Welcome to SLsecret, week 327.
I just found a blog piece on it, Salome Strangelove covered part of it. I have pasted the parts that seem to reference Arcade scripts – these are Salome’s words (not mine):
Tegan Serin, owner of Floorplan, first Plurks that Isla has stolen fabric textures herself and has no room to go after Apple Fall. She then Plurks that she has gotten a text threat from Isla. It reads:
Amanda. I know about the arcade scripts. Thomas showed me and I have proof. I know your alt got all the rates only. Stop this witch hunt. Now. I know you use shit from etsy bc you showed me how. So stop. Before I tell everyone. So far I’ve told no one. Piss me off and see. Delete your plurk or I’ll put one out there of my own.
Colleen Desmoulins, owner of The Loft, asks what is going on and in her (now hidden) Plurk; comedy and cat-fights ensue. Jezibell Thorne (co-owner of C88 and Apple Fall’s public relations / customer service partner) ignored Apple’s infractions and went after Isla. Voshie Paine (Enchantment) hilariously tried to assert some moral authority and Octagons “Pizza” Yazimoto (The Arcade) spent time trying to kill any notion of wrongdoing by The Arcade. The usual fanboi types rah-rahed their two cents. Isla Gealach was accused of copyright violation on some of the fabrics of her pieces as if that negates everything else under discussion. The group also demanded Isla provide “proof” of the Arcade script accusation, even though it was Tegan that made that public.
So they are still moaning about unproven allegations from …what a year ago,Just wow. The scripts have been changed since then so might want to pack that rant in and move along.
That was my point, that’s the only other reference a google search brought up. So perhaps it is possible somebody with a grudge wrote the information above against the organizers and by extension the creators who were removed. I think they are using the cover of the situation with the merchants who were kicked out to raise it again. I think the script is a red herring.
So I think it’s a non issue personally.
But no proof has ever been shown, and this was what 9-12 months ago, and the scripts have changed sinse then.
@ Lemon, I don’t think that was Indigo, the allegations, except the uvmaps, are others posting. He seems most focused on the Loft being ejected and seems just like an upset fan to me.
I am not posting anon, I don’t see any need. The scripts I vaguely remember something about this before. It was an argument between two creators, I think one was Cheeky Pee, and the other Floorplan. Phone text drama occurred, and in one I seem to remember it was alleged that one of those creators had found out something about the scripts, and the scripter was somehow involved too. I really can’t remember the details, but I think that is what is being referenced and Cheeky Pee never came up with the data as far as I remember.
I am glad Foxy is still in the event, that shows to me the organizers perhaps learnt their lesson from earlier this week and realized an error is an error and a well rounded, talented creator should not be punished where it would affect the event. And removing a great gacha during the event would have caused that. This gives me more hope. I hope they take the other feedback (through the other rants!) posted on board too. Having a set up a day earlier then a day buffer between walkthrough for creator error resolution might be a simpler solution for all.
Also Foxy say they are invited 3 months in advance, that’s also good to hear creators get a full three months notice of their invite. Foxy have you already been invited to the March round? I am a big fan 🙂
People being treated differently than the owners buddies is the only problem I have.
Hey, no. They wont do invites until the 11th (usually) of the month of the closing round. So I guess Jan? We can always hope. This round was nerve racking, group eject, bite nails, wait for invite, hold breath, rinse repeat. I love arcade though. Thank you for the support 🙂
Interesting you say that, seeing as Ewan Mureaux, the guy who scripted the gacha scripts was, last I heard, shacked up with Isla.
Circle of Friend Stores…
Since when is logic ass kissing? At least I don’t feel the need to hide behind an anon name.
