Also, I think you’re mistaken in your assumptions, just because people have other groups in their profiles, does not mean they left from there, they may not have been there for awhile, and just kept the group or the picks. New Haven has the nicest scenery and public spaces that are more than the usual restaurant after restaurant. The Community Center is outstanding. It’s apparent that the owners had resident satisfaction in mind when designing the sims. Not surprised that managers from other sims skulk around New Haven to “borrow” ideas from other people’s hard work.
What’s truly sad is that New Haven thinks self posting about how great it is, here, will ever gain them a strong following of people. Sure, if you want toxic people that will listen to gossip and believe it has fact, I am positive those are the best kinds of people for your sim. Good going.
i think its silly to think New Haven is any different than any other sim before it. I will tell you a story of what will happen before it happens, without ever going there. It will seem okay at first, then there will be drama, and a massive uproar because people only love to hear one side of the story, never seek the truth, always think the sim mods are like our corrupt RL government.. and then the sim will probably not survive. Every place has drama but not every place has MANAGERS (Lucy from CC) who have bullied residents, tried poaching someone from another sim until the person felt harassed and reported it to the owner and not every sim has MANAGERS (Once again- Lucy from CC) that headed an roleplay that involved child torture. There’s a difference between drama and allowing pure stupidity with no consequences.

Not always. I think it depends on who is leaving in masses. People who just want fairness and want out of a place with corrupt and jealous managers do fine in other places. People who had to be banned or made a lot of bad decisions may not do as well but even they might do fine. Most of the people in the newer sims are from the other sims.
I remember once Clifton Forge was doing well, thriving, everyone loved it. “It was so much better than any other sim” they said.. yet, it only lasted two years or so. Where is it now? Gone.
How many “great sims” have closed that you remember? Seems like a lot to me have closed. One would think that if they were so great, then they would have attracted great people.. loyal people.. people that would support them. But yet.. they’re mostly all gone.
So I think it’s more a testament to selfish, fickle people that do not understand what a community is, and think only of themselves, is who leaves sims to move to the next big thing. then something will happen or the next big thing will open.. and they will all go there.
It’s a testament to managers that are allowed to do bad things and get away with it as my above comment says. I think the new sims have potential and if the next big thing allows people to take part in the roleplay they enjoy without unfairness then good for them. Every sim has to start somewhere. You can’t predict the future of these new sims.
I think you’re incorrect in assuming things about other managers. I believe everyone has an opinion and there is no pleasing every single person. One egotistical person who thinks their way is the only way, their thoughts are the only ones that matter, will eventually strike out again the new sims as well. You are correct, all new sims have potential, because no one has complained yet, but once they do, people will blindly believe anything negative as the truth and follow along without hearing both sides fairly. There is a reason why certain people, like you are talking like this. You want people to believe this one is some how different, but it is not. One cannot predict the future, is also True. However, one can see repeating patterns that continue to happen over and over, which is how toxic people behave, and if you think that sim is somehow how magically immune from toxic people infecting it, you are sadly mistaken. Everything will happen like it always has, on every single other sim, ever.

They didn’t get to choose so much as ask which one they wanted to be in. If you look at the post, it says that the majority of people asked to be in the same house (not the one these people happened to get in that are in the same clique/friend circle). Makes you wonder who else asked to be in that house.
Yeah that’s called “choosing.” I don’t know exactly how it works since I’m not in that event, but it sound like the designers were asked to do something like rank which groups they would wanna be in based on the phrase “first choice.” The group you were complaining about is the Light house, which isn’t the one the announcement said was first pick more than half the participants (which was Void house.)
I’m still not seeing the issue here if they’re not getting special treatment to get into the group everyone else wanted. Even if they did, it would make sense because they paid more to be in the event, and sponsors tend to get Some sort of perks to make it worth the extra money. I’d get it more if you were complaining about how the non-sponsor designers were sorted, or who got into the high-demand group, but you’re not. *shrugs*

Imagine getting upset over a HUD game in SL (not you, just adding to your post) that has literally zero effect on anyone who isn’t a participant in that game as well. You say their avatars aren’t affected in any way, yet.. what if they ever decide they want to play one of those vampire games and the game system tells them that they’ve been drained/killed before they even actually start, because someone drained them from a normal sim, so they did not even realize what was happening? Wouldn’t that make them feel weird, or put them at a disadvantage and make them possibly Not play that game after all, thus causing that community to lose potential new players?
In my past experience, no one who joins one of those games after having been “drained” has an issue if it happens prior to them joining. It doesn’t prevent them from starting and it doesn’t cause them to start “dead”. It’s like it never happened.
That is untrue. Most in the vampire systems don’t kill their food because after time you regenerate for us. Yes there are some asshats who find it funny for the younger vampires to make it harder for them to feed.
However if you were killed and wanted to join there are ways to get you in regardless.

#41 Scripts, sometimes texturing methods, etc, are often proprietary. Creators aren’t going to give those up for 250L$ or even 2500L$. Stores who sell no-mod have their valid reasons for doing so and it is not greed.
Expecting customers to pay for additional colors is also not greed.
Asking for what you want is fine. Some stores may be able to give it to you. But demanding that the community boycott stores that cannot give you what you want is being a bully and a Karen.
You can make the scripts no-mod and leave everything else modifiable if you’re scared that someone might find out that when you click button X, it sends a message to a receiver script to tell link Y, face Z to set itself to texture UUID W. Opacity level 1 or 0 if you want to “alpha it out”.

