  3. Late to the discussion but I feel like the body discussion is useless people will buy what they like. If you don’t like it doesn’t mean others won’t and just because you think you are pointing out better qualities in something, for someone else that could be the qualities they don’t want. I am just glad we all have choices. Suck it up buttercups <3

  4. I really wish this trend of women dressing like slutty children will already stop. Most of the women doing this have kids in reals and are yet fine with making their avatar as a sexy child for their “daddy”. Yes it’s a game, some say it’s kink- but the only kink I can see with a woman child is perverted . Wake up and think of your own kids, fine example you mommies are setting.

  5. I used to think I really know what was going on in SL. Most of what I read this week left me going….”Huh?”

    The only thing I’ve really paid attention to is the Cheeky Pea business. Personally, I think the market is way over saturate with half assed events. I used to hit all of the big ones and drop a significant amount of money because content was new and creative and unique. It’s all gotten to be the same old junk lately. I’ve easily slashed my budget by 75% because there is precious little that catches my eye anymore. When there is a new event opening every other day (or so it seems), no one is spending time to truly create. Deadlines are being met (sort of) at the cost of creativity.

  6. i think people fail to realize how copyright works. if there is a slight difference it is a nock off .. the Mickey Mouse straws are more rounded where as the real i ones would have a defined circle as the ear.. this is the same with designer logos and brand in the real word..

    • I agree. I am always thinking that people are always complaining this person and that person copied from someone else. In the real world it happens with tiny adjustments. You go into a grocery store and there is a name brand corn flakes and next to it the exact same corn flakes but a store name. Copying someone else is always going to happen because someone will always come up with a great idea that someone else will like and want to put their own twist on it.

  7. Mesh body history.

    Slink Physique was out before Maitreya did Lara. (adding this in later) I think it was TMP that was the first to do a full body. But their business plan is shady. So Lara was not first. There are 2 things that brought us to where we are now regarding Maitreya being the 1 body.

    1. Something lots of business owners in SL neglect then they whine they are only making a pittance. MARKETING!! Maitreya was a big a name for years and years. Then they knew how to market. They marketed the shit out of Lara. They also teamed up with other stores so that when Lara came out, there was lingerie, skin appliers and Maitreya does clothes and shoes. So you could buy the body then grab some appliers and get clothes right on the da of release.

    2. Smart business sense. Maitreya only handed out their body kits to a select few people from the start. Those kits didn’t go the little unknown stores. They went to the big names. And even if you got the kit you had a sign away your life (not figuratively). There really was an agreement you had to sign. So for a long time only those top elite stores had access to the dev kit to make anything for Lara.

    There is a whole bunch of other shit Maitreya did that made her body more desirable to customers but thats what she did.

    Now lets address why so many stores do Maitreya exclusve. Its not only because its the most popular body by a huge margin. Its because making clothes mesh bodies is extremely time consuming. Every single body has its own rigging, its on quirks and headaches. A store with just one person can’t keep up making clothes for 3 or 4 bodies. Thats why some of the most successful stores have teams or outsource. That way they can make for all bodies.

    Now do I think Lara is the best body? Nope I like thicc and curvy shapes. Can’t get a really good thicc and curvy shape with Lara. You can get a nice white girl curvy shape, but after a certain point it looks nasty if you take the sliders too far.

    I prefer Slink Hourglass, its not perfect but you can get a nice thicc curvy shape on there that isn’t distorted. I never liked Belleza’s shapes and it never got much support with clothes or skins. In fact for awhile you couldn’t even get skin applier for Belleza’s body out side of a Belleza’s skin.

    I quit blogging over 2 years ago. I quit for a number of reasons one of the main ones is blogger group managers and owners who acted like blogging pixels was a paid full time job. Fuck that noise. I got a job that actually pays the bills. SL is a hobby.
    Another reason is that there was maybe 10 stores, 15 tops, that made items that were quality. I’d look at items at events and it all started to look meh. Then blogger photography was either one of 2 things:
    * Totally artsy with tons of Photoshop where you can’t expect the items in the pics to look like the product.
    or
    * Ghetto Fabulous Whore Couture. Do I need go into a detailed description?

    Anyway Lara got to where it is for several reasons, and one of them are simple or easy to erase.

