Before we delve into secrets…
• If you hook up with a crazy in SL, it is not our responsibility to help you deal with that. If it becomes a RL issue contact law enforcement.
• Trust no one. If you tell people your laundry they will air it for you.
• Secret submissions are anonymous. We don’t know if your crazy ex or your abuela submitted them.
• Make your secrets legible.
• Do not contact us just to threaten us, especially with e-lawyers. We’ve been doing this for 12+ years. You are not the first nor will you be the last.
• Lastly, if the material submitted here triggers you, please get help. If the materials submitted here make you suicidal please see the suicide hotline numbers posted. They are there to help.

I think we should talk about how Sands is suddenly popular now that he’s a creator. Has everyone forgotten that he’s racist, sexist, and cared not a bit about insulting and shaming people until he needed to be nice to get himself into events?

He hasn’t changed at all. He is just nice in public so he can make sales. And now the community embraces him with open arms. SL people are such sell outs. We’ll support a racist, fat shaming sexist who spent YEARS insulting and creating drama, e-fucking best friends behind their backs cause he thought it was hot, and bragged about being an asshole. But now he has things to give to bloggers for free, so we’re willing to sweep all that under the rug.

Where is this fat shaming racist content, back up your accusations otherwise I’ll assume you’re just another insecure competitor on a witch hunt.

Just a suggestion: Instead of complaining on sites like this about ripped content, try contacting the organizers of any event you see the stuff in. Twisted Hunt organizers punt people for stealing content, but like all other organizers, we can’t catch everything, and sometimes need to rely on folks letting us know. Thanks.

Your comments are as safe here as they are anywhere you post on the internet – The best anyone can do with your IP Address is maybe get the city you are in or a nearby city. Your ISP protects your physical location and privacy and goes to great lengths to do that.

ISPs will cough up data with a court order. They really don’t give a f*** about your privacy directly, they comply with the law and that’s it.

Webmasters can draw information from multiple data/information points from people who post (you should see the analytics that come at the backend of websites) so it becomes possible to identify trends / behavior / same person using multiple names even when using an IP spoofer. But you have to ask yourself why they would bother, the more comments and split personalities the better imho!

OMG I worked for 7 years for Absolute Software (Computrace, Lojack). Do you know how hard it is to get a court order to submit to an ISP? Even with a s simple laptop theft, the police will not just step in and approach a DA willy nilly! They need a WIIFM besides picking up a laptop!

If Kess or Lourdes were to approach a DA and say “I need a court order to submit to an ISP for info because someone posted comments on our website about a virtual world hair designer”, the DA would probably have them committed. LOL.

I am laughing so hard.

When people can’t debate, or freak out over discourse they type so angrily the other is a “troll”.

Then they try to twist what they typed the words are all above to reiterate their point in the vain hope by bashing their oh so valid point under poorly formed behavior it will change the others mind. It doesn’t as they don’t have the ability to put forward any counter point with the intellect it requires.

You misunderstood it’s ok, nothing to be ashamed of Katie.

In reality what you meant to type is it’s not the ISP that’s are protecting our privacy, it’s the judges who restrict the court orders in the first place. You’ll see some excellent case studies around the fourth amendment and how a case where a judge felt probable cause did not have to be proved before issuing an order, how it went through multiple circuits and helped create law that does help many individuals with privacy these dates including taps on phones.

And “Whatever” you are a known quantity on this sit and you have no legitimacy after being publicly outed for stalking and stealing. So if you want to debate me, please feel free. I don’t accept emotional vomiting so stick to facts and cite your sources.

Thanks!

LOL speak for yourself with your own words Jollybean” When people can’t debate, or freak out over discourse they type so angrily the other is a “troll”. By your own definition you can’t debate.

Also the fourth amendment is American, there is actually other countries once you get by the boarders or when you crawl out of grandma’s basement there are things called planes, which take you to far away places where the “4th amendment” doesn’t mean jack shit to anyone.

@ whatever – you are commenting on an American hosted site.

So are you saying because I brought up an American point of view on an American hosted website, I live in a basement and don’t have a world view?