Gosh, you would have such a valid point if texture change scripts and alpha toggling were the only scripted features ever included in anything.
You know damn well nobody here is talking about entire game systems or anything with any real complexity to the script. The only things people script for the sort of stuff fashionistas are interested in are scales, offsets, appliers and AOs. I’ve made more complex push-toys, and that’s not saying much.

Re “all things must be mod”… it doesn’t exactly work that way, even if the creator wanted to. Mesh, from what I have seen, is exceedingly difficult to texture properly and you can’t just slap a random texture on. as mentioned in another comment, tinting makes it looks like shit most of the time, and scripts are huge issue. Not to mention that the average user in SL doesn’t know how to do a single one of these things. Resize is the only thing I would push for, and I’m fairly sure 90% of anything bought nowadays IS resize either with modify or script.
ALL things look like shit if you tint them beyond a certain point. And many things look good with light tinting, mesh included. This isn’t a technical issue.
Which is exactly why it’s stupid when people are like “A mod white item might as well be a fatpack”, like ok tell me you have no standards for how your clothes look without saying that.
Tinting that orange top a tiny bit to match orange skirt from another store won’t make it look like shit.
Mesh hard to texture? Just provide an UV map with your clothes.
Again, not everyone knows how to do these things, nor has the time. If you’re so able to do it, then you can make the orange top that matches the orange skirt yourself, can’t you? I buy the items I want, as they are given by the creator. If you want to put your time and money into creating items and giving them out for a couple bucks per person with free reign to do with them however they see fit, then by all means please go live your dream.
Then only buy full perm products. A creator should not have to go through the modeling, rigging, texturing, importing, scripting, and packaging process just for it to be thrown out the window and devalued because you want to put a stupid texture on a shirt. If you want something, hire a mesher, make it yourself, or cope.
most full perms do provide the uv. if we wanted people redesigning our stuff, we would sell them full perm.

You should really look up what gaslighting is, because that isn’t it. That’s victim blaming, in some situations, but gaslighting is something entirely else. Also, because people in SL can’t reach you in rl, can’t force you to stay around, or anything else without your consent, calling anything in SL “abuse” is a stretch. I remember doux released a bun that was so similar to one released earlier, I paired it with similar bangs and nearly spot on. I get what you mean with textures but the textures were not updated at all.

41 while i agree that clothes would be nice to have mod (if you buy the fatpack). Scripts being mod could cause a ton of security issues and people would be able to just copy paste the code and resell it.
You’d have a point if “scripts” weren’t the first thing torn right out of an outfit once it’s set up, if you’re even halfway interested in not being a 25MB 400-script fatty wobbling around events and wondering why everything pauses when you walk across a region boundary.
You’d also have a point if those scripts were more complex than “set a listener up and have it paste a texture UUID into X or Y link/face number”, which is all appliers are. llSetLinkPrimitiveParamsFast to turn faces to opacity 0 or 1 with a HUD button? Gee that’s some real rocket science there.
You can also set up avatars and clothing to be modifiable mesh and no-mod scripts. That’s a thing. It lets people like me set up outfits that have no redundant applier scripts and my own custom blink/talkjaw/etc for the head, and lets me blaze around regions in an explosion of particles while using only kilobytes.
As for “but if they tint it then it’s not as god intended”, oh get over yourselves. Modders gonna mod, and y’all just modding a virtual world engine to your own benefit. Just some more than others.

But I do sales only once per month, just to boost the store traffic and offer deals to my customers as an appreciation to their loyalty. Imagine a store doing weekend sales every weekend (RL or SL). This is the reason why Black Friday is only once per year. Not every weekend. You have no idea what the weekend sales are doing to the SL economy. Imagine stores in real to have a sale every weekend!! No one would go to shop there during the week. We would all wait for the weekends to shop. Of course, you will have some fast sales, but not as many as you would have if you were selling full price. Designers are going eventually to make less for their work if this continues with weekend sales. Do what #21 says and I promise you your sales are going to be more, without having to sell your work short for 60L. Designers, we all should price our items for how much our work costs! No one is forcing us to put them for 60L. Customers will buy at full price if they know you will not have it on sale in the next weekend.
If you just want to show appreciation to your customers loyalty, why do you even bother participating in a weekend sale? Just do a store sale once a month and your customers will appreciate it and bring you the traffic. All you have to do is send a notice in your store group and post on your social media.
Weekend sales goals are: Reaching out potential new customers, advertising and to earn money from items that are no longer a hit, since that is not part of your goals you can live without it.
it is better if you do it in well known weekend Sale cause the promotion and the exposure is way much better. My group has only 5k when their group has over 30k so you see the customers I get through a weekend sale will be more. But still I repeat I do it only once per month so my customers won’t get used to it and shop exclusively only sales items. That is the mistake most brands do as I see and train their customers to expect only cheap prices. 😶

If I’ve paid for a product I have every right to break it – if I do, the onus is on me. But most shit’s copy anyway, so that’s an easy fix if I just have a backup. No-Mod means I can’t delete scripts – or even replace the scripts with something less broken, I can’t make something alpha masking if the texture clips, I can’t link to other items I’m wearing to save on attachment points, etc etc.
If I buy a painting from an artist and I want to take it out of the frame to put it in something nicer or add a protective covering, or hell even dump a bucket of bleach over it, I can. Digital goods, namely _limitless_ ones that can be copied and restored at any time, have no reason to be any different.

An average sl user is only going to open the tab and see who the “creator” of an item is. If you don’t understand that then clearly you don’t do anything creative your proud of lol
