Let’s go over this again. If you don’t want people to know about your RL don’t talk about your RL. If you want to keep anything about your RL separate from SL, again, don’t talk about it in SL with SL people. When your RL situation becomes public knowledge you need to point to the people you shared your RL with.
So if your gender, sexual orientation and/or relationship status is something you want to keep secret, then keep your RL business to yourself.
People just don’t seem to get the core concept of “the less people know about you, the better”! It’s one of the biggest rules of social media safety 101 where it’s forever stressed to limit the amount of personal information you put out there for everyone to see. The more you lay to bare; the bigger the target on your back is. And, this isn’t just for SL guys but for your overall well being and RL safety…. be very careful what you put out there.
There are far worse things than being on virtual-secrets at risk! Many a predator is online lurking in every dark corner of the internet; and their favorite easy prey are those who toss information around without a care or second thought.
I wouldn’t take it to tinfoil hat extremes or that level of paranoia. Hell their could be a predator at the check out line at the supermarket or under your bed.
But the point is valid don’t share RL information too openly. It only takes a RL name and location to do a search and get all kinds of info. Share even less if you don’t have a common name and live in a small town.
yeah Lourdes, I’m probably way on the paranoid side but I’ll just chop it up to some personal RL experiences that have made me realize that “person at the check out line” is very much capable & probably willing to stab you in the back if it ever came right down to it (both figuratively & literally)

Maybe so, maybe they tell themselves “This would Never happen to me!” But, everybody heed my words because this could happen to anyone . Everything you say and do online is fair game not only for online predators but for anyone and anything. Even people in your RL can take what you say on the internet put them out of context and then twist it to use against you! This can in turn have dire consequences that will effect you where it hurts most .
But one big question, will anyone listen to your warnings? That is a big fat no, as they think that no one will get them, or that they are invincible. They will keep on doing this shit, and well this shit will continue to happen.
Its not just SL look at FB where people announce they are going on vacation guess who that alerts THIEVES as well as sharing those cutesy pics of their children or worse I have seen females in their 20’s that share their RL pics on their SL profiles just waiting for those predators to jump on them pretending they are same age males ~ for me putting RL pics of yourself is a huge no no in SL ~ if you want someone to see RL send it to them after you take time to know them again no to be paranoid but rather be safe then end up a victim of scams or worse.
A dude I knew whined and cried that people found out he was a man and not a cute young girl. He got so angry that he put a special tab on his profile about privacy and quoted ToS with a threat of reporting any who violated it. However, in his real life tab, he linked his online blog which was public and his entire life was right there in the open for anyone to read including his real gender.
If you want your real life secret in SL, don’t hand your information to people on a silver platter.
Don’t ask me, I never understood how peoples logics in SL worked. So I was just like fuck it, I am not even gonna try to figure it out, too much of a damn headache.

Never understood the concept of when people get upset after they have blabbed stuff that possibly should of been kept quiet then they cry and whine about it as why put your RL or whoever’s RL pic on your profile then wonder why people make fun of you as SL is set up to remain anonymous so if you are some well known SL persona and are stating you are gay man partnered with another gay man when in reality you are a female ummm its not smart to voice or vice versus ~ especially after looking at profiles and seeing some RL pics I would not be showing them at all~just saying

I’d like to see all new comments, but I am finding that it’s very difficult to do so. Sometimes I can see the new posts highlighted in yellow, and sometimes not, although I see the total number of posts is much higher than it was before. Is there a way to subscribe so I get emailed the new ones (without having to comment myself), or a method by which I can easily see new posts? Thanks.
So, there’s a subscribe to all comments at the top (see image) then there’s a subscribe to specific comment threads, which is the bell next to the post button. I already get emails for all comments so I can’t really test properly how that works. And with 400+ comments happening I don’t feel like blowing up my email 🙂 Let me know how it goes!

#2 – No, not all pageants in SL are the same. Just because one person behaves badly toward contestants doesn’t mean all do. There ARE exceptions to that “rule.”

