#25, no its not, Lighting has currently been adjusted, it is an ever evolving area at the moment until the right atmosphere is found.
#36 they are the same mesh, on the artstation page the artists said they were commissioned to make it for SL, and that they were only in charge of the Marvelous Designer portion, the zbrush sculpting was done by someone name Mauro Misiewicz. That’s why it doesn’t look like the finished product yet, what you are looking at in the secret is the initial simulation state.

I’ve RPed with at least 10 people on this list. One is a dear friend. /No one/ on this list has ever been unkind to me OOCly and no character on this list has ever refused to RP with me or treated me dismissively.
As a member of another Woodcrest Greek house, I can honestly say I have never had a bit of trouble with Tri-Pi or DAM. I have worked with them on several events and have always enjoyed working with them.

This right here. People talk and are friends outside of the sim. You can’t state what is said to be false with no persuasion outside of you saying so. That is one of the first rules of writing. He and I played several times up until three or four weeks ago. Each time I felt it was going to go in some direction. But each time it was blurred between ic/ooc chatting. A lot of things padded as a joke to easily back out if he gets called out on things. Why use the characters for a connection if you don’t want it part of the actual character growth? Hook up sims are numerous around SL and would cause much less drama. Maybe those sims don’t give you the false satisfaction of said actions bloating your popularity? I wouldn’t call him a pig. Annoying and misleading fits better. This is only my opinion.

I’m very sad you’re leaving. Like you, I can’t say enough good things about Neba, Jack and Julia, all of which I work with on a daily basis. In Omega we try very hard to provide an environment where this doesn’t happen, but obviously from your comment above this always isn’t so. If an Omega member’s treated you abusively, the Omega council would like to know about it so it can be addressed. We don’t have any tolerance for that, and if it comes to the council’s attention (of which I’m now a member) we’ll do our best to get it to stop.
I know not everyone has a good experience at WC, and I hope you can give us a try in the future and maybe have a better experience.

100% agree. I use the Maitreya body and I see the “Maitreya looks horrible and Legacy is so much better blah blah blah”. I actually have considered trying other bodies, but I don’t know which one I want to go with yet. I was curious about the Legacy body so I decided to try a demo to see what the big deal was. I did like the way it looked but once I saw the price I said thanks but no thanks. I’m not giving 5K Lindens to a designer with a bad reputation. So I’ll just stick with Maitreya for now.
I’m happy with my maitreya. It has great curves as long as you know how to use the sliders well. It’s the most popular body for a reason. And brands like Izzie’s can create great tattoo layers that accentuate the curves and add a lot of great features. No avatar has to look like a plastic barbie doll. People just need to learn how to shop. Not dissing on other bodies but Maitreya will reign supreme.
Maitreya is terrible looking, just really bad, and it has nothing to do with the sliders, the mesh is awful there is zero definition in that mesh period…..gross….and their new “updated” system is a joke, and at least 50% of the maitreya dorks don’t know how to use it, with all the confusing layers and crap
I’m happy with my Maitreya body too but sometimes I get curious and I like to look and see what’s out there and how other bodies look with my shape. So far, I’ve tried Legacy, (which I already described my opinion of), Slink(HG was too curvy for my taste, and Physique looked the same as my Maitreya body), and Ebody(which looked horrible), So I’m keeping my Maitreya.
If you think painted on texture layers are a good substitute for a detailed mesh, well… I guess that’s why you think Lara looks good. It “reigns” because it was the cheapest when mesh bodies were new, and it’s still the cheapest of the well supported brands. That’s it.
That’s the issue. People have no idea how to use sliders and the included shapes for a lot of bento heads are monstrous and inhuman in proportions to put it nicely (Yes LeL and Catwa, I sometimes wonder if you’ve seen a human before). It’s not the fault of the mesh body if people are trying to stretch and bloat it beyond what the SL skeleton can handle and still look human.

For the one who made this post about Woodcrest, I strongly believe you have some personal issues you throw over the entire sim and the people you pointed out completely random.
I can tell by now you really have no idea what you talk about, any sim use “(( ))” as ooc in local since some of players have family, jobs,any urgency that needs to look for and etc. And admins work their ass off to keep 2 sims alive, to manage all stuffs the best they can and interact with players in the very few minutes they have free; my point is where the f0k you come from dear?

Depends on who’s running the event. The organizer’s track record, reputation, and connections can very well give them big name stores in a first round. In addition to that, if the event is well planned and has a unique theme or concept, some people are more likely to get involved.

I’ve never actually had an issue with the WC admins, they reply when I IM them. I would imagine must work really hard to make it such a fun RP place for me to RP, and for free! Before jumping to conclusions maybe try talking to them? They seem to genuinely care.
I’m not really jumping to any conclusions about the admins. I’m mostly just saying that if there are ever times they are busy, or if they feel like there’s not enough hours in the day to keep some form of line of communication going. Communication is always key between admin and players in a large sim. They definitely care and put a lot of effort into the place and it shows. I’m sure they also end up with a lot on their plate too.

