#32 Nammi only is the sweetest, most genuine person i have met in SL. What is this about?
#25 I’ll say one more thing about this and then drop it. I understand if someone is a blogger or does commissions in-world as a photographer for hire if, on their Flickr page, or whatever social media they use, a lot of their pics look the same. If your goal is to showcase tattoos or hair or outfits, it makes sense to show them in the best light. So once you have a pose set, and backdrop, and lighting you like, it’s understandable to keep doing the same type of picture. Me, I don’t blog, so when I do stuff I try to really change things up and not repeat myself constantly. I probably fail more than I want to admit. But as the saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. If you have a formula for doing pics, you don’t need to reinvent the wheel every time if your goal is to show off the items in the pic, rather than yourself. Or if you want to show your Photoshop skills to potential clients, you want to make things simple as well, so you’re not having to spend hours on each shot getting things just right for them, but instead offering up a “this is an example of what you’ll get” up front. So I get it in those cases, at least.

His net connection isn’t as bad as it may seem, too. Those crashes (control alt delete firestorm/slviewer) are done to go over to the other name. It happens a lot on the weekends or anytime things aren’t going his way. doesn’t it?

You Lose Them How You Find Them xD
#18 and #21, Look people, it’s simple. In Second Life, unless you’ve got mad building skills that you don’t share with others, you are limited by constraints on your shape, skin, hair, body, clothes, poses, backgrounds, lighting…. and that’s all just in the game itself. If you do think you’ve managed to make yourself remotely original, think again. There are literally probably hundreds of people with the same shape, same mesh body & head, same hair, same skin. And if you want to take pictures of your wonderfulness, again you’re restricted to poses you can buy unless you make your own, and backdrops you can buy unless, again, you make your own and don’t sell to anyone else. Otherwise, you’re going to find other people who have done the same shit, possibly almost 100% matching yours, but that doesn’t mean they copied you. Maybe they did, but odds are they just went to the same event you did, saw the same backdrop, had a similar idea for a pic, and did it. You know how many “copies” of pics I see on Flickr on any given day? No, they’re not copies. They’re practically uploaded within an hour of each other. Years ago, I decided to make my avatar blonde, when every guy in SL was dark haired and tatted up, all looking like each other. Then, within probably 6 month, I started seeing tons of guys who looked amazingly similar to my own look, down to the beard and even similar clothes. But did I get mad? Exactly, or when you buy a new car and suddenly everyone you see on the streets is driving that car, too. It’s all association. So yeah, I’m sure I wasn’t the only blonde dude in SL, it just seemed odd that suddenly I noticed a lot more. Dark & tatted is still the default preference for most, though, so I’m ok with it.

#11 : To be honest, Truth will always better than Stealthic. Mostly because Stealthic hair doesn’t have the amazing coloring/tones as others do. (Doux would be a great example of amazing hair tones) I also feel like Stealthic hair is flat as fuck on the top. Neither store has a reason to steal an idea from each other, theyre both well known and have a great rep. You decide to do a style and chances are, out of the thousands already out there, its bound to be similar to one. Stop stirring up bullshit when there isn’t any.

#25 And this is why photography in SL isn’t taken seriously by anyone. A middling photographer with slightly better post processing skills becomes the “It girl” of the moment because she gets a high number of views and likes. Of course then she gets a big head and shits on anyone that does the SL Flickr circle jerk she did.
At the end of the day, it is about taking good pics. How long did you think you were going to get away with taking basically the same picture 30 times. Somebody that takes more interesting pics are going to eventually get more shine.

I do agree that her stuff has gotten rather formulaic and repetitive, and I do dislike when anyone, no matter their skill or popularity, has to make themselves feel cool by pissing all over the work or habits of anyone else. But she does make a good point regardless, that some people who have absolutely no skills and take no time or effort to make their photos even look like photos (they’re pretty much just raw screenshots), try to hitch their wagon to anyone who’s more popular and then expect that person to follow them back. Ffs, she’ has over 11,000 followers!! All the time in the world isn’t enough to follow that many people, fave their stuff, even if it’s supremely good. You gotta manage your expectations, people. That being said, if I’m being honest, what she said didn’t really need to be said.
So Oakley is still a hypocrite then? I remember she built her brand by basically doing the same thing. It only seems like she doesn’t follow many people because after she followed close to 10k she mass unfollowed a whole bunch. She would comment, fave and follow all the “popular” people in hopes of getting the same in return. She takes decent pictures (same aesthetic all the time but who cares) but goodness that personality girl. Maybe there’s a reason other people can get 800+ likes. Maybe they’re actually likeable. Being pleasant goes a long way yaknow.

However, after contacting Tao herself, she appears to not being tied to Aphrodite store in any way, shape or form. This particular design has never been created for Aphrodite store. Yet Marina Ramer had the audacity to claim intellectual property of it and mentioned she had every right to sell HER full perm designs on MP…lol

Could not agree more. #5, yes, that is why things are sold in SL as “full permission” #7, everyone for all of time has copied what they thought was good. All the best artists have done it. click the word images now click the little camera and either upload the image of someone’s rl pic
or drag the rl pic into google image search.

#11 yes. They are similar but, I don’t think they are exactly alike. I always buy Stealthic hair. On sl and sims but, this time I did not.
At first glance, it’s beautiful but, checking out the demo, i saw some flaws that turned me off. Like the fact that from the side it disappears or looks like paper.
That demo of the Truth hair didn’t look like that.
Also, there are differences in the placements in the curves. Especially around the face.
You cannot condemn every person who looks at a photo and creates something similar.
I read a blogger “report” a couple weeks ago on some social media site that made a valid point.
Life inmates life. Each designer sees the same woman on the street, likes her hair style, decides to create it on a virtual platform, and tada… same style with very subtle differences.
I think both hairs have pluses and negatives. I decide based on how it looks on my avatar. Or on my girlfriend’s avatar.
Good job to both. And if ppl do not like it, learn to create mesh hair and do a better job.