21 – First of all 500, achievement ! Whoever placed this in needs applauded, Skippy Beresford has long been running close to the edge with his tiring two faced path. To many he is a sweet boy but underneath lies the most vindictive and cutthroat horrible person that anyone could come across and uses people to get what he wants. I used to adore him but them I heard a few running gossip stories from various people who knew him but never gave too much away. I think maybe they wanted to forget him as a bad memory. I was a moderator of a Flickr group he was under and word got about he was banning people from the groups that he did not like. I lost track of all the families he has been in so that list grew all the time where he was kicked out from or left, nobody ever seems to know and what Mikel Monk is doing allowing him to be a spokesperson of TMD is a joke. These people don’t talk and see what happens when he gets control, the sociopath boy cannot handle it as goes to his head? Like everyone Skippy blames, he plays the victim and everyone is the bad one and most people believe it because of Flickr likes. He recently did the same to a friend of mine who really took Skippy in with photos etc, so its a regular thing and totally burned him out with his needy shit. Hi all. I don’t visit this site but I was directed to come see in case this started any wars I was unaware of. I felt it was fair I say something on this, as I know the comment above is indirectly linked to me. Let me first say I actually admire Skippy’s work, I always have. That being said we do have a massive wall of disagreement between us. Skippy and I used to be very good friends but that had been burned when a guy working on Skippy’s behalf, started to infiltrate any award I had and sold Skippy’s Flickr over my own. I was annoyed at that but the final straw came when I met him with another friend and his attitude was full of himself, bragging about what he was doing and the admiration he got. Later the same guy started offering Skippy room in some gallery after claiming he was no friend of Skippy, yet on several occasions name checked him as his favorite artist. So basically I was stepped on to elevate him in his early days of Flickr. I hate disloyalty and backstabbing so he left me little choice and not what I am used to with my friends, so I dropped him . Which I guess annoyed him but he did not acknowledge nor answer my requests for an explanation on the affairs at any time. He couldn’t as the evidence was clear . LOL yeah Maxwell. A nice guy I believe, never met him but for one time only. He was in a family with another friend I have. Story with that is there were three boys in the family originally ( way before the photos were a thing) but ” Prince Charming” pulled Maxwell away from the other, when he was not getting his way after trying to pull his weight on the family sim, banned a friend who worked on the sim to enforce as he was in charge. Of course it backfired, the brother took serious upset about it, Skippy dug his heels in stating he was right to do so and so left. Max I think was pulled to go with Skippy and renounce his place with the other brother, just pure emotional blackmail.
Of course over time I’m sure Maxwell was seen as unimportant , as I said before the only person Skippy deems important is him. Everyone else is expendable. I feel sorry for Max, he still supports Skippy to this day. If it were me I be on here now lol or chasing his backside . Shame because Max lost out on another brother who liked him very much.
I think its great that a person like you, can still do pictures and support creators without freeloading despite all the things that went on. A lot could be learned from you, Skippy could certainly. TBH… I didn’t even realize that secret was about Skippy till I started reading the comments. I really don’t know him that well but I’m quite inclined to believe much of what is said here because under that “cute as a button and sweet as honey” mask that he wears I can smell the vindictively manipulative little prick that you all speak of a mile away. And, I keep my distance from him because of this gut feeling. Hi Coffee Break and Thank You. No the negatives are not getting to me as I have had worse from his crew before, I expected it. He will be pushing others to put a negative in because that’s all it is with him, a game of wills and a battle. Instead of doing the right thing by admitting his faults, he will close walls and get others to fight his battles against “the bad people” and they will do it because they have not investigated nor any real experience of other kids but him. I know Skippy. I was a close friend to him also. Over time, the good Little Prince began to show his true colors. He began to discuss the ‘mean’ people on Second Life. These ‘mean’ people were constantly ‘bothering him.’ I fell for it. I fell for it hook, line and sinker. What I noticed about this guy is that he starts off as being innocent and kind hearted. Over time this behavior fades. He begins to complain about the people who have mistreated him, hurt him, guided him down the wrong path……….. the common denominator in all of it is HIM. I have since met some of the people he has accused of being ‘AWFUL.’ These are some of the most wonderful people I’ve met. I’m sure they are not always wonderful. But in the bigger sense of the word, they have been better friends to me than he has. They also do not complain to the degree that he does. Another important fact: if Skippy does not like you or something you have done, he will pretend to turn his head and be a ‘good person.” He’s not. Behind the scenes, he is making sure that those people (usually top creators or Flickr artists) get no where. He will not only talk about them to whoever is willing to listen, he will also go as far as to hurt their products, reputation or try his best from shutting them out of events. Anyways, all this kerfluffle about lady bodies and heads makes me glad that there’s no single man’s body to rule them all.
Okay, I am going to just throw some education in the mix for everyone new to Second Life. Stop throwing the word CopyBot around. First of all – copybotting is an actual action with an actual viewer. It DOES NOT MEAN this situation: “Lourdes created a pink skirt that had pleats with a hanging gold elephant charm on it. Then Kess went and created a blue skirt with pleats and a hanging gold kittycat charm on it” Or “Lourdes created some shoes in SL that looked exactly like some famous Jimmy Choo shoes. Then Kess went and re-created those same Jimmy Choo shoes for a later event”. An actual copybotted item is an EXACT COPY. EXACT. Because it literally is copied from bits that are downloaded to your client so you can render them on your PC. If 2 or 10 designers happen to re-create things… that’s just not being very creative, it is NOT copybotting.
The history of copybotting is interesting – actually the whole history behind the open sourcing of the viewer is fascinating. Watching people reverse engineering the server side was even more amazing to me. You all now have no idea how many VOLUNTEERS dedicated their knowledge to have viewer options or InWorldz or other virtual worlds.
It’s common knowledge in the real-world fashion industry that clothing structural designs can be copied, and even down to the style of textiles themselves. It’s when the design is considered a work of art, rather than a utilitarian clothing, that it can be protected by copyright laws with an additional exception being if they invented a new and original design, such as the US military’s combat uniforms. So when people get into such a fuss over SL designers imitating real life, and I mean that they created the imitation from scratch, it’s rather amusing from that perspective.
The only thing that they cannot do is copy the art and logos to misrepresent the real life companies themselves, such as Gucci, Nike, Disney, Apple, Audi, etc. Many real-world designers use copyrighted artistic textiles with company logos as a way to copyright their designs too. The more “street-wise copycats” in real life sell their faux products while skirting along the line of copyright infringement by removing and/or modifying these parts to imitate the real ones as much as possible.
On that note though, actual copying of digital files from other designers and platforms is intellectual copyright infringement, which is a bit different since even with modifications, they cannot claim copyright because a portion was stolen. That is true copybotting and I agree, the word does get misused a lot.

