  1. 23 & 44. CC has a big issue with only being fun during an IC event. On an average day…. there’s not much going on. It’s pretty dead. There’s no day to day roleplay going on unless you want to cause a fire or do something that lands you in the hospital like falling off a bride into water. Some of us aren’t into just emergency roleplay. People are constantly in their homes, at the emergency service jobs, or at a dead OOC club that most of us aren’t interested in going to. It’s a good sim…. don’t get me wrong but they don’t have any daily roleplay for the average person. They want the sim to be realistic but people aren’t falling off brides and the buildings don’t catch fire every day in a town. I think a mall would do them justice. Great place to hang out and meet people, rp shop, do some shoplifting, work, eat, cause a scene, faint, get into a fight because some guy was flirting with your girlfriend by the pretzel shop, teen punks making too much noise in the arcade so security is called, a pregnant woman going into labor in the food court. It could bring people of all ages to one place and get things really going for daily rp where everyone can witness it and get involved. Another issue is the hiring of moderators. They only seem to hire mods that are from certain families or have ties to managers or previous moderators

    Woodcrest, Fox Hollow, and many others have people out of their homes and in public places so there’s always someone to run into and start a conversation with. Not at CC though. I think changes should be considered. And I can also vouch for Fox Hollow being a great sim. They’ve taken many of my suggestions into consideration. No passive aggressive managers and people are friendly. Not dead either and fair in hiring

  2. #6, #35 All RP sims have cliques, as do groups and clubs. That’s going to be a thing as long as SL exists so you might as well get used to it. The focus of RP is more about the storyline and theme anyway. You have to be comfortable with approaching others if you want to participate, instead of waiting for them to come to you. The thing that really irritates me, which #35 addressed, is the sims where people, including managers and owners(and trust me not all of them are working), are all staying in their houses all day and only come out for Sim events and gatherings. I quit wasting my time on those sims.

    #9 When a RP sim is active on most days, they’re not that bad. It all depends on your personal tastes, what you’re interested in, what you’re not interested in and whether or not you can play well with others.

    #23 Amen to that. I’ve been to multiple RP sims where the only time people are out of their houses is when an event is going on in the sim bar/saloon/club/event are and the Events are OOC. No one interacts with each other and spend the whole time dancing with their spouse/significant other.

    #44 I actually went there recently for a huge live concert they had there was like 70 people there almost crashed me super far from dead. They live stream most of there events Im allways seeing them on my feed. I also talked to there manager about renting a house and they put up with my millions of questions and were tottally nice even though I didnt end up renting. I dont go to rp sims often but I would recomend Fox Hollow there really cool. Im guessing this person is just salty.

    • Agree with this. I LOVE Fox Hollow so much better than the sim I moved from. Better management and there’s more happening than just fire after fire. They actually engage ALL of their residents not just those in public safety roles. I work in Fox Hollow and it is SO much better than my previous job at the other sim. But they even care about those who aren’t employed. It’s a good place to be.

  9. #35 – Oh my god! What a shocking revelation! A college roleplay sim has (Gasp) cliques?! If only it was like a real college that TOTALLY doesn’t have those. I haven’t even been there that long and I’ve had better, more chill roleplay than half the other sims I’ve been to.

    Sounds to me like you just don’t want to take the initiative and go out and find it. Or can’t RP worth a damn. A place like that with the traffic it has is what you make of it. Can’t just stand around and expect every single person to talk to you. Find a hook and your own roleplay or stop complaining and blaming “what’s wrong” on other people.

    • I know the group of people they are talking about on that sim. I use to play there more often but the rp there isn’t very good. I am a para poster and sometimes you have to pull teeth out of people to post and when you do it’s usually a one liner, “sup man” WTF am I to do with that? ha ha. I get there are various levels of rp skill, but then there is lazy. This is lazy rp. The same people who do the one liners, will build lines of OOC text and send it out. One day I was playing and this girl was talking to another and I tried to rp with her and she got mad at me because they were having a private conversation. I thought this was all out of character because not brackets were used. So I reacted back calling her a prissy bitch. Now I would never talk to a lady like that in RL but I was just playing my character. The girl went off and got in my im’s telling me she was going to have her admin friends take care of me. Next thing I know I have others im’ing me. I also tried to go to the DAM hosue 3 times and even put in an application twice and no one got back to me. Then one guy did RP with me, took me to the back by the pool and all anyone did was play OOC games. All of them having their inside jokes and when you tried talking to them they would ignore you. I thought ok message them. I got ignored there too then got a response back ‘ sorry I spaced man. going to bed. night’ He spaced but was still hacking it up in local. The are nice on the outside sure, but they are a waste of time and I ain’t trying to hate just being real. That sim is a pretty neat sim and has a lot others sims don’t, but I won’t back. As cool of a place as it is, it’s like buying shoes off Wish. the picture it gives doesn’t match the delivery. So yeah those defending that place I feel are safe to say people who like to keep it that ooc place that it is. I like rp and quality over hanging out. It’s just not for me. if you are into that cool do your thing my man.

