      • OK so I have some questions though- if her meshes are just downloaded and sold without them being her work, how is she able to change the fit/rig when there are issues? I know she doesn’t always bother to update, but sometimes she does- I’ve personally received purchases with changes in the mesh to improve fit. Is the allegation that she buys meshes and then alters them for all the bodies she supports, and would that not require a pretty in depth knowledge of how to make clothes if so? Also, how is it that no one else is buying those exact same meshes, because I don’t see her stuff in other stores? I’m not saying everyone calling her a thief is lying, but I’m seeing some holes in this story.

      • Ok so weight painting is part of Rigging, it doesn’t require you to have indepth knowledge of modeling to be a rigger. Separate department, similar to how animation is different from modeling.

        Also something to keep in mind here is that knowing how to model something is irrelevant. Knowing how to do it, doesn’t excuse you stealing it because you COULD do it yourself anyway. That’s like saying I could afford to buy this dress, but im gonna steal it, but it’s ok because I could afford it if I wanted to. Another example I know how to model a dress, but if I go download 10 dresses and release 10 of them in a month …..how is that ok?

        Now on Rebeca’s knowledge. When she was -falsely- accusing Spoiled of cobybotting her, her response to people saying “that’s a completely different topology and the back of the bodysuit is different, her response was “she just used the snakehook brush and modified.” Which anyone who has ever even attempted to make a single mesh in zbrush would know how ridiculous that statement is, that’s not what a snakehook brush does.

        The other day, someone was asking for help because their mesh in zbrush wasn’t smoothing when they subdivided and her response was “what if it’s your matcap?” I mean that is just a joke, there is no way this girl knows anything about zbrush. I know this all sounds jibberish to someone who isn’t a 3d artist, but it’s just ridiculous comments to make. You can ask anyone who works in zbrush.

        She recently posted a video of a doll head being sculpted on by someone. Trying to prove she made the doll herself, but 2 weeks ago she made a FB post (which she deleted but there are screenshots of it) saying she had happened to record herself making it. Yet the video was not posted. 2 days ago, she posted 2 short clips (20-30 seconds) of some jumbled up clips that made no sense, but in them she was using the undo history to play through a total of 30 actions lol.

        then yesterday she posted a 30min video on youtube of someone modeling a doll, not from scratch, but on a base mesh (which is fine that’s what a base mesh is for). Yet the video is completely different from the gifs she posted 2 days prior. I told Skye in my conversation with her, that posting something now, 2 weeks after the fact is irrelevant. 2 weeks is enough time to re-create a doll, and make up a video. In 2 weeks she could have even hired someone to make that doll and record themselves. It absolutely doesn’t make sense, because according to her own post she had the video 2 weeks ago. So why all the hiding, and lying, and changing up stories, deleting posts and back tracking?

        The only holes I see are in Rebeca’s “truth”. Reality of it is any of us who do our own work, the moment you ask us to provide evidence, it would be posted within 30 seconds. Because so much goes into creating original mesh that it’s impossible not leave a trail of files and evidence in your working folders.

Nor do the videos show her model or anything resembling what the doll she is selling looks like at Epiphany, it’s her attempt at modeling that doll in order to cover her ass, and she was failing at it. Which is why it took her over a week to post a video she claimed she had from the day she was called out.

        I have no horse in this race, i have nothing to gain from her getting kicked out of Epiphany (the event she released the doll at) There is no ulterior motive. I simply saw her get called out, I looked at the evidence and based on my extensive experience on the subject made a statement about it.

        I hate people who steal other artist’s work and profit from it. If you are defending it you are the kind of person I despise as well. You can whine about me speaking the truth all you want, it won’t make me stop.

        Also don’t feel too bad about Rebeca, last year she had no problems dragging a smaller brand and -FALSELY- accusing them of copybotting her mesh, when the said brand had not, no matter how much useful and -MEANINGFUL- evidence they provided she was not backing down. There are clear evidence of it in her “videos” that she did not model it, in fact the videos she is posting is not even of her modeling it, it’s her trying to replicate the model after the fact. Anyone with even beginner knowledge of 3d modeling would see through it.

        It’s completely up to her how she handles her events, but she can’t complain about people being upset because she is refusing to look at evidence right in front of her for certain brands. Also this is not a case of IP infringement, this is a case of downloaded meshes and sold against TOS of the item. Exactly what you all canceled Cheeky Pea for.

        Furthermore that Doll from artstation only offers a standard license, a commercial license is not even available for purchase. even if there was a commercial license, redistribution of the content is against the TOS.

        Last but not least, if you even disregard all the above, this is a template mesh, she bought a template modified it and is selling it at Epiphany which is advertised as an original mesh event.

        So she is not even upholding the rules of her own event here. I have backed Skye in the past personally, which is why I’m so disappointed to see her let CD get away with this.

    You should see the clothes from Blueberry. I really like her store but I also like having a decent framerate.

    • BB polycount is a bit high but nothing close to some other brands like valkore. Granted I haven’t seen their recent stuff so it may have gotten that bad, however the issue with BB is the excessive use of textures, (which is not their fault that is actually fault of LL) Having 12 texture sheets on a single pair of pants is far bigger contributor to lag than the extra polys. That’s not to say it’s ok to have a mesh that is 300k in polys, but a 10k poly pants with 12 textures is far more of a performance hit than a 300k mesh with 1 texture sheet.