6- Thor is amazing creator and he has done gachas for a very long time. I do not find this as an issue as he sets his Gacha machines fairly. I usually can get a full set very cheap and what I don’t get from the machine I can get from the MP. It’s great that you don’t have any issue with it, others do. Personally I don’t want 17 copies of multiple items in order to get a full set that, in the end, is no copy. I’d rather pay a higher price and get the set up front. Gachas are great every once in a while, but not as your only gig.
Just pick any item ‘made’ by Thor and you can find it on some 3d model website. To actually model, texture and bake all the items in one of his gacha packs would take months. This is not about skill, it is about the actual time it would take doing the task without a time machine. The reason H&G gacha packs are chock full of stuff is that it would be really hard for the original creator to DMCA the items once they are out via resellers. Most of H&G is highly suspect in this regard, it is not only Thor.
I know many H&G creators who create their own items, THOR is one of them. To suspect that each of them buy their mesh and not create it is really not fair. If this is their fulltime job it wouldn’t take months. Some very talented creators here work very hard on their own mesh. Just because you or someone else couldn’t create items fast doesn’t mean others cannot. i.e. My SL father can make items FAST, textured amazingly and script them all himself. I know this because I have seen him do it. So please, don’t throw what you “think” to be true around about creators you know nothing about. Its how bad rumors get started.

Because y’all pay for it. You guys ignore the stores who make low poly mesh over stores who make insanely complex meshes, and then wonder why your SL experience is slow. Why not try supporting to creators who put in the time and effort to bring a better end user experience to all? Ah, right. Because that plant looks fucking amazing, so who cares if the creators are too lazy to put in the effort to make it low poly? ? Low poly doesn’t have to look low quality. There’s just an unfortunate number of creators who very obviously don’t really know how to mesh, and it REALLY shows when you start talking tris.
Yeah and not just the crazy tris count on something that small, but also the crazy number of textures they use per item. the bottleneck is almost always texture overload. Couple that with ridiculous tris count and you can understand why you decorate a place with their stuff, the sims start lagging to hell.

Exactly!!! That is a classic example of mesh taken from a 3D resource website and not optimized for SL use.
Most of the mesh in SL isn’t optimized because LL never set limits on how many verts/faces a mesh item can have. Not only that, but that engine for SL wasn’t designed to handle it.
There actually is a limit on how many tris an object can have (it’s absurdly high but it is there,) it’s just that other quality of life features, like linkset uploads, allows people to really easily skirt around that limit. If you don’t believe me, go take a look at any object that has 100k or so tris and see how many objects are in its linkset. Creative negligence isn’t the fault of LL, uploading models intended for high-res renders isn’t the fault of the engine, they just provide the tools that people are choosing to abuse.
It’s really not hard or time consuming in any way to lower the polycount of an object, even without doing full, proper retopology. There’s multiple extremely easy ways do it. Blender has a tool called “limited dissolve” that consolidates any faces with similar angles, and there’s a free auto-gen retopo program called “Instant Meshes” that commonly gets used on 3d scans. They both have their pros and cons, but they’re both insanely useful. ZBrush has ZRemesher that, again, is very simple and quick to use and exists in the same sculpting program that a lot of these people would be using.
The choice to not optimize is lazy at best, actively hostile and malicious at worst (since many of these “”creatives”” will tell you to your face that they don’t care if their items cause lag.)

I imagine the person who wrote this post is the same person who tried to have me banned from Woodcrest for my height numerous times… and also the same person from the same sorority as I?… if it is, which I am fairly certain it is, seriously.. you need to grow up a bit… its been 6 months if not longer… get over yourself… I left WU and the sorority months ago… I do sometimes regret my decision and have lost touch with some great people… but then this post reminds me why I left…. Then it seems you left for the wrong reasons, the sim is always changing and always improving. I agree with almost nothing you said, especially about the pool incident. I think you are confusing trolls with RPers. You should know better than to talk as if they were RPers, just look at what you said. – forced themselves into police car, drove police car into pool, no RP. That’s not an RPer. It also should not reflect badly on the sim since every sim gets them from time to time, when you spot trolls on any RP sim, they should be reported. The same goes for Meta/Powergaming, etc. Be the part of the change, not part of the problem. Run to other places, but the same issues like these will be there too, unless the RPers unite and report the people that do these bad behaviors. Don’t expect everyone to automatically know what’s bothering you, try communicating to the people that can help. One of the things I agree with is that there is someone that was probably banned, ALTing, looking for things to prove themselves right, when they are not right. Many people have and will debunk their statements.

