I agree with the content being really weird, fetishy and offensive when applied to a transgender woman – but the title is far from it. it says femboys AND transgirls, not femboys/transgirls. No one thinks they’re interchangeable, and I doubt the owners are implying that trans women are the same as femboys or even remotely the same category, not to mention every trans person is different. If you did your research you’d know there are transgender people within the staff of the event, as well as creators in the event itself.
Also its SL, everything becomes fetishized – its outright sexualization of everything is very separate and different from the real world. If something similar was happening IRL, then you’d have cause to “boycott” and smear organizers.

#21 – Knowing the organiser of this event, I can assuredly say that they do indeed know the difference and are in fact attempting to cater for a minority of people in SL, both trans women and femboys, which as you pointed out, are not the same. Thing is, no one was ever claiming they are the same, so that invalidates your point.
As for the use of fetishised, derogatory terminology, sadly that is something that I don’t think we as trans people will ever stamp out and you will always have those people banking on certain terms to show up highly in searches. I too wish that these terms weren’t used, especially at this event, but the usage is so rife to describe trans people in any platform or media that it’s probably easier to ignore it at this point in time, although I have drawn attention to this with the organiser.
Personally, I for one am glad of this event as it means that I get representation just like all the others do. There are fairs for those who enjoy trademarked anime, those who are grown adults representing children in SL, so why not trans women and femboys too? If the way this event is organised outrages you so much, get off your arse and organise your own!

I don’t know anyone involved in this situation, firstly. Secondly – why do you feel entitled to know everyone’s RL gender? This is a Secondlife and people can be whatever they want to be, so for somebody who supposedly doesn’t care what a person identifies as, you’re awfully triggered. This has been a big theme in SLS lately and I’m not sure why. It’s a second life – you aren’t taking these people out to a fancy restaurant in RL with the intent of taking them home afterwards. Don’t take your pixels so seriously.

Men’s events are without exception tattoos, static poses and a few tracksuit pants. Maybe something with a poorly done (and mostly circumsized) boner outline made for the Gianni only.
These events are so sparse of male suitable mesh they have started taking furniture and women’s clothing to fill out the spots.
How’s #22 a lie? It looks like an opinion that seems pretty valid and factual if you wanna get technical. There’s not a lot of different men’s clothing, and at the few men’s events that there are, there have been stalls for women which kinda sucks, because it could have gone to another creator / more menswear. The clothing for men is pretty sparse compared to women’s clothing. In fact, on my male avatar (that’s about 6 years old) a large proportion of my clothing, my other male friends have too. We could all wear the same outfit (sometimes in different textures, sure.) without even trying to.
You must have hit your head a little too hard. Men dont make mens clothing because they dont sell. Event organizers can’t force men to make mens clothing. They invite men brands into events and then the men events make womens clothing because it sells more lol If your mad about that, talk to mens brands, not event orgs

23 & 24-Merchants complain events won’t take new stores, there’s lots of empty spots but unless an event is run by one of the “big names” they won’t bother joining it. Smaller events that don’t care if you are just starting or established for years get ignored. Stores are far too good to join them and shoppers won’t shop there because it’s small stores, not one of the big ones that everyone already shops at. When you would rather spend hours trying to get into an event that has dozens of empty spots instead of going to a small event with no wait time, only makes those elite events keep doing what they are doing and it makes the small ones that accept all stores go out of business. Just because it isn’t on Seraphim doesn’t mean it’s a bad event.
If it’s *not* on Seraphim, they’re going to have to work a lot harder on promotion- especially if they don’t have any big name creators. This is just logic, that people have to actually hear about the event before they can go.
i’m agreeing with BeLess here..promoting it is everything..and seraphim is a lot of peoples go to.. to check for new events…. I will say this just from my shopping point of view do the gallery thing.. i know some adult events cant but have a link to a gallery website.. but if ur not an adult only event make sure you go with that option.. i can only speak for myself but even if the ad catches my eye if theres no gallerygallery link i prob wouldnt bother
I’m not sure where you got the idea I’m a blogger. I own a store and organized events. Did them for three years. Each one had a new theme, no prefab. We kept it to 5 bloggers and only they got packs, IF the merchant wanted to send them. We did not require that and it was less than 400L to join, which helped pay for the land the event was on.
I think one of the issues with small events, is that there’s not enough traffic sometimes. You said it yourself – shoppers won’t come. There are designers that would join events to give them a try, but if you spend hours of work and only cover fees in the end, it’s just not worth it sadly.
it is not a difference of big or small or elite. it is people want to push the camera icon and take a picture in sl and suddenly its “i is blogger”. it does not stop there, then they go to mp and get prefabs and its “i makes event pay me” . then it is is a case of oh its small no one comes and why is that? because its work. people don’t do work you can see it like #23 and #24. we can see who did the work there. Let’s get the facts straight. Secrets aren’t related. The owner of Ghoul is mad because her stuff got returned for having copyrighted art on them, thus Skye secret. Skye quit Blush two months ago and let the creators know she would no longer be managing it. Octagons Yazmioto/Pizza owns it and hired Jenkel Corksoaker to manage it and this is the outcome.