Agree with that as some in the Arcade should be careful about what they are selling as some are very very hardnose when it comes to even coming close like Disney among one will send a cease and desist letter to the offender and you do not want to mess with Disney when that happens.
We know what copybotting is, or at least a good chunk of us does. However, using your example, that person could have taken assets using the copybot viewer. Change the color, and voila the same damn shoe, just in a different color. Yes, but this reverse engineering, has lead to many security problems, within SL itself. So is it really a marvelous feat, or stupidity on the end of LL?
Before you start spitting education at me regarding this stuff – learn a few things. I was around when the client was closed source. I was around the people who reverse engineered it and I was around when it went open source. I was the 2nd panel coordinator for the Tampa SLCC Open Source Track. My husband was on the Chicago SLCC open source panel, and was the 1st coordinator for the Tampa one. He also wrote (it was a team effort, he did the Linux client mostly) a client that Firestorm actually used some of the code for – although they’ve probably nixed a lot of it by now since it’s way older. So with that in mind… No people do NOT know what Copybotting means and they don’t get the idea. People do not understand the concept. They also don’t understand that if 2 people make the same item it is okay if it’s not a direct copy (as in bit by bit – aka stolen). It’s uninspiring obviously but still not copybotting. If someone COPYBOTS an item and changes the color it’s COPYBOTTING because the actual pixels are the same for the object (texture, I’m not even talking that). If someone recreates it it is SIMILAR looking but will not have EXACT bits. Which I explained thoroughly in the 2 above scenarios. Permissions in SL are nothing but a notice – they are absolutely not enforceable. That’s been a well known fact since day 1 in Second Life.
Sammy a lot of designers if you look at events do exactly that they take the same exact template, change textures, and poof there is their creation that they will charge 250 for it where as someone else created the same thing with a little different hud of textures and they are less greedy and charge only 199 now the designer that charges 250 will sell more because of the name of the store just like some designers are now and I am sure will get flack for saying this but pressuring customers to start buying fatpacks and voila they will receive say an extra piece of clothing free ~ and isn’t that special when you do not want 5 pairs of jeans yet you are driven like everyone else that you WANT that extra piece of clothing so you suck it up and pay the ridiculous amount of money just so you can strut yourself and be one of the in-crowd. Sorry you cannot get that special piece of clothing separate UNLESS you again buy the whole damn fatpack that will cost you stupid amount of Lindens when you just want one color only. Sad this designer used to price her stuff reasonably and was not this greedy money hungry monger and how many times do you actually wear one piece of clothing that it is worth paying overpriced when you can step next door and get almost the same item or bargain shop on MP for same. Oh yes but but its the name and she is so good – seriously

