I am still friends with both and we ended things on good terms. BUT,, since playing secondlife, I have seen somethings! The stories are endless, I just have to watch others and the stories never change.
Seen some things whats that even mean ? It is rather disappointing but they do have the right to not sell to someone. It’s ridiculous though and makes the look rather greedy but it’s within there rights to do it. These people act like sharing backdrops and items for photos is somehow new. It’s not. I’ve seen them around since I joined about 6 years ago and most of those places had been around before that even. Honestly, if things like that weren’t available to me as a new user I wouldn’t have gotten into SL photography. By now, of course, I’ve spent a lot of money in second life. The idea that these items being shared will cause people to NEVER buy your product is the opposite of true.

If this was your livelihood… why wouldn’t you cash in on Backdrop City’s popularity? If I made backdrops and BDC suddenly popped up, I might have been a bit upset but then I would have seen the opportunity for $$$. See, BDC is laggy and can be crowded, it’s also a showcase of interesting and fun backdrops. Say a blogger or even just a regular SL person goes there and they really like a certain backdrop. They want to use it on their land where there’s no lag or people or they want to use it in a build. If I was a designer – I’d want my store ad or a vendor right there for them to go purchase it while that whole “I need this” blood is flowing. Maybe they’ll go to my store to see what else I have. Since I’m not being a jerk and am cool with BDC, I’d probably get more business just based on that which means more $$$. In the end, my store name would have gotten out there more. Win-win.
If you don’t think that works, think again. I can’t tell you how many furnishings, houses, or poses I’ve bought because someone left them out for public use and I decided I wanted them. Owning the item gives you the control over it.
I’m a creator who does my shots at backdrop city and I have purchased at least 3 backdrops because of that place.

I get that argument but SL is based on people taking individual elements and tinkering to make something fun. Even if it is 100 dicks. Anxiety is also a game level designer (or concept artist – not sure since last thing of theirs I seen was a game demo of scrapped project) so presumably ports their work and gets main income elsewhere. Not that it is relevant as other platforms have different rules.
It’s not up to the designers how a customer uses their product. They can share all they want even if it makes you angry. You are in the wrong as well if you are using second life as your main income. The game is degrading over time and the consumer base is dwindling daily. Blame yourself for investing your precious time knowing fully that second life’s user base is low. Designers are doing a disservice to themselves when they treat consumers like criminals.

It is indeed a game. Avatars are characters. They role play. It exists by logging on a computer. A real social network are the friends you meet with daily. You go have a coffee with, go to the movies, and relationwise have physical sex. Anything else is only online and are online. You talk to them only on a computer. You are not with them. Simple as that.
Interesting that I have met life long friends from here that from there I have met in person and so many of my SL friends I text with them, send cards on holidays not sure who your “friends” are but mine have been in my circle for years again you are making assumptions that everyone just role plays in SL not being their true self and will agree that yes many do just come into SL to role play but am sure each have those that are good friends known for years again I will disagree with you that SL cannot really be a “game” if the definition defined by Websters states “a physical or mental competition conducted according to rules with the participants in direct opposition to each other” when I log on and speak with friends am being who I am in RL might not look the same but my smartass attitude is who I am in RL. Some of my SL friends have helped me more than I will indulge you just to prove a point. Cursive serif fonts and dance poles next to each other on a raised platform with greeble lighting has been a club trope in SL since 2005. It’s been that way because it works. Really? Because there are plenty of creators who feel that way- believe me, Ghoul doesn’t care how you feel about how she feels about Maitreya. Many other high quality creators feel the same, and only rig for it because of the market share. It’s the basic bitch body; seems you’ve embraced that.
While I agree with what you and many more say about the Maitreya creators, I wouldn’t call it the basic bitch body. I use it, and I’m pretty far from being basic. So are a lot of others! I’ve tried them all out there, from Wowmeh, to Slink and all of the Bellezas. But between all of them, unfortunately, Maitreya has the most natural look, unlike, for example, Hourglass with the badly modeled mesh. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but Slink proved with that body, that they know little of anatomy and how the human body works. (Sorry gals, that’s not how booties and thighs look and work.)
Same with Belleza and their odd mesh deformations. Sigh.

The only reason why creators pick up maitreya now is to continue to get value out of their items they invested in. Most creators are either using belleza and hourglass. I’ve seen a large push in the last few months to keep rigging up for belleza and slink. Face it, maitreya body is a step up from noob. It gets a great push for beginners because of its affordability. The body is beginning to show a push back since pony riders and thunder thighs alike make it undesirable for seasoned players. Who wants to look the same always? Maitreya has one thing going for them and its popularity and bento. If belleza ever pushed out bento there would be a big drop in maitreya. Besides it’s easy to get a rig going for maitreya since the rigging kit is available albeit a hot copy through youtube links.
And why has not Belleza pushed Bento ~ I tried various bodies before choosing Maitreya ~ one for the ease of sliders so I didn’t look like everyone else but that also has the ability to give yourself those gross thunder thighs and big ass too, which I find gross to me. Would not call Maitreya just a step up from noob and you truly give no reasons why you think that.