    • I can relate. LOL ghetto fab whore .. I refuse to use the word couture with that LOL. Also there are some blogger managers who feel the need to micromanage the shit out of people. This is SL not RL. I make art for a hobby and not for someones approval. You like me or you don’t. So the designer likes me and the blogger manager is jealous…. I don’t have time for that. I do my own thing in my own time unless I am being paid then I will hoof-it. There is a reason I don’t overlap designers in a category, I need time for RL. Also I am not a blogger just for the free stuff… I like a designer, they are friends, their business is important to me… thats why I blog. But back to the topic….. Maitreya did a bunch of things right to get where they are. Belleza didn’t do a bunch of things and got to where they are. My personal favorite mesh bodies are Belleza but I went to Maitreya now and then out of necessity. Many designers do not have time to rig for 10 dif bodies and after rigging for Maitreya with appliers which are diffecult… they are done and have no energy for 5 more bodies. I can relate to that. SL is a hobby and if its an RL business these decisions are theirs to make not ours.

      • See thats the thing about many store owners, definitely not all. The big successful store owners know its a business. If you are getting regular RL money and depend on that money like regular income, then SL is not a hobby. But some of these stores like to play it both ways. When its time to cash out and get paid its “woe is me, this is my job my business I need to cash out to get paid. I make my living this way.” But when a customer demands better service, options customer service its “woe is me, this is just a hobby its not RL.”

        Meanwhile I’m like bullfuckingshit, if you depending on this income to pay bills its not a hobby its a business and treat it that way.

        Also notice I don’t use the word “designer”. Most of the stores in SL don’t design shit. Anyone that has the talent to design clothes or furniture pieces they are making bank in RL, not pawning off pixels for pennies. Its been said so many times. Oh that bench is “inspired” by RL. Yeah someone in RL designed that bench you been inspired by. There is very little if any originality in SL fashion and housewares.

      • yeah they have to get their ideas from somewhere. Many things have aspects of RL or are made to look just like RL but with a different name. If you cant have something in RL because its too expensive you can most likely get it in SL 🙂

    • Other reasons:

      Slink wanted you to buy hands and feet separate at first and each pose/state was a separate purchase. Pre-bento obviously but if you hadn’t gone into buying Slink hands and feet already, the cost of those plus body was a turn off.

      Maitreya decided to not only have Lara come with hands and feet but to be compatible with Slink hands and feet. That was a biggie for people who owned Slink hands and feet already but did not like Physique or Belleza. They didn’t need to give up their shoes and nail polish if they wanted to buy Lara.

      Belleza had a copyright controversy and during that time, no demo for Venus was available. You were just expected to buy the pack with Isis and Freya. I really feel this hurt Belleza because Venus was supposed to be the “generic” body with Freya being thick and Isis being petite. No demo plus someone saying they were going to file charges.. yeah, not great for business.

      I remember when Slink was the body everyone was latching onto, Maitreya had to market hard to get where it’s at now. Other bodies could have done the same. I think Slink sat back on their laurels and expected their name to make them #1. It didn’t. Physique size is often left out now or replaced by Hourglass.

      I gotta say tho, you got the white girl curvy/chubby thing right. That’s what I went for and Lara can do that fine. If I was going to do anything PoC chubby, I’d probably get Freya.

      • Honestly I’m not a fan of the breasts and torso on Belleza bodies. But I understand why many like Freya.

      • It works with certain shapes. It’s not my favorite either but I see how it would work well if someone wanted to go for genuinely fat.

      • Belleza released 3 bodies each with 3 different breast versions. That created a lot of confusion for both designers and customers. Customers were confused at how it was all gonna work, and designers were confused wondering if they had to rig for 9 different versions. Maitreya was straight forward, easy to use and compatible with slink.

    • I’ve talked to a few content creators about the Maitreya exclusive thing and they said about as much about the time it takes to rig for multiple bodies, what with deadlines and all.

      Still not gonna stop that conspiracy theory that ‘the Licensing agreement says you must make stuff only for this body’ that surfaces once every blue moon. To be honest, I’m surprised that this rumor didn’t pop back up after Catwa’s little stunt. Maybe it’s because of that and TMP that people are willing to believe the worst of content creators.

      • Well that conspiracy is a bunch of bullshit. If you’ve ever watched some of the twitch streams of store owners when they are rigging for bodies and see how long it actually takes, you’d see that the “exclusivity deal” is a bunch of bullshit. This isn’t the old days where people were just rigging for the Ruth body. The work is increased for each body so if you do one of Slink, one Belleza and Maitreya thats 3x the work you used to do. Lots of customers are just very ignorant on what it takes to keep up now.