  10. #44 – Firstly…its a great idea it was good and has a bunch of nice people but just have to say management sucks. Don’t listen to anyone but themselves micromanaging every change they get and refuse to change anything that is potentially causing them to lose out on grounds of something -looking pretty- Don’t want to meet people half way on anything and go through staff like a most people do underwear.Also adding sim after sim does not account for the lack of creativity else were when comes to having EVERYONE feel welcome. Its great ya for the first month then you get to see the cracks.I mean sooner or later people will find out how much they talk about their so called “residents” behind their backs…Ooops I said to much…

    • #44 I have NEVER had a issue with Fox Hollow I have been there 6 months now and they just changed my house out last week to another one I wanted. I also suggested a grocery store and they put it on their new sim (which they had to add because half their sims have wait lists. Trust me took almost the entire 6 months to get on olyerben). I have never felt unwelcome or unheard and when it comes to creativity I don’t think Linden labs themselves would have re-posted their annual fair if it wasn’t creative. I don’t know any other sim that is as active or has as much space dedicated to amenities. They are always having huge events that make it to number. I don’t think you know what you are talking about.

If Ned can’t get that person, then he/she will turn everyone you know against you, painting you as a villain and Ned is once again the long suffering victim.

    • Yeah I can agree. I tried reaching out and being his friend when I noticed his frame of mind was a little low, so I did my best to cheer him up and let him know that he’s not alone. I offered my shoulder to him and even told him some personal stories so as a way of showing him that I can relate to what he’s going through. Then he started being a prick to me. Putting his nose where it doesn’t belong. Assuming the worst from me and my partner, jumping to conclusions and making straight disrespectful and wild accusations towards us without having a conversation first, or even just straight up asking. When time and time again I or my partner proved the accusations false, he started becoming evil and sour and started commenting disrespectful things on my statuses. I was shocked to find out that Ned was 40, because in my mind I thought I was dealing with a very young 20 something year old that hadn’t matured quite yet.

      I don’t know how his “fiancée” stays with him. He starts fights and gets offended over every little thing. It would get straight up exhausting being with someone like that. If they break up before the wedding, (for the fact that she said yes when she proposed is a surprise, but it a was a public proposal so she probably felt obligated) I wouldn’t be surprised. In fact, I hope she runs as fast as she can away from this guy.

He likes to mass report people that have done nothing wrong and is the reason why voice is off in all the hubs he even went so far as to teach people how to be a griefer, In the case of the person that was spamming the nazi kkk mega prims at barbarossa he learned how to make his crasher and megaprim replicating minigun from jamesb007 the same jamesb that has said the world would be better off if all the fa**ots were dead.his little friend montoya35 is a active griefer as well getting crashers and griefing tools from jamesb. montoya35 and jamesb both have copybotted in the past and falsely reported people that called them out on their behavior but what people don’t know is jamesb was apart of the infamous griefer group the Patriotic Nigras a group that was active from 2006 to 2014 jamesb was one of the members that would scout out targets for this group and work his way into furry groups to select targets for harassment. he also has a confirmed 32 accounts that he uses to mass report people bringing them onto the sim one at a time. he has also called me a fa**ot in the past and said i should be tossed off a roof.. he’s a racist homophobic and transphobic person but most of all he is the one thing he hates a ban evader if you see him do sl a favor and report him when he starts spouting his hateful shit

  13. #11 – This is not how roleplay works. There is not one ‘correct’ group that should be present and advertised over the other genres. All types of roleplay – within reason – should be encouraged, even if you dislike it. I say within reason because there are forms of roleplay that break real-world laws and break the Terms of Service of Second Life. Either way, they should not be silenced or denied the ability because you dislike their style. It is not about YOU, it is about everyone else and make their time enjoyable. It is about creating a story, an in-depth world, about creating long-lasting characters, about making them flawed and overcoming those flaws, and about having an enjoying time together.