      However I don’t really blame the designers for using excessive textures, LL has not added any tools for creators that have been invented over the past 15 years in order to extract higher quality from textures without overloading GPUs or using high resolution textures. SL lacks the tools to make content look like what is acceptable in 2021 as a visual standard without overloading the textures and draw calls.

      When you don’t have the tools, you either have to make shit that looks like it’s from 2005 and no one would want, or make stuff that looks better but well lags the hell out of people’s PCs.

      While you can reduce polycount for SL without losing visual fidelity and there is absolutely no excuse to go that high for meshes, there is nothing you can do to optimize textures and keep your quality up in SL.

      • even with the smaller image size, over texturing is still a problem on sl something ment to be small doesn’t need 30 1024 textures on it, so it’s a bit of both. SL could run better if we didn’t have 30 textures on something held in your hand.

      • Absolutely, that is because draw calls are not part of the complexity/LI calculations.

      • Go and inspect Dust Bunny and Nutmeg so many 1024 textures by “creators” who just lag all of SL as they don’t know how to make things properly. At least Dist Bunny makes her according to her claims but her textures are a disaster for computers.

        The worst example I have seen though was Apple falls skybox house. Even small details had 1024 textures slapped all over and one was all on full bright (dude it is not 2010 anymore).

      • The reason I don’t blame the creators is because if they are making a living on SL, they can be the good person optimizing and using say a 512 texture for a vase, the next brand next to them will use a 1k texture on it and it will look x4 more detailed, since a 1k map is 4 512 maps.

        There is no way around that, while with geometry, you can retopologize and get the exact same shape with 1/20th if not more of the geometry some of these brands spend on their mesh. You CAN have your quality and still optimize your tris count. However you can’t do that with textures, even if your UVs are super optimized and you have less 1% dead space in your UVs, a 1024×1024 can only hold so many pixels. there is no way around it. So your cotton grain will look blurry unless you split up mesh into 8-10 textures. If you don’t do it, but the brand next to you is doing it, theirs will always look significantly better than yours.

        I go down hard on creators when they cheat, or steal, or do unethical things, but let’s not blame them for something they don’t have control over.

        How we get around it with modern tools is tilable detail maps, for example instead putting that cotton grain on a 2k texture hoping to get good detail from it, we keep the larger details on the texture and move the cotton grain to a small 128×128 map slot in the shader which then gets tiled 50x. So the GPU is loading a 128×128. There is no amount of optimization someone can do in SL with its current tools that can rival people who use 10-12 textures on their jacket to get better texture detail and higher quality stitching etc.

      • There are ways to reduce your vram significantly in SL but it requires a lot of preplanning. It’s certainly doable but only a handful of creators put in the time to do it.

      • Without the ability for everyone to view normal maps, and without shader support for detail maps, we aren’t talking about the same things :p

      • She has this one set of fishnets with shorts from back in the day that add over 100k to your complexity… but it’s an actual fishnet mesh, not a fishnet texture on an alpha mesh, so I guess it sort of makes sense to me in a non-creator way. Not worth it to wear, and I guess that’s why so many take the alpha shortcut to making fishnet.

    • That’s not even black sands worst couch they just released a new one at an event at 1.4 million polys and a bajillion textures it literally takes a min to rez because the mesh alone is like 30mb of data when a lot of GOOD furniture can be meshed in like a few hundred KB or less!! XD lol INSPECT is the best tool to learn to use on second life stop buying over meshed items then complain about lag and SL sucking. Maybe if you didn’t have half million poly crepes all over your kitchen etc. etc. the grid would lag less or a Hershey chocolate bar that’s quarter million poly it’s literally a set of rectangles that are brown people…. Looking at you Backbone, Blueberry, Dust Bunny, Black Sand, Val’More and etc… there’s more.

    • Complexity is very broken and needs to be fixed. If LL would outright account for tri’s/draw/texture mb things would be a bit better.

      A handy “mouse over” option on the client that shows an avi/obj tri count / mb texture usage would be handy.

    • I’d like to add that using the AVX/AXV or whatever its called Black Dragon client improved my frame rate so much. I have a decent PC from 2020 so your results may very but if you have something nice to play on then give it a try.

    • I tried to figure out who the culprit was, but they must have been yoinked before Seraphim and the Epiphany site released their shopping guides (or they both edited their sites on the back end).

      Epiphany used to be The. Big Deal. You couldn’t get in for days. It’s not any more, and you can get in the first day. This round was seriously the Phone It In round for most of the gachas. I played one machine only (that weird cat robot serving food) and left.

      Unfortunately the hoochie/babygirl aesthetic is not my jam. Is that the crowd spending the most money? I just went back to K9 and plunked some change in Zenith’s gacha. Cute stuff without a bunch of trash that disappoints.

      • I’m actually starting to think no one was removed, it was a PR thing to try to say they stand up against IP infringement in face of letting Rebeca sell downloaded meshes at their event. It’s weird that no one seems to know who the brand was.

    • I went and bought the fat packs of the items I wanted. Spendy, but at least I get copy versions of what I want. The majority of the stuff there is crap. It’s too bad, it used to be a great event.