        Also the creators of the other bodies have themselves to blame also, they didn’t actually make it easy for store owners to create for their bodies. Maya users were having a horrible time with the SLink body for over a year. I’m not even sure its really been fixed now. But by the time it was fixed Maitreya already had a strangle hold on the market.

      People got hung up on “first” and forgot the “cheapest” part; Lara was cheaper with including the feet and hands than Slink ever was, especially with each position for feet and fingers being sold separately. Lara was the earliest on CHEAPEST choice.

    This post will burn me but I’m getting fet up.

    You guys have a problem with me and that’s fine… I don’t blame anybody at all. I’ve treated many people over the years like shit and made plenty of mistakes; often repeatedly that hurt people. I don’t agree with everything that has been said about me but I’m also not going to sit and argue.

    I am an asshole, at times I have been manipulative, unruly, verbally abusive and more. I’ve got problems and some people don’t even know about and haven’t always gotten help for this. This makes socializing with me very difficult at times and for that, I am truly sorry for this whether you believe me or not.

    I know many people have given me ample amount of chances and I’ve ruined them all and created great regret amongst people. It’s to the point where I don’t bother even trying to go back and fix what I’ve done in the past because that ship has sailed. It has nothing to do with me not caring. I just dont feel to waste peoples time when there’s a high probablility I will fuck up as always.

    With all this being said… I would appreciate if people would quit targetting Tyler. He is not guilty of anything besides caring about someone who has wronged other people. He is a decent guy who is foolish to see the good in me despite many talks of how broken and fucked in the head I am. People can think and say what they want of me… but just because you are affiliated with a less than desireable person doesn’t make you the same as them.

    We all have that one person that people hate in our circle at some point in our lives. I am his unfortunately. Him and his son are good people so hate on me bit please leave them alone.

    • Honey, you can’t argue because you know it’s the truth. I guess when you fuck & fuck over so many people, silence will break. You only did this to yourself. I’m sorry you face internal issues, as do many people on Second Life, but they don’t have to transmit their issues into aggressiveness or performing sexual acts that would be deemed illegal in real life. I do hope you one day break away from this mess and get yourself on the right side of the tracks, but until then… people are still going to hate on you because of the situations you keep putting yourself into. It’s just the sad reality.

  16. what i dont understand about this mesh body argument is if chicks are going to make their avas into a big huge fat women, at least make it look realistic. no fat people have thigh gaps you can park a winnebago in or super model bone structure in their faces. from where im sitting it looks like those complaining about the maitreya being incapable of having “real curves” are the ones who have no concept of reality. its called slider abuse, people. and there was a whole blog dedicated to it.

    • I honestly don’t know where they are coming from with the claims that Maitreya cannot have “real curves”. If you know how to create a shape, you can have curves with that body. I have both Maitreya and Belleza and both have their pros and cons. From my understanding, eBody is also very nice, both versions but once again, they have pros and cons as well. Really, it comes down to a matter of style and taste. Everyone is different so they will want different things from their mesh.

      As for those who claim they have “real curves” that no one else can seem to get with the other forms, what they have was the inability to stop pushing those sliders over to insane levels and warping the mesh. Those would be the same people I bet that go to clothing creators, bitching that the clothes and textures are warped and not fitting right and doing weird things. Then, they get all in a huff about a creator mentioning that they may have to bring their shape down to something that actually is more reasonable and realistic.

      • I mean I wouldn’t say Maitreya doesn’t have “real curves” but if your hoping to be a plus size avatar Maitreya isn’t the best for it. Typical I like to add both fat and stomach so I can look more like a person who was plus size. When you add fat and a bigger stomach to Maitreya you have the pointest hips and you look pregnant. TBH though I think most people complain about Maitreya saying it’s bad it’s not because it actually is bad (it’s great for non-plus size curvy and thin avatars) but rather because they’re extremely frustrated with the clothing situation where almost everything is a Maitreya exclusive. It’s extremely frustrating to go to an event and only be able to buy 1 or 2 things out 100 for your favorite body. I understand that Maitreya is the most popular but I don’t think it’s that odd to still be frustrated with that situation anyway. It would be nice if you had clothing options when you have a preference for a bigger body (like Belleza Freya or slink hourglass can do) and weren’t forced into wearing a body that doesn’t work for you because there are fewer options for anything but Maitreya. It’s a bit like the clothing situation IRL if your plus size….it sucks to carry that into SL too.