I’ve personally been at Woodcrest for almost 4 years… almost its entire existence with a few short jaunts off to supernatural sims because I miss that aspect of RP that we used to have at Woodcrest. As a house lead for the better part of that time, I can tell you, the largest problem with Woodcrest isn’t the players that RP, which I’m fairly certain most of the ones in that list are some of the better ones I’ve engaged with, but the OOC drama and IM non-sense that goes on daily. The only time I ever ignore anyone is when my IMs are blown up by some bull crap like this from some whine bag that need look no further than their own mirror for the source of their problems. I too welcome a dialog with you, because the girls at Tri Pi are taught to be warm and welcoming to everyone and to introduce themselves to all new people as well as be the ultimate hostesses at parties, even those not of our own, so that people feel involved and engaged. So you sir or ma’am, seem to be ill-informed and a rather sour soul. I’m fairly new and I’m actually really nice and level headed. I don’t stir anything up, I keep my nose out of most things, and I am friendly to everyone. So to see my name up here is really upsetting. I’m probably one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet IC or OOC. I will always interact with people wherever I’m at. If you had a problem with my behavior, you could have brought it to me personally. I’m very understanding and in fact, embrace constructive criticism so I can remedy something. Putting me on this list makes me upset because now it makes me feel unwanted and that I’m not good enough to be around Woodcrest. I came to Woodcrest to have fun and try something new. Agreed x2, I am one of those new people and I interact with everyone I come in contact with in game that will talk to me. I usually don’t start many scenes myself because, of course, some people are shy as characters and they take a bit of warming up to new people… This would be out of character for my character’s personality. Not to mention, my character is also new so it’s not like they can’t just jump right into conversations with people they don’t even know..
Honestly, this just feels like someone that is salty and bitter that they aren’t getting the attention they want on the Sim and are just trying to call out good people that are just having a fun time, enjoying themselves the way they want to RP…

What the fuck is up with this fucking bullshit? Smells like someone is jealous of the creators that make a living doing their own mesh clothes, their own textures, their own scripting for the HUD’s.
Last week it was Blueberry, this week its Addams… both of which do their own mesh, create their own textures for their clothes, and so on. They are also two of the most popular creators on the grid, both of whom deserve it for their hard work and original mesh creations.
To whoever is posting these fucking secrets, you’re just angry inside and looking for attention… attacking Blueberry and now Addams is not the way to go, because everyone knows they both create their own mesh and have done so for YEARS.
Get help, whoever you are.
Neither of those brands make their own meshes. Ask them to live stream a sessions showing their sculpting or texturing skills instead of streaming their face on their twitch channels for a change.
Did you even visit the artsation there? The artist claims they were commissioned to make assets for SecondLife. Mot ONLY that but they were only the MD artist, they named the artist who did the zbrush work after the MD simulation.
Not only these brands don’t do their own work like they claim they do, they have so many people meshing for them that they even split up the MD portion and sculpting portion to two different artists.

Does having a team of seamstresses make that person less a designer and their products not theirs? Of fucking course not.
Original mesh, in this context, means no one else is selling it in SL, or ever has before, and that’s a perfectly valid use of the word. “Exclusive mesh” might be more accurate, but they are functionally the same thing. There are “creators” who buy full perm meshes sold in SL and put their own textures on them, and there are “creators” who sell unique items no one else has. Most of the complainers seem to be of the former category, and think they somehow deserve the same opportunities as those who sell exclusive items, like event invites, just because the biggest original mesh sellers have teams under them. Bet they wish they could afford a team to make meshes for them… envy abounds.
The funniest thing to me about full perm mesh resellers is that you rarely see them wearing their own shitty clothes when you run into them on the grid. They just think other people should be stupid enough to buy them, while they wear clothes from creators like Blue because they know damn well they look better.
As an aside, if Rouly/Spoiled and Seul/Pseudo all 4 have the same mesher, those last two should be pissed at the shoddy work they’re receiving, because their fit and rigging sucks compared to the first two. I always thought Seul and Pseudo stuff looked like it was made by the same person, anyway.
there is indeed absolutely nothing wrong with having a team at all. What makes it annoying is when they claim they do it all themselves and pretending they mesh and texture everything themselves, lying to their customers face and insulting those who actually sit there endless hours to do so. It results in people thinking that it’s normal and totally possible to release weekly sets containing 10 pieces in 5 different variations, rigged to 10 bodies, not to mention for the lowest prices. It’s unethical and insulting to all that actually work their asses off.
People want to pay others to do the hard work thats fine, but to talk about how busy you are and how hard you work on things…busy doin what? Writing a check to the people that actually do the work or busy tellin people how busy you are? gmab!
well the Ornella jeans by Addams clearly use Hudson Jeans textures. I reckon the Lixie jeans use another brand of jeans for texture too so they didn’t make those textures – still good work! Addams is a reasssunigly boring brand, but still some good stuff in there. Irrespective of who does what they earned their success.