Circle of friends stores, I cant think of one event that has gone off perfectly. You can sit there and throw your anger my way, and thats totally fine, I can take it. But it wont change the fact that things just arent going to be perfect. Arcade is pretty unbiased, so much so that every designer, including myself and Nina, get an over whelming sense of anxiety as the due date looms near. Its as big to us as it is anyone. We pay a to join, and have to follow a very strict guide of rules. I think its easy to throw out the favoritism card when you are on the other side looking in. But it isnt fair to those involved who all are biding by the same rules. As i mentioned in another response, they’ve had friends get benched because of the late rule. Its just what happens. Yes machines hiccup, ours isnt the first, it wont be the last. But pushing to the point of the very last second of deadline, is where the problems creep in. Does it make the designer who had to sit any less good than those who stayed in? no of course not. But it wouldnt be fair, to say “oh you are fine” after the 11:59 dead line on the 27th. So they hold everyone to the same standard. All of us, friend or peer. When people are angry they go for the gut, they try to point fingers. I cant figure out why people are angry though. A lot of stores offered free gifts just for going to arcade, pretty sure it just takes showing up to unwrap gifts under the tree. I think thats a pretty big thank you. They are currently maintaining i think its, 3… Read more »
Oh, was I supposed to rage? Here I was just like, quietly eating a sandwich and having a pretty good afternoon making scarves. ♥
Foxes also known as Tyr
1 Question for the trolls please.
How many business partners have you had in your Second Life that you have used and left behind when someone better comes along.
I’m also not a designer simple a poor consumer that is tired of businesses over charging for trash they make in an hour.
You can rage to that little question why I find someone better else to troll.
And also sorry one more thing @ Foxes, let’s not cast more “allegations” either. As fellow creator, that only harms other creators. I think leading by example, is a far better approach.
@Foxes, I don’t think circle of stores has ever been in the Arcade. No offense to them, but reading all the comments they have made it more reads like somebody very frustrated at the quality of some of the content versus a genuine beef directly. of being a creator in the event I think they have a right to their opinions, I don’t agree with them (but I think they have the right to them).
Knowing who some of the individuals are who aren’t in, I think from everything I have seen publicly, historically over the many years in SL – ranting on a website is not even close. I think most of them are probably far too busy preparing for the next round of events and releases.
That’s one thing I have always noticed about the decent hardworking creators, they don’t waste time, but remain focused on their work. I think the Arcade organizers did the right thing by you, and I know and hope they will further improve their approach based on experiences each round.
Now can somebody please TP out I am still trying to get in!! 🙂
The owners friends have had to be a few of those that have had to sit do to time I know a few others landed in the same boat. But it doesn’t mean you are KICKED OUT FOREVER. Generally you have to sit out a round. Point is? Everyone gets treated the same, if you are NOT there by 11:59 on the 28th (27th on some months), fully set up and ready to pay and be inspected, then yeah you lose your spot. Starting to wonder if circle of friends is butt hurt store who managed time poorly.
Indigo…
I’m just a person who was accused of kissing ass because I made a generalized comment on why it’s a bad idea to assume things about people you don’t know.
As for anyone being called out, so far all we’ve seen are allegations of shady scripts and NO PROOF.
If creators were booted because they didn’t comply with the time table or rules set out by the organizers all that shows is that the organizers are enforcing their rules. It doesn’t prove any type of favoritism, if anything it proves the exact opposite.
As for what ANY event organizers do in their spare time… I have no idea because I don’t know them, for all I know they dance around a fire at midnight while slowly roasting kittens. That is their business. But you keep trying to shove serious unproven allegations down peoples throats, it doesn’t make anyone believe them.
Wtf are you talking about Lemon. The Organizers have to the most part been called our for their actions not whether they basket weave at night and donate the money to 3 legged kittens charities. Actions speak louder than words, their actions were shitty behavior. Who is Lemon in world out of interest?