    • Maitreya is the most popular body, not the best by any means. it’s ugly honestly. the nipples are frightening tubes, the legs have no shape at all, the butt is hangy and weird. the saddlebags are too low, the hips are pointy and odd….its ugly unless you want to look like a 13 year old, I guess, and the maitreya exclusiveness needs to stop really. the only reason so many people wear it is because so many creators cater to it.

    • You can be realistically chubby with Maitreya easy. Probably the only body I couldn’t get to be chubby the right way was Hourglass because the mesh insisted on that corset waist. Easiest was Freya though because it’s built bigger but most of them are easy if you understand sliders and don’t crazy abuse them. Body fat doesn’t just go to your hips, butt, and boobs and leave your thighs and waist perfectly petite – that’s the mistake I see people make. I used a combo of body fat, muscle, thickness, and belly sliders to get realistic chubby shapes. If you want the upper end of the plus size scale, I think I’d suggest Freya over Maitreya however.

      I do have to point out something though – a lot of Maitreya clothing is absolute shit and was rigged on a beta Maitreya body meaning it’s not rigged right at the back of the neck/shoulders/back and often at a place where it can’t be alphaed without missing a chunk of visible body and not rigged right at the waist meaning it’s no better than a standard size, any body fat is going to clip because the waist isn’t rigged to work with the body sliders. So even with a shape that’s not slider abuse, you’re going to get bad Maitreya clothing. Especially if it’s template clothes.

    • you wouldnt notice 1/2 the flaws if most of ya.ll hoochies put clothes on… lol all bodies look pretty decent dressed nice..something so many people know nothing about.. lol i have most of the bodies but use mostly maitreya due to fashion reasons.. i liked hourglass and freya but freya has a seriously awful cankle problem that i just cant see past and i stopped using hourglass when the hands went bento and started looking extra lanky.. i think its a matter of how u dress… if you’re going to impress some basement dwelling grease ball who bangs other girls when you log by all means go katana or curvy.. but if you simply can appreciate beautiful clothing pieces maitreya will get you most options. that is all

  17. Damn, this round of SL secrets sucks. Bunch of randos nobody really knows or cares about, and some store drama that’s blown out of proportion. I’ll tune in next Sunday, the bar has been set pretty low from this point.

    • Secrets always ebbs and flows. There are weeks we’ve gotten like 4-7 secrets and some we’ve gotten tons.

      Depends on who gets pissed off or double crossed. That’s what makes secrets.

  19. #8. Please read the rules for the use of those designs even purchased. They can not be used as your own or resold for commercial profit. They are allowed to be used in SL only for the use of personal for yourself. You can not claim as “original work by you” nor can “sell in a shop event etc “. A commercial allowed license is totally different.

    • I think they’re being sarcastic and stating that these are the popular 3D modeling websites that thieves go to, hence the quotations around “designers”. They’re saying happy hunting for those who want to hunt down the originals for proof against thieving designers who pass off things as “their work”.

From the notecard part I seen it sounds as if the gacha itself should remain as a gacha. She has a gacha and fatpack. So if she chooses not to put the gacha in her store then that’s her choice. The fatpack is something new and different and not the gacha itself so it going into the store as a fatpack is a non issue. Sometimes I think people just bash her because they can and don’t really think about the rules and what it really means.

The rules don’t say that the gacha items MUST be sold after the event, which is what this secret is trying to imply. The rules say that IF the items are sold after the event, they must remain as a gacha, they cannot be sold in any other format.

      • Blueberry IS selling the items AFTER the the event and NOT in gacha form. They ARE actually breaking the rules. It has nothing do with during the event fatpacks etc at all.

      • No, she is not breaking the rules, not for this round. This round, they are allowed to sell fatpacks, which she is, as well as a few others. The rules do not cover anything about those fatpacks. Since they are in fatpacks and not in gachas, or not just in gachas form, then that gacha rule cannot apply to those. It’s a special round where they are allowing this. The others who are selling fatpacks will probably do the exact same thing as Blueberry is, after the event, selling them in the store in fatpack form.
        If you are going to make a secret regarding this, then you need to include everyone in that secret, not just one person/store that you are feeling salty about.

