  2. #33 – You can’t possibly think that dances can work for every single shape in SL. You realize it would be impossible to create a dance or any animation for that matter, that works with every single avatar in Second Life right? If you want dances and animations that work perfectly with your avatar, learn to make them yourself and customize them to your shape.

    I think Sync’d animations are pretty damn good actually…most of my dances are from them and I’ve never had an issue.

    • They are, but the “models” they use in their promotional videos are poorly chosen, nearly always have fucked up disproportionate shapes, and they cut the videos together so randomly that it’s impossible to tell what the dances actually look like. I have a shitton of their dances, but MOVE! does bento better, and has gotten better than Sync’d lately IMO

  4. #26 – I have the Taketomi hair…loved it, love it still…stopped wearing it as the complexity was quite high, 41k without the cute bear clips. I just went to Kustom9 to check out the BonBon hair…and lmao, WHAT! 145k complexity. And it’s SO ugly…it has nicer hair textures, esp for the pastels and such, but omg lol…that hair is made for people with pinhead heads. DEFINITELY NOT worth the 309L they’re asking for it. Lol…just lol.

Whether you choose to laugh, watch, and comment and enjoy the hysteria or hop on a morally superior high horse trotting along “the high road,” she is never going to stop. If you don’t enjoy the comments about her, then just shut up and suffer in silence rather than accepting it for what it is, taking her with a grain of salt, and laughing at SecondLife’s most dedicated court jester.

      • She needs a carer. Someone to monitor her and make sure she’s doing normal adult things to maintain a quality of living both on and offline. Why she hasn’t been registered for such only begs the question of if anyone in her life has directed medical professionals to just how bad she is. Because if her doctors are relying on her telling them how far gone she is, then nothing will ever change for her since it’s doubtful that she’s able to.

      • @Pocketsands, she does absolutely. But from all I have seen in this past year( not 2, 3 or 5years) I really don’t think her family cares. At this point with FB, the other site to which has no name here, and all the other social media crap she has tied her name too, if they haven’t done something by now, then it’s likely they don’t care and have washed their hands of her. By right she is an adult and unless something drastic happens, not saying this isn’t drastic and insane, it’s possible to say they won’t get involved unless made to. Best thing all of us can do is just go on our lives. No one can see her posts, though she keeps trying, believing we can.

        I personally moved on. I have made my points, laid out clearly the why’s and what nots and still nothing will stop her from this insanity she has. She wants to believe and think what she wants in her twisted version of reality. Nothing any of us can do. We have all tried.

SL was ruined as soon as people opened up charity events and stole the fucking money. SL was ruined when creators were fleecing customers and thought they were too stupid to notice.         Verbal manifestation is nothing but a character but its the only way they learn, because as you have seen being nice gets no results. I have said to them over and over, these people don’t seem to get it. You can see how these people are, even when they are talked to in a nice manner. They have been conditioned to hate regardless of what’s being said to them. If they went to anger management etc, the first thing they would be told is to free themselves, talk about what provokes your anger. These people cannot, because they would first have to say what it is that annoys them. That would give the identity away or why they are angry, which would make them look so stupid in an open forum, people would laugh at them. Trust me, I have heard some of the reasons. Most of it just passed down regurgitated claptrap. Scenario being where Asshole friend starts issues with person but because the asshole is my friend, I side with him/her rather than get an idea on the person he fell out with. Logic being Asshole does no wrong, other person bad!

        Look at how they react here, as soon as something sensible is said they take the mouse and mash it into the bloody screen “Fuckin Gobshite, i show him.         I was in SL yesterday for 10 minutes, listening to people losing their minds and talking about all the wrong things on this subject rather than the right ones. I came off and played Overwatch. I rather play that than listen to boys talking shit. They never learn, fuck they would actually kiss, snog, fuck the people causing them more problems, than open up a friendship to someone half decent. Did I really say all that ? As I said, some people are not innocent and some people really need to get off the soapbox, look at themselves and see them as the problem and not create scapegoats. That kid will go back and nothing will change because people can’t change.
        They pick up on people dislikes and think if you dislike a popular person, you must be such and such. Again are they looking at themselves. If i said “I hate Jordy” they be all fine, come in, have the fucking milkshake. Hypocrites and if you go against these people, they don’t like it. They are conditioned that way. Some of these people are too into social and small time shit that’s unimportant, rather than the big issues longterm. But these people hate the wrong people constantly and don’t do enough to change peoples attitudes. That is what I dislike, dishonesty. If people gave me a list of boys I dislike, I happy reel off why with no hesitation. If they wanted to talk about it, I talk. So talk !

