  2. One thing is for certain, the amount of people that have been run off SL due to drama is staggering. You can’t escape drama in RL or in SL. Trust me when I say this. What they do in SL, they have done or are currently doing it now in RL. The only difference is they have an avatar that looks different, but remember the operator still behaves the same. When you find yourself surrounded with toxic people or intolerable situations, it is best to just leave. Why stay and subject yourself to their illness? You can leave SL you can’t leave RL.

But, the senility in the old head must have kicked in. We don’t ban because of tipping. The economy is tough for a lot of people and they are here to have fun. What we do ban are for drama queens and people that just want to cause trouble. Which obviously you are bitter about something that happened over a month ago. Seriously, grow up. To the person that commented about the club is about River, yes it is, was the goal of it. Why should he be placed to “bring” crowds for other DJ’s. Are they not good enough to draw their own? Or, when he does a favor for a friend at their club, they compete against him with other events. So, thank you for the free publicity.     Thank you for making me famous. I banned two DUMB-ASSES who thought that playing nasty games with me at my sets were cool. Misbehaving like really old angry drama queens is really lame. This happened quite a while ago and they still angry. I feel quite chuffed about the obsession with me. LOL – It was never about tips.     • No. But there is the “flagging” feature and they get a bunch of folks to flag it and then it gets auto removed.

      I think I will change it the number of flags it takes to remove. Keep those folks on their toes.

      Sometimes I don’t post comments because I feel like it goes “too far”. You don’t have a choice in that. Try not mentioning someone’s fat ass or RL children in comments and I’ll allow them.

    here you can see they have different styles, only similarity i see is the pupil, but even then, he can’t make claims to that style since its been around for a long time, and it is very common style used for demonic characters, here is a good example from FA and i found another eye creator who did something similar

    Regardless if you have made eyes with a certain concept, someone else somewhere is going to do the same, they may have either seen what you did, liked it, and made their own version of it or saw someone else that is NOT YOU and got inspired, that is how ART WORKS, artists have been inspired by one another for ages now, its not a new thing for characters to have those types of eyes, you see it in anime quite alot and other cartoon shows, do i believe UMBRA saw their eyes and made their own?, its a possibility but so is the possibility she saw someone else do it that isn’t on sl or from FA or anywhere, there is so many options, I have seen UMBRA have characters with those type of eyes for a long time now, BUT WHO KNOWS, only way to find out is to TALK TO HER, not post a secret about her in hopes it tarnishes her name.

There’s still some work or expense in trying to find matching body skins (if they’re still available, why do you DO this to me Essences?), or tinting tattoos to cover the HORRIBLE NAIL MATCHING ISSUES that you do get, or breaking out some bento slink hands because the skin IS recent enough to have slink hand/feet appliers. But god, those heads are worth it for the way they bring so much older inventory back to life.

      I guess it’s about how you define “expensive.”

      I also have an Evo X head. I am not a blind creature of brand loyalty! SL needs some more meaningful comparison shopping.

      They had to pick banning gachas, or losing thousands of dollars cause the countries (primarily EU ones) would simply place a ban on SL… that means lost revenue from those who pay for premium and so on because the ban would mean the people of those countries would no longer be able to log onto SL.

      • The push to consolidate the adult sims and the creation of Zindra was so that they could justify closing the teen grid and merging that player base into regular SL. I would imagine it was a money decision, just like it will be a money decision if they close them entirely to “clean up” SL’s image if they are viewing another sale to some other entity down the road. I would think the remaining gambling sims will be closed next, since they are removing gachas, before they go after the adult content.

There’s an approved vendor to which a board with potential prizes is displayed just like how the gachas were, and then the prize you could purchase stays up for some time and it goes at random. So, you won’t have to keep buying the same thing over and over. A bit like how casper rez vendors look. Just you’re not pressing arrows to look at items it displays at random the prize you can purchase.

    Long story short, the policy is no more unknown items to be for sale. Which is good more traffic for merchants, less unhappy customers.