    Whoever made this, as well as anyone who agrees with it, should take a proverbial step backwards and re-evaluate their stance on roleplay. Also, you do not speak for the entire group. Unless the rules state ‘no family focused roleplay’ you have no grounds to speak. Good, you will never visit them. Do not do that, then. People were roleplaying long before these fantasy elements were added.

    Saying nonsense like this would get you blacklisted from many low-tier Dungeons and Dragons groups. I would take the girlfriend of the DM that never has her character be harmed or damaged at all over someone ignorant like you.

    Here is a place for you to roleplay: Mischief Managed. They are at your level and share your garbage mindset and lack any knowledge of roleplay.

    • Their frustration isn’t misplaced though. The “family” lifestyle sims were drowning out other RP ads in the bigger RP advertisement groups for a long time. The only reason it changed at all was that one of them put in a rule about “no pay to play” rp sims (which knocks out a good chunk of the family sims since you have to pay for a rental and “live” there) and no ads focused on pay aspects of a sim (most of the family RP ads were small blurbs then going off about their cheap rentals). I know at one point myself, I muted a handful of users who would take turns spamming ads for their family sim because their notices alone would literally cap my offlines. Some of these sims are just another way to fill rental parcels and collect on them, which is why they’re so aggressive about it.

      Just kinda throwing out the other side of the coin there.

    • I’ve got absolutely no interest in Family RP but it is def a valid RP type. I think that the ‘no pay to rp’ or have a rental is probably a better solution than trying to ‘police’ what we’re considering appropriate rp. Saying you need tabletop dynamics, dungeons or adventure (like the original secret) is really not it.

      (Also MM sounds great IF I cared at all about HP which I don’t)

Was with a friend at Kresendo store looking for halloween stuff and that same person, Quibbles, appeared and told me and my friend to stop flying despite only us there. Told her that we were just looking for the section in the store which is huge and she said she was the Manager and we are not to fly. Her attitude was the worst and needless to say we didnt buy from her store. Kinda feels like she always wanted to be hall monitor at school but was never chosen.

      • Know lots that have had same treatment. I had a complaint regarding the so called premium group and Quiggles was inept at dealing with it. I had supported their games and such for years with lots of achievements that they promote only to be banned because she couldnt deal with it professionally. Horrible woman who is obviously compensating for a lack of something in her real life, or as stated missed out on a position of authority at school. Spend my lindens elsewhere now and time they realise much better stuff out there.

      • I notice you didn’t address the matter of being told not to fly in the store; is this actually a Krescendo policy? If so, why the fuck? A store is not a rp sim, and those are the only ones with any excuse to disable the ability to fly. It’s tiresome enough the way event owners disable flying and the ability to click to tp around a sim so they can create a fixed landing point and charge more for the booths close to it- yeah, we know why. There’s no excuse to limit people’s movement options other than greed.

      • I believe that fly is turned off in Krescendo as there are other brands and work platforms on the same sim. If you are just shopping and getting to where you need to go, it’s not something that you will be kicked/banned for.

    23. I don’t know the Club Owner personally so I can’t go into those details but I don’t like that a ROLEPLAY community offers little roleplay. Why is an out of character Club such a hot commodity? I went once and was bored out of my mind. This is a prime example of why no one in the roleplay community respects family sims. If the Sim’s owner and managers would focus on building the MCSO up more than allowing a Club to take over the town; we could get decent roleplay. The most memorable roleplay came from the CCPD; now MCSO

  29. When we have movie nights, a good portion of it is ooc because we are setting up the TV because its not working for some people. Also we all have different levels of rp.. kinda messed up to look down at people who are not at your “skilled” level.

I left for the Fox Hollow sim and I’ve been very happy. I’ve only went back to Cc because my boyfriend found work there. I still hate it but I play nice for him. I hope I can convince the tourist and citizens of Cc to come to Fox Hollow instead. They’ll thank me later. The management is better and residents are likable and number 44. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was sent in by the competition. Fox Hollow has the kindest managers. There’s always an event for roleplayers and people who want to watch the action unfold. It’s a great sim. Much better than the one I moved from.

    I will tell you the whole issue with Woodcrest is one person and one person only, I could give you a whole list of reasons why but that is something you will have to find out for yourself, as well as who the person is, until eventually you come to that conclusion and stop bothering about that place because it will never ever change…

    As for now you are still pointing fingers in a multitude of directions which is a normal thing to happen, you are nearly touching some of the issues but I guarantee you that is not a case of not knowing what to do; there were many before, many… who put work in, suggested new ideas and always got to where you are now. It doesn’t happen because that person doesn’t want, doesn’t actually care… and if so, and also because you are not doing that person’s job or paying for the sim, I suggest you stop caring too… you won’t win this.

