is probably because she’s preaching to everyone how she’s not doing anything, living in her own lane, etc. Then simultaneously posting about Bunny basically 24/7.

    SECOND: WORST ALPHA EVER!! I did a photograph in front of a glass wall. Originally I had wanted to use a messy ponytail from Doux. But that didn’t work because the alpha was a train wreck. Tram hair which is notorious for its fly away hairs; you’d think that would be an alpha mess! Instead that work like a charm.

    FINALLY: I remember back in the late ’00 people would shill out $10k for a Fatpack of Stiletto Moody shoes thinking they were the shoes to have. But when designers get greedy, it opens up opportunity for other great designers to take over with their amazing product that is just as high quality and way more affordable. We had no problem ditching those shoes ages ago. I can do the same with Doux hair. There are too many great hair designers out there like Tram, Foxy, Rama, Exile, Magika, Kuni and I’m sure many others I should have mentioned that are doing it better than Doux and deserve our business!

    • I don’t even know where to start with this wall of nonsense; it comes down to, if Doux hair seems expensive to you, you should probably be looking for a better job or a second one, instead of exacerbating your poverty in SL. 550L for a fatpack with a style HUD is upsetting you? Some of the creators you named at the end cost more, and you get less for your Ls in terms of colors and style options- super dumb stand to take.

      Not sure how you don’t know this as a “blogger”, but all alpha hairs will conflict with alpha backgrounds. Magika, Kuni, Rama, Foxy, and Exile would all have the same problem, better or worse depending on the style. If your Tram hair didn’t, it’s because you chose one without alpha mesh; their “flyaways” are usually solid meshes. In that way they kinda do nice work, but their hair textures are pretty outdated, colors extremely limited, and they release mostly short styles- you’re not gonna find anything longer than shoulder length there. You don’t really have to zoom very close to see how those solid mesh wisps are definitely not smooth, though- also, their fatpacks cost quite a bit more than Doux.

      I have hairs from all of those places, so I’m not saying any of them are “bad”, but you can’t name any creator that offers more varied releases with more options for cheaper, at very consistent quality. Magika(my favorite, FYI) is the only one that comes close on every metric, but she offers inconsistent color options(streaks/duo tone only on some releases) and fewer, if any, style options. Exile hair varies wildly in quality from one release to the next; some of them look good, some of them are a mess, and their textures are kinda unrealistic to current standards. The colors are too bright and cartoony.

      Rama is doing very nice work recently but you get one color pack+style HUD for a whole whopping 40L less than the Doux blogger pack. Full fatpacks are about 1k, like 900 something, they are another favorite. Only since the most recent texture update though. Those releases haven’t reached the weekend sales yet. Kuni is super slow on releases, but it looks pretty good and they put all their hair in the weekend sales, so I get their fan base. They do have inconsistent color/style options though. Foxy has cheap color packs but usually makes style changes and accessories fatpack only, which are 660L- considerably more than Doux. See how your outrage makes no sense? No one’s gonna force you to buy Doux hair, ffs it might cut down on some NPC clone effect so stick to your guns, but your reasoning is :poop:

      Might I suggest Wasabi Pills; they were a favorite back in the playdoh mesh days and since updating to alpha mesh their stuff is looking pretty cute again, they do full fatpacks in their sale items, and their surprisingly cheap single color packs include style options if there are any, no extra huds to buy. Textures not top tier, but not bad either- similar to Yomi, actually. I suggest them too, cute and interesting styles there. Can’t recall the pricing offhand, but we’ve already established that numbers confuse you anyway lol

        I second Wasabi, they have some cute, unique styles to play with.

        Yomi is a new find, pricing is fairly reasonable, I believe the current latest Fatpack is at The Warehouse for 262 linden, style hud is an additional 75.

      • Agreed that Wasabi Pills is a really viable option again. Magika is pretty consistent with her color options once she updates them. Things that don’t have streaks/highlights are from past releases. Exile is…. so good when they’re good. Truth is excellent, but rarely does shorter styles.

        But even so, for Exile/Magika/Truth, you’re going to pay 400ā€“500L for a similarly-sized color pack. They’re not much cheaper than Doux, if at all.

    • Well yeah, they’re ostensibly offering free, open source shit. Some people would do anything for that. They’ve made no guarantees though; it’s always a “plan” or “intention”. We’ll see if it even happens, and if anyone else bothers to make things for the body even if it does.

      However, they’re not entirely lying about eBody team. The Kottr creator had to pull a couple of mods and rework them so they were further from Reborn rigging, although it was done really quickly and it doesn’t seem to have been that difficult to meet the requirements. I admit I thought it was a bizarre thing, to release a fully mod body and then get picky about how people mod it, but they’re still being more reasonable than the Shops team. If Legacy ever falls out of favor, those guys will be totally to blame.

