So with the back and forth about child avis, I decided to see first hand what goes on and what the big deal was about. Now, just because you log into SL doesn’t mean that it is okay to just abandon all good judgement or that all of a sudden you just turn into someone else. There are thousands of online things to do, logging into SL is only one. There is a fetish community rl, where grown adults wear diapers, talk baby talk, etc. you can find them anywhere online. I dont know about anyone else, but there is no way socially I would be connected with someone who does that. To me, just because you choose to act that way while logged into SL doesnt make it any more acceptable, nor does it make me want to be a part of your roleplay experience as an adult baby. I created a child avi one afternoon just to see first hand what happens. I decided to go to a common playground area that specifies that it is only for FAMILY rp, that no age play is allowed or will be tolerated. I made a little girl avatar, flat chested, as one would expect to see in a child. When I get there, I see babygirl type of avatars that had questionable groups standing around with tags that said things that should be very far away from a child or family rp area, if that is what SUPPOSEDLY these family places actually are. So I take my child avatar into another area, where there were playground items and games. Within 5 minutes I had 3 ims from grown male avis wanting to hang out, telling me my avi was pretty, did I want to go with them and chat, etc.… Read more »

This sounds like Goat made this. ROIAF is like an STD that won’t go away. Everyone who has played there and left knows the story. The admins/owners make you NPCs to their stories and you can’t get anywhere unless you are banging the owner. The only reason people come back is because it’s the only place around for RP sometimes.
Do other sims close? Sure, there is a life cycle of every RP sim. I can only name a handful of them that have ever lasted more than a few months. ROIAF goes through the same thing. They reboot the story every so often, put lipstick on a pig, and pretend everything is alright. They close just as often as any other sim, and the build is laggy and disgusting.
Don’t tell Goat you hate her build though. She’ll hate you on all her (many) alts, metagame against you, and find a reason to ban you.
Does RoF have problems? Sure. Every sim does. I think it’s a thousand times better than ROIAF though and it hasn’t even opened.

The sim owner herself, isn’t that bad actually. I can’t recall ever RPing with her but she did help with a build for another sim I did and she knew her shit. The admin team she has now could just be a ploy to keep away from all the dramatic people who typically fill those slots in GoTRP. Myself being in that same typecast. I love drama.
To end this. ANYTHING is a good alternative to ROIAF. I won’t bother with Reign of Fire but for most people.

When I played in ROIAF, there was a noble woman who got pregnant with a bastard, and slapped the king. Her ‘punishment’ was to get banned from court for about two weeks, and noone else even reacted like it was a problem at all.
I’ve played smallfolk there before, and literally had to chase people down to get them to roleplay with me. Once, I approached a group of lords who were RPing nearby to post in, and they TPed away to a different part of the sim. No, they weren’t doing anything shady or private, they were just doing chit-chat rp in public, they just didn’t want to rp with a smallfolk.
Strangely, though, when I swapped to a male character (still smallfolk), I was drowning in noble skirts throwing themselves at me.
I’m not sure i’d go as far as to say it’s a good substitution for ROIAF. I think it’s a case of deciding

Usually the whole “leash” thing is part of the Yuus/Nuus HUD that I see a lot of TDs use and it’s supposed to simulate how real parents often keep their real kids on leashes. Not saying I agree with it, I prefer the more subtle “hand hold” function that forces the kid avatar to stay close to the parent without a leash. If there’s a collar involved though… yuck, that garbage has no place on a kid.
In 10+ years in SL, I’ve personally encountered about 12 actual pedophiles, one who left me so shaken up that I dropped out of the kid avvie thing for a while. That’s 12 people out of hundreds I’ve met.
For me in 10+ years in second life I’ve only seen one child avi on a leash, granted they were also collared. I wasn’t even on a sim that was child friendly, bdsm friendly or anything like that. Was just a regular sim without sex stuff or kids stuff. I was skeeved out as heck, but I know it’s not the norm. I’m with you on the whole if you see it everyday then you’re the problem.
