The collabor88 thing……
i don’t think people are complaining about the designers wanting to make money but, when the event first began, it was true that the prices were taken as an introductory price. 88/188.
then full price at the store at the end of the event.
none of the items are “exclusive”.. they all go right to the store afterwards.
i agree, i miss the introductory prices.. it was what made me go to the event and buy almost everything.
it is how i found stores like hucci or, even clawtooth…
nowadays, i have to look at sites like seraphim, pick and choose one or two things and, that is it.
i believe if the event had not changed it’s pricing theme, more ppl would have gone.
people are going to shop regardless but, designers that have been there since the start and, have increased their prices, must see a huge profit decline since the change.
i agree, the prices are too much now. and you can bitch at me all you want, it will not change my opinion or those of others here.

The only thing that has decreased is the number of cheapie hunters that want good quality items for close to nothing. I don’t think any of the stores saw a profit decrease. Some items are still discounted just not enough for the cheapie hunters. That’s fine that’s less people trying to get in the first week. Which BTW is still difficult even though “more people don’t go”.
There are plenty of cheapie events out there C88 is not one of them.

Ranting pet hater aside lol, there is a point that events are at the point where organizers have creators well the popular ones all together. Mainstore no more.
If people are really tired of events it’s too late the old days are gone. If you dont want events you need to invent something new that will beat them. My lazy ass hates marketplace and trawling through stupid stores that are too big and badly laid out. Give me something new to beat that.
Only a few stores in collabor88 follow the theme and about the price these event start whit 88 L and 188 It was the most expensive t and was an event where people went for deals that its the reason for events at first but now events , and more events and all realese are in events , and i know its a hard work to make a product , its take alot of time but events are for deals!!!! but now its just for realese and these its killing evetrhing!! no one go to the mainstore and what about marketplace? omg that shit i think nobody used it anymore The worst part…its no about the price , its about monotony , and its start whit the chapter four , and yeah.. all people go there and buy …. and dont forget!!! pets!! all people whit the same fucking pet every mont, then collabor88 and you have cloth , then kustom and the same … so you buy a dress and omg!!! all the fucking people whit the same fucking dress! and dont forget your fucking pet 2,.. its like fucking robots all people dressing whit the same stuffs because its the new!!! no more products because the stores only do for that event and what its the point???? spend money for dressing like all people? i dont like buy for that reason i miss old days when you can make your own style . when you to the mainstore or markeplace and try to match colours and make your outfit where you can be origianl… now omg its theme halloween, and allll products are halloween that its new , that its the only product that you willl see.. theme purrple and all people for one week will in some… Read more »

I hardly ever post on plurk but am blocked by at least two people I have never even interacted with (and wouldn’t want to, as one of them is a con artist and the other supports texture thieves). My best guess is that it’s because I comment on here.
The secret about the plurk blocking is so true. I am not the person who posted this but I always find it funny to find out some unknown person to me blocked me, particularly because I so rarely post in plurk. To me, its like some sort of virtual power play that for one instance in their life makes them feel superior to someone they don’t know at all or probably will never interact with again even if they didn’t block them. But, whatever floats their boat!
Delusional? No. Realistic. Yes. Second Life is filled with insecure, overly emotional drama queens who freak out at the drop of a hat. The couple of times I have found out I was blocked is I see some random person in a friend’s plurk with some sort of anonymous type name making some typically plurk like overly emo, dramatic statement. When I clicked on to find out who they were I get the lovely “blocked” announcement. Being a naturally curious person, I log out to see who they are in SL and haven’t a clue who they are or if I have ever even interacted with them. Of course, I laugh about and go on about my day. I couldn’t even tell you their names now, because in all honesty it really meant nothing to me.
There are some really great people in SL but sadly twits rule the show in so many ways lol.
I never block anyone. I find it pointless. (unless theres actual RL threats involved) Example, me and person A dislike each other. I could block… but then see conversations where others reply’s make no sense, or I could keep my big girl panties on and see the whole convo and just not reply to the person I don’t like. If person A turns out to be an idiot and tries to start crap…. its called “ignoring them”. Its not hard. If its that bad, click the X.
I’ve always seen blocking as childish in a way. That whole “neener neener you cant see my stuff” play – like their ego is so big that they feel some of us give that much of a shit to keep stalking a boring timeline.
This is the dumbest shit I’ve ever read. Power play? You are kidding yourself. If I block you, it’s because I don’t wanna see the dumb ass shit you have to say, anywhere, for any reason. If you wanna read what *I* have to say after that, that’s your problem. It’s not a POWER play, it’s a fuck-off-outta-my-sight play. You’re just delusional.