      • They did lie about the eBody situation, though. They claimed the creator was banned from making things for eBody and that they threatened them with legal action, then the creator and eBody came out and said none of that was true. They only requested that the mods get pulled temporarily so they can be fixed to be in line with their tos, which is perfectly understandable. eBody was even working with them to get the mods back up as quickly as possible. It’s all a huge red flag.

      • It’s actually true on that. As there’s posts that were put up that are now since deleted. It’s why people were calling them out. I feel Anima said they were to “force” Ebody to speak up about it instead of dealing with it privately, like Oz had originally wanted. Actually it would have stayed that way had Anima not tweeted about it. But because anima jumped to posting about it on twitter, it created such an up roar that now. It kind of seems like they did do it to try and tear ebody down and promote their own body. I’m not much for the skinny bodies, but if that male body turns out better than the other male bodies, I sure as hell will buy it. But currently, reborn is my go to female/femboy body.

They delete tweets and even in the tweets about eBody they went on to promote themselves. Itā€™s sus they deleted all the posts. Never addressed the fact that they were in the wrong. Then went ahead and started instantly promoting their body. Itā€™s been non-stop promoting themselves. Itā€™s sus to me. I still support eBody and that Iā€™ll always be my go to aside from Kupra. The whole situation should have been handled offline. I donā€™t believe eBody was in the wrong and they were doing the best they could to get it situated offline. The issue also was that Anima wasnā€™t event directly involved in the issue, it was an affiliate so why did THEY call out the creators of eBody. It seems like a promo tactic.

      • That’d be the name I’ve heard thrown around and there are stories them of ripping mesh from commercial sites to sell as their own. If these bodies aren’t Regalia 2.0, it makes me wonder if they’re stolen mesh being slightly altered. No creator I’ve ever known could make an entire body this quickly from scratch and their Legacy chest took months for just a chest.

      • To my unprofessional eye, the body doesn’t look like a rip. Ripped/prefab mesh bodies look like shit, they’re usually unoptimized for SL too with terrible topology and a high poly count – but Exit posted a preview video in wireframe mode on twitter. So I think the bodies really were sculpted by Exit.

        HOWEVER.
        I think that they are too early teasing these bodies, I think Exit got excited and posted a wip due to the ebody freakout, and the reality is, this body is probably nowhere near done. Sculpting, retopology and rigging the body isn’t the hard and long part. Scripting and implementing features are.

        And I feel like it’s a little bit of a let down how ANIMA don’t give ETAs or anything, and as much as I like Exit’s enthusiasm… perhaps it’s better to wait close until release until announcing it. So that there’s less chance of somethign going wrong or people being let down.

        Especially since there are still a tons of things Anima has teased that are still not out, and have no release dates.

      • Sugarcult has a reputation for shit talking customers and blaming them always for every little thing, acting like they’re all evil and that only the artists (read: their friend circle) are the good guys who are “being abused” – whilst putting lower and lower effort content out. Most of their newer releases are lacking features, heads don’t have asymmetry, all mesh parts are lazily stuck to Right Hand, stuff is untested. If you criticize them for this they’ll tell you that it’s a “Novelty Event Item” – because they are pro-gacha and still follow the gacha method, just with regular releases now.

        There is also some spicier stuff too. Like the fact that they claim to be 30+ with kids but still crybully and believe in Tumblr teenager politics… yikes.

        So I personally believe Sugarcult is behind the decision for Anima to remain “anonymous.” They whine a lot about “Artist Abuse” aka genuine criticism & basic customer service that they simply cannot handle.

        Aether is sugarcult’s friend and was a mod in their server. She is your typical “uwu I’m babygirl?” furry with a personality disorder and attitude problem. She is incapable of being nice or polite about anything, is just one of those people who is tiring and draining to be around because she thinks acting “Bratty” aka insufferable and childish is cute.

        Plus I’ve heard that they’re both associated with some shitty, scummy people, like Motoko who has been accused of content theft multiple times.

        seeing both alex and aether’s behavior firsthand, and being booted from their discord (only way to get product support btw!) made me lose trust in either of them. i think they just are the type of people who genuinely enjoy stirring up drama by self-victimization, a pattern that i have unfortunately seen a lot.

      • Considering who is on the team, some are saying this is a repurpose of the Regalia 2.0 that wasn’t released and that’s why it’s moving so quickly. Is another slim female body and over muscled male body really needed though? There are a bunch that can’t get support now as is that have a far better TOS than Legacy and I’m sure would be happy to have someone want to make mods. Anima Twitter says they have more bodies planned which makes it feel even more like Regalia 2.0. Are they going to pump out a bunch of bodies then expect clothing designers to just pick them up to rig for? It doesn’t work that way.

