  3. I see there is some debate about the so called “kids Community”.

    The true is there have never being, and there will never be any kid community…Every time I see someone talking about it, is because there is some bad drama going around…

    All there is to it, is people wanting to be leaders of all the kids… So they sell the kool aid about the “community” and they name themselves leaders of said community. It is just BS politics.

    The first time i ever hear about the so called “kid community” was for SL 5 Birthday celebration, when Skippy was going around calling himself the “ambassador of the kids community”, latter on it turns out he was asking Linden Labs for money, or else he will make all the kids create them a big drama…

    The closest to any “community” there is, is some groups and sims that are marketed to kids, like kid stores, kid clubs, kid sims, goonies, scouts, and so on and go on… some groups and sims that should not be mention… but by not means all this groups are put together into a big community.

    All of this to conclude that there have never being and there will never be any “kids community” it is always political manipulation BS and/or some form of money grab.

    My advice to anyone wanting to play a kid AV in SL:

    Stay away from anywhere and anyone that is promoting the so called “kids community”… There is a lot of people and groups and sims out there that, if true are not marketed to or targeting kid AV, they are still fine groups and place, run by great people that are friendly to kid AVs… and you will never have to deal with any kid drama BS… Find something of your interest…

    You like Star Wars? there is a community about it, you can play a Padawan…

    You interested in certain culture or certain country? most likely you will find a group of people with that interest that probably will not mind you have a kid AV.

    Just try not to expend more than 1/3 your time inside the “kids community” bubble, that will mess up the fun for you… step out of it as much as you can.

    • These people usually include themselves in this “community” because they use it interchangeably with words like group or society. other groups do this, too (i.e. furries, BDSM, fantasy role play) because they aren’t part of the MAJORITY of Secondlife players. You seem to have the misunderstanding that all these child avatars plot together to ruin the adult side of Secondlife, which isn’t the case and then call themselves a community cult.

      What you say might be true, but it is incredibly hard to find sims that are open to child avatars. Harder still to stumble into them without people crying wolf.

  12. I wanted to say something regarding the whole swastika thing and “taking it back”.

    There are somethings that happen that are so horrible they are/should be unforgettable. There will be things associated with them that should never be disassociated, EVER. The Holocaust, Nazi’s and all the atrocities in WW2 should never ever be forgotten. The symbol that the Nazi’s adopted is forever tainted, there is no way to take it back. The murder of ~10 million people is associated with that symbol and it can never ever be washed away so that you can “take it back”. It doesn’t matter how its drawn, it if looks like a swastika its going to be associated with the murder of 10 million people.

    Reading these comments I wonder how much of you all know your history. This is not American History or European History its World History there is no reason you all shouldn’t know any of this. Those that do know, its scary that many of you want to just push it aside. “Yeah yeah we know 10 million people were murdered BUT…” There is no but, its dead the symbol is forever tarnished. Its disgusting to me that there is even an effort to push that aside to forget it.

    Also those that say because the guy is Japanese there is no way it could be a symbol of racism, again read your history. Japan did some pretty nasty things on par with the Nazi’s but because most white folks don’t care what happens with the Asians its not as widely known. Of course the Japanese are not as zealous as they were back then about cultural purity and what not, but its still there.

    TL;DR: This whole taking back the swastika symbol, is a bunch of bullshit. Its just white washing history and an injustice to the the 10 million people who were murdered.

      To put Lourdes thoughts in day to day. I watch a lot of anime (shut up, before you judge) and sometimes I do see that swastika drawn in the background and it doesn’t matter… I know intellectually why it’s there, but my brain immediately thinks Nazi. That’s probably for the best. I know it seems like it was far off history but it wasn’t. Some of my parent’s friends were in the camps as children and almost died.

      • Yes, Lourdes spelled it out perfectly. I have known people who were children in those camps and I have met soldiers who were teenagers forced to pick up a gun. It didn’t matter what side of the fence they were on….the horror and misery they faced scarred them forever. Wanting to just wash that away is pretty much asking me to wash away part of my family. That will never happen. That symbol means only one thing to me and will never mean anything else.

    • @Lourdes I Agree with you on many points most of all that the Holocaust was… words can’t even describe how horrible it was.. and that it should never be forgotten! And, yes that symbol is forever tarnished with the blood and pain of millions. Also, tbh even though I have met many who are not… I have come to believe that the Japanese as a whole are some of the most racist people I have ever met (Before any of you freak out my room mate is of Japanese decent and he agrees with this).

      But, as one of the ones on the “taking it back” stance I’m going to stand firm.. not as to whitewash history but because I’m a Buddhist. It’s not about forgetting the horrors; it’s about understanding that there are several versions of the swastika and only the Nazika has ties with the Nazis while the others are deeply rooted religious symbols.

