  10. Most of Secondlife’s creators use references to create their things, some got a more creative mind and doesn’t need references to create something, but most do. I don’t see anything wrong with it as long as they change up the design a little bit and turn it into something else, thinking outside the box.

    Honestly, if people need something to complain about, go after the tattoo shops that don’t do anything but to steal art and copy-paste them to create a tattoo to sell and get money from, they didn’t create the art and all they did at most was to make sure it is seamless and placed on a nice spot on your body, but that doesn’t make you into a creator.

    There are of course a few exceptions, some make the tattoo from scratch and that is what I want to see more of, that is something I want to throw my money at even if they would be more simplistic (if anyone know of any please hit me up ).

    Some people don’t give a shit on who or what they throw their money at, but maybe you should start doing so, if you don’t want to spend money on “copycats” then don’t, if you don’t want to spend money on people who steal shit then don’t, it’s as simple as that.

    • That there is why I pretty much refuse to buy any Tattoo that looks like a full body of random doodles & stay away from stores like Speakeasy…. most places that make Tattoos from scratch aren’t solely Tattoo Stores.

      Many times the good made from scratch Tattoos are from stores who make other things & just happen to have Appliers as well & will even sometimes advertise somewhere that their stuff is “Hand Drawn” because they are proud of their hard work.

      I don’t often wear Tattoos in SL maybe because the allure of them is “meh whatever” ’cause I have actual RL ones so I only use them if it makes an outfit better… over the past couple of years my tattoo buying has dwindled down to mainly shopping at Cureless & TWC because they for sure do their own work & then sometimes something from Dappa or Bolson if they release something super cool but I can’t give my “stamp of approval” on if they make theirs from scratch or not.

He is a real estate owner, he sell, rents land on mainland and as such, there are many clubs on the lands he rents/sells. Those group owners have to have a land owners name if they are on mainland! I don’t know who Sikora is, but make sure you know who and what you are talking about before you make those kind of accusations. Mazta is a genuinely nice man and works to make his land owners happy. The club in question states they are an 18+ club, and if you have an issue with the artwork that THEY used you should contact the owners of that club, no make accusation about the land owner!

      • To be fair me, if you hang out in certain places you will never find a real friend. But if you hangout in others that are more so for socializing you could. I’ve met some rl friends within SL and I have traveled with one (we also work in the same profession), and I had a guy that I did end up almost living with in rl for a few years. However, that’s not too common and it’s quite hard to even get friends within sl in some places. I have also met quite a few people within the game that have ended up married in rl, a couple of them sl designers which are very nice people.

        That being said, usually those are the individuals that are in their late 30s early 40s and aren’t quite into the “gaming” side of sl and more so the social chatroom side.

        But there’s a difference in relationship types. If you are starting to talk about rl and both sides appear open, then at that time maybe it’s correct for the sake of not lying too much to accept your rl sex and more or less age if you deem fit. Or if not, just state you do not feel comfortable in telling that. Someone mature would understand.

    • Tbh I enjoy injecting a little realism into my pictures. I do “real” flickr avatar pics. However, the difference is, I’m not selling anything. Well, that and I do it purely for my entertainment. What bugs me is when creators take pictures of these avatars, put the filters on them, then sell you the skins. You look at your avatar, then back at the advertisement, then back at your avatar. You then realize, hey—-this isn’t what I wanted at all.

If you’re playing a character be up front about it; don’t pretend like that character is who you really are and develop OOC relationships based on it with other people who are being authentically themselves. There’s a good chance that person might not be able to express themselves fully as their true selves if they’re not comfortable with who their true self is.         Now that being said, if someone is purposely manipulating, then yes they do deserve to be exposed as manipulating. But that doesn’t mean that person exposing them isn’t being any less manipulating in many cases. Not always, but quite often that’s the case.

        However, I’m not talking about the ones who deserve to be exposed. I’m talking about the cases where the person has a valid reason to not have to share their real sex to you. And I’m talking about the people who have chosen to expose for their own manipulating reasons.

        But frankly I’m starting to believe anyone who doesn’t understand this, is one of those exact kind of people and not worth the time and energy to explain anything they will never try to understand or care to understand. And are so far sucked into SL over their RL that they can no longer separate the 2 of them. At which point should be a sign to get off the internet and find yourself a RL as well. And if for some reason you’re not able to do that, then shame on you for not understanding why others would equally need to escape into SL in their chosen form.

      • @Bored I agree with you on most of that & tbh I laugh when people try to say they are being “authentic” in SL because the game/platform is set up to promote imagination & escape from having to be ones real self & all the constraints that go with it. Over the years I’ve just chopped it up to people forgetting that they are not their Avi and that it is just a “Doll you play with”.

        When I get online I have 2 “accounts” of sorts one for the RL me…used to pay my bills/shopping, talk to my RL friends & family, & do all my RL things as my RL self with my RL name (this is where I’m “authentic”)
        Then, there is a 2nd account made with Nothing “Real or Authentic” it’s just the online part of a persona I’ve made for myself from my inner most mind that happens to have it’s own e-mail, social media sites, & many avatars spanning across several gaming platforms including SL.
        I go to great lengths to keep the 2 separate for many reasons but most of all for my RL safety from those who can’t make the separation which strangely enough most reside in SL vs my other gaming platforms/MMOs that I play.

        I understand people getting very attached to their SL avi… hell, I’m very attached to mine in many ways but still even most children understands that they are not their toys/barbie doll/action figure when they play with them & all they are doing is controlling the words & actions of said toy & nothing more so the fact that grown adults can’t seem to make the separation eludes me but whatever to each their own I guess.

