      • Do you do a background check on the people you interact with in SL? Do you solidly know 100% that they themselves are not perverts? Because that is where the problem lies. We don’t know 100% anyone in SL. I hate to tell you this, but sometimes people lie. So with that being said, say theoretically you find out that someone close to you actual is a kid pervert. In RL this person should not be around kids and might have some criminal sexual charge against kids on their record. If that happened would it be safe to say that them being around kids in SL might be a trigger for them? A trigger that they might exercise on child in RL? That is the problem I have with kids in SL. You are unknowingly triggering people who have issues and you don’t even know it. Worst of all….you guys don’t care either. You do have power, stop being the trigger.

        I have PTSD in real life and one thing I’ve had thrown in my face is that it’s not the responsibility of other people to limit and censor themselves for the sake of not triggering me.         Kid avatars are not sexual in nature. If merely seeing a child triggers someone to molest, how on earth do they survive in the real world?

Since you mentioned that you have PTSD, you might have a person you talk to in RL. Throw this concept/topic to them and see what their professional opinion of it is.

      • There is no scientific evidence that being around children in SL makes you more likely to offend on children in RL. Until there is, I think making such claims is quite frankly irresponsible and lacking in common sense.

Not only that but some people sit on SL refuse to understand other people, and of course why would they?         I can’t comment regarding the ability to be on the internet with the exception of many times I’ve seen people released and part of their release wasn’t restriction on Internet (and I have seen that restriction done on someone who has gone to jail for computer crimes) but I’m sure it exists.

        Each state has different regulations regarding sex offenders but they are almost all in a database that is searchable. We’ve had several people’s database searches get submitted as secrets in the past. Some more graphic than others. Long story short Second Life is a place where pedos can act out their fantasies in ‘role play’ and not get arrested since both people are considered adults and there’s no actual child victim. Will this encourage them to move on to the real thing? I don’t know, anything is possible. I can’t even begin to imagine what goes on in the mind of a sick individual. But there’s my 2-3 cents.

    • For me it is so much more fun roleplaying as a kid than anything else in SL. There’s nothing better than good true roleplay with others (urban, modern family, western, cyberpunk, medieval), especially when you get into defining your core values, developing your character as you go, and making stories with others. I would daresay roleplaying as a kid in many of these settings can be a lot more intense and challenging than almost any other kind of roleplay. Kids have a wide range of emotions and ways of expressing themselves, acting out, etc. It’s definitely a lot more fun than anything else I’ve done. Most of us talk about how we wish we could go back to some of the good times of our childhood and/or relive our childhood. SL gives us that chance. Why not? Like others have suggested here, it’s way better than tripping over someone’s dick or getting poked in the eye. Where’s the fun in that?

Highlander mentality, there can be only one tribe left standing. Fucking hell, it’s not like they could just hang together in their own sim and be happy, noooooo they have to flood out and try to destroy anyone else’s attempt so they are the last tribe standing.

      Of course, SL kid society wouldn’t be complete unless you throw in those perverted fucks who pretend to be 14 years old in real life. Some of these even steal real kid photos so they can catfish up a facebook page. Horrendous, nasty, disgusting – but you will meet them or hear a guest tell you so-and-so is one, and there are a lot more then just Drew.

      And all the time, you have a solid, never-ending influx of perverted lewd femboy rabbits who will try and pixel-fuck anything that moves. Ban them like a game of whack-a-mole but so many them get offended and start a vendetta, filling your IMs with threats and starting alt-storms against the club. And of course, miss even one of these immature “so-horny-they-are-humping-the-furniture” bunnies and the first group of pearl-clutchers will have conniptions and start spreading rumors trying to shut you down.

      Then, on top of it all, you have that absolute hated asshole drunk with the million alts – ColbyDark/Noctis/Skyler/Haru/Schilar… whatever his name is this week… trying to ban others to whitewash his own pedophilic desires. Laying in wait for you to slip up just once so he can pounce.       If you are not 100% mentally fit you will find running a kid’s club impossible to deal with and you will blow up like that screencap shows, but even if you are mentally fit and have good support to keep you in a straight line …. there are still days when you just want to throw up your hands and say “FUCK THE FUCKING LOT OF YOU FUCKING FUCKERS”

      Running a kid’s club in SL is damned hard, don’t be so hard on people who try and fail – at least they tried.

Maybe I was a lot more naive before and didn’t know as much, but it seems the kids community was a lot more pleasant when most of us looked out for each other and weren’t so quick to entertain the obviously toxic types you described above; instead we shunned and banned them (or just didn’t let them in our “group”), leaving them powerless. Even when there were those who of us who didn’t like each other, at least there was a common understanding among us to live and let live; you don’t have to be friends with everybody, but everyone can still play nice. Now days, it’s very few kid places I feel I can go and not see or sense that kid tribe mentality, as you put it. It’s sad because those I used to consider friends are getting caught up in it, even to the point of saying things about me and defriending me for no other reason that I can see. Still there are plenty of other kids in the community that I respect and love, so I do try to get out and show my support when I can. Mainly, I often go it alone. Thankfully, SL has plenty more to offer.

        If someone is 60 and playing in SL is that an issue for you? Do you feel resentment? If so I suggest you find someone to talk to about this and perhaps learn more about the real reason for this anger. I am probably closer to your age (in my 30’s) but I do not harbor such anger to those older – so it’s quite a shock to me. I find many I meet in SL, and of course RL, to be interesting and engaging. Yes, there are some who are lost and without any clue, but for the most part the “older” crowd are wonderful and full of great stories and as fun (if not more fun) than 20-somethings.
