#1 kind of reminds me of a website I saw once where someone wrote a bunch of companies letters saying they liked their products and wondering if they could have a free item. At least half of the companies wrote back and sent something, even if it was just coupons or a keychain.

I think the money should be shared with the original RL creators though, that is why royalties IRL exist, but law in SL does not. If I saw something I sold IRL being re-sold in SL I would fight for my rights

Copying ideas exactly from RL may be unoriginal, but it’s hardly illegal, except in rare cases where a design gets patented. In fact, you see it happen in RL all the time. Walmart, Target and plenty of other stores of the kind carry knock off versions of big name purses. The difference is, no logo.
Styles get copied. Sometimes exactly. Sometimes intentionally and sometimes by accident.
The problem is with copybotting and IP theft. Pretty damn sure this does not qualify as IP theft unless the original designer has protected the design somehow. And since I’ve seen this style of shoe (with various tweaks) many times over the years from different brands, I doubt it has been patented.
Sigh, it’s all very simple people. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it and then move on with your life.
Stop bitching and moaning. It’s not helping you, nor anyone else. If you’re feeling that chip on your shoulder, perhaps it’s time to get out of that overly comfortable chair, lay down the cheesy poofs, dust off the crumbs on your shirt and go and get some actual real sunlight. Try it, you may just start feeling better about yourself and you might actually gain a little perspective and see that all these things that you seem to think are so important, are in fact so petty and insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

#6 Thank you for submitting this secret. I was wondering if the owner/organizers are blind. They never fit to any event’s theme they are taking part in. How can they still be part of all the events? I am so sick of this creator making latex or whatever they make for EVERY F**KING EVENTS. And I am sure there would be more customers feel the same way. Please event people, kick them off for god’s sake. There are so many designers doing better than this.
Ooooookay wait a minute here….hold up! I have been to C88. Have you? Did you notice the empty “stalls”? As in the spaces they DIDN’T manage to fill with a designer? So, you see…they have space for these way better designers you speak of. It’s not like this admittedly crappy designer is holding up a space and preventing a better designer from being there. Just put your big girl (or big boy) panties on and cam away from this designer. Yes, they make the same sh*t every month. Yes, it never fits the theme. Yes, it’s poorly made. Ignore it and move on with your life. I feel lame for even responding to this, but I have already typed it so I might as well post it.
I think you got me wrong. I am sorry to confuse you with my last sentence. I did NOT mean ‘better designer’ as those ones already in the event. I don’t think they are only designers in whole SL. Those empty/belated stalls bother me as much as the one posted here.
What about to accept NEW designers to fill the spaces and replace crappy ones? New designers who are willing to contribute proper item (and also in time) for the event they are in.
C88 is a big event. Every month I have to wait for few days trying to tp in, which means there are lots of customers eagerly visiting there. If I were a shop owner/designer, I would be dying to be part of the event. If the owner/organizer send out notice to the group looking for new participants, there will be a lot of creators apply.
Of course this is just my opinion and there might be variety of rules about who can be in for each events. The decisions are up to the event owner/organizers.

i’ve purchased items off of etsy simply for the novelty of having clothing/accessories on both my SL avatar and my RL body. seriously, EVERY designer uses real life products as inspiration. this includes truth hair (who even posts his reference pics on flickr), this includes furniture and home decor shops, and of course, this includes shit tons of clothing, shoes, accessories, blah blah blah. TSG just has enough of a loyal following to have a few enthusiastic haters as well. that’s it.

#3 It’s a known fact that TSG is a copycat. Usually I’m able to tell what she copied just by looking or google-fu; I didn’t know where these shoes came from, but there you go… I lol’d hard at her unicorn necklace, it is a failed attempt at copying Cute Can Kill Dreamy Crystal Pegasus. Hers ended up all wonky and derpy.
She says she is just inspired but it’s all a blatant copy. She used to be worse, and slap the logo straight from the original store on the items.
She also takes her “inspiration” from other SL sellers.
Some of the biggest designers in SL “borrow” from RL. Trompe, Floor Plan, Cheeky Pea, Fri.Day, just to name a few. I can’t tell you how many times I have come across an image on Tumblr and went, “Duh! So THAT’S where they got the idea.” I’m not sure it’s actually ripping off as much as a lack of creativity but even the best designers need a little help from time to time. It’s exhausting coming up with original ideas all the time.
Not sure what point you’re trying to make here, Cute can kill rips their pegasus designs from Angelic Pretty prints; almost going as far as to trace them before creating them. They all rip off each other.
If you are seriously trying to blame Eilfie for making a replica of a replica of a replica then maybe we should start suing Automatic Honey, Cute Can Kill and all the other Etsy designers who get their inspiration from AP and Sanrio.
As for the replica debate in SL.. Should we not be pointing fingers at the designers who take designs from small, independent designers on etsy? Isn’t it kind of disgusting to see a big SL designer earn more than the RL designer? Never seen TSG do that; but I HAVE seen other brands do it.
Pretty sure most of the shoes TSG has used as inspiration have already been replicated to the ends of the earth and are on Taobao by now; that’s why you see them so much on Tumblr.

It’s not okay to rip, doesn’t matter where your source is from. SL allows plenty of creativity. Why make a replica? I don’t see another reason other than to make money of popular designs.
I was trying to make the point that everybody inside and outside of SL does this. Why are you targeting TSG when other designers are clearly ripping off the less successful?
I’m not the one who posted the secret. But TSG is a shop I occasionally see around because I’m into the ‘kawaii’ trend, I always stumble upon her products. She always -always- make replicas, it’s hard for me not to notice, it’s always an insta-recognizable RL product/persona. I don’t know about other shops that make BLATANT copies, maybe subtle ones I do, or they are crappy shops fading into oblivion. But feel free to name and shame others.
One example, the sailor moon fair, lots of things were inspired (color schemes, schoolgirl clothes, unicorn/stars theme, etc). TSG made replica wands altering minor details and claims they were just “inspired”. She doesn’t even admit they are copies, with no creativity put into them at all. There are others, yes, but TSG already passes the image of “replica” to me whenever I see it, and it’s everywhere (fairs, events, blogs).
Yes. Let’s go and pick at something at a sailor moon fair. Pretty sure it was more than just her, and pretty sure not all designers plastered “inspired by sailor moon” on their products. What a stupid example to use. So what if she recreates things in sl? She’s very skilled in mesh. What she does with that talent is her business. If you want more original content then make it.

And if she did commit suicide instead of passing away in the way the family reported….well, I don’t believe it would be simply due to you being a RL woman. There would have to be way more going on there to push her to leave her RL family. I know that won’t help your guilt, but I don’t think you caused her death and to be honest I still believe the family. I don’t believe she committed suicide.