I wonder why Foxes/birdy is still there, i mean having a machine where are the rares in all sizes (except L ) are missing, and no one is gonna do a fix…
Well played Foxes/Birdy
People contacted nina and she wasnt on, as ive already mentioned, no one contacted me. Jenkel and mari both told me they contacted her. Not one person messaged me. The first notice I got of it was 1:30 in the morning on the 2nd, to which I jumped to action and tried to get nina to wake up, and asked Jenkel to put a sign over the machine. I couldn’t return it, and I couldn’t turn off the scripts because I couldn’t get onto the sim. So no, I’m not lying, 2 of us are part of the store, one was contacted and not on, the other didn’t get messaged. I get that its confusing so I dont blame anyone for that, but had someone (even officially) messaged both of us, it would have been taken care of hours before. We have 2 people trying to do 1 thing, and things get screwed up, thats on us and I cant blame anyone for that but us. But to say its cheating is sort of mind blowing. If you want a fix to an item, you send an NC, with your transactions, end of. But I cant do anything if I don’t know about it.
NotAmused we should be friends!!! Because Foxes obviously is the biggest lying cheating troll here.
Shame upon him who thinks evil upon it. 😉
Waits to see Foxes reply to ripping people off in another gacha event. Starting to see a trend.
MMhh…the first Notice (Please do not play birdy machine at the arcade til its fixed its missing from machine Foxes – Woodland Wonderland – Full White Set [box] RARE from all sizes except L)about the missing rare was going out on 2014/12/01 at 16:29 UK time… and the creators were informed at that moment.
Mistakes happens, lag happens…but how its being solved..erm nope…
The kicked creator could have been a victim of lag too…
I remember a friend told me about the PiratesGacha where she pulled a wench dress (common)happily in the color she liked, but after opening it was the wrong color. She send out a NC to inform there is a wrong color in, the reply was like, yes we see there is a error, Thanks and bye.. no replacement nor money back… It wasn’t her mistake, it was yours.
And that is costumer service?.. I don’t wanna be mean, it’s just not okay.
Your rage tears and full blown capslock, taste like candy ♥
But no, if you aren’t set up by 11:59PM, then yes, I’m sorry, you are out. Lag not loading a vendor (one rare was in there), and the arcade alt giving us the okay after inspection and us going off and not realizing, is different than not being on time. That’s human error, and could happen to anyone. We were also set up days in advance. They do that by the way, they inspect the machine. It was a mess up, that we’ve taken care of.
But yes, god please more capslock. Sweet, sweet capslock. I needs more of your sweet troll rage, taste so good. ♥
Foxes are you really fucking implying that some of these other creators who got booted are less than you. If you are your a dumb fucking bitch that can’t see past her own ass. Your shit is crap to if you want to know the truth. One person was SET UP and didn’t have there machine activated and got booted. YOUR MACHINE IS BLATANTLY RIPPING PEOPLE OFF. ACCORDING OT THE VAUNTED RULES OF THE ARCADE YOU WEREN’T SET UP EITHER. KEEP KISSING THERE ASS WE NOW SEE WHY
Anyway point is, sorry sl bugged out, if you are one of the people effected we are glad to help, just contact the store resident. Since two people own the store, we have one alt just to make life easier so nothing slips through the cracks (though i mean it does, clearly because hey! mistake already happened or we wouldn’t be here). Otherwise feel free to call for our heads or whatever via arcade resident, your choice. Two venues that would be more constructive than spitting venom here. Again, we are still in arcade because we were set up on time, human error = missing the second rare in the machine. We loaded that bad boy up at like 6am? I guess? my time? UK time i guess was noon ish for her. No sleep. All we really can do going forward is fix the issue. Indigo, get a hug.
Our machine was set up, the large had the white dress, we set up the 25th. We’re not sure what happened or why but the other sizes didn’t load for just one item. So today we’ve sent out the fix to customers. Things like this do happen, the sim is pretty laggy in general, even w/o people on it. We arent the first and wont be the last to have machine hiccups. The difference though is, people who don’t get to stay are the ones who don’t set up until last minute and miss the mark. For those wondering, we get invited 3 months in advance. Plenty of time to be done. See you next round ♥
There it is folks in black and white finally evidence that rules ARE only selectively enforced. All the items were not in the machine as advertised on event set up. But this little special snowflake who is soo keen to share how her products are *quality* hasn’t been removed. You broke the rules. Are you implying the creators who were removed were not?