        I’ve never said people can’t pretend to be whatever they want in SL- in fact, I encourage creativity and actual roleplay. What I said, very clearly but I guess I’ll use even more, smaller words now, is that *if* you are telling someone you genuinely care about them out of character, *if* you are developing a friendship or relationship of whatever kind that goes beyond a character (say, you share rl details back and forth, if people really need a line), *if* you do any of those things, while lying to that person about who or what you really are, you are a garbage human being and you are taking advantage of the situation to manipulate that person you’re claiming to care about. It’s absolutely gross to encourage someone to develop feelings for you under false pretenses. Not only are you lying about who and what you are, you’re lying about your feelings- because that’s not how you treat people you care about. It’s pure selfishness and there’s no room for care in that.

        Not only that, you’re just making any issues you have accepting who you are worse for yourself, because when you are never real with people you start to feel like people will only like the “fake” you. You get artificial confirmation of this when you confess to lying after the fact and people are upset, because it’s easier to just give up and believe everyone hates you than admit your actions are the cause of your problems, not other people’s response to them.

        All that being said- go on and be liars if you must, I guess. I’m not worried about it personally, because I smell lies like a fart in a car and can’t remember the last time anyone got away with deceiving me. I just can’t help but hope people will try to be better than that.

  34. #23 my 3 heads seem to work fine. i had issues with the animations once, and all it took was a relog. is it possible you are wearing huds that overlap? i know the Genus huds have invisible parts that cover things near them, which i wish they would fix by putting them off screen like most huds do, but thats been my only issue.

    • The issue is not that the HUDs don’t work. The issue is that the animations seem unrealistic at best- most genus wearers I see don’t even blink normally, let alone any kind of face AO. (No, sticking your tongue out every 30 seconds is not an acceptable AO.) They end up looking like they’re wearing completely static heads, and this is not just occasionally; this is more common than not.

      I’m gonna let you in on a little fun fact- not everyone in SL sees what you see, especially when it comes to animations. I’m guessing that these people think they look OK when they go out, but their animations are freezing up/glitching out on tp, and either they’re not noticing that or they still look OK to themselves while everyone else sees a completely static face. The way Catwa animations are installed in the heads and therefore do not need HUDs to work once set up, as well as the constant refreshment of the facial AOs she provides because they’re always in motion, means that even if those animations do “freeze” on tp, they’ll unfreeze themselves in seconds when new animation sequence starts, no laggy HUD needed. People can hate her all day, but Catwa’s got the best overall mesh head system in SL still, period.

      • There are other huds that work with genus regarding animations. Most of them work more effectively than the genus one. Catwa heads don’t even move with other head huds, unless the designer greased catwa’s pockets. Again, all about preference

      • Not true. While most included bento face animations in furniture are fucking awful, they all work on Catwa. Every face pose HUD I’ve tried has worked, including the Lelutka Axis HUD for custom expressions. Proprietary HUDs won’t work on any head except the one they’re made for, but otherwise Catwa bento heads will take any bento animations. You just can’t use Catwa animations on other heads. That was a smart decision on her part, firstly because they’re better than others, but mostly because animations rarely translate across different branded meshes very well- which is why bento furniture face animations suck, to round off my point. Comically distorted and ridiculous, or understated and monotonous; there doesn’t seem to be anything in between. It does make for fun people watching though lol

    • Catwa can relay animations too, but I don’t think genus can. The mesh heads are technically all similar in one way or another, though, and you have no control over most of the interfaces like you do on genus. Everything’s more easy to operate/buy with genus regarding the store and they actually gave their baby face head out for free and had Black Friday and Christmas events, unlike catwa.

      I personally don’t like catwa because they cheated me personally, but I think it all comes down to preferences. There’s tons of reasons to like anything, but if you don’t like it, that doesn’t mean that others can’t like it

    • Yeah I’ve never had an issue with them either. I even got the Lelutka HUD to make custom facial animations. But you know how SL secrets be, grabbing their pitchforks and starting a witch hunt when things aren’t perfect the way they want.

    • I’ve been an Catwa weare and I love my Catwa head so I don’t see what the problem is but I’ve tried the Genus heads and I feel like they’re all the same and no separation between the heads. What I wish for is for people to do more for LAQ, I bought an LAQ head for my alt and the animations are amazing, not only that but for furniture the head works wonderful I just wish people would make more LAQ things. It’s frustrating wearing only one skin when I log in on her.

    • My Genus works fine, honestly. However … as a shape maker – I will say that Catwa is much easier to design for. I like both Catwa and Genus, and switch back and forth often.

Genus is so easy for me to create shapes with. only “down side” is that all the shapes you make for one head can be worn with the other 2. which means less shapes need to be made. i cant create shapes for Catwa, as much as i love their heads. they all end up looking like…. how do i put it…… fishbowls. round fat heads xD

    • When I came to ww (or woodcrest) I was new to RP all together, this was when the sim was still with Missing Mile. I guess I upset some of the people there because more than once she had to “talk to me”. I wouldn’t say she was mean. Stern yes; when needed, but more so patient. She worked with me and helped me understand the basic parts of roleplaying. When I messed up she explained where the problem was and why others may have been upset over it. I understood things with her and never felt dumb for having a question. She was a constant there as I would come and go with RL. Now that she’s not there I just don’t get that same feeling of security. English is not my first language. I don’t think I am bad at it, she made me feel like I had a right to be there too. I miss her.