      • She is selling the FATPACK. At the event itself there is a Gacha and fatpack. The gacha has to stay in gacha form. The fatpack is not covered in that notecard, but it’s a fatpack form after the event. Not sure if you understand any of this. But creators were able to sell their items as Gacha and Fatpack so she’s not breaking the rules.

    • No, the poster for #33 against the Loft&Aria was an idiot for not seeing all the differences. “Oh it looks similar, must be a rip-off!” Both models from the Loft&Aria and 3DSky are based off a real bed but each have small differences. 3DSky’s version is more alike to the real thing while the Loft’s not as real, meaning there’s barely any flaws or feeling of weight in the construction.

      • Says the owner of the Loft&Aria. Anon hey. All these objects from these websites are so high in poly count that they need to be modified to even import to SL. So small differences are expected, to be able to bring the poly count down enough for SL’s limits.

        At the very least, shop at some stores that actually have imagination and don’t just copy shit identical to RL. Even if you take inspiration from RL objects, put your own spin on it for goodness sake. Otherwise, how much better are you as a creator as a template mesh designer.

      • Not the owner but I do have a good eye and actually take the time to look at a product than a simple glance over. The models are different even though they are both based on the same real product.
        And a vast majority of SL is based on the real world, from fashion to buildings and nature to fantasy. Take a good look at your own avatar’s closet and see how much of it is “shit” copied from the real world.

        Every body out there has its advantages and disadvantages. None of them, not even Belleza (which only stands out because it’s less used than others), is perfect, I’ve tried them all on release. It all depends on what you do with it.

      • Welcome to sl, where anyone that uses a mesh body of any sort has the potential to look cookie cutter, or at least quite similar to another. All of the bodies, however, have the capability to alter their looks so as to remain as least cookie cutter as possible. That doesn’t make them “better bodies”, it just reflects personal preferences. Maitreya is still, and has always been, the most popular choice. It may not be YOUR choice, but it still remains the most popular one. For creators to cater to primarily that audience, is a smart move in sl. Business 101 dictates that you cater to your largest audience and only cater to niche audiences when it’s fiscally sound. Being salty and throwing pot shots at people that use, or create for, a body you dislike, just makes you sound like an idiot. If you don’t think there is enough for your chosen mesh body, get to work on creating things. I take a to each their own approach, and I use multiple different bodies as the mood strikes. Using a non-Maitreya body doesn’t mean you have “more discerning taste”, it means you have different preferences, and good on ya for it!

        There is no “best body”, every last one has good points and bad points. I have no idea why Maitreya is so popular but it’s the one I chose for my adult avatar AFTER demoing several different mesh bodies for months. Mesh bodies made me pretty angry at the start because it was quite hard to get rid of the bubble butts, unrealisticly perky boobs, and corset waists to make an average woman shape. That’s improved slightly now but there are some bodies that won’t allow you to be anything but a super model. I had the best luck with Maitreya and the worst luck with Hourglass, Isis, and Freya (no Venus demo was available when I was ready to buy). Why would I buy a body I couldn’t get to look the way I wanted just to be on “hipster” level and “high rez”? I also don’t care about hyper-realistic muscle tone but I mean, if you do.. props?

And btw Modpeas were always compensated solely by free products and an occasional one time linden bonus when they had to put in extra above and beyond type work. Kiana, you suck.     • It’s not only the staff side that is rotten to the core, it’s also how they treat their customers. The condescending and greedy attitude that is always present.

      Whether it’s someone asking about one of their products or a conversation on a non-Madpea related topic in their group, someone on staff always gives a response that is injected with a pitch towards one of their PRICED products. An attempt in every instance to try and dig money out of a customer. If the customer wavers, they’ll throw 101 reasons at them why they should spend on Madpea and even give you a complimentary teleport to the vendor. But if the customer says no, they no longer respond and have time to help and the customer gets ignored. If anyone needs to be further convinced, try it you’ll see.

      On her ideas and products, she has yet to show proof to her customers that they are original. There has been NO TRANSPARENCY, yet in Secrets #43 & #44 she feels she’s entitled to be privy to proof on other creators.

And on top of that if they now plan to collect L$8000-L$12000 PER PERSON every year through these paid membership groups and use dishonest methods covered up with a fake friendly facade, then Madpea will be as big of a scam as those fake fundraising events.