Someone purchasing a full perm mesh to re-texture are paying for the mesh. There is a big difference from someone who simply ‘traces’ a picture of an object they find online. There is also a difference in finding inspiration from something and stealing someones idea. Just because ‘a lot’ of creators do this, doesn’t make it acceptable. It’s pretty common in RL purchases too, shirts and coffee mugs that have stupid sayings on them is an example. Complaining about it probably won’t change anything, but the person who made #4 has the right to expose the creator and not purchase from them. But yeah, it’s nothing like using full perm mesh that was purchased and using it as intended.

I think we all have people on our FB lists with whom we haven’t spoken in months or even years. It sounds like a casual acquaintance, not a friend, who posted that secret. Of course, even our good friends can disappoint us.

Who says I don’t already? If there isn’t something at the event that I want before I step a single foot on the sim then I don’t go . If events suddenly weren’t to be and we all had to got back to “the good old days” of having to go stores I’d be perfectly content with that . I remember SL before there was events, gacha, mareketplace, and seraphim! shopping took longer but it also was way more fun, sociable, & my personal fav… creators had to be less drab because most “advertisements” were done by word of mouth.
Oh lordy. Once I seen on FB the Seraphim vs TCF owner drama I was like “all of the secrets are going to be about this”. First off, TCF has a rep for being an ass so I don’t side with him but Seraphim needs roasting. They monopolize the market way too much, they cut you off if you disagree with them or question them at all. Del is a drama queen who didn’t need to share these messages she had with him, the notice sent out about her just said something to the effect of “we won’t be using seraphim anymore because of the attitude and actions of the owner of seraphim”. Del with her drama loving self was like “Here’s the receipts, girl”, whenever she doesn’t need to do that at all. She had a monopoly on the market so this was just to get pity for herself, all of her comments were kissing her butt. It was disgusting. But shockingly she revealed her business practices (she usually lies about it), only events that get high clicks get posted so any new events unless they are backed by like Truth or another huge organizer will not be posted. She also BS’ed her way around this but she also revealed she does this to get clicks on her website so she can charge more for ads and brag about her “views”. Her ads are a waste of money, they did not help and her coverage wasn’t as great as she boosts about I’ve had both in the past. If you ever see them doing something that seems nice or helpful to anyone, you can bet either someone paid them or it will give them huge traffic boost to their website. #2. 3 things SL should dump…1. EVENTS, These events have become ultra tacky and have the whole SL population looking like clones. No one is different anymore.
2. Harness outfits. Ffs how many harness outfits can you spew out?

Never in a million years thought I would be defending crotch strips – but they do come in handy with those thousands of super skin tight short dresses that you cannot wear panties under for those in SL who prefer not flashing their goods every time they sit or move. I do agree however that harness outfits are overdone and too many events are spawning a whole Stepford wives look to most of SL.
I honestly really think they need to change the entire business model of a group. Like 2 weeks to a month, to even browse around. Probably less for designers, why can’t they make it every 3-6 months?

Thongs still have straps that come up over/on the hips. Some designers like le fil casse rig their skirts SUPER tight (which isn’t bad, it looks really nice), but even with the tiniest of thongs the straps/strings will usually clip. Some designers are at least aware of this and build on optional panties to the skirts.
You can totally wear applier panties, but sometimes there’s alpha conflicts on mesh bodies if you also use other layers that use alphaing. I’m not sure if it’s a problem exclusive to maitreya, but sometimes at very large heights layers on mesh bodies can flicker or vanish as well.
Just saying crotch strips kinda serve a purpose. Though to be entirely fair I made one on my own when faced with these issues; so I probably don’t need to buy another one ever again. I wasn’t aware they were a huge thing when I made mine. lol

Unfortunately, appliers can clip. Some clothing is so tight, that if you wear something on the underwear layer, it will clip through. It’s often an easy fix, as you can alpha the body part out, but not always. It can happen.

