I wouldn’t say she is a thief. I mean most SL creators draw inspiration from things they see from the real world. As long as they are not using RL brand names, logos or buying mesh from 3D sites and claiming it as their own work I don’t see an issue. Hair creators in SL see a hairstyle on the web and create the mesh for it in SL. Same with clothing designers etc.

Copyright infringement has always come up in SL. People seem to think because its SL that the actual artists of the work outside of SL wont notice or care. SL residents often think “other people do it so who cares”. The artist who created the original work cares! Its theft. You have stolen somebody elses work and pasted it onto your SL and selling it for profit without the original artists consent. How would you feel if somebody stole your art that you put time and passion into then went and made money off of it and never asked you if it was ok? You would be mad as hell. Stop stealing peoples shit! If you had any creativity and talent of your own then you wouldnt be so damn shady and stealing from people. i repeat just because other people are doing it and just because the real artist hasnt found out yet, DOES NOT mean its ok for you to keep doing it!

Also, don’t support Vive Nine (who is continuously using slightly modified adidas symbols), David Heather, Empire, Seven, Reign and everyone who brings RL designs into SL and go about your life. Throw away half of your shoes, clothes and your skins. Almost 99% makeup skin designers rip real life faces and paste them on skins. Like -A said below, how many kardashians do we see running around? Just because your favorite shoes and clothes don’t contain real life symbols, does NOT mean they are not direct rips from RL designs. A quick google would prove my point. I bet you won’t delete shit though.
It’s not about a real life cat. That’s not the problem. It’s about somebody else’s photography being used without permission. Anyonecan recreate a thing in SL but outright using the RL photo from copyrighted artwork is the problem. Use stock images and no problem. Or pay for the legal use of an image. It’s no difficult to understand. As far as mesh recreations of RL designs unless the design is so unique to a RL brand and has never been used by other brands then I doubt it’s an issue. Also if these SL creators are creating these by hand in blender(or whatever they use) then it is their actual mesh work and not something ripped and reloaded. With skins it can be iffy especially if somebody is copy pasting celeb faces those may very well be violating copyright laws. If skins are just using bits and parts from free stock images of unknown models then there are no copyright laws broken. If people are using RL logos in their SL texture work then that is copyright infringement as well. The only reason people have gotten away with it for so long is because the RL artists and owners of these images have not been made aware.

I always hear numbers thrown around but I’m not sycophantic enough in the creator industry to have a contact.
It seems from the outside looking in that there was, at one point, money to be made. Real, honest money on the table. But honestly, I’m not sure.
To break it down, $50k is approximately, what? $200 USD? We’re not talking a lot of money here. I assume there are benefits to being a sponsor that allows you to easily recoup that $200USD? If not, I don’t see any real reason for a business to do it. And let’s assume that are all being run as businesses, with real business sense.
So let’s say you’re a sponsor now. You get some sort of kickback to help ensure your $50k is met. One would assume it’s above and beyond top billing on the shopping guide. If you’re paying purely for that, or that as well as decent machine placement in the region, you’re an idiot. But I digress.
You pay your $50k. You’re in the event. You’re giving up 5% of profits (which really, is fair enough. In theory this is giving you a platform to make money.)
You make a dinky little decor gacha. It’s $75L per spin at a top end. That’s 667 plays before you break even. Easy. But onlywhen you get to pull 668, you’re making profit…
I would love to see the breakdown of earnings for the various creators, because I get the feeling there’s a lot less money being made than people think.
If you scroll all the way to the bottom, someone broke down some numbers but it seems the breakdown is only really to show how much the event owners at the arcade make. I think the arcade event owners make a lot more money than some of the designers there.
As someone who is a customer, I feel quite sorry for the epiphany owner. Although I’ve heard a lot of bad things about the epiphany owner I can’t imagine a big event like arcade trying to sabotage their event. I could always tell the arcade was extremely greedy and I hope they get what they deserve. Their event absolutely sucks now and they have no place to be attacking other events like that
I went to the Arcade for the first time in a few years. I was shocked. What happened to all the big name designers, did they all leave? There was seriously only about 10 designers who work I would buy, the rest seemed like filler creators. I ended up leaving without a single play. Perhaps it is a good thing and gacha is coming to an end, I just didn’t realize they no longer had the top creators involved.

I’m just one of thousands who don’t see the need for some premium bullshit lol I give LL enough money as it is, they can keep their charity. Shouldn’t need to have premium for event special privileges, that’s laughable. There’s still thousands of people who don’t or won’t have that, that can’t get in, so meaning that full events will stay a problem. With or without premiums in the way. I don’t understand though…why would you want to stand around in a full sim and demo, or cam to ever single fucking vendor like some RL mall experience: the longer you’re there the more likely you are to crash anyways, loose your spot, and probably never got a chance to get anything. More people should be made aware of blogs and pages like such, to see everything there is to be featured in events, pick what you want from there, stop being a noob and use your area search, find the items, buy and gtfo. Then I’m more likely to have actually accomplished my mission before a bunch of script heavy and exaggerated avatars crash me. I do that in empty stores. Saves so much time frustration.
Trying on demos at a laggy event takes forever and often requires getting more naked than is in line with TOS based on the sim, as they are rarely adult unless the event itself is sexual in nature. Take your fuckin demos home and stop being so trashy- as someone who is also premium, it’s not that hard to get back in after.

Yes a crowded sim is the best place to demo to see how it works. It was always common sense to me to go to an event collect the demos go back and try them on then go back and get what I want. On my sim it was lag free and I could take my time and try it on with other things. IMO people who go to a crowded popular even that linger around taking their time trying on all demos are inconsiderate lazy asses. The world won’t end if you don’t get your pixel good right at that instant.

It likely won’t take ages for someone to try on a few demos before deciding whether or not to buy. That has little to do with being lazy either. You all acting like there would be people who demo every single item that is available at every event and try on 50 different things. If you tp home to try on all demos (likely only cause you are laggy as fuck for whatever reason), good for you! Do you really think the next person who gets your spot at the full sim, will be like “yay I made it, cause someone goes home to try their demos!”?