        Noticed the new release has Legacy and eBody support too.. weren’t they against Legacy? Why are they leaving out other bodies who would happily support their mods?

      • Nah I don’t think it’s regalia. Look at the preview sculpts. That’s not Alex/Sugarcult’s style, regalia was never that detailed. Alex is on Anima but only as retopology… Exit sculpts things. So it can’t be “regalia 2.0”.

        Also they are, to some extent, profit driven. So they’re likely finishing the skinny female body first because it’ll be a better seller. I hope they stick to their promises and make other body types though.

      • Something is really weird about the pace of these bodies, though. When the Legacy situation happened, they said they were thinking about doing their own body. Now all of a sudden they are ready to shit out 3 of them. Oh, but it apparently took them almost a year to make the flat chest Legacy declined. What?

      • So I don’t think this is weird, actually. Exit said “the team was considering making their own bodies” before the eBody drama, and also Exit seems to sculpt at lightning speed. On his Twitter he has said “I’m going to update this sculpt today” and finish it in a matter of hours.

        I think that’s the one benefit to Anima’s team method, they have people who do only one step of the process, which speeds things up. They’ve been putting out heads super fast too. Plus it’s possible that a lot of these sculpts/meshes have been in reserve for a long time.

        I don’t condone their anonymity though.

      • They deleted their tweets when eBody released a statement and I don’t have screenshots. If you look in the customer support channel in the eBody discord though, you can see it mentioned there. Kottr talked about it in their posts in the Kottr discord and eBody also mentioned that accusation in their statement, too.

      • DMCA = legal action so if this was the threat it is not incorrect, once a DMCA is in place the only method of fighting is with a lawyer

      • No it was 100% incorrect, both eBody and Kottr said that legal action was never threatened. Exit just pulled that one out of their ass.

      • So do you have a source of Kottr saying that, or is it just what you heard? No one’s provided that yet.

      • Whomever wrote that – Exit or not – knew that they were stirring up a mob with lies and half truths and then a few days later, they pop up sculpts of a body “made from pure creative rage at human creators”? This reeks of something not being right.

      • So I think Exit, the one being most vocal on twitter, does good sculpt work. Their work has been good, so far. But by god I wish they’d give ETAs. This new mesh body line was pulled out of the blue. It’s great that they’re making an open source body – but like, don’t get people’s hopes up. No ETA makes me think it’s long from release, and if so… maaaybe it’s too early to announce.

      • I’m still very sus about the entire thing from what I’ve seen. Open source and fully mod would be nice but again – no support = no one uses it.

      • There’s a really good reason why people don’t give ETAs- because people ignore that E means “estimated”, and start immediately freaking out if they don’t get the thing by the estimated date. I wouldn’t want to deal with that shit either.

  84. #7: They won’t be able to get anyone with actually good style who knows what they’re doing to make clothes for it, already it’s hard enough shopping for popular bodies. Everything about Anima seems sketchy as fuck and their heads are atrociously stiff and expressionless, I expect the body to be just as janky and weird. Olivia is destined for the same scrap heap that Nuaha, Kemono and Regalia all are buried in.

    I’d strongly suggest human content creators stay far away from this dumpster fire in progress and instead support lesser known existing bodies that aren’t going to have the furry community baggage smeared all over it.

    • Nauha was pre-bento and was an uncanny valley nightmare made by a furry artist.
      Regalia was non-SLUV and was abandoned by Sugarcult on purpose, Kemono is extremely old and also non-SLUV.

      Honestly, since Anima’s bodies are SLUV they probably have every chance of taking off. IF they get finished. That’s what I’m worried about. Certain artists on the Anima team have a track record for shitting out unfinished, half-assed content, or not delivering on promises. Exit seems to be teasing the bodies sculpts way too early – which, sure, it’s cool to see and promising to hear, but it won’t be good if it takes too long to come out or it ends up being canceled. They should’ve waited until closer to release to reveal it. Then maybe it’ll go smoothly.

      Plus they’re also doing unusual body types, like a muscular female that isn’t a fetish body, which has interested a lot of people.

      But you’re right, it is a dumpster fire full of fireworks waiting to go off… I feel bad for Exit because their sculpts are genuinely quality. But some of the other members just seem to be using the anonymous “team” as a shield to hide from the consequences of their shitty behavior as solo people.

      • It’s not as unusual as they think. Athletic female bodies that are SLUV do exist, they’re just not supported by clothing/mod makers and in the end – that’s what it comes down to. Will big name modders and clothing makers support these bodies? If the answer is “no”, then they’re as good as dead on release.

      • The chances of these bodies going mainstream and gaining success is very slim, I hope you realize that. There are 4 different female bodies coming out soon from different creators, not counting ANIMA. All of these bodies won’t be able to get clothing support. Open source sounds great and all, but the average consumer isn’t going to care or know what that fully means.