        The “I stand with Asshole”. I want to disagree. I have stood against friends who dislike others they don’t like. It is my choice. Problem is it’s that popularity peer pressure desire to fit in that makes many side with their friends. Now I have stood with others against those that have repeatedly caused trouble, because evidence and my own dislike of them has won out. But I have learned that, some people just simply are not my taste and they can then bugger off. I make my own judgements, not everyone will do that.

        As for just talking… it doesn’t always work. I can say over and over again why I dislike an individual. Will they listen? No. Because it does not suit their fallacy. I have said through so many channels and ways why this person will never be liked by me. EG being one particular, they stalked my ex and I. If that action had never happened, my utter dislike of them would have been simply a dismissal and never another thought. But they simply could not help but stalk him, and ultimately me.

        This can be said of others as well. Your reason or anothers reason for not talking may not have been anything but a general dislike of a person. Not everyone will be friends, look at Anime and Yourself. Will talking help? Likely not. It is just the way of our world and the generational gaps we have.

        I am with you on the social aspect. That is why SL does not dominate my life now as it did in the past. Not because of anyone or any event, but my own desire to see my long term personal goals happen. And quite frankly I am happy with my own company and don’t need a lot of friends. But that has come with age and understanding. This younger generation is fixated on the moment, but the older generation has impressed that upon them. Be present in the moment, have friends, be social and socially liked, stand with the in crowd, don’t stand out, etc.

        Those are my thoughts. I am also tired.

  23. 35- I’m having fun watching all the fake artists and artist wanna be’s get all paranoid because the conversation they have dreaded and tried to hide for years on sl is finally starting to take place.

    • More like many of us who have been here for years, have seen this very thing go around before, including LL doing a creator registry at one time as well. Back around 2013-2014, then CEO Ron Humble tried to get a program off of the ground, where you had to register in order to be able to create. It didn’t work out well. There have also been other groups that have tried to do this exact same thing and each time it turned into an elitist group mentality and it went south each time. They basically want to set up a watchdog-type of group to ensure the legitimacy of creations, which in theory sounds good but, who watches the watchdog here? Who should really run something like this? How are they going to ensure an unbiased and fair system is in place and stays that way? Who do these “professionals” answer to, if they go sideways here? How are they going to safeguard against this type of system from being abused? On top of all that, how are they going to consistently keep up with that workload, from checking other creators’ items AND keep creating themselves? That was one of the reasons it was dropped by LL, the workload alone was insane. They couldn’t keep up with it and that is a large company. There is too many questions, not enough answers and no way to guarantee that this is not going to get abused and turned into an elitist group.

I for one would love to know which stores are real artists behind their meshes, it’s nice to know. Where is all this talk about sharing work files, judging, policing mesh quality comes from? I keep going over her facebook post trying to find where this is all coming from and I can’t find it. All it says is that it’s group for artists who have ethical values and do their own work. Not sure where all the paranoid stuff is coming from.

      • I’m sure a lot of us think it’s a good idea but not the way ther’re going to do the verifications. Who is gonna verify those creators who are going to give the licenses? No one? They will be automatically licensed because they’re running this thing? As I said, it’s a really good idea but should be made by PROFESSIONALS and not by other creators. Also there’re a lot of stores who are a team and they don’t want to/can’t reveal who make their meshes, riggings, textures or whatever, then they are not ethical creators because they won’t be able to get the license because of the privacy with their team?? For sure if I were a designer I wouldn’t send my files to another designer to get their approval lol why should I trust with someone I don’t know and it’s not someone qualified for this job? What if they use my items? And also, why the other creators involved on this are hidden?

