  4. It’s time for ROC to realize we’re just here for the nostalgia, nothing else. It’s the reason why a myriad of us are showing up every week. It’s not their mangled lore that pulls us, their forced wars and outcomes, or their substandard NPC King. It’s the immersive build that I’d wish they’d just leave us alone to enjoy. It’s unfortunate to see it so tainted by admin meddling, it’s the best most of us have ever seen.

    Honestly, it’s insulting to think Goat had anything to do with this. If anything, the more I’m at RoC, the more I miss sims like Reign of Fire, Fire and Blood, and even ROIAF despite it’s ups and downs over the years. If anyone wants to call the ignorants on their bluff and create a better sim, please do. ROC is a good test dummy, it shows the interest is there.

    • The interest is there by so many of the same players that taint the genre anyhow. And as long as people keep playing in these corrupt machinations that keep coming by the same people in power, they will keep dominating. And players that are there for story, will continue to be screwed over. And the players that follow this corrupt shit show, will continue to get their play time, keep control and you players that aren’t in the main clique, are nothing but background players. The communities are full of Doms who aren’t dominants at all, but instead live out their control issue fantasies and openly neglect and abuse their submissives and submissives who collar hop and bed hop like it’s a game. RL D/s can also be toxic as hell if you aren’t carefully screening your options and communicating with other submissives to keep a clear list of who the ‘bad’ ones are in the group.

    In the real world, it’s a power exchange not a power grab. SL forgets that.

    Years as a RL lifestyle person and years as a kink educator have given me the sense to avoid the SL scene altogether.

    • Never worked or even looked at shit with a SL ‘decorator’ but it says 20k PRIM FULL SIM not 20k lindens. They also said it was done in 3 days — and with how it was phrased, I assume all the items were freely rezzed out as part of the designing and the person didn’t have to pay for anything.

      20k lindens is also something like 78 dollars so idk, not something I would ever do but that’s not exactly super expensive.

    #12 Slink and Belleza have lost popularity partly because the makers lost interest in them. Belleza’s last update was Fall 2021, and their bodies have been 50% off since then. That’s definitely a sign that nothing further will be done with them. Slink’s maker put focus on creating the Cinnamon & Chai body with a new UV mapping. I think that body is less popular than Signature’s Alice, lol.  

    Maitreya still receives a lot of support from designers. The grim reaper isn’t coming any time soon.

    #23 I’ve seen stuff at the Skin Fair be put on a weekend sale right after the event ended. There is a reason why designers do this. The strategy is called “Loss Leader Pricing”. An item is priced low in hopes it generates traffic and new customers to the store. There they may purchase regular priced items. Weekend sales, and giving away gifts, wouldn’t be so popular among designers if they were losing money from doing it.

  22. I had my ’20 minutes’ with #29/#30. I can say what this person posted #29/#30 is 100% absolutely telling the truth (although I didn’t last long enough to give him any Lindens thank goodness). But he’s very glib, smooth operator who will use every trick in the book to butter you up. The first day we hung out it was kinda sweet. But after the 2nd and 3rd day I started to get the idea this guy was a player but figured I’d try not to read TOO much into it.

  31. #4 What’s Epiphany? Can someone solve this question please? Another brand or event? Never heard of it. What are they accused for? I can see a post from Scandalize owner and a person commenting under it but don’t get the whole idea. They ask her to join but they talk in bad terms for her? That’s the issue ? I know scandalize is a copycat. But so as so many other stores in SL. And some people act like they don’t see it. I mean Seniha is a copycat too but she is licking asses so yeah they shut up for her. SL world is full of cliches. They think that we don’t know of it? Please we are not that dump. Trend originals is another copycat too and I have heard tones for her brand. But events still support her why?

    • Epiphany used to be a major gacha event. They had a pretty cool set up where you could turn in the items you didn’t want for points that could go toward exclusive items. Years ago they had some of the top brands in SL, but it started sinking before the gacha ban came along.

      • Freya is on sale for 1250L right now. It also has been updated for BOM.They updated the developer mesh kit so it is easier to create mesh for now. So don’t spread misinformation.       • I’m actually surprised it hasn’t gone back up in popularity since the most recent patch and the sale. I picked up the fatpack of bodies and would totally use Isis if anyone made clothes for it. Freya is way too thick for me, but the mod version where you can reduce the lag-inducing features yourself is awesome.