That’s rather xenophobic of you. I am of Indian heritage, but born in America. Where were you born, I worry about their education standards if it leads you to behave like this on a public site.

You state my own definition applies to my debate, really? How so, what examples in my words above actually make what you say true? Or is it just emotional anger you display so often here leading you to misspeak again?

I have also gotten information with valid reasons, similar to you Kesseret my American Express was used at a company to order some random goods from Target in LA to an address. Not only did I get the IP address I also got the delivery address.

On the same token, I know Verizon are notoriously bad for cooperating with court orders some will come down to how good the lawyer is, what mood the judge is in, and whether anybody really wants to test case law.

I very much doubt anybody will ever want your IP address “Whatever”. I am sure you have nothing to hide so don’t worry and stop getting upset over a website comment please dear.

I get what you are saying. And officially, it is the judges and the law that protects us, not the ISPs.

However it is fairly common for the people in charge of ISP networks to not give out any information if they can get away with it. Even with a warrant the ISPs can be not-cooperative. Google around how difficult it was to get that court ordered information from Linden Lab during a specific court case that is very popular.

On the other hand, about 10 years ago my bankcard was used to purchase a mac.com account and the Network Security guy at Apple took pity on me and gave me the IP information.

I guess it depends on who and how you talk to someone as a consumer. But if you walk in as law enforcement they will always demand a search warrant.

Name 3multiple data/information points? We ALL know email addy and IP addy are recorded, we all know regions/counties and sometimes searchs but what else? and this “it becomes possible to identify trends / behavior / same person using multiple names even when using an IP spoofer” is no more than guess work

They won’t cough it up that easily. Doing so, at the whim of anyone requesting, would result in thousands of lawsuits and possibly physical danger for those being stalked or sought after. There would need to be substantiated evidence of internet fraud and criminal activity before it even began moving in that direction.
I don’t really get a criminal feel from this website but if anyone decides to have a go at tracking someone to find out if Internet Service Providers will roll over for anyone and hand out names and addresses, let us know how you fare.

Cough up what so easily? Your post makes no sense as a response? Did you even read mine as nobody said cough it up to some random idiot.

Mostly you have to have a court order for disclosure. Here in the US we utilize 18 U.S.C. § 2703 so the court order has to have substantive purpose. Nothing on SL Secrets meets that test that I have ever read so don’t know what all the fuss is about about them having your IP (spoofed or not) address. My point about web masters is if you really want to track behavior you can and you can tie actions together but in reality we mostly use that for understanding site / person interaction not to say oh BOB is really SUE OMG.

Perhaps you should go back and read what you typed and then you can see what is being “coughed up”. Also reading the entire thread will give you better perspective.

Oh dear, let me break it down into a more simple form for you.

Me – “ISPs will cough up data with a court order.”
You – “They won’t cough it up that easily.”

Your comment basically is saying ISPs won’t provide data upon receipt of a court order. I have never seen one case reported where an ISP has become in contempt of court. They simply hand it over and comply with the law. Why would they put themselves out for some idiot’s email or web postings.

If you still don’t understand, please do post examples please where an ISP has been in contempt of court by defying a court order – as I can’t find a single case. But you clearly seem to think differently so based on what evidence exactly, or are you just talking out of your ass.

Oh dear… Let’s try this again: My comment to you does not say ISP’s won’t provide data upon receipt of a court order – Reread my comment (as I have already suggested) It says they won’t cough it up that EASILY… and they won’t. It requires court orders and substantiated evidence of wrong doing (as I stated.) You really need to read – You are going off about ISP’s being in contempt of court… I am talking about customers bringing lawsuits against ISP’s for handing out their personal information to anyone asking… There aren’t any because our ISP’s don’t do that. If you still don’t understand… 🙂

Correct Katie, to even get a court order for it you would need to have substantiated evidence of wrong doing, and not just any old wrong doing either, it would have to be criminal wrong doing with cast-iron evidence. ISP’s don’t hand out info ever, I’ve seen one dreamer try to pull that one, it’s just empty threats and attempts to bully. Without a very hard to come-by court order you will get nawt.

Jollybean is just trying to scare off trolls, he’s taking aim and missing lol
