Before we delve into secrets…
• If you hook up with a crazy in SL, it is not our responsibility to help you deal with that. If it becomes a RL issue contact law enforcement.
• Trust no one. If you tell people your laundry they will air it for you.
• Secret submissions are anonymous. We don’t know if your crazy ex or your abuela submitted them.
• Make your secrets legible.
• Do not contact us just to threaten us, especially with e-lawyers. We’ve been doing this for 12+ years. You are not the first nor will you be the last.
• Lastly, if the material submitted here triggers you, please get help. If the materials submitted here make you suicidal please see the suicide hotline numbers posted. They are there to help.

For a start, half the population of SL is suffering delusions of grandeur and half the residents will claim to be bloggers, what else is new?
Unimaginative set ups and strangely stretched photos, true…but he/she does seem to get hundreds of views, although not many faves, on Flickr at least.
As for getting the details wrong on a post… not exactly a hanging offense, but a bit slack I guess. Clearly English is not his/her first language…again, no big deal, we all get the idea.
Not sure about a blogger slapping “copyright” on every single post though; a bit try-hard and quite unnecessary.
My question, in light of the above, is this: Does this blogger really get free stuff from every single one of the stores/events listed on his site as “sponsors”??? If yes, blogging standards have dropped.
It is in my own humble observation that the bloggers who have to say they are famous… or slap some huge ass logo on every one of their photos are some of the lesser talented ones. Talented bloggers do not need to say they are as their work speaks for themselves.
Tadeu Gartner is the perfect example for how to sell shit wrapped in golden foil. Not just sell it to them but make them eat it and enjoy it. Here is the recipe for a cheap but successful personal branding: 1, Graduate at all the no name model schools known in sl and while you at it make a lot of “friendships” with people who you can benefit from or people who knows those people. 2, Be always everywhere where these people are, be very kind with them, be keen to do a lot for them (fashion runway, magazines etc) for some clothes in return. They will love you for your kindness and will mention you to their friends if they will need you. They will, it’s cheap! 3, Now that you built up this career based on relationships its time to reach to a bigger crowd! Make a shitty blog and a flickr account and to be known by more people add everyone on flickr. From the 10k people you added 2k will add you back and you are instantly well-known! (hint: when you think no more people will add you any more it’s time to delete the rest of them, if you follow 5 times more people than who follows back you are not authentic!!!) 4, Make blogposts several times a day always with the same standing, the same distorted proportions. Just put on every random stuff you got from your sponsors, doesn’t matter if it makes no sense and looks shit! Very important: name all your posts Look of the month, this way other people will really see that you are doing it well! 5, If people somehow don’t beleive you’re good at what you’re doing and have a good fashion sense always remind them! Be sure… Read more »

Welcome to roleplaying, you must be new! All roleplaying communities are like this and have been since livejournal and dreamwidth. It’s common to be pleasant to everyone’s face then go on anon communities and completely destroy someone. Even down to posting their real life info and encouraging harassment because of “free speech”. Then, when it gets called out, the mods instantly show up to defend their communities. Maybe they aren’t in on the anon stuff or the backstabbing but most of the time, they sure are. Don’t believe me? 20 years of rping online and I saw it again and again and again in a never ending circle jerk. Sure is great when your real name and address gets leaked because you won’t rp gay pedophilia with some whiny 20-something fangirls.
My advice is to get out! Roleplay with a small group of your friends instead and use all of SL as your playground. It’s saner, safer, and more fun! Good luck 🙂
Good advice!!
I have found that RPing with good friends and steering clear of the large managed groups to be a better experience.
I tried a few including the one above and found them ok, just not for me.
Where’s that prefab from anyway? i like it 🙂
onsu
I have to admit I keep getting confused as to where I have landed because so many of the stores I go to all have this prefab. I’m bored with it too. It was lovely until so many started using it.
It happens with every good prefab. I think this one is more noticeable to the “secrets” crowd because several big name stores, and stores that participated in events requiring you to go to those stores lately, started using it recently. Also, it’s got enough detailing that retailers aren’t doing much to customize or personalize it like they do with more generic builds. And it’s just lovely and very memorable. There are literally hundreds of stores in SL using the same build though, and I bet 20 builds cover 90% of the stores on the grid.
#3 The thing with large role-play sims is that they occasionally attract people who enjoy causing trouble on a large role-play sim. Then once they do something heinous enough and have gone through the elaborate process of actually managing to get themselves banned, and are tres sad that they lost their troll platform, they move their butt-hurt over to virtual-secrets or Plurk.
Who cares if YOU are bored of anything. I see that prefab around and personally like it but wouldn’t complain if I didn’t like it either. FFS get a life. If that is all you have to complain about you are dull as fuck.
If you spend your time whining in the comments about someone whining about something you personally find boring, you’re still talking about that thing. Ego, you are duller than dull as fuck.
Hello, I am a member of the OOC staff team at Mischief Managed (ALO) As my job, I am to accept new RPers into the sim and I can state that this information is misleading. When I joined MM I had RPed before, however I was not that great, and I was an embarrassment, but MM has helped me explore my RP and character. 1. We do not bully and ‘throw out’ RPers. RPers are dealt with on case to case. Each RPers is different and have their different style; check our OOC rules; http://mischiefmanagedsl.net/rules/ooc-rules/ BE TOLERANT We accept a wide variety of RP style and NONE of them are the “real” or “best” ones. We open our sim to One-liner RP, Semi-Para RP and Para RP, past, present, and future tense. While there are certain times and places for certain types of RP (multi-paragraph is a bit much for the classroom setting, for example), we do not condone any disagreement with a certain roleplayers style and we do not tolerate roleplayers disregarding a person due to how they roleplay. If you think someone needs help with their roleplay or is roleplaying in such a way that you cannot continue with the scene, please try to discuss it with them first to see if you can agree to a solution. If that doesn’t work, notify a member of the RPD or an admin and we will happily step in as a 3rd party and help. 2. Original meaning not relating to the HP canon characters/Copied from another RPer. We work with each applicant closely, and we rarely decline. If you are declined, it is for good reason and the ALOs will have noted this down to you. You are always welcome to reapply and try again or ask the ALO… Read more »
Regarding Number 3 about Mischief Managed: Hi! I’m actually one of the ooc staff members, and an ALO, I’m actually rather confused by a lot of this. 1. What was your definition of a bad roleplayer? We normally work with every new member that joins, help get them set up and I personally try to help make sure they figure out a place to feel welcome in our community. If you mean trolling/god modding/metagaming/ooc issues taken out ic and vice versa, then yes, there will be problems, but our sim is so beyond friendly, and we normally try to work things out before even thinking of banning or ejecting. It takes a lot for that to happen and we give tons of chances 2. Actually, we are extremely happy to work with any backstory. As an ALO if something doesn’t fit the correct Hogwarts Canon, we will write out a very detailed notecard explaining what might need to be fixed, changes that could be had, and talk things over, going step by step with the pending member in hopes to help get them accepted. Sometimes the most ordinary backstories are a breath of fresh air from the more crazy/original ones, but I still love reading each and every single one, and I actually really really enjoy working with the new members. ALO is one of my favorite jobs for this exact reason. 3&4.&5. Again,it really does take a lot to get thrown out. Instead of writing this on an SLSecret, perhaps you can talk with one of us staff members and we can go over things with you. Perhaps there’s a specific person you didn’t get along with and I’m really sorry to hear if you have had that issue, it’s never a fun experience. But I do promise you,… Read more »