Wait WTF. If all your sizes weren’t in that means your machine wasn’t set up using the organizers logic. How the fuck are you still in the event?
P.s. we’re still there because we work our asses off to bring quality products to a quality event. I didn’t know about the problem until I was told by a third party at 1 am. Had someone bothered to say anything to more than one of the creators, it would have been remedied hours prior. But they didn’t, so here we are. All we could do is go forward. But mistakes DO happen, on top of that we have never brought anything short of our best. The event is a good one, I don’t understand why people are salty, they’ve gone out of their way to fix issues for everyone. Free gifts for customers, designers no longer pick rare chances, everyone in the designer group is treated equally, rules wise. Yet every round people still get salty, it’s beyond me. Also! There was a rare, the kitten rare was in all of them, the dress for whatever reason didn’t load in. So a rare WAS available. I don’t know what happened. But if you were one of the people who had trouble, just make a note card, send it to AlchemyBirdyStaff, post your transactions in it (or screen cap which ever is easier), and we’ll get to you after we finish with the others. We have a bit of a queue going because its a lot of ncs to go through but we will get to everyone.
Its been fixed since 3 this morning, it wasn’t intentional either, we’ve also been helping customers all day to remedy the issue. Try again though. It’s called good customer service. Mistakes happen.
There is a major difference between upholding the rules and just using the rules as an accuse to obtain whatever it is you are seeking. I personally believe in hard deadlines and and upholding the rules in order to have a well managed event. If the organizers are loose with enforcing the rules, you will see half the designers be late with their products after event has opened and all you see is “coming soon signs”.
HOWEVER …..there is a major difference between not meeting the deadline vs not having a button clicked 3 days before the start of an event. Kicking a designer who has put in ridiculous amount of time and has everything set up and ready to go all because the red button wasn’t pushed is really an excuse to kick someone and get a friend in. There is no 2ways about it, that’s not even ruling with an iron fist, that’s flat out an excuse to kick someone out to make room for someone else.
As far as other accusations go, until there is actual proof via screenshots it’s all a gossip. However there is no denying that there is a lot of favoritism happening with the Arcade. Just look at the quality of some of the work there, some are so bad that there is no denying the fact they only got in because they know someone or are friends with someone related to the Arcade. If there is favoritism applied to get friends in, how far fetched is it truly for favoritism to be applied to certain vendors and their scripts?
Again until there is proof it’s just a rumor, but taking into consideration the whole situation, I would be more surprised if the rumors are NOT true.
Keep kissing ass to the arcade owners Lemon your good at it.
It has been my experience if you assume things about people only to use the assumptions to cast negative aspersions on them, it will only make you look the fool. People make that mistake all of the time. If you make assumptions based on rumors it’s just as bad. I see people here say “oh she/he seems like such a nice person because … (they spam nicety posts)” or “they are corrupt bitches because…(someone else’s rant they read but have no proof)”. We all try to make the best first impressions we can so people will (at least until they get to know us), believe we are that first impression. If you don’t take the time to personally know a person and find out what type of person they really are then odds are they aren’t the type of person you thought they were.
If I could make one wish for you all (and please don’t mistake my making “wishes” on your behalf to mean I’m a nice person because you might be wrong) it would be that you all take the time to get the know people before you assume they are naughty or nice.
Ok fair enough but I know the scripts have been fucked with and I am asking for the screenshot to go public. I hope the creators who have it don’t wimp out.
Reading the rest of this I am still mad at the Arcade organization I think they deserve a big kick up the ass. But what I have seen is the creators who left be it on their plurk or in world group have been very professional over it. My estimation of them has gone up and I have been buying their items to support them.
So what have we learned today.
1. There a high probability the scripts are different for certain creators.
2. Katharine McGinnis doesn’t have an ounce of compassion or morality (and makes shitty rip off content).
3. The Organizers of the Arcade are unethical and are not refunding fees to those they exclude from the event and double charge.