    There are other roleplay communities and even groups who do it all over the grid without being tied to one particular community, just broaden your horizons and don’t get into fights that will only make you feel worse. It will not do you any good if you keep thinking too much about it.

    • Running a club is way harder than it looks! Keep in mind she has to generate real money to keep that place going and SL has become a very expensive game to play. On top of that, you get constant drama over the most petty stuff. The fact that ANYONE has a club on the grid as long as she has is nothing short of a miracle. That being said, I’ve seen her around the grid but heard rumor to stay away from her that she is not a nice person. I don’t know, nor do I care. I enjoy the club and will keep it at that way. I’ve never had drama there. Also, I love the furniture. My only complaint is the membership is way to expensive but that is another topic for another day. Peace.

Is it just because they are two of the bigger houses there other than Omega? Omega is the one who constantly does Omega only events. The ones in that family/friend group I have interacted with happen to be very good at RP. I do not know if you just feel jaded for some reason or what but I have never seen them ignore anyone in RP or be unapproachable. If you think the system there is failing, maybe it is because of people like you who anonymously hide behind a keyboard and/or try to create unnecessary OOC drama like this. When it comes down to the real problem that is really the issue right? OOC drama and people who are to introverted to reach out to someone and actually try to RP with them or get to know them. Or maybe you are one of the people who thrives off the drama.

      Woodcrest as with all of SL is what you make it. It’s a beautiful world in which to escape the uncontrollable slings and arrows of rl. WC was created and has been kept alive not for the sake of profit but to offer a virtual home and or family to those who want and need it. Our little town was in fact conceived one day when Bliss approached me about my empty sim and asked if i wanted to use it to make a home for people and help lift spirits. Those who know me fully understand where my heart is and how my only wish is you find happiness and friendship, and if not in WC then wherever your avatar may roam.

Its ok though, your loss will be our gain, those who really seek interactive roleplay please know you will not get it at Woodcrest. They are not on the same level they are about the numbers clearly. I mean that is fine, not everyone is cut out to run a real roleplay sim. So don’t let that get you down, it is ok to say you aren’t really a roleplay, just a SL hub. I don’t fault you for trying to make a cozy hang out place. It’s cute, but for the sake of us REAL sim owners, have some respect for yourself and the name of your “Home” and call yourselves anything but a roleplay sim.     • As to Omega, I’m IN Omega. One of our pledge tasks is an Omega only event and since Drama Llama so helpfully mentioned that we’re a big house, we have a lot of pledges. Half the time other houses crash them anyway. 😉

  62. MM always has been and always will be cliquey. They won’t work on it because they deny there is an actual problem. You’re better off finding another sim to rp at or build a group of friends and rp amongst yourselves. You’ll never be able to ICCLY participate in any personal character plot unless you’re in that clique. Thankfully there are other Harry Potter themed sims that don’t have this issue now. Check those out instead.

    • I only know of one other harry potter sim, World of Hogwarts. There was once one called Statute of Secrecy but I was told by someone that the Admins or managers of MM made them close it down because it was a conflict of interest.

      • Admin at SOS for a time being, and it was never mentioned MM insisted or tried to force SOS to shut down, what i heard or seen is all what i heard or seen.

      • There’s another newer one that came out. I don’t think it’s a Hogwarts roleplay though. I saw some girl with a profile pick about it at Wizarding Faire and checked it out a bit back then. It was a pretty sim but real quiet. Though I’d rather quiet then being forced to play a background character in the MM admin teams character plots and stories. I can’t remember the name of it but it started with an F.

      • It’s Fledge Rock, a lot of the old MM crew have come out of hiding to play there. Weekends it picks up, and some late nights.

    • Even those of us in the clique are getting tired of it. I’m a long-time member of MM and I’m getting to the point of just being over it. Nothing changes. Staff say they’ll work on an issue, but there’s no real will to change. The things that get changed are things no one actually wants changed, like the recent redo of the spell system. Rather than focusing on roleplay, they just made it harder for people to play their characters the way they want and forced them to retcon their previous work. Even staff members will try to tell other staff that something is an issue or isn’t a good idea and they just get shut down. It’s becoming more effort than it’s worth to play there. MM has become a horcrux.

    • It’s sad how true all of this was. The moment a TriWizard tournament was announced my friends and I already knew it would be people in the clique, most likely already predetermined before school even started, getting the fun of participating. Why should the rest of us even try?