  36. 12 – As unfortunate as it is that Freya has so little support, those others are overdue a slashing. Creators are finally starting to feel less obligated to make things for Maitreya if they don’t want to as its popularity slips, and they never should have been required to or face the angry backlash of basics.

    23- That’s not even true, a lot of the time weekend sale items don’t even have the most recent bodies a creator is supporting, they choose such old releases(totally fair, the sales are cheap as fuck). You’ll probably get the item on sale eventually, but it’ll be a lot longer than a week after the event or release. It’ll be months from most stores; the only time you’ll see otherwise is creators that have very few releases at all to choose from, and yes those people are shooting themselves in the foot.

    • Maitreya’s popularity has slipped? In what universe? I’ve seen exactly one store that has gone to a Legacy only business model. No stores are creating solely for Kupra or Reborn. The other bodies are pretty much irrelevant.

      • From my own telemetry scripts which tells me what body type was opened vs what was worn.

      • Your personal sales definitely don’t reflect SL as a whole. Your clothing might not look good on those bodies, which is why they aren’t buying it.

      • The numbers are exceedingly similar demo vs sold (opened or worn) units. Reborn has a lot of momentum right now. More than any other brand and I do expect Reborn to pass Kupra for 3rd place no later than end of this year.

      • I’ll continue to stick with Maitreya until a body comes out that isn’t made for huge asses and boobs and looks disproportionate no matter how you try to edit it. Not everyone wants to follow the trend of having a bottom half of their body look like a chicken leg and their boobs like balloons.

      • That’s it in a nutshell. I wouldn’t mind having a plumper body, but I like things proportionate. Kupra and Reborn are so disproportionate that they’re cartoonish. I’ve tinkered with both to see how small those asses can go, and they just don’t go small. I also don’t like torpedo tits. Reborn pisses me off because of the fingers too. Ever see a fat woman with skinny, long fingers? I’m a plus-size person in RL and my ass, tits, and fingers are nothing like what’s done with Kupra and Reborn.

        I wish Maitreya would put some effort into doing a plus size model like they did for the petites and flat chests (and fix the shoulders). For all we know they might be, but they’re very quiet right now.

      • Since I have a feeling you don’t understand this, I’m gonna point out that if Maitreya ever does fix those busted shoulders, every dress, top, and jacket you’ve ever bought for it will no longer fit properly.  👍 

      • Reborn and Legacy are both pretty versatile, anyone saying otherwise has no idea how to make shapes. I’ve seen very petite looking avas with Reborn as well, they do include a deformer to make the butt smaller.

      • I don’t go by surveys, I go by telemetry data. Surveys are not scientific or accurate. They might show where people are more enthusiastic (in your case) about a specific brand because they are highly motivated to return a survey if they think their personal brand will get more exposure. Hard data however is usually much different from what the overly loud minority will want you to think.

      • I actually have two excellent computers, and I also own Legacy. I am neither an age player, or a furry. I wear Maitreya for the most part, because a lot of the older clothing that I love isn’t Legacy-compatible, for one. Secondly, even on my computers, the HUD for Legacy lags. I love Legacy to death, but it gets to be a real pain in the ass switching back and forth all the time.

      • I have a lot of friends who still rock maitreya and look good. Some use deformers, some work some kinda magic. They haven’t switched to Legacy for a lot of reasons such as the hud being a lag fest. I’ve gotten a few to consider ReBorn just because they see me being slender with it. I do not have a huge butt or thighs but a more… normalish build. It’s got curves, you can’t take those away but it’s a super flexible body that I wish more would give the chance. I came from Legacy and that damn hud sometimes made me want to scream because all I’d need to do is alpha something or change my nail polish and the damn thing takes 100 years to load.

    • I have a slender built Reborn body and have been mistaken for legacy quite a bit. It’s 100% possible to get really great shapes out of it, have a hud that works, and extremely low complexity. 2,430 complexity is great, I have clothes heavier than that.

    don’t get me wrong, I hope it doesn’t, but most of the users are from US and it’s not going to be too much longer before what is going on significantly effects the majority population… can SL stand without the $$ the Americans dump in?
    Just curious what others are thinking about this. It’s the first time legitimately for me since I have been in here, 10+ years, that I’ve thought there is legitimate threat to it ending for good.

