#1- who cares, i can name off a bunch of designers who pull their stuff ideas off of Pinterest, etsy , wish, zuilily and more. Big name designers. U see designers copying the same pattern , example, look at kawaii project. Not saying bad, but how many did the same type of swimsuit just designed with their own texturing. I had a designer copy an exact design of my own original mesh and they snobbed off to me saying ‘i meshed it, so it’s mine” when I was nice about to say collaboration but instead they were selling it full perm when I had one full perm too. There are people who are going to copy rl stuff no.matter what, or even put their own spin to it. If you have such a big problem about it, contact the company who they copied and show them. Zenith had it happen to them over a Halloween figurine. Instead of just complaining about something and u want real justice go that extra mile and stop being lazy and tell the original creator if it bothers you so much. I like spending my money on affordable fake items in world for roleplay. Vincue made adorable cat gloves I fell in love with in sl that I found the pattern they uses off of wish. I bought the gloves for rl. It’s like vincue just advertised who really did make it and they made money off me because I liked it alot. Same for zenith I bought sweaters in rl because I loved the sl pattern so much I needed it for rl. I find the copying banter on sl secrets useless unless u plan on contacting the companies themselves.
Exactly! And lets be honest most of the time SL is mirroring RL, so of course thee are copies. Like seriously, most of the RL desginers don’t give a fuck and are not even in SL to seel it there but some people want it there. I don’t get why people are always so stuck up about that thing. You can’t compare SL and Rl to 100% anyways, its not like Sl would be that relevant for Rl at all.
tbh it is comparable because the creators get paid REAL money while slacking in the creativity department whilst simply copying (RL copy-botting?) existing designs somebody else created. There is no difference, except perhaps the mesh creating part; which still gives them no right to call it an exclusive design. Exclusive mesh, sure, but nothing more. if these so called designers did not get paid for it, if this was for pure entertainment/freebie dress-up play, I would not have any problems with any of it.
I remember #Foxy getting hit by PR of the company she copied 100% boys tears phone cases from. They commented on her Flickr photo and confirmed further legal action. What happened is the photo no longer exists, naturally.
People copying original designs and getting paid, while complaining about being copied in SL. The irony is strong.
Verinne, babe, we get it. You got copied. You got copybotted. It’s wrong. We understand. But do you, in turn, understand this kind of thing has happened to so many people in Second Life? People much more relevant? I see it happen daily and its pretty sickening. But I don’t see those other people (certain creators and bloggers) who are getting copied and copybotted, going all over Second Life social media trying to make people aware. And these particular people actually get copied by dozens of people, and have others copybotting and putting their shapes on sites like Kinggoon or on the SL Marketplace. Getting their creations stolen and sold. Their shapes and whatever else sold when that is their real life income. You know, actual problems.
So yes, we get it. And it is sad. And I’m being sassy, I know, but I’m not trying to be mean. I’m trying to give you a reality check. Why? Because this is painful to watch. You’ve made yourself look a little pathetic over the past weeks and it is making me cringe, honestly, to think you really care this much about a person looking like your Second Life avatar. Especially when you’re not losing anything over it. Please make us aware if you are, in fact, losing money or anything else over this. Please do educate us all on why we all need to be so extremely aware of this happening to you.
Oh actually there was a house builder who wore it like a badge of honour. I kid you not, every opportunity she got, blogs, slu, her blog, flickr her inworld group and she even got this site to post articles on her getting botted. She loved to broadcast it, she was proud of it. What she failed to get was peeps didn’t think her houses was worth 30,000 lindens (thats thousand lindens), so they just took them.

1) Asteroidbox does the same thing. I only found out because I saw she deleted a comment on one of her flickr photos about it – The 3 eyed cat phone case she just released is by a brand called Valfre and that’s not the only thing she steals.
TBH I don’t care if people make copies of rl but they should really credit who they have taken the idea off or it is essentially stealing to make a profit and that’s no better than copybotting.
As for #5 yes poor taste, sad and shitty but it has nothing to do with Orlando ffs. But i agree take it down. Don’t promote that shit man

#10. Edge of Ro is an awesome RP sim. Unlike most RP sims where the owners are not snobbish and the owners of EoR are always role-playing with everyone! Not to mention constantly working to make a great role-play sim. EoR has Active story-lines, immersive world, brilliant para-flexible OPEN-MINDED role-players. Always busy!