I have been around longer than Magika, I can say this secret is accurate. You should probably do YOUR research first.
Okay, firstly. The Stealthic issue. Coming from someone who has been around in SL for 9 years, playing and modding sims for 14, playing and modding Elder Scrolls games since Morrowind, (fossil asf), Stealthic has been creating hair specifically for SIMS for a VERY long time. You can date hair easily by finding it on his simblr, or on the sims resource. After creating his hair for Sims, it is then converted by other people that make mods for other games, if you look, you can almost always find credit from Apachii, Skye, ETC. (Other contributors are artists like LeahLillith, who also has created hair for sims that has been converted on Apachii mods for skyrim and fallout) – Then, recently Stealthic (who creates hair for sims using the same name) started importing his hair into Second Life. You can tell it is him by his style (AND THAT HE IS NOT SOMEONE ELSE) because he uses PLANES when creating hair. It is common to use planes instead of chunky cylindrical pieces for Sims because there is a smaller poly count which is essential for Sims hair usage, whereas most second life hair creators almost always use the latter method because of the alpha issues and unlimited poly count. Secondly, Magicka. From shopping in Magicka, Truth, Wasabi for (mostly) nearly 9 years, I can tell you first hand that all of these creators have gotten ideas from each other, as well as from sources else where (RL, Sims, etc). I don’t know where someone has gotten this idea that it is so fucking taboo or bullshit that someone takes an idea and makes their own version of it. I’ve been in SL 10 years in May. When I got here Magicka was already here and well established. She didn’t always just make hair. She made accessories and other stuff. This is the first time I’ve even seen her on secrets in 9 years. I have an idea who submitted it and I’ll just say it’s a competitor.
I’ve also been part of the some community since the start, about 18 years. Not as much since sims 4 was released. Never heard of stealthic until sims 4. Yeah they are a featured artist on TSR. But where were they in sims 2 and 3 the height of sims modding? So they haven’t been around that long.

Magika has been in SL for 10 years plus, one of her customers noted their first purchase going back as far as 2009. So for a popular creator practicing her skill for all these years, she’s doing pretty well for a hair theif that’s not been called out or closed due to copyright infringement.
So let’s say she stole an idea when starting out, research the book ‘Steal like an Artist’ concept artists and designers do this constantly. Also nothing on a quick search brings up “Magika copied ….etc”.
For 10 years this woman has worked hard and thoroughly deserves the award. You’re the only one disagreeing… are you our sl secret poster I wonder or do you have proof she steals all of her designs.
Okay, but when there are key similarities to each hair in the picture. That even a moron, could go to the Nexus(A mod site, where you can find hairs just like this.)
And realize that wait, those look very similar to the ones found in these games. Then it becomes, hey did she make it herself, did she grab it from the Creation Kit, or is she also the Mod Author herself. So really do a bit of homework, and don’t blindly follow people.
My Case in Point, Jaysus, the guy who created the Jaysus swords. Filed a DMCA, when he or one of the people who used his mods, found the exact same swords on the Marketplace. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1002.
He even posted on his mod page, that he had noticed it and had filed the necessary paperwork. So that raises the question, did Stealthic actually do it or was it a blatant rip off of Mods from their respected games.

So because someone stole some swords it suddenly means stealthic and Magika steal? Stealthic has been in the Sims modding community for YEARS before joining Skyrim OR second life and Magika has been here for 10+ years. None of your claims make any sense since no one has filed anything about those two specifically. Jaysus literally named no names.

Technically…pretty much every hair style that is in SL has been created by someone else years ago in RL….so…….
Not arguing with you, I’m just being a bit logical here. There is no way for 10 years someone has gotten away with copying other Artists. They might of done it once or twice, maybe three times but as Sammy down below says, the word starts to surface and cycle around. Which is why I mentioned, if you’ve got proof, by all means show it to us.
Think of yourself as Magika, you work your arse off and make nice hair, you make a living from it (Speculation, I don’t know this person’s income etc) then someone comes along slaps your face on a picture and goes “You copy Artists, you don’t deserve this award”. – Shout out to the poster of#14 = You’re an arsehole. One trip to Google with ‘Stealthic’ (if you don’t know the creator, like me) and it literally brings up pages of information on how they make hair for the Sims and other platforms.
So just like this week’s secret, rather than brain or I don’t know, ask the Creator “Hey Magika, I seen a hairstyle that you do in an event last week, is that yours?”. Or jump into the Magika group and ask, they rush to SL Secrets and just talk utter rubbish.

He might love it, but it’s a legit statement. It is lame there. A bunch of white people listening to a “DJ” playing MP3s (I made a request once and an AEG DJ literally ripped the official music video for the song off of YouTube and played it without checking it first, and of course the song had like a five minute movie sequence attached to the beginning- it was so cringey), most of them standing there in silence. A mall that I might have seen five people maximum browsing in at any given time, filled with pretty uninteresting, usually outdated content by less-than-exciting creators. The “DJs”, bless ’em, rarely make enough in tips to try and entertain a boring, sarcastic crowd, and definitely not enough to put up with Phil’s ego. And hosts! Cheerleaders trying to make a party happen that never will, practically for free. The same formula that most every other place playing music follows, give or take a mall. It’s never been cooler than that.
Then again, what dance clubs in SL are?
So if it’s free advertising from the jealous and disgruntled, it’s not like the curious SLsecret readers are going to TP over there and have their mind blown, feel like they’ve found a new home because they love it and will never leave. It really is that underwhelming.

Botting is where you don’t purchase the item and you copy it through a program used to do so. Purchasing it and putting in a public place, is different and you have a right to do that with whatever you purchase