        Also there is no such a thing as “they can’t reveal who makes their meshes”. Making that statement shows you know nothing about art industry. Every artist is credited for the work they do. If the said artist wants to remain anonymous, all the power to them, what does that have to do with someone else taking fake claim and credit? Just say “I don’t make my own meshes, my mesher wishes to remain anonymous.” This is not about WHO makes your mesh, this is about are YOU making your own meshes, yes or no. This is not a group to judge you based on that either, this is simply a group for artists who’s answer would be a YES. How is this even a problem for anyone? So what if a group of artists who DO make their own meshes as a team or solo want to be part of a group that indicates and assures customers they are the artists behind their brand not some “professional mysterious person who doesn’t wish to be revealed!”

      • Those are all legitimate questions and the fact that you want to downplay it your first sentence hints towards the fact that no one has those answers. You may want to read that thread better as well, because there was talk about sharing and checking WIP’s in there, to ensure that creators are making what they claim. As per her post, in her own words, “Businesses who are certified will be required to show proof of creation of their mesh, for example (but not limited to): live-streaming, video tutorials, q&a sessions & the like.” That’s policing.

      • The only legitimate question is, Are you making your own meshes? If not why are you lying and claiming that you are? That is the only legitimate question that has been asked. Real artists are sick and tired of SL cashiers pretending to be artists and meshers just because they sell something someone else made on SL.

        PS If you outsource your meshes and are honest about it, all the power to you, this is not about you.

It’s a bit like your local Denny’s getting up in arms over the new cafe that opened down the street that publicizes “Fair Trade Coffee.” This is nothing new in the world of commerce today and why many (not all) large corporate entities hate aware consumers. Just ask ConAgra. Promoting awareness to consumers is often attacked as being “elitist.” Usually led by those who have something to hide. Their lobbyists exclaiming, “Only an elitist would care about the ingredients in a ConAgra Slim Jim.”

      With that said, If they ever come up with a badging system for Strippers in SL do count me in on the vetting panel. I promise to not be “elitist.” Just don’t call me Slim Jim.

      • Reading more about people’s thoughts here I find it interesting that many take aim in that it will somehow proportionally disadvantage smaller brands. If SL commerce is indicative of RL the fact is that it will most likely offer a better recognition of the smaller brands who are, for lack of a better term, more “artisanal” in their approach. I believe the benefit will be just the opposite of what people perceive. Just like restaurants that highlight local privately owned farms they source from – this is an opportunity for consumers to have provenance to the smaller creators in SL who work in a more individual manner. It should encourage those same smaller creators with more recognition – thereby stimulating diversity in products and more creativity. Leveling the playing field is the furthest thing from elitist you can get.

      • @Slingshot I wish I knew who you are, because you have worded this better than anyone has yet. I believe that people who are here opposing it are posing as “small” brands who are concerned. They are in fact the brands who are doing the lying and deceiving regarding their business practices. I’d bet my house on it, any artist solo or in a team who do their own work for their brand wants customers to know, and they want a separation from those who are just running a business on SL.

      • I am am the solo creator for my brand, but I also consider my store a business, I’m not here doing it as a hobby just because I’m solo. I take pride in creating a variety of products that aren’t what you will see straight off pinterest, and therefore, are not found on these 3d modelling sites.

        My main issue with this is that one of the people on board claims to be a ‘professional’ artists, yet I have never seen them show any proof of their claims, only them barking at anyone they can about how the way they mesh and texture is wrong, and their way is right. I can totally understand why many people don’t want to sit there having someone as, quite frankly, up themselves as this guy, judging everything they do so they can get some little ‘badge’ of approval.

        This is the case of creators who think they are it and a bit, wanting to look down on other creators. They can take that and shove it. I know what I create, and anyone who looks at my products can see they are unique to what you will see anywhere else, I have nothing to prove.

From what I can see from my distant seat is that it is actually honoring your artisanal creativity and encouraging you to grow as a unique and individual artist. I have no idea who is barking at whom, but it seems that by creating your own mesh, whether some like it or not, you are in a position to benefit from this far more than others.