      I’ve seen a lot of beautiful writers and roleplayers, characters, and all around more deserving people get pushed aside for the clique and their alts. A lot of us feel like background clutter and nothing more, no matter how many times we try immersing ourselves in the story.

      Simple little things that would help would be to call upon newcomers in classes, rather than the same people. Stop letting the same people and their drama take up 25% of a classroom’s time while the rest of us can’t do much but sit back and watch. Share some IC responsibilities with people outside of the clique…
      And for those in the clique itself, stop blatantly ignoring everyone who isn’t one of you. I’ve seen people, including myself, who have tried to engage in roleplay with most of you and get flat out ignored, like I wasn’t even there. It’s gotten to a point that a few of us don’t even try acknowledging you lot in roleplay anymore, because we know we will be ignored anyway. It’d especially frustrating when your roleplays are prioritized by the sim and take up most of MM’s time so we’re left with this feeling constantly.
      This is why a lot of people don’t stick around for long.

      • I am a long time RPer of MM, people seem to forget I’ve started on the sim since they opened it and I’ve always been in the background. I agree though on everything you said. I will admit though my character does get called on in class but only because no one else raises their hand or participate they’re just having mindless chatter.

      • I played at MM years ago and my first year there had been a blast only because … the staff members that were most problematic had been away (some were ‘ordinary’ players then). When they all returned, it went back to default state described by all of you. It was awfully hard for any new players to do anything because there was no anchor for them to use.

        I left due to drama and other shady stuff but had friends try to RP there over years and most lasted a month. One friend, whom went there most recently, said the plot was so convoulted and inaccessible that it made writing impossible to outsiders or newcomers. According to him, there was no option of having a fresh character not knowing something or not being present for an event since all were important plot … one that had not been on their website.

        No idea why they do not lock the sim and make it just for themselves as that would save them all the grief and having to bother with outsiders.

    • Maybe leave then? I keep seeing posts about RP sims but if it’s so bad why do you all stick around? Clearly these sims are doing something right because people keep going there and sticking around despite all the complaining.

You dont find it until you get there and then your options are abandon a character you already started having fun with, fighting your way into the clique, or staying with it in hopes of finding your own friends to play with. The MM retention rate is probably the lowest around tbh. You can’t call the sim busy when after 10 days of a new ‘school year’ 70% of the players never come back. The ones that are left are heavily staff or only come around for a day or two every few weeks.

      • It wasn’t facetious as the shape is actually offered for sale on marketplace. OP didn’t want to pay the 1k for the shape just to find out where the skin was from, so they posted a screenshot asking if anyone could lend assistance after the creator responded with “buy my shape or gtfo”. Eventually she did end up buying the shape, I believe people came together to help her which she then posted the style credits on facebook on the post.

      • Whilst it’s not rude or even unusual for people to ask where you got your skin, it’s actually a bit shitty not to share, to the creator. Word of mouth is one of the best forms of advertising and a lot of amazing creators go under, because they just don’t get enough sales so get discouraged.

        Ways to be individual.. always make your own stuff, period. Otherwise no one will look like you if you add your own style and flair to things. We all have the same amount of stores to shop at, chances are most of us own the same things, it’s how we put them together that matters.

      I met her years ago in a different account and my impression of her was of someone quite emphatic and nice. Yes you may say she likes to surround herself with a clique and known avatars, perhaps true but for the most part she is actually quite open and I can tell you she doesn’t go around talking trash about anyone or stirring drama with people.
      Let her be, you know nothing about the person in question nor what motivates her to live her SL the way she does.
      Just saying she is a bitch is not enough, people can give their honest opinions about things without it being a personal attack… please…

    • If someone is selling a shape on MP and is including a style card, then I think its reasonable to expect someone to buy the shape if they want to know where to buy the components used to create the look.

    • Discontentment with the Harry Potter inspired sim Mischief Managed has been circulating for years. While I only played there a little bit at least two or three years ago -I couldn’t play much because they followed a school schedule and I was in school- I heard that cliques was an issue.

      Basically (and this can and does happen on any RP sim), people who have been there a long time get really ingrained in their stories and don’t really open their roleplay to others. This can be a problem to growing a sim but the biggest problem is -what the posters contend- when is management is involved. A big complaint I have seen about MM is that many people feel that major plot points always revolve around the same people.

      But like I said- this is always an issue RP sims deal with.

      • The staff don’t trust most players with plots. They only trust other members of staff and a few select vetted others. In some ways, they’re right, because they do have a lot of issues with metagaming from genpop, but rather than dealing with those problems directly and individually, they’ve become cynical and painted everyone with the same brush.