Before shooting “solutions” like that, please make sure you know what you’re talking about in the first place. Even if LL would revert back to closed source, a copybotter can still run a program to save files off the official viewer’s cache because, well, it’s in their goddamn RAM all the time! It’s inevitable also with a closed source viewer, there is an (illegal) practice called DECOMPILATION which turns a software back to its source code state, allowing them to both reverse engineer any process or even modify the whole viewer code and recompile a perfectly legitimate “official” viewer from it, with unrestricted capabilities. But it is still a unnecessary effort, really, as the mesh asset architecture and encoding is publicly available on SL Wiki pages. Know thatand write aa program to save off all these mesh files using the provided encoding, and you don’t even have to risk to be caught by log in with a modded viewer.

The claim that SL’s customers have over creators that have to be a “one man army” or to afford such hiring is unjustifiable, pretentious and unreasonable. Unless you’re willing to pay from 5 to 10 times what you currently have to pay for a piece of clothing, it’s unreasonable. For the price you’re currently paying, it’s pretentious. Unless it’s a copybotted item, which means someone who downloads an asset from another SL user and re-uploads it on their name and sells it off as their own, it’s unjustifiable. Be happy with those that use reference images, who give you realistic stuff to put on although they could be more creative, adding their own touch at least.

Well, the thing about makeup and mesh heads is that not everyone in SL uses Catwa or Lelutka. I use an Akeruka head, and I can’t even count the times I’ve fallen in love with a makeup, only to learn it’s made only for Catwa, or only for Lelutka. Thankfully, there ARE makeup creators out there who offer many versions of their makeup, including Omega (why everyone doesn’t do Omega, I don’t understand, because they’re just losing money by not offering that option).
Actually, my biggest complaint about makeup is finding that most of my Omega huds slap eyeshadow on the blush layer, which is just weird.
also,you need to open your omega relay system hud up fully ,it wont do that if you de-select all and pick just eyes & eyebrows 🙂
LIKE I said,they don’t usually make multiple heads or mega cause it wont always work,I use to make strictly catwa & omega make up appliers til I said fuck it,and just moved to doing tattoos because omega appliers for tattoos was better then catwa,anybody (literally) can wear tattoos. heads are a different story. i recommend people going to get the free omega kit and trying it out on 6 heads. good luck.
You guys are acting like there is no absolute way to take the appliers you own and put it as an omega install. Google is your friend lelutka users
Lelutka heads are shaped so different from Catwa’s that any skin designer worth purchasing from makes a slightly different version of their skin releases to accommodate each head, when they offer both. I imagine that slapping something made with Catwa in mind on a Lelutka just because you’ve Googled how to convert to an Omega install would be pretty terrible.
If you knew anything about how omega works, you’d know its up to the designer to make the omega appliers, not the consumer.
Omega requires the texture UUID in order to work, and unless you’re willing to copybot the texture, there is no way that anyone besides the designer would have access to the UUID.