      • From what I have heard, they plan to have you stream yourself meshing something to prove to them you can. The ‘professional’ I’m referring to, I have seen them publicly start harping on at a number of other creators, good creators, that the way they mesh is not industry standard, the way they texture is incorrect, etc.
        The way in which he has admonished people is not in a polite constructive way, but a condescending wanker kind of way.
        I for sure am not going to put my hand up to have some guy, who has never shown an iota of proof that he even is the professional he says he is, sit there and start lecturing me on how I work because he wants to push that he is some kind of industry elite artist.

        Artistic interpretation is as varied as there are artists. Perceived “industry standards” change almost weekly, if not daily. People will learn and move on.       I left the mer group because I didn’t have time for it, I wasn’t really a part of it anymore due to being gone a lot due to stuff going on in my RL, and honestly I felt it was the most drama free way to let everything go, was doing so that way and walking away from it. I left it with people that were already running everything, so honestly, no one should have really missed me. It was just easier to do that then to leave it in my name and have people keep coming to me about lost ims and events etc, when I didn’t have the time for it.

      As for my alt, yes I have one. Viktor is my alt. I use him for photography purposes as shown in that photo. Why? Because it’s easier than going around in group chats begging for someone to show up for a photo, come dressed how I want for said photo, and then deal with me getting the photo set up how I want etc. It’s just easier for me to set up my alt and do the photo as I please when I please.

The difference will be less egregious in other positions, obviously, but unless your shin bone is at least twice as long as your foot, your feet are still disproportionately big, whether they “look too small” or not. If you have any flat position shoes that actually make your feet small, I’d be willing to bet your mesh feet are removed/alpha when you wear them.

        The rl argument about big feet is cute, and probably your best bet. I’d stick with that instead of insisting you’re proportionate.

    Probably would make the userbase a little bit more informed about mesh itself and understanding about good mesh and bad mesh, not asking dumb questions, a little more forgiving on creators, etc.

    Won’t happen though, the easier route is to learn gimp or PS in a couple months and make some quick L’s texturing forgettable junk as opposed to spending 6 months to a year learning blender and making something original. The messed up thing is, there are some people that do great textures for templates. If they took time to learn to mesh, there’d be a lot less shit products out there.

    • Learning to make mesh is not a 5-6 months ordeal. This is a whole degree that we are talking about. Which is why most creators that were here before mesh left. It’s why creativity has been replaced by the same outfits coming out from different designers with different details. It’s why long skirts or dresses aren’t made, and it’s why the same furniture seems to be popping up. And why many of the new creators you see, have RL degrees within mesh making or have been doing this for other games as their RL profession. These aren’t the stay at home moms, or the hobbyists anymore which SL was in theory built for, these are people that come in exclusively to make mesh and sell it in games.

      It’s not about creators being lazy. Of course, some will be. But not all. The issue with mesh and mesh modelling is that it takes a long time to get things right. Mesh isn’t you sitting with blender for hours. It’s you understanding how the mesh vertexes behave, how you should create a garment to not cause lag. Should you mesh the inside or make it invisible to not cause lag? How it should rig to each body. The weight etc. If it were that easy, you’d be seeing way more creators coming into the world and making.
      Instead what you see are the same creators with different accounts mesh making and texturing under different alias.

      If it were that easy, I suggest all of you that tend to bitch about creators, to actually sit down and try to learn it. Put your own skills to the test. And hey, you may end up being a great creator.

      • There are so many stores I’ve never heard of popping up. You are correct above. I have h&g builder friends who have learnt to make mesh and always say its a steep learning curve. You see their mesh improve over time – usually months to years. When I see a designer pop up with high end mesh immediately, it always sets of warning bells for me, especially if they arent known for making their own items. Are they as you say above – already well versed in making mesh, having mesh made for them by an SL builder (which is completely ok) or are they just buying it off 3d modelling websites to cash in on the popularity of “original mesh only” events. The last does a huge disservice to those who do work hard to make their own mesh, the event organisers who trust designers are being honest with them and shoppers (those who care) who believe they are supporting hard working designers in SL.

      • Oh I see those too. Many actually different alts to the same creators.
        Let’s say I make clothes and am a top designer but I already have someone working under me at this point, making the mesh and maybe even texturing some pieces. I then create an alt, to do items that I really want to do or to go for another market that I didn’t have the time to do before.