        I will say this change is going to effect every country on different levels (Africa and Middle East are worst off; they rely heavily on grain from Ukraine that will not be grown/delivered now, the official growing season has began and nothing is growing so….). But I am speaking of Americans specifically because Americans are the ones that carry this platform, specifically, as far as engagement and spending goes.

        It seems as though most people haven’t even thought about any of this at all; curious considering this platform seems to mean a lot to them… but if they’re not even aware of all of this going on, then I guess it maybe makes sense… not paying attention to either life 🤷‍♀️

        That’s why I am curious what people think is going to happen, after this winter… will SL survive? Or will it go down, just like 5 guys burgers and fries will, because it’s not sustainable at that cost to the average person?

      • Um… yeah. 5 guys is hella expensive. I ate there 10 years ago, got that exact order and it was 30 something bucks.

        Canned and frozen veggies/meat can be cheap. You can also get fresh stuff on sale and freeze what can be frozen. I could easily feed 3 people on $50 a week.

        A lot of places are offering higher wages than minimum, my monthly utilities and rent haven’t gone up, gas is higher but that just means I drive less and am more conservative which isn’t a problem, I don’t have health insurance (YAY! sarcasm) so my medical expenses is just when I get too sick to exist, and then go to the ER and they pat me on the head and send me home and then charge me $20,000 that I’ll never pay, and that’s never changed.

        Mine is an observation about how factually deficient the Maitreya mesh is. There’s absolutely nothing you can do, regardless of deformers or shaping “expertise”, to make that lump into anything that appears natural and human from every angle. Maitreya users depend on skin detailing to differentiate their “ass” from their thigh, and even skin creators have a hard time. That crease shadow rarely lines up where it should be, and even if it looks like it is when the wearer is standing up perfectly straight, it smears down the back of their thigh when they move. Their best option is staying very slim with that area fairly flat, so the crappy mesh doesn’t turn jagged and pointy from being stretched beyond its optimal size. Anyone who thinks they have a good “thicc” Maitreya is delusional; it doesn’t exist, and if they give themselves a thorough 360 degree looking over they’ll see it, no matter how much they deny it.

        That’s before I even get started on those shapeless shoulders and tube arms that end in the ugliest wrists in SL- shit looks like the chewed end of a straw. I didn’t even touch on how the torso is just as featureless as the arms- no tummy/muscle shape, barely even a spine indentation- also depending on skin creators for any type of detail. It’s a bargain body for those who lack aesthetic standards. “Low polygon” is not worth that much sacrifice. Arguing its popularity is a pointless logical fallacy. Cheap has always been popular, but that’s never made it less ugly.

      • I’ve got Legacy. I quit using it because it’s a system resource hog, and I absolutely DESPISE their HUD with its separate network connection. The Mesh Project can go eff itself with that nonsense.

I just noticed it that more and more bloggers on Twitter etc. We’re talking about it or mentioned Maitreya in their posts again, when they before were mostly wearing Legacy.
    And what killed the SLink and Belleza bodies? Well some greed with their pricing for feet and hands and totally no support and updates. And really SLink is the most hideous body on the grid …human proportions?!, comes in even before Kupra that at least doesn’t even tries to claim to be realistic.

        Legacy bodies don’t load for me until dead last if at all on a comp with a very high end GPU, lots of RAM, and that runs games at high FPS on ultra settings. It’s poorly optimized.

        The breasts on Legacy aren’t what I want shape wise and don’t like it when you try to change that. Yes, I know about Legacy perky, etc.. but clothing designers are dropping that.

        It costs 5k and isn’t optimized or the shape I want. I’m not spending 5k on something I don’t like so someone I’ve never met won’t think I’m “basic”.

        I can’t wear eBody without feeling oversexualized with a huge butt. Even on zero sliders, the butt is huge. I’m not looking to be “sexy”, I want normal proportions. This is eBody’s only bad point for me, if it wasn’t styled for Sir Mixx-A-Lot, I’d have switched.