You touch on a great deal of things here, I’ll start with Jocelyn. Jocelyn as everyone now knows had severe mental issues. Everyone does know June was close to her, but yes a decent person would still show love and concern for someone like that. A person who truly cares for another human being doesn’t just say “fuck it” and want to quit because they were manipulated and hurt especially if they understood the situation. This is something I don’t understand about a lot of people in SL. They scream I love you I love you I’d do anything for you, but when shit hits the fan regardless of the situation it’s like high school, those people really don’t care about that person, as seen in this situation with Jocelyn.       As people have pointed out over and over whenever someone tries to drag stores for not being original from concept to completion, there is a bit of a difference to keep in mind. Like a post further up states there are knock offs, just like in RL.

      “But Pocket, that means they’re shitty and can’t say their creation is original like they do on their vendors!” You’re probably ready to reply, except there’s one more thing to consider. Back when mesh first happened in SL and prefabs started to explode, a group started offering endorsements for creators who had made their own mesh and textures vs using prefabs. It was called SLOCCA and if they found your store to only use mesh and textures you made, you got to put their seal of approval on your vendors.

      Fast forward to the last year or two and I’m not sure if they’re still keeping up with stores or whatever; but creators know because of SLOCCA that a customer is more comfortable paying a set price if they think the mesh they’re getting is 100% not a prefab. So they make that a feature to advertise on their vendors ads…thus we get the “Original Mesh!” on everything now.

      Just something to keep in mind when throwing a fit over stores not “being original” happens. It’s likely in many cases not what they were trying to claim anyway (though I’m sure there’s exceptions because people are trash).

      • This is amusing. You’re implying I’m the owner, which I’m not. Replying to you again since you did in another post above, and that the majority of SL is based off the real world.
        For one, they did make a few things different. The mattress portion is more uniform without the lifelike ripples. The curls between the supporting “beams” aren’t interwoven into the beams themselves. The shape itself is slightly off in varying degrees which shows that this was made by a different individual than the one who made the model in 3DSky.

But it’s not fair to extract meshing techniques that took weeks and months to learn from your friends; building tetechniques developed over years and expect to be handed a silver platter. Do the hard work yourself. Either be prepared to pay a tutor or rely on free tutorials. Other wise, respect the boundary of friendship and artistry.

    Example: Your friend has a successful restaurant. You ask them all about their cooking recipes and business information until they have nothing left to share. Then open your own restaurant with the SAME cuisine and business practices. Then delete your friend/boyfriend who taught you.

        Friends help each other, yes. I knew she was planning on opening her own store, yes. I encouraged her and helped her. But there came a point where it doesn’t feel right.       • It is beyond ‘friends helping friends” to expect that someone will give hours of their time for free. If someone is paying for the lessons or using the plethora of resources already available, such as online tutorials or workshops, to teach themselves, and asking the occasional question of a friend, that might be different. It is messed up that people in SL expect others to give away their time and knowledge. If someone asked me to teach them something IRL so they could use it to run a business, you bet I would charge them for lessons if I were teaching them everything.

What I learn in the working industry is that when I teach others, I am teaching myself to understand it even better (and I got even better and confident in it). When you teach June, it was a win-win for the both of you. Not only she had a good friend who is willing to teach her but you are also improving on your work by looking into what you’re doing and explaining it to others.

      “Do the hard work yourself. ” she does. She does not buy mesh or contents. Her creativity and content never cease to amaze me. Sure she asks for ideas at times, who doesn’t need suggestions and ideas to spark and make a new product?

    • This thread is interesting. I do not know June personally but, what is being described here is rampant in SL, People who ride others coat tails then discard them after getting what they want. I also find those who are turning June into the victim here amusing, well I think it’s just one person but, that’s neither here nor there.

      In my humble opinion, true friendship is more than “what your friend can do for you”. Even with the free tutorials available on youtube some creators dont give every detail away, for the more advanced techniques, they create classes where you would have to pay, there are even some SL creators who do the same.

      No one owes you anything, you are not entitled to someone else’s knowledge base. What I love about karma and the way the universe works, is that these things always have a way of catching up to the culprit in the long run. It may be lonely at the top but, be good to the people you meet along the way up there because, when you fall, it will still be among friends. Good luck June.

      • The rules just state the gacha items must remain in gacha form, not that you must sell the gacha in your store. This round there was also the option to sell a fatpack, this also can be sold in store after the event. Which is precicely what she is doing. No rules broken here.

