Ok, so just want to say…. some of this “copybot ” stuff does not look the same to me. Just throwing that out there.
@Body Kits: Most are available as most popular bodies in SL orginated on Nexus Mods and the versions available now are usually the New Vegas ones (as Skyrim ones had physics incompatible with SL). Male TMP is solely Fallout 3 / New Vegas and it Breeze’s male body. Others are the other one I forgot name for as yep, loved Nivea’s mods and she used Breeze. Maitreya is CBBE, even with default skins being the same. Belleza and Slink are mixes and varations. This is not me saying that SL creators lied as converting them is tough and then you have to get all the permissions and essentially one body’s upload cost would be about up to 2k. Then you add alpha scripting and it would take time to compile even if freely available. So … 4k and most bodies are 5k which is adding hud graphics and staff and marketing and so on. I would recommend using Breeze as template and not male TMP – link and rigg it after and porting Breeze as template into your fav choice programme is free (as is TMP kit). It is solely due me finding it way easier to work with it. One thing though – SL shops: please credit your bases if they are not custom and made for you. Most of you take stuff freely available from foreign forums made for DAZ 3d or Autodesk software – porting a mesh is nothing dirty and still admirable but not mentioning authors is shitty. Yes, Fateplay, Gabriel, Corvus, L & B, Redgrave, Reverie and way others I forgot – it is you. About # 10…. Some of us creators prefer the Belleza but cant get a dev kit to work with. Belleza is extremely exclusive in regards to their body kit. Maitreya also holds a monopoly over their body but they at least give other creators a chance to create. So a lot of us just have to work with what we are allowed to. For the record…. I know Maitreya doesnt give out their kits easily either. I know a few famous designers have been sharing the body kit with one another with out Maitreya’s verification. I, personally refused it. These are the same people who put “experimental” with their sizing.
@Maitreya vs. Belleza: Doesn’t matter who ‘gives kits out more liberally with apps’ – those who do not add them as normal function are crap. Period. Slink always did that and whilst I do love TMP as a shape (yes, am aware it is not one shop made but it fits my image best plus I do know it is horribly borked) – they made them having a ‘free kit to all!’ available as an event. Ha ha no. Same with heads – sure, have one avatar with Genesis head as it fit theme on dot but otherwise would not endorse creators that do not allow modding, fiddling or appliers.
I do own Maitreya body on one avatar BUT it was due to the skin I wanted happening to have an applier for it and whilst I could do it on Slink as well – just liked the first one better and could afford it at the time. Otherwise – no real reason to buy bodies that do not support moding. The end.
I’m gonna stop you real quick. As someone who HAS the Belleza kit and doesn’t use maya, the Belleza kit is a mess. You have to essentially built the kit yourself, and no matter how many times you try it, it’s still fucked up. The Maitreya kit isn’t that much better. The weights are off in so many different places it’s pretty much guess work. Slink is the best kit and best system, but I don’t like the shape of the body or the wait it changes with the weights. Still, no one can deny that Maitreya is the most popular body, so of course people are going to make clothes strict for it. It’s the same with Catwa. 9/10 skins are for Catwa only! It’s supply and demand people. There’s a demand for Maitreya clothes, so designers will supply it. There’s people wearing other bodies too, fine… but not enough to constitute all the extra work of making 40 sizes. Stores like Addams and Blueberry make every single size because they’re paying someone to make and rig their mesh. I would bet you all of my lindens that if they were doing it themselves, they wouldn’t be offering the vast array of sizes.

That’s a friendly advice to all the people out here that Maitreya thinks aren’t good enough to work with her body. It’s not like you’re doing anything wrong. You’re simply making sure the rig will work on her body. Maitreya owner is a cunt.

Yeah sorry. I use the standard SL body and Ebody on my adult alt because I don’t like looking like a blow up Barbie doll. I couldn’t get Maitreya or any of the big three to stop having pear tits, wasp waists, and shelf butts no matter now I manipulated the sliders and while it’s cool if others want to look like that – I don’t. I’m not in this for the Slex and I don’t want to look like a model. I don’t even use my Ebody half the time because it doesn’t like to co-operate with my favorite mesh jeans and tops.
Lotta places lost my business as a result, same as when 90% of kid places went to TD and stopped making clothes for standard kids but you know what? It’s fine. I have so many quality mesh clothes that do fit and fitmesh/liquid mesh is a thing too. If they want to cater to those bodies, I shop elsewhere, no biggie. The Grid is full of hundreds of stores, find the ones that haven’t gone all Maitreya. They do exist.