It is really up to the creator of the applier, if they want to make it or not. You cannot force someone, to make what you want, if they are not entirely comfortable with it. Like this whole demanding things, will not get you far. If I got notecards asking that, if I made stuff. I would explain in great detail, why I choose not to do it. We are paying time and Lindens to create and we like to see return. Many of us create for other heads to test the market and go back to what sells if it flops. I am not going to keep creating products that sell 10% as often as Catwa or even less. It makes no sense when I can put time into a product that will sell. So, no. It’s not more money.
Also, Lelutka users have more brand loyalty with 3rd party creators, which is the only reason I ever create for them at all. Maybe instead of hounding the creator you like to spend hours doing what you want you could, you know, go look for it elsewhere?

On top of that, its about marketability, as well as the demographic. For heads, Catwa has the market, and will most likely have the market for a long long time, for Body, its Gianni and Maitreya. As most people, find these to be the nicest made bodies, and they actually have more creator representation. So people will want to go to something, that has more representation. That also means creators, will follow suit too. As it will make them more money, again marketing 101. I don’t think that Lelutka, will get that much fame as you are saying, since again the market screams Catwa. Maitreya is definitely NOT the best looking body, but people buy it because there are more clothes for it. There are more clothes for it because there are way too many misguided designers doing “Maitreya Only” releases due to the body being so mind-numbingly difficult to rig. The official kit is terribly decimated and blocky, making the weights very inaccurate. By the time they’re done rigging the maitreya size, their souls have been sucked clean out of their bodies so they just don’t have it in them to rig for the other bodies LOL. Belleza actually has the best looking bodies but due to them not making their kit available for over a year, they allowed maitreya to take over and monopolize the market.

The only decent body in the Belleza store, is the male one. But that is due to one thing, it is Bento. That and I am sorry, but for me Gianni and Jake are a huge tie for me. That being said, that is your preference, I prefer Maitreya. As I like the look of the body itself, and when was the last time you used or even had the Maitreya body?

Which is fine it’s on them, they can make what they please. But I do think Lelutka is on the rise and I do believe designers will keep up accordingly. Though I’d say Genesis beats both Catwa and Lelutka in Uniqueness for heads but there isn’t much out there for it so people tend to spend their time and money on Catwa because of how much there is for it so it kinda is a vicious circle.
I guess its all personal preference. I like Lelutka and Catwa. There is up and down sides on both mesh heads. When i used Lelutka it was a real struggle to find good skins. But there is more and more creators that makes Lelutka appliers.
I went back to Catwa cus i found a head i really liked but also cus i felt there was no really good appliers for Lelutka. (3-4 Months ago, in my oppinion)
Now there is Lelutka appliers everywhere and creators are getting better and better at including Lelutka.
Just think about people who use Logo, Akeruka, Vista and Genesis. maybe its just me but i dont know alot of skin creators for those heads. 🙂
Also if the creator wants to only make catwa skins, let them. Dont force it. Just ask if they want to make Lelutka appliers in the future and if no, then forget the store or buy a Catwa head if you think the skins are worth it 🙂

They are ageplayers who run around fucking their sons, and this is sl and no one is truly related, but having a sexual relationship with that son who is in a kid/teen avatar shape? Yet everyone around these two turns a blind eye and is too busy kissing their asses. Their entire pageant is just an excuse for them to feed their egos.