        Kupra is a fetish body. I want nothing to do with fetishes or sex in SL. That’s why I hang on a kid av most of the time, to get away from that end of SL.

        The only body with decent support that isn’t a mess of polygons or extreme proportions IS Maitreya. If you’d like to change that and make a better looking normal LLUV mesh body type with tons of support/clothes/etc, be my guest.

      • I’ve a very basic computer and have no issues with legacy loading, legacy tends to load quicker for me than any other body.

      • What settings are you running? Without fail, Legacy loads the slowest for me. Maitreya and Reborn load the fastest. Then the Belleza and Kupra bodies. I’ve tested it over and over again, Legacy loads last if at all. I had friends switch from Legacy to Reborn and suddenly they’d rez for me. I’m not going to run SL on potato settings just so a poorly optimized body can load.

      • OK, as someone who’s migrated from Maitreya to Reborn: Deformers. I use them all the time to get a smaller chest and smaller butt. At the same time, I love that my body actually has some thickness in the middle, like maybe there are organs in there or something.

        At the same time, I’ve tried to rehabilitate my Maitreya with deformers—but they can’t make the curves on Maitreya smoother. Reborn is way more flexible than Kupra, and way more optimized than Legacy, and a few deformers make it perfect.

      • I really liked the Reborn but that butt…. if there are deformers that work, I may give it another look. Which did you use?

      • I’ve found via demo if you want a small butt on Reborn, you have to have no body fat at all. It makes the butt normal sized on 0. So for Reborn, you need to be skinny to not get the huge junk in the trunk.

      • My comp was custom built to run high end games and cost me a pretty penny even with using parts sites to get the best prices. My GPU is probably better than yours considering the chip shortage and the fact most people try running SL on integrated GPUs and GPUs not meant for gaming. My computer isn’t the issue when everything else in SL loads fine and I’m running games on ultra with 40+ FPS. It’s Legacy being poorly optimized.

        But Ddn’t worry, that heart inside the body loads fine just like the brain inside Catwa. That’s how I know it’s those two that aren’t optimized.

    She has great makeup and do alot of sales and also give alot of store credit for people having her makeup for free…come on…do be a salty ass bish.

      • If she would do more of it in BOM, it would be worth buying. Unfortunately applier makeup goes all glowy and discolored under local lights; I have to figure people who like it must play on low graphics/super bright EEPs(CalWL, Nam’s Optimals) rather than going for realistic environments.

    • I agree. Kris Creations aka boulderman — or whatever his name is so fake. He preys on women in group chat and on flickr. Sponsors should not associate with him or his alts.

    • Sadly he will keep on because females will just suck up his lies and put their heads in the sand especially when he has no money at all, steals from Mommy and some naïve female paid for his Pro Flickr account. Then they will cry and moan when he blocks and mutes them after speaking with them a couple of days.

    13: People change. She was a right arse to me in one Sim but I got off my ego and attitude and gave a fresh start. Every interaction I have with her since then has been nothing but sweet.

    • #13 No it sounds like they’re exactly the same. You seem naive enough to believe that “sweet” side of them is the real them. Anyone with long-term dealings with her knows she sucks up harder than a hoover to anyone with power, popularity or status until she’s ready to “PVP” against them. If she really had changed she would simply put that in her profile. That she changed and to kindly ask for a fresh start with people. There is another controversial figure in the GOT scene who did exactly that. And they’ve changed a lot. You don’t see their name popping up here for a reason. But Forgotten Whimsy or whateverthefuck they go by now has nothing but excuses and blame for others. That’s all you need to know about her but you probably will have to learn it the hard way.

      Best of luck RoC! I honestly have nothing against the sim or most the people. Some fantastic writers there but a few bad apples really can spoil the bunch.

    • I love it when people speak the truth and the staff decides they are going to dismiss ALL the hate and real concerns with their sim. It’s obvious who you are. It’s like when a sim asks for suggestions to make things better… and then shit all over them.

  56. #6 – River Morgan / CoyoteRiver / BenWanderin / AlexiaRae / Prairie / a million other alts it’s sooo obvious, you use the same shapes and clothes and crappy edits and can’t adjust your eyes to save your life. If you want people to stick around, stop reinventing yourself every third week and deleting and blocking everyone when you do.