The irony here is that many of these events reject designs created from full perm mesh meanwhile, at least half of their participants are just stealing things off world and retexuring it for secondlife.     • Exactly. If all they are doing is copying RL shit, there is nothing special or ‘original’ about these stores. They could change up stuff to make it unique, but instead they copy it exactly. May as well just use full perm mesh if that’s what kind of store you want to run.

      • I am okay with creators who find inspiration from RL products and bring them to life in secondlife. You want extremely unique ideas? Then maybe you should be playing a fantasy game with an alien invasion plot or pac man because, those are games where you’ll find truly unique pieces that you probably won’t see anywhere in real life. For years creators and in world artists have brought venues from RL and items people own in real life to life in secondlife and no one has had an issue with that, even LL encourages it.

        Heck there are sims called Africa, even the Titanic is in secondlife. What most people are complaining about here is the blatant thievery where, some “designers” have chosen to skip the creating process all together and went straight to grabbing items from 3d websites, retexturing it and then uploading it to secondlife and selling it for crazy prices AND violating the tos of the original creator.

        Full perm templates in secondlife are an entirely different story and would have been far more accepted in if some “exclusive” event organizers weren’t so uppity about seeing templates in their events, of course it’s not their fault that some designers chose to steal, greed plays a huge role in that. Long rant short; Don’t be stupid, even LL advocates bringing RL items to life in SL, where have you been? Get a life.

    • All those stores aren’t as big a deal as they used to be either. Other stores are much higher quality than them, they all got untouchable and thought they could lower quality. If you look at the foxes flickr feed, they have gone back to their original creative style products now, because clearly their shit basic style stuff wasn’t selling anymore. Great job on going back to your roots btw with Alchemy making a comeback! Your cool original stuff was always better!

    • Add Wicca’s Wardrobe to the list, they also buy mesh templates from mesh sites and then pass it off as original mesh. They were called out for this last year but claimed it was ok as they had paid for the mesh.

      • 99% of items in SL are based off RL inspiration. Like that dress you wear, or that hair you love so much. It is one thing to look at a photo for a RL item and create the mesh for it in SL. It is a entirely other ballgame to see a mesh creation on a 3d website, buy it, claim it as your own then sell it to your customers as a product you created. “ORIGINAL MESH” implies that the mesh was 100% created by that designer rather than another designer and resold. It does not mean “ORIGINAL DESIGN IDEA in BOTH WORLDS”… Sit downPumpkin.

      • The angle on that picture makes it hard to judge the age but it’s a bit difficult for people who wish their avatars to be a realistic height and don’t want the massive, out of proportion biceps that come with Gianni/Jake when you set your avatar to 5’10.

        Many twinks are using bodies originally ment for kids, but scaled up. By height and by the 8:1 head/body ratio they really do conform to an adult shape.

        But anyone who is trapped in 9 foot land would look at them and say “zomg a kid”. And they would say it incorrectly in many cases.

        You have to ignore the use of those thinner mesh bodies, and you mostly need to ignore how the profile looks. It *is* valid in my eyes to say your avatar is adult if you are not 4 feet tall, if you are conforming to the 8:1 ratio, and you don’t list any kid groups, nor use ‘kid talk’

      • Something the 9 foot glamazons might not understand, so I’ll repeat it.

        Don’t judge an avatar’s age by a photo, it can’t be done. By all means judge it in world, judge it from groups, judge it from the way they talk, judge it from the gestures they play.

        But photos can sometimes lie. Lighting, angle, composition, makeup can drastically alter one’s perception. And often the person taking the photo is NOT aware that their avatar looks younger then it should be.

        In this case, he’s clearly a kid as he has kid groups. In fact, the Golden Sun group not only puts him as a kid, but an active ageplayer.

      • If the person taking the photo doesn’t look at it afterwards and think “boy I sure look a lot younger than I wanted to”, that person is a shit photographer, lol. Photos don’t “alter one’s perspective” that damn much, be realistic here.
        I’ve taken photos of my av that I later look at, especially next to other people and think, damn, I look small(my rl height is my sl height and it’s rather short next to a lot of people). I’m not even that good at taking pics at all, but I can see it, lol.

      • It is a kid, she is a well known Kid avatar that’s been seen and active in the running of kid ageplay pick-up sites like Golden Sun and open nudity places like Edge of Time. That’s not a petite adult and checking in that profile is listed a few kid related stores. I don’t know where you come from Lord, but that is a kid and most people know she is. And AVIL is the only child body store that sells its female private parts as part of the body. Now you saying those two don’t mix to make a series of judgements?