      (On a side note) As far as the actual tattoo that started this whole debate. Even though I’m pretty sure the intentions of the creator were not to be racist they should of had a little more common sense and maybe not have it in the tattoo at all or to at least making sure that the swastika wasn’t tilted or better yet should have used one of the other versions out there that are far more pleasing to the eye. I remember when that tattoo was released months ago and thinking “Wow what a nice tattoo except for that damn swastika; ruins the whole thing and makes it unwearable”.
      As far as GB… out of all the tattoos he probably has in his inventory he decided to use that one?!… once again common sense should have been used here.
      Sadly, neither of these creators used common sense but I am not going to “crucify” them over it (pun slightly intended since we are discussing religious symbols with ties to the murdering millions).

      You of course don’t have to agree with my stance here but saying that my side of this debate is an attempt to whitewash history; a “bunch of bullshit”; and an injustice to those murdered is kind of… well a slap to the face (which was probably intentional but I still adore your face even though we disagree).

      My hope here is that this comment maybe clears up why I’m taking the stance that I am… And let us hope next week there is no “secrets” that discuss religion or politics. 😀

      • I was nicely tap dancing around how racist Japanese culture can be. I haven’t experienced it first hand but I have been told by a few Japanese I have befriended over the years.

        I totally get the idea of wanting the symbol back. I totally get who you don’t want the religious variations on the symbol to be associated with Nazi. Unfortunately it is associated with something bad. It would take something monumentally good to happen in association with the religious variations of the symbol before it can be “taken back”.

        But yeah… I totally agree with you there! the Nazis totally ruined the symbol beyond repair. I'd just like to get it to the point where I can get Buddhist things with the other versions of the symbol and not get the evil eye of "what are you a Nazi?".. till then I tread carefully when buying such products just to be safe.

    • Thanks Lourdes, I have been reading the comments, shaking my head. I am aware of the original meaning of the swastika, before it became a Nazi symbol. Overhere, in TheNetherlands, it is forbidden by law to show/wear/use a Swastika in public, simply because the association with hate and nazism. It is only allowed to be used in exhibitions, museums or for educational purposes. Personally it makes me sick to see it being used so casually in SL, as a cool fashion statement, and the white washing. Even though I try to keep in mind it may mean something else to some people, for me it will never be normal. I only have to think back of the stories my own grandparents told me about their life and ordeals during WW2.

    • Lourdes, you said it right there are no take backs when it comes to the Nazi’s especially growing up in a neighborhood made up of 90% Jewish and sitting with them hearing the horror stories, seeing the numbers tattooed on their arms. ever get a chance to see exactly what was done go to the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC its sobering and will rip your heart out. Each time I see that symbol all my mind can think of is Nazi’s and the horrible things that were done to human beings.

I was actually shocked at how many I got… but continue to complain about how you’re being scammed and how your ‘safe intern’ told you that. The scripts automatically tell designers the rare % and it’s always been calculated based on how many items you have in the machine. I’ve had machines have 8% and I’ve had machines have 3%. Right beneath it is the ohm symbol and the lotus, so it’s clear it’s not a Nazi swastika, but the original religious swastika. I would hesitate to make any assumptions about the creator for using a swastika in this context, other than I think using religious iconography is offensive if that is not your religion, but if his is Hindu, then it’s just part of his culture.

      • Thats why she is out here to bully a name and create problems. Bi-polar is nasty ass shit when not controlled. Not as if these people should be pissed off at anyone here. If they want to accuse one may accuse everyone. We all say the same shit . But highlight one out that she has a clear issue over and a false accusation, yeah bullying. Its well known she has it, so why don’t people stop her.
        I feel sorry for her, because most people call her that behind her back. Even people who are close related to her friends say she is an asshole.

      • I know a few kids in SL, some are pretty much as you find them. Nice enough people but they have a fixed personality. Alexx is perhaps the only person I know that is like a mix of candy at the cinema. Sometimes you get a jelly baby, a sour sugar string and sometimes a bit of stray popcorn . Its an unusual mix but a mix that’s very different but in a nice way. I read the comments here and I don’t think Alexx is fair represented here, he has a lot of awesome qualities that are not highlighted here.