    • How many hours did it take for the creator to work on those eyes in comparison to the overall customer base they have? If they know they only have 1k followers, and usually sell about 100 dollars worth a month but do have you know, bills to pay and want to use SL as a method to pay said bills. They will raise their cost. The only way creators lower their prices is if they have MORE people to actually buy their products. They won’t suddenly lower their prices because there’s a less customer base, on the contrary they have to make up for the loss of headcount. It’s not GREED, it’s logic. I guess you’ve never studied much? Or is this you whining because you can’t afford to buy something that you want, but you got to find an excuse for not buying it.     • #47: Mug is using an exploit where you set all your LODs to 0, and since rigged mesh doesn’t break a mesh into LODs apart properly, the complexity count is actually inaccurate. This is something the Lindens are working on correcting with Project ARCtan led by Vir Linden. In other words, the complexity count you’re seeing is a lie, their product is still flooding viewers with invisible high triangle counts which will cause more lag than most other products.

      This is the same exploit badly made mesh creators use to get away with low complexity on products with a million triangles. That’s all going to come crashing down once the exploit is fixed, however.

      • It’s pretty easy to see for yourself. Rez one of their products out and zoom out. It disappears instantly with no steps to poly reduction. If you’re on default viewer setting LOD 1.25, it will disappear within a meter. If you’re on Firestorm setting default LOD 2, it will disappear in 3 meters or less, depending on how large the object is. This is because the Medium, Low and Lowest LODs are set to 0.

        For everyone keeping score and not able to test this, here is their Rita Tee from the most recent Kustom9: https://bit.ly/3s40Jmw and https://bit.ly/37wIPiC It becomes triangles on a distance of 1m.

        The reason why LOD is important is so you don’t have to fully render everything at a distance. Don’t raise your LOD view settings because it will render high poly mesh from a distance, causing strain on the machine. Rigged mesh worn on the avatar body does not collapse like rezzed out mesh does, so Mug is lagging no matter what.

    • I don’t care if it’s “less weighty.” No mod scripted items = no buy from me. It won’t matter if the scripts are “less weighty” if people are walking around with a full outfit of no mod garbage each with it’s own unused script.

      If it’s not mod you don’t truly own it.

    • Check triangles on Mug’s fishnet top and especially bottoms (Shay). Bottom is 1.4m. That’s more than my entire avatar times 2 at the time of writing this post, with the mesh body, head, hair, clothes and some jewelry. Not all of her designs are that heavy, but many are.
      Although to be fair, some creators get similar values even without many sizes linked together. Lunar for example is just plain terrible.

If you’re thinking “well at least the customer can see what they’re getting”, well you’re right, the chance aspect is gone, but now products are locked behind new paywalls that still prey upon people with low impulse control. It’s just trading one shitty practice for another one.

In fact, some stores already do the solution to this: keep breaking the outfit up like they were for the gacha, sell it as individual pieces in individual colours, and if they do fatpacks, ONLY offer them as individual fatpacks per each piece at full price. That way you have to buy multiple fatpacks for what is essentially one outfit and you make up their lost profits from gacha.

    Echoing the concerns stated in #60, never underestimate the ability of stores who were operating in bad faith to find new ways to milk their target audience.

    • I’m ambivalent about your comment. I actually will say you are right about those that do steal content directly from websites such as turbosquid, or those that really only retexture. Those can sell their fatpacks at cheap prices (they shouldn’t do it at all, but assuming that someone wont stop them, then do it for cheap).

      But if you made something from scratch, then at that point you are actually rightfully the copyright holder. It’s the same as complaining about Chanel creating a dress that’s over 6k. Is it greed?

      • The point I was making was less about product quality and more about intent. If an outfit has no logical purpose to be split into as many pieces as possible other than “because money,” then it’s absolutely greed (also RIP to your attachment count). In most instances, it’s concievably reasonable to pull an outfit into 2 or 3 pieces with huds to change details on them; that’s what most stores do. But if the store starts pulling similar products into now 5 or 6 pieces then treating each piece as a full-priced purchase and then fatpack for each? It’s the literal definition of just trying to mine more revenue out of the people who were buying from you. Products being of inferior quality or integrity in creation only serve to amplify the problem more from that point.