      The issue with mesh and template makers and colorists.

      The reason why you keep seeing the same type of mesh in events, even from SL top creators is because mesh itself is not as easy to make as you claim that it is. Real mesh creating and modelling, which is a job in the real world, is a degree in and itself. Anyone can spend some months learning it, but they may not learn it well enough. It may not be well rigged, well weighed, it may not have the right polygons and vertexes. It may not have good detailing or cause too much lag. Let alone rigging it for all of the mesh bodies in the market, if you want to go for all markets.

      SL was created initially for hobbyists and stay at home mothers, or anyone that wanted to learn to create within a game. It was simpler, it was easier to do things, and ultimately even with sculpts, it was more creative than it is now. Because you didn’t have to spend countless amounts of your money to learn these platforms. What resulted with the creation of mesh is that most of these older designers left or hired mesh creators. Some went on to buy templates. Some eventually learned to modify these templates enough for them to be able to look fresh. Others, learned to do mesh yes. But most of the top mesh creators that you see here today, are professional mesh makers. They do this for a living across several games.

      So it’s not as easy as just learning. It’s more complex. If it were that easy, there would be more originality in what you see from top creators and you’d see way more people mastering mesh.

      • No it wouldn’t, people are just lazy. There’s no degree in mesh modeling. You can take classes for it, but you can also watch tutorials and learn yourself. Watch videos by flippednormals on YouTube. They explain a lot of professionals got their start by just messing around with blender.

        Notice, I didn’t say it would be easy. I also said, six months to a year to learn. Not 5-6 months to master. If you have enough free time to be a dramatic thot on SL, you have time to learn something on SL, yes even mesh.

        Stop pretending it’s magic. There’s a lot of work involved sure. It’s definitely not out of the scope of the average person to learn and do. First you learn how to model, then you learn to texture, then you learn to rig and that’s only if you’re trying to make clothes. That’s what avastar is for. Again, not easy, but doable.

        By doing that, just spending an hour two a day, you’ll learn how a good 60% of SL works.

      • Yes there is. My friend works in California making mesh models for an enterprise. He is incredibly well versed in mesh and is always stating that SL lacks in a lot of areas. Considering he built his whole job from his degree and has a good job, he doesn’t like to create with SL due to it’s lack of the basics that help to improve mesh performance.

      • Just wanna correct you on one point. There are totally degrees in mesh and game design. Usually the layman umbrella it falls under is “graphic design” for the uninitiated, but there are specialized degrees for it from a number of art schools.

      • The degree is not for it in particular, but it is what you learn through the degree process. I’m sure that there are some very talented mesh creators in the real world that didn’t necessarily study that. But those are not the norm . The same as there are Programmers that studied Accounting instead but because they are good at writing code, they can move up into that world through the accounting areas. Again, those are not the norm, they are the exceptions to the norm.

        So what I’m saying is this: the average SL user can learn to use Blender proficiently in 6 month to a year. Gee, I wonder why I’m saying that? You don’t even have to know how to use all of the features of Blender, because they’re unnecessary. Blender 2.8 is much more user friendly and intuitive. Modeling >Texturing>Rigging. Some people already know how to texture, that just leaves modeling and rigging. Avastar does most of the heavy lifting as far as rigging. That’s six months to a year if you devote enough time to it. They even have free classes in SL that teach you how to model.

        People don’t do it because it’s easier to just texture. That’s lazy, plain and simple. I’m not saying you’re going to be Blueberry in a year, but you’ll able to make what you want in a year.

      • Totally agree. I didn’t do a degree to learn, just spending a few hours a day watching videos and actually experimenting in Blender. It does take time. I’m at around to 4 year mark now of having been learning, and I still learn new things. I can say I feel my skills are at a very high level now though, and the speed at which I can create is easily 30 times what it was when I started. The time I put in paid off and I now call SL my full time job.

        Yes, it is difficult, no it’s not impossible. It makes me so mad everytime I hear people say “Ohh, that’s too hard for me, I’m just going to sit over here looking pretty, I don’t have your talent”. It’s not talent, it’s dedication to learning something.

        Put in the time, it’s worth it.