Rigging has nothing to do with scaling and editing vertices. Rigging is weight that each vertice carry per bone. SL has a limit of 4 bone influences per vertices meaning you cannot have 5 or more bones influencingthe same vertice.
Some of these mesh body creators doesn’t have an optmized rigg, they have a hot mess of weights flowing around the bones. Most of the kits that are given to the creators have vertices with more than 4 bone influences per vertice, so that is already wrong. What happens is that when you intentionally fuck the body by decreasing it’s vertices, you will lose weight information from the vertices that were erased, and that missing information might be added to the vertices surrounding them during that process which inflicts in the breaking of the bone influences limit. So, when we copy the rigg from that kit to our outfits to make it fit, we are copying a troubled rigg that we need to clean and then try to make it fit as it should by imagining how it should be before the decreasing of vertices and weights.
Gotta agree, so many times i’ve seen really nice outfits and only for belleza or physique. I dont come here bitching about it cause if thats what the creator just wants to do its up to them.
@Herve Faenzo: I am awfully curious as why – most bodies are rigged to SL skeletons – be it basic or bento and if not – it is not vastly different so fitting your mesh to a body is essentially scaling / vertex editing and brushing it to fit, then just running same actions for any body. Essentially – you would need to have photo material of avatars in this body to do a fit if you are pressed but with kits it would be simple, so do not see how it inhibits creators as all bodies I worked with had similar rigging just different placement or scale. That does not mean it does not take time or anyone is giving up on a ‘simple job’ or requesting too much money as I am awfully stupid and it took me a year to get fitting and rigging for all bodies. Still not grand with weight maps as found out they are not universal and in some cases they work opposite of what you intend (no move areas causing deformation or opposite … could be new SL update as started rigging meshes just before that and while it was smoother then – do not know if it was universal).
Something else that you might not know coming from a creator who has worked with a few kits so far. We are basically slaves to these kits, if we don`t own it and can`t provide a proper rigg for our outfits that fits these bodies we are pretty much screwed. The thing is, some of these kits are simply awful to work with.
Designers sometimes can be unrational when it comes to protecting their work (I know I`m guilty of that) and when you think about mesh body creators, it is no different. Most of the kits I`ve come across was intentionally `downgraded`as some security measure. What they do is they give the creator a version of the body that is very low in vertices and what happens when they do that is that you lose weight information (weight information is the rigg).
So we end up trying to create FOR a mesh body with a kit for that mesh body that is intentionally fucked up and doesn`t have an accurate rigg to the actual thing. It is horrible when you think of what is going on here, you`re basically a slave to that creator because if you don`t create for that body, you`re not on the customer radar and so we have to go through the same torture over and over in order to have a decent rigg and consequently have any sales.
Now multiply this torture by the amount of bodies people want you to create for. For me and my brand I will only carry maitreya sizes, not because I `hate` the curvy b odies but because it is the most used body and I can`t afford torturing myself with other kits and losing my time with that.
There are many people out there who purchased the Maitreya body when it was first released, but moved on to the curvier bodies that came out after like the Belleza Freya or Slink Hourglass. (I know there are many other bodies out there.)
I own the Maitreya on three different alts, but two out of the three have switched to Slink Hourglass and Belleza Freya.
As a Maitreya body owner I have chosen not to patronize creators who don’t offer options for the big three.
I’m not whining. I’m not bitching. I’m taking my money elsewhere.

I don’t personally understand the majority of the secrets here. Nor for the matter do I care. However, the 10th irks me for some reason. At the end of the day, these creators are taking their time to work in sl to sell items for as little as 50 cents (in rl comparison) an object. Don’t like that they don’t make an item for another body other than Maitreya? Then you try to make something for your body. You can always give nice feedback and suggestions, but I keep noticing a trend of annoying whines. And yes, I’m calling the people that have these bodies whiners. If approximately 60% of the market is Maitreya then fundamentally they will create for Maitreya. Were you bitching in rl when companies stopped making cassette playing radios but you had a bunch of cassettes? Oh wait you probably are a young one that is too immature to remember similar scenarios in rl and you had to deal with it. So move on. And by the way, I have a Maitreya body and yet I’ve bought clothes that fit Slink and have been able to manage with that or system rigged clothes. So I guess I’m a beanpole (though my avatar looks like a pretty descent size 6-8 in rl).
I’m not so pissed about store or event releases that only rig for basic ass Maitreya- they don’t care about my business so I can give my money to people who do, and suggest stores that do to others as well(including Maitreya users. Stores that ignore me are completely ignored by me, period)- but I’m fucking done with people allowing creators who neglect damn near half the market into their subscription boxes. It’s one thing to have the items be a surprise, and quite another entirely to find out half of what you paid for goes directly in the trash.
The luxe box has a list of designers on it’s website so you can actually get out there and look into it and see what bodies the designers make clothes for. I know Foxes does more for Maitreya and sometimes for other bodies though. It’s really not that hard to do a little homework to see before you buy into it. Then again it’s easier just to bitch about it I guess.

I have to say the bringing it to flicker and facebook has done some good. David has agreed to remove the copybotted material and redo his stuff. The original creators get their stuff removed from his store (hoping that’s the real case and he’s not just trying to hide it better) and David can save face by pretending that he had no idea that it was copybotted. He won’t even give proof that he bought the template and pretends to not remember. Wish he would of showed it if it actually existed so the original creators can get it removed from marketplace if it was really there.

You do not have to have a lawyer to file a DMCA. LL offers a walk through with idiot proof guidelines of what must be included in the request. When I have filed my DMCA takedowns to LL, I have typed up a short document that includes these exact steps: ” Identify in sufficient detail the copyrighted work that you believe has been infringed upon (i.e., describe the work that you own). Identify the in-world item that you claim is infringing on your copyright, and provide information reasonably sufficient to locate the item in-world. Good to know. Wonder what other designer would move a finger in case she steps in our shoes and finds herself in the same situation after that comment. #9 I see girls that have eyebrows like that in RL all the time and I just don’t get it, but it is actually a thing… so…. I’d day good job whoever made those eyebrows in SL. They look realistic and I would be more inclined to make fun of that dumb looking hair base she has on.