        Using your Chanel example, this would be like them selling a nice bowed blouse and skirt with matching belt with lace-up heeled sandals. Maybe they’ve sold something like this before, but it was the blouse, the skirt with the belt, and the shoes. Now they’re charging you to buy: the blouse, the skirt, the heels, the laces for the heels, the pussycat bow that was tied around the collar, the belt for the skirt, the modesty tanktop under the blouse that was previously sewn in, etc. Yeah, you’re still buying Chanel, however the value of the product didn’t suddenly change. The price you’re being asked to pay is all that changed because they’re asking you to now assign individual values to components as a consumer.

        As a creator myself, I’m not going this route simply because it’s almost like a big middle finger to the people who buy your products and support you, and really looks like a profit margin is better than what a creator delivers to people.

But the shoes are for the outfit, but don’t need to be worn with it. I don’t care. The issue is when said outfit is in 3400090 different colors.

    I’m going to start off first by saying, clothing and accessory gachas are a shitty practice. As well as other things where the only difference in the prizes are colors. If people want one particular piece of clothing, they should be able to buy it outright. Or choose their own color.

    Second, I’m going to admit that my opinion here will not be the popular one, and I’m okay with that. It’s my opinion and I’m entitled to it, just like everyone else is entitled to theirs.

    I NEVER play gachas that have clothes or accessories in them. Mainly because none of them are for the avatar I use (the kemono), but if they were, I still wouldn’t play them anyway. I have my own reasons for this, mostly being that I am not great at making outfits, but I understand others are amazing at it, and that some items in clothing gachas DO look good.

    The types of gachas I played were for what some would call stupid little nick-knacks that go around your house. Say, small figurines or like POP! funko things. There was a really cute one with a collection of pigs in teacups.

    These are the types that I enjoy collecting. I like the fact that chance comes into it. I am fine knowing that I am much less likely to get the rares.

    So those are the types of gachas I am going to miss. I am all for getting rid of the other types.

    WOW, so much here to address, and I don’t mean that in a bad way necessarily… I’ll break it down further, please stick with me.

    The population knew what they were paying for. They knew they had a low chance of getting a rare or ultra rare and knew that they would most likely get a common. If the creator said “Play 5 times and you are guaranteed a rare!” that would be a scam.
    Even simpler, if a creator advertised that the chances of getting a rare were higher than they actually were, THAT would be a scam. But if a creator said: “You have a 95% chance of getting common, 5% to get rare.” and those were the actual odds, it is NOT a scam.
    The difficulty in this comes in us not actually being able to check if these are the true odds or not. So technically, yes, it COULD be a scam, but to just declare it one outright without being able to know is a stretch. At best, it is shitty business practice.
    Sure, we can ban these businesses from doing them, but if we allow them, we can also see which businesses are the ones doing shady business such as selling the gachas so we know which ones to avoid.

    Specifically, “for products you actually want.” Again, why would someone spend money on stuff they don’t want? I get its in a gacha set, but if they think the business practice is such shit to begin with (not arguing that it isn’t), why are they supporting it at all by playing the gachas? Sure, I get that it may have an item they want, but from the way people talk, they seem to hate the creators so much and don’t want to support them, yet they do anyway?
    But yes, I CAN see the reason this would be an argument FOR banning them. Just devil’s advocate.

    A. Make a fatpack with it all.
    B. Sell the items individually.
    C. Sell items in same color scheme/cluster.

    Having to go through a single gacha to get like 40 of the same thing and not what you wanted, and through 10k L is ridiculous. So yeah. Down with the gachas.

  68. 4. Actually didn’t realize that so many of my folders are empty now all of a sudden after updating. I hope this isn’t a firestorm issue.

    • Most of them are not empty, but they may appear empty until you click on them- but I was having this occasional bug before the update, so I don’t know why the poster thinks the new Firestorm update has anything to do with it.

    • Few months back I had to switch to a new viewer because it showed my folders to be empty. Even after clicking them. I panicked and logged on the original SL viewer and they was there. I combed FS website to see if there was a fix but nothing worked. I finally switched to Catznip Permanently. To bad, I liked FS.

    • It seems to happen when you have too many items without any sub directories or have a super large inventory, also happens when you haven’t been logged out in a while.

    • Try clearing your inventory cache and relogging. Usually clears up the problem.

    • I have items that wandered out of their folders, and ended up in Objects, Lost and Found, and other folders. It’s ridiculous.