If you know his RL story then shame on that person for posting what they did. Chris does a good job under difficult circumstances, which many people would not have the patience, drive or creativity to do. He should be applauded, not bashed. As for his avatar – who the fuck cares. He can look however HE wants to look. His av looks good. I’ve seen WAY worse in SL .

      • The best part of SL is that if you don’t like what someone makes, no one is forcing you to buy it. But as stated above, if anyone knew the story of the man behind the mesh they would be in awe of his talent given some of the challenges he faces. But what’s even better about Chris is that he doesn’t give a crap about what people think, he makes things that HE likes and enjoys and sells them so that anyone else who is into his aesthetic can buy them. He’s an amazing guy who isn’t all too concerned about his avi but who cares deeply for the people who surround him with the love and light he deserves.     Several people lost Flickr accounts this week because of your reporting, reporting that never touched the real ageplay people nor every kid on SL Flickr because they do the same as each other. The people who lost accounts were all people who had clean pictures and nothing different to all, they also incidentally had free Flickr accounts and were all SL male kids. Even Tommy Numbers lost an account, which was funny because his account never had very much in it. In all… every account you targeted to be malicious and difficult towards. Not one female or really offensive site was touched and there are a good few, so what gives with that ? And that my friend, gave you away and most people know what went on. Instead of being honest and address your issues with people openly, you went and pulled a malicious move to paint something as really bad. I don’t give a shit coming forward, I rather you come and address your bullshit openly to me and to the others you reported, but seeing you hide in here to go through your toxic issues and end up hating yourself or me or whoever, where your only goal and pleasure in life is to pick and makes peoples live a misery… then good on you. It won’t change you, that’s how you are.

    My pictures were seen openly by others and kept a clean site, where pictures were used on other peoples sites often. They were visited often and openly seen, was never a problem for years until you came around and started to report several people for whatever interpretation on people you made. There was not one unclean picture on my site and most can clarify that, but for some reason SMUGMUG started to place so many rules and regulations that almost all SL Flickr creators are breaking ( if you read the rules, you will see whats going on). All my stuff was no different to other people posting including the most popular, but you looked at it and chose to pick on several other people that were either making fun of your shit, laughing about how far you go with your special blend of fuck up . Maybe cause I banned you off my land, maybe because I make fun of you every week.. tho who really knows what is bugging your shit. You can’t solve what you can’t talk about. Yes I know I have a pile of people who don’t like me , but meh… can’t educate people who can’t see past their own BS. I am not upset at losing my Flickr, far better things to do and hardly posted much anyways . And after this who would want to be part of Flickr? , with the way they treat customers.     • Last night was very interesting indeed. The stories coming out from both Arbordale and Neverland were illuminating to say the least. This is what was said

      In 4 cases, Yuu Enimo was directly finger pointed at the blame because of several instances

      1- One person was targeted because of years long hatred
      2- One was targeted because he had called Yuu Enimos relative a pervert, so motivation to report is there. The kid was also part of the Youngstars people and that was also a possible motive for sabotage.
      3- In the Numbers case, it was highlighted because Yuu and his friends do not like Tommy
      4- One boy was targeted on the back that Marcus has the boy as a son on the other grid. And in a fit of jealousy, decided to attack as well.
      This explains the obsessive nature that many people were talking about this incident and some are very unhappy some very good photographers were targeted.
      It was also mentioned that Yuu had been also setting up some fake conversations with Skippy Beresford a few months prior. In three cases, the affected people noticed a drop in ratings and followers, so this was not a spur of the moment thing.

      If this you Yuu, my fucking god. You are playing against everything your SL father has built. You are a fucking liability and should be fucking ashamed to even show your face on the grid. How two fucking faced, to report the father of the person who gave your people a lot of attention and time. Now if you are innocent, feel free to come on here and state your case.       • There are more ways of violating copyright laws, than just ripping mesh from a game. You have to be really careful with doing this because images can be also copyrighted. An example is photographers. They do copyright their images and some games do have a copyright on the concept/image of their characters in games. Before being “inspired” always double-check to make sure they didn’t do that, on top of their normal copyrights. The hair from both of the creators, is a replica, right down to the hair bands in the hair.