        I won’t say Alexx is perfect, nobody is perfect but he is one of the kid communities biggest assets and frankly irreplaceable. He tries hard and committed to developing a kids brand as well as a personality for many kids in Second Life. He has his own unique charm. He has identity, scope and has a way of life in SL that is unique among kids and when you are unique, you either get fans or enemies. You can never win . Alexx is a person who needs to find the place he is comfortable most and where he settles, will be in a place that’s stable and if you are stable and happy, you come out balanced.
        The kid world can often be a very socially demanding place, with so many comings and goings. Sometimes with changes we cannot control or hurt us deeply. We are no different from other people, sometimes we look for stability and validity in a place where its in short supply. It is also a minefield where finding your place and feeling secure with genuine,stable and trustworthy people can be very challenging .

        We all have issues to overcome, sometimes very personal ones. My own is my Aspergers, which often wants to strive for fairness in a place where fairness is not easy to find. I am also bad at social time both inworld and RL.
        That does not stop me trying and challenges are always there most days. I often have a very short temperament for empathy, I can’t hack crybabies and people who cannot overcome struggles without some amount of motivation. I can be a cranky old fart too, that’s another story though 😛 On the other side, I can be supportive, a listener, a helper/motivator and sometimes lots of roles. Alexx is the same just I guess people get lost in the mix when they are so busy trying to understand others, that they cease to be understood themselves. And most often the people who are the most enthusiastic about their community and life here are the ones that are misunderstood.

        Someone said here there is are different choices of vile in the community. That is true because of that make the community a very hard place to survive. There are places and groups that expect too much of you or too little, its never a happy balance. The kid community is unique it has people who are very helpful, inventive and dedicated folks like that in a small pond. We are lucky we don’t have as many scammers etc like the mainstream community have in SL.
        The problem we do have is so much divide and agendas, that many people never get a chance to shine to full potential. That or a chance to share resources or be representative of the community they are part of. This is why we have toxicity and when these communication strands are broken, we have fights and a lot of misunderstanding. Most of the fights are people struggling to make themselves valid where they think they don’t have an identity. Identity means belonging and as we see over the weeks, people calling out others because there is little of that going around or some have too much inclusion or too little. No Balance!

        I’m not going to say people have a right and wrong opinion here cause that’s not my place to judge, but I will say people could open themselves a little more to understand people a bit more. Maybe be less elusive or more open to socialize and make friendly contact to bridge gaps.
        After seeing how far this went really got to me . Nobody should be torn out to be singled out as anything. All it takes is communication and understanding of people and a willingness to try be better people. Easy enough if you give it your best shot and honest when you try.

        A valuable lesson I had as a kid as an Asian mix in a sea of white faces at school, was I was often called called Ching Chong or Noodle Eye. Coming home crying from school, I used to wail about the abuse to which my grandmother would say “If that’s what you are, keep crying” My grandmother had rapier wit and was not one for tact but she was right. Name-calling is not a reflection on you. Be proud of yourself, what you do and the people who make you feel good. There are many who do and those who don’t we can work to adapt. Who said being a kid avatar was easy 🙂 As they say in Bill and Ted, ” Be Excellent to each other!”

      • @Zippy There is a difference between imperfect and being an unapologetic bully. I don’t know who Jordy is, but I have personally been in circles with Alexx and the reason nobody speaks to his ‘good’ qualities is because the bad ones far outnumber them and are so intensely awful that nobody sticks around him for too long. There’s a reason why nearly every kid on the block has a horror story involving him, why he moves from family to family and friend group to friend group and frequents secrets often.

        I heard these allegations long before I talked with him and ignored them to find out for myself, and I learned the hard way that there’s truth to every rumor. Ageplaying aside, the guy has extreme jealousy issues and is possessive over people.

        I didn’t think I would bother replying to any of these secrets, but your advice of him needing to find a place of balance and peace is just deluded because he himself is not peaceful or balanced. Until he works on himself, he’ll never keep anyone around.

      • @ Babylon. Alexx always has been, he is a bully. I don’t think SL is the best place for him as my bro had trouble with him too at one point. Not sure all the details but I knew there was drama. If you look at Alexx and his life, it is unbalanced like him. That is what Zippy was trying to say I think. If he settled into somewhere that was him and he actually found no issues. But like you I know how Alexx is and he would find something to spark him up and fly at them, going back to the same old tired shit again.
        Possessive, angry and jealous over people is exactly what Alexx is. That aside, he does a lot of good things for kids, can’t say he does not. Yes the damage to people he creates outweighs the good but to say deluded I don’t think is right .

        The ageplaying part I know nothing about, can’t comment about it either way. But just like that 2 cents twat had his comment, people talk among others which they do themselves. Not one of them is any better than the other, most are toxic bastards not one better than the other . Zippy was right though, so much toxicity comes from people who are unhappy with their lot . If you role-play a boy like I am, you know if its not bitter old people play boys and some are creepy AF , its teenagers or young adults in there that are unhinged as they are in real life . Some nice people but most are twats.