    • Nothing to do with the new update this issue has been going on for months, I find if you keep your inventory tidy and below 90k the issue is resolved, however if that’s not an option clear your inventory cache and relog that usually fixes it when it happens to me although I sometimes have to relog 2 or 3 times after clearing cache… It’s a nuisance I know but not related to the updated.

  69. 3 – I play enough of that ‘certain game’s’ entire series with mods to know that head looks way different than the ghouls in it. It modeled the actual hanging flesh, the topology is not made for games, and the art style doesn’t look the same. Inspired? Sure. The artist had their own take on it and that’s cool. You can see it on the inworld model of that head that it is not made for any game, and it’s textured very unlike the game either.

    *Also, the head is SLUV. Do you know how hard it is to SLUV an existing model? You might as well make a new head.

    I’m getting really sick of these false positive ripped mesh claims, because it’s starting to make people doubt the real ones since it’s used as a bullying tactic.

    Step the fuck back and stop trying to call out ripped mesh. Let the adults do it with actual comparisons because the average person is not taking it seriously anymore or not trusting claims thanks to morons like you.

There were secrets about “CC collapsing into two” and that’s the reason why. Nell Mochi and Paul Dunn returned to CC after Sutton failed. I have left CC before but I would never poach residents. It’s nutty to return to a sim that you tried to destroy. It’s also true that Hades got deceived by Chris Winchester. Hades was in a relationship with Chris’s alter Lucy.

      there are tons of stores that have zero gacha and make money. these creators get undercut by the marketplace and gacha resellers in world and you’d think they’d be jumping for joy over this ban. less work monthly, more traffic in store (the gacha stores are EMPTY 90% of the time unless there’s a sale), can do more flash sales in between events, and managing inventory through caspervend is easier. i can’t think of any other explanation for the backlash other than they want to exploit people.

      it’s not even a “resist change” thing because the excuses and workarounds literally run back to gambling.

      the good thing about this ban is that i feel more people will come back to SL. the bad thing is that i feel these creators will end up doing subscription boxes (powder pack) to fill the gambling void.

        this creator is talented and can easily just make money selling full sets or items individually. people have asked him to do that. his stuff sells on marketplace easily but each set is so padded full of commons you will spend a ton trying to get ONE specific common (or if you give up). i have been to this store and it lies empty most of the time because of the gacha. he could easily just sell sets outright or a la carte and have a steady but slow stream of income (like most stores who do not rely on gacha as a main revenue stream) however they WANT to exploit others and decided to base a business model off of it. others see that model and copy it, which is why gacha has gotten so bad.

        these creators (especially the clothing creators that do this) are worried that they can’t pad a set with shitty commons (consisting of multiple recolours of the same item) anymore. they’re going to have to play fairly and they don’t like that.

Sad that people are using Petrichor as the example and not the systems other creators came up with that have the ability for people to essentially troll and create more of an issue.       • Faking medical and financial hardships to wring money out of her simps.

      • If you actually look at her skins they don’t even line up properly on most mesh bodies. The only reason they usually sell is because Trap, an actual creative person, makes her a pattern to put on top of them. Trap’s items would likely sell just as well or better without her skin under it as it’s own layer.

      Doing all this while in private Discord groups 24/7 trash talking other creators that make fantasy related items, ones that actually make original content.

      I have no doubt she would have been scheming as soon as she found out gachas were on the way out.     • It’s amazing how people bitch about rules when they aren’t the one paying the sim fees. Don’t like it, don’t visit, it’s that simple. There’s way too many entitled people in SL who thinks the rules don’t apply.

    • Orrrrrrrrrr… they can just speak in a private message since it’s just them talking to each other all the time. I did not make this secret but am a frequent visitor of the spa and also agree that its pretty desperate if you talk or sexxor your partner in local because you need attention that bad.

      • You’re talking about a public place where people show up naked, stand around awkwardly and hope someone will fuck them. The desperation in that alone is thick. People who show up as a couple and engage in local chat on a game that’s meant for social interaction? I am not on that meme but it seems relatively pointless.

      • The point is the whole reason they do it is to be obnoxious attention whores. Everyone else in that room is talking to people as well, but in IMs, and they put their inane prattle in local as some kind of meta commentary on the silence. Imagine if everyone there was trying to have their conversations in local- small space, usually at least 30-40 people around- no one would actually want that.
