    About events…. People keep posting that events are greedy. This week we have some special snowflake bitching about events expanding. Its time for you all to wake up and realize events are a business. Not a fake business like owning a club or being a DJ. One that actually creates revenue for the owner and the participants. When Starbucks showed up in your neighborhood did you bitch and complain about how greedy they are or did you go pick up your latte? There is no rule that says Second Life events have to be non profits. There is also no rule that they have to provide great content. Events have no control over crappy products. By the time the thing hits the event, the space is paid for, they can present whatever they want as long as it follows the rules. No event owner is walking around before it opens going..”That sucks, you cant sell that here.” And if they did well…please look up Pupito in the dictionary to get an idea of how that turns out.

    About creators….Ok so, you learned how to look up percents on gacha machines. Congrats. You have graduated to the next level called, Understanding What I Am Looking At. Those percents are only relevant to the amount of items in the machine. If there are three items and one rare and the percent is at 5%, you will get a rare plenty of times to satisfy YOUR greed because lets face it, you are are the one needing it all. Please find a new way to express your buyers remorse and take some ownership of your own gluttony.

      I’m afraid that your comment about the probabilities of rare drops falls victim to the gambler’s fallacy. (However, it is applicable to the probability of getting a given common item.) The number of items in the machine has no bearing on the number of rares you will receive if you play a gacha X number of times. It’s entirely up to the probability (i.e., the percentage). Each time you pull the lever, you have Y% chance of getting a rare, and each pull is independent of the ones before it. Let’s consider your three-common and one-rare machine. If the probability of getting that one rare is 5%, then over a very large number of pulls, you’ll get 5 rares every 100 pulls–or, if we reduce that fraction, 1 rare every 20 pulls. The other 19 out of 20 pulls, you will get one of the commons. Assuming that the probability of drawing any given common is the same across all commons, your probability of getting a particular common is (100% – 5%) / 3 = 31.7%.

      Let’s consider another scenario: a gacha that has 19 common items and 1 rare, with the same chance of drawing the rare. Again, because the probability of pulling the rare is 5%, people should expect to receive the rare about once every 20 pulls. However, if we again assume that the probability of drawing each common is the same, then your chance of drawing a given common is (100% – 5%) / 19 = 5%. Ironically, your chance of drawing a particular common is the same as your chance of drawing the rare.

      To all of you out there who are now cursing and saying, “Shit, I played a 5%-rare gacha 20 times and never got a rare,” don’t panic. The whole once-per-20-pulls principle comes into effect only when you have maaaany samples (i.e., lots of people playing the gacha lots of times). If you aggregate everyone’s gacha plays, then you’ll find that, as a whole, people got one rare approximately every 20 pulls.

      TL;DR: You made a valid point about the number of items in a gacha affecting the likelihood of getting a particular item, but it only applies to the commons, not the rares.

        If they make the stupid mistake of not getting to be friends outside of their RP roles, then you see a lot of drama – same as you’d see in any group of rpers who don’t know or care about the person behind the screen. A lot of folks who do SL family rp had shitty childhoods, can’t have kids of their own, want to relive childhood/parenthood, or just enjoy a good family of friends in SL. For every drama llama family posted here, there are five who aren’t like that at all.

The people i call my sl family, are also my friends, people i would (will or already have) meet (met) in RL.     • Pretty sure the point of the secret was that it’s not always about luck. Some of the designers set the rare drop rates really low. 5%? That’s low as hell. Lowest I’ve seen, anyway. Most drops are about 7 or 8% for a low rate.
      Their point was that some of the designers in events intentionally set low rates like that to milk more L. The fact a big store like reign has a significantly higher rate than those other two in that picture is quite sad.
      You don’t need to spend money on those machines to call attention to the greed.

I’ve played gachas, I set my limit on pulls based on how much it costs and if I’m ok with receiving any single one of the items. Otherwise I don’t waste my time, it’s simple. If I can do it you can too…then it doesn’t matter what the percentages are. From a business standpoint I get setting low percentages on certain items if it was really complex to create, because you won’t be selling it for outright lindens so you have to make sure to cover the cost difference. BUT I do also get that it sucks that you’re less likely to get the item you want and it also sucks when they set that percentage on an item that probably didn’t take them anymore time or effort than whatever is common. That being said, that’s where your choices come into play…make them wisely!

        Because like we see the alts here, there is a big fat cover up in what they are and why they do things. I can handle insults, water off a ducks back but they cannot even lay claim to the other things being said that they should do. That would make them believable and at least credible. They can’t, because they are uncovered why they do things. They have no explanation, they come here to hurl the insults and that’s about all. They don’t go to Golden or to Misfitz etc because they have no reason to. They are not about cleaning up the grid, they are bitter and angry twats who don’t like boys cause they are assholes who are bitter about the the community. It’s well known .