No, I have a few individuals blocked in SL, my FB, Twitter and therefore also on Plurk, as I simply do not wish to have them on my timelines. I do not give a crap if they take the effort to look at what I post and where, I just took away the options to see them on my walls/feed/TL. For me they do not exist, I never bother to look them up.
Has nothing to do with powerplay nor with feeling superior.

Collab 88 has become stupidly expensive since its opening when things were priced reasonable at 88 and 188. Are we really surprised that some of the trash we see in this event as well doesn’t follow the theme of the month. Some of us don’t bother to spend our money at this event anymore either. I speak for a group of us that are just disgusted with all the events and more events that happen every month. They have ruined the second life shopping experience as a whole because no one releases to a main store location anymore.

488 L$ (2 dollars… jesus!) is super cheap for an animated sofa compared to the time that had gone into creating it, assembling it, animating it. I’m a creator and I really don’t make animated things anymore, as it doesn’t pay properly for the time it takes to make, unless I would be charging ‘Dutchie’ prices.
Some of us creators has to live, and work to eat, and we can’t be making great stuff and use our time on stuff that doesn’t pay.
Yeah we are bitching about less than a dollar because trash like Flowey is included in Collab 88, the above mentioned secret is included, and tons of other trash from a few other stores we would never buy. Quite frankly we all work hard for our real life money and we don’t want to spend it on total shit that isn’t even that great. Sorry to the original poster you brought the topic up and we decided to make a comment. Trash is Trash and we won’t waste our money on it anymore. Pretty sure the possibility of more than a few people feel this way.

Firstly, the secret, I agree with that. The organizers should replace them as it’s getting stupid. So this round I looked through the catalog.
I would say all but 2 were on theme. So that’s good.
The prices ranged from a great bargain, fashion and accessories for 88L to the other end of the scale and HOLY FUCK. One sofa is up for 488L and that was more than most other items. But for the main all were heavily discounted and I could get mesh dresses, decor and full homes for 188L which to me is a huge bargain.
I find the prices at Collabor88 some of the most reasonable of any of the events. Yeah, you’re not getting everything for only 88 L$ anymore, but seriously…do some comparison shopping. C88 is amazingly reasonable when you take a good look at what you get for the price.
That being said, #3 speaks to me. This store releases some of the weirdest shit that has NOTHING to do with the monthly themes. While I’ve purchased a few of their things, I’d be more than happy to see their spot at C88 handed over to a guest designer that actually pays attention to the monthly theme.
Okay, so let me get this straight. You used to like Collab, back when the prices were overall cheaper, but now that some designers *gasp* want to make money for their hard work, you are anti-Collab and, oh yeah, events are killing the SL shopping experience? Did I get that right? Because it sounds like you’d be fine with the events if you were getting things for cheap, but you don’t want to pay full price, which, btw, almost NONE of the Collab stores charge full price. You’re still getting a discount, albeit in some cases a smaller one. Which kind of contradicts your claim that events are killing the shopping experience, since prior to discount events like Fifty Linden Fridays, you were expect to *gasp again* pay full price. I am so tired of people expecting designers to work for free in SL. Hours and hours go into creations. If you don’t like the price, don’t buy it. End of story. You hate events so much? Go shop in mainstores. Organize a Mainstore shopping party. Wait until event releases go to the mainstores to buy them, even if it means paying full price. Trust me, designers will be grateful of that. I still love Collab. I wrote this secret because this one store is never, ever on theme. And this particular round it was just like, wait. What the hell. Oh, actually they were on theme during the space themed round, but that was likely just a coincidence because their stuff has a sort of 60s sci-fi feel to it. It actually happens to be well made stuff… it’s just NEVER themed accordingly. I have some ppl blocked simply because I do not wish to interact with them. I do not care if they can see my timeline, they just cannot respond to it and are out of my sight. That is enough for me. I don’t need to set my timeline to private, because that would then exclude a lot of others – who are maybe not my ‘friends’. I have nothing to hide anyway on my timeline. I am just shutting out some individuals for personal reasons. Let them read, if they want. I don’t care. Maybe I am blocked too, by some, so be it.

Blocking has multiple benefits, even on a public timeline. You don’t have to see what the other person says anymore, which comes in handy when you’ve had *enough* of that person. They can’t comment on your posts. They can’t see what you say in other people’s Plurks.
Nothing anyone says on Plurk is private. If you think that, you’re deluding yourself. Gyazo, Grabilla and the like have made it super easy to share Plurks even on private timelines, and anyone interested in knowing what you’re saying can find out through mutual friends or other means, if they’re that motivated.
So really, blocking someone is not about hiding what you Plurk from said someone. It’s more of a “fuck off.” And if nothing else, if you have to log out to look? That’s inconveniencing you. If you actually care enough to do that regularly, it’s definitely kind of stalkerish.