I pay 20 bucks a month for photoshop and couple other programs through Adobe, it’s cheap by the month. Can even get fully supported photoshop with free updates and support for as little as 10 per month.
I use maya, but its licensed to my roomate who uses it for his own company. He’s got 3 licenses, I use one, he uses one for work, uses one for home.

The only one I would think was mostly pirated, was Marvelous Designer. It’s what’s used major often for clothing creation. It’s not exactly cheap to even get by the month… like 50 bucks or something? Per month.

I laugh when someone wants to call out one creator for copyrighted stuff but you have creators like Fapple stealing artwork from RL artists and putting it into a mesh frame and calling it “original.” Fact is, I constantly see stuff in SL that is a direct copy of RL fashion, furniture, art, etc. There’s very little truly original and unique work in SL these days. Either everyone gets hit for copyrighting RL things or no one does. Let’s stop this picking and choosing.

Documents have been seen about her release from the hospital. The fact that Roman went through so much stalking to get that information is kind of scary in itself. People can sit back and point fingers saying she did this or that but I don’t know ONE person on SL who hasn’t lied about SOMETHING. She stole photos not an identity, two different things. The only thing I see identity wise is she stole the first name of this girl and photos. Which btw happens often all over the place. This isn’t the first time we have seen in here and it won’t be the last.
She made up her identity, which isn’t cool but it means she’s sick. Sick with some sort of mental illness, which in part means she can’t help it. I feel bad for everyone who got hurt in this situation. I knew Jocelyn well. There is a level of sadness I feel because she isn’t a bad person. Anyone who knew her knows that. She was very generous, kind, to many of her designers (me included) this personal situation got meshed into her business. She hurt people close to her (me included) but I honestly do not think that was her intention. She has an illness. SHE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL. And yes that was her brother online because he cammed with anyone who asked at the time of the incident. People will speculate, for awhile. Sure, that’s normal. But let it be for fucksake. People need to heal and I have no doubt she has paid for what she has done by almost losing her life. We can’t sit here and judge people if we have not walked a day in their shoes, even Roman, who seems to be a sociopathic crazy person. It wasn’t just pictures though. She used the girl’s name with small adjustments and copied aspects of her life like the sister’s name and having her pet. This is a step beyond googling someone’s picture and using it. That’s what makes it worse.

I totally agree and I doubt she is reading any of this. She is working very hard to get better. It’s a struggle for her daily. There is much she has gone through to get to the point to where she is now. That lead her to do these things. And do trust, SL is in her rear view mirror. She has said she has no plans on returning which is a relief. I just hope people can let it go and let everyone heal. She knows what she has done was terrible and trust she suffers from it daily.

So picture it SECOND LIFE FASHION COMMUNITY 2010-2011 or so. (Kess can correct me on the year this went down) Someone in the fashion community was outed for doing a huge huge con artist and catfish. The first thing people ask for when you make accusations like this, is proof. WE WANT PROOF!! Proof always, ALWAYS, in these cases, involve RL information. That is what gets these people caught up. So anyway when this person in the fashion community was outed their RL info was revealed. Way more than this. There were names of the entire family, addresses, court payers, tax forms, RL business papers, all kinds of shit that was involved with the proof. All this information was posted on a webpage for all to see, with the sensitive information barely blurred out. So after it was found how many people this woman took advantage of, there were still some in the community who didn’t believe. But many had the nerve to be appalled by the amount of RL information that was exposed to prove that this woman was a con artist. In the end its a no win situation. If you make the accusation without proof, proof will be demanded. If you try to say well I can’t provide proof without revealing RL information, people will think you are a liar. If you provide the proof and by default reveal RL information, you are a monster for posting RL info.
