    • As a person of color IRL I literally could not give two shits if someone’s avatar is Asian / Black (or any other color / race) and they are white IRL. If they made an avatar that is a POC based solely off of negative stereotypes / racist ideals, then yeah, it’s wrong. Not everyone’s avatar should be made within the confines of their own real life race / ethnicity if they don’t want to be, especially on a platform meant to be creative. Obviously same goes for the roles reversed. I have a white avatar option, and I don’t see a problem in that.

      There’s no doubt in my mind that these posts are made by race baiters thinking they’re sticking up for the little man and being woke. If anything they’re doing more harm than good.

Especially with brands, they typically have the same damn animations in everything, if not then a salad mixture from others into the furniture that have been seen before.     • Funny story, the family name savage in SL came from a bunch of jealous girls who weren’t invited to be in a group of friends/family of a club owner, this was about 6 years ago. They recruited half the staff of the club to change their name to savage and wrote notices to VIP’s to come in and see family willing to fuck each other. They continued to do this incest and age play role-play in the club and got fired and banned for it, and from there ran around recruiting people all over SL to try and prove they are better then this other family, even though the other group of people never gave a shit about them in the first place. They recruited one girl who was transgender and socially awkward, made her feel like she was important and tried to use her to get information from the club they got fired at, and then kicked her out of the family, then bullied her for not getting them good enough gossip. Ive never felt more uncomfortable in all of my SL than when they did this shit. Whenever I see a savage pop up on my radar I have PTSD from that time and can’t block and ban fast enough. Also if you give your family a last name like Savage, you should probably not be a cry baby, drama filled, twat. Just saying.

      • Exactly! When I first came into SL forever ago, there was literally almost nothing for men in clothes, accessories, etc. So I decided to make a female alt to feed my shopping addiction. For a few years, I used only that alt, and I experienced firsthand what SL was like for women. I got hit on constantly, I was treated like an object, I was mansplained to, I was looked down on as inferior… all those things, I would never have experienced from a male perspective, and it totally made me understand all the shit men do to women and how f#%$ed up it is, so it made me try to be a better person. So if doing RP as a black person, or Asian, or any other minority or marginalized group, gives people some perspective on those people’s experience, then I say we should not only allow it, but encourage it, as long as they do it from a place of respect and not as a gag.

    According to this: The 7 Best Virtual World Games (lifewire.com) SL did win the award for Best Escape, while IMVU won the award for Best Realistic Graphics, which leads me to believe that they based it upon the recently released IMVU Desktop Client (not the Classic Client), which greatly sharpens and cleans up the graphics a thousand fold.

    Despite the lack of movement and the amount of avis a room can have on IMVU, they somehow manage to get nearly 100k people on during main hours while SL gets roughly 50-55k during those same hours. Yes, IMVU also has a mobile app that actually works.

    You can create in both, have events though the ones in SL can have roughly 50 people partake while lagging to oblivion, and basically do everything the competition does.

    Eventually, there will be worlds that will blow SL and IMVU out of the water that would be able to all of that in excess.

    • I think logically IMVU would not have as much lag because no one can move. Thus there’s no script lag which is what makes sl laggier. Your CPU has to not just read the graphics but it has to read the script logic. Which by the way, is what makes Second life far more realistic than a game where you got to sit on a pose ball to move around. Hence, easier to actually draw the graphics on.

      • Script lag isn’t what makes SL lag so bad, it’s the mesh people upload. Have you ever inspected just about anything in SL? The tri count on EVERYTHING is through the roof, people routinely upload render-quality mesh instead of game quality mesh.

        Let’s do a breakdown here. At the moment, high-poly avatars are the norm. In terms of base avatars, no clothes, head, hair, etc… Just body, feet, hands, here’s the tri count of some popular avatars- maitreya is 176k tris, kupra is 456k tris, belleza freya is 521k tris, and legacy female last I checked is 787k tris. The popular clothing brands clock in at least 50k tris per clothing piece(usually closer to 100k,) hair’s anywhere between 200-300k tris, a lelutka head will add about another 100k.
        We’ll go with the popular stuff for this example. Let’s say there’s 25 women in a club. They’re all wearing the maitreya body, a lelutka head, a full outfit from blueberry/reign (shirt, shoes, socks, shorts, a couple accessories,) and a long hair from either truth or doux. That’ll put them around 990k tris per avatar, pulled from real examples from each of these stores. We’ll tack on about another 500k tris for the club setup. That means the ENTIRE scene comes in at 25.25 MILLION tris, and that’s on the low end of things. For context: the PS5 can reasonably render 20 million tris in one scene, and it’s a fairly powerful machine. The fact that SL runs at all on lower end computers is a miracle. Cranking your graphics settings way the fuck down can help, but it’ll only do so much and you won’t be able to actually see anything because people don’t do proper LOD models, they crunch everything down to a handful of tris just so they can get a low LI.

They have a monopoly because no one else provides the level of service they do. However, doesnt mean they shouldnt provide a professional service and treat their employees well.

    • My view on Seraphim is that they shouldn’t have events pay them for exposure, I use to work for a rival blog of Seraphim’s (the site is no longer in service because of Seraphim) and they never charged event owners for exposure. They also made sure that EVERY item was out for the event and if it wasn’t it they would go back and update with the new items which is something Seraphim doesn’t do, and it’s disheartening as a consumer especially when it comes to FLF and an item is not out it makes the consumers think that that item wont be out all day. I honestly agree with everything that the poster said, and I’ve meet Del and she’s not a nice person.