So in summary I am also out from supporting the cash cow. And here’s the thing now knowing the organizers are ethically challenged there will be more skeletons in the closet. I am sure they will be aired eventually from IP Infringement through to other issues. When a person is dishonest it is on many fronts. I certainly will be devoting some time inspecting the content including Tarte and posting examples of their ethics.
First of all it isn’t true that I don’t stand up to creators who practice shady business, I was not shy to hammer Ionic for removing their items from gacha machines for sale after events, which I think they have pretty much stopped doing now. But that was something I knew of with out a doubt in my mind and the proof was right in their store. What I do know about the Arcade scripts from the only person I actually really know who creates for the Arcade is that she isn’t able to modify the scripts in the Arcade machine to benefit herself or anyone else. The scripts in the machines are ‘no mod’ for the creators using them. At this point the dodgy scripts have not been proven anywhere that I have seen and it is all accusations. As for people being asked to leave I don’t know why or what happened but I do know they have very strict rules and no one is exempt which seems to make the practice fair.
How do you know that and who are they?
I would like to point out that the poster Lemon has ties to someone in the arcade who is currently renting on a sim with some of the “in crowd creators.”
Haha moaning. Nice try to excuse bad behavior Lemon. I guess in your books you are welcome to support unethical events. Reflection on you, not us.
Two things.
1. Lemon is a reflection of most consumers in SL especially those in the fashion community. Even if we knew without a doubt with proof that the accusations of a dodgy gatcha script were true. People like Lemon would still happily hand over their lindens. Thats just who they are.
2. As far as the issue of kicking people out when they aren’t set up at the deadline. It may seem harsh at first but consider how many events you go to now. On opening day you have several who haven’t set up. You never see that with the arcade. So what if xyz person forgot to activate their machine. Now the organizers have to track down the store owner and get them to activate their machine. How long will that take? Everyone is on different time zones. Its more efficient (though perhaps not compassionate) to kick them and put someone else in that can get the job done.
I really wish they would adopt the same hard nose policy when it comes to Collabor88 also.
So what everyone should have learned here today is…. If you like the arcade have fun. if you don’t like the arcade don’t go. Really quiet simple. But moaning about it here isn’t going to stop any of us who enjoy the arcade from going 🙂
December 1st, when all the complaining and bitching about Arcade begins. “Oh, I spent X amount and didn’t get a rare”, “oh, did you see that rare marked up to X amount at the yard sale”. “Oh, Arcade is rigged”, “Oh, blah blah blah”
You people need some fresh air. Take a walk, spend some time with your kids, take a bath you nasty blokes who sit on SL 18 hours a day.
I hope the subpar creators enjoy the $$$ because I know several people who are no longer purchasing the products they make.
I suspect you haven’t done many high end pressurized events Lourdes? Or if you have perhaps our opinions just differ as I am quite soft hearted. I personally believe a genuine event manager, is guided by ethics and applying strong decision making based on the merits of the problem at hand. Without that, the organizers are truly just sitting there with a big stick and a wicked grin. Weeks of work, perms to check, scripts to align, animations to check on multiple products then loading to a machine doing all the settings, remembering to set price and store details. I have done similar events myself in a lag fest with all the other creators there trying to do the same. It’s entirely reasonable to expect a tiny percentage of genuine errors in that situation and if therefore reasonable the organizers perhaps could consider a revision for future event to allow for it to be checked on walk through. And as there is a very generous 3 days between set up and open, with 1 day being fully devoted to “staff walk through” minor errors should be ethically dealt with (being late is late, those people should be out). If not, please tell me what the fricking staff are doing in that whole day of a walk through? Admiring the view, cutting their toenails? Perhaps taking pretty pictures with photoshop filters with vector cut out artwork. Who knows, but clearly it’s not what creators and the actual event deserves after paying the fee they do. A minor error like not pressing activate even when you think you have, or seeing things “jump back” when you move them around due to latency etc is incredibly disappointing and I have once had to activate a gacha on another event 3 times and after… Read more »
Don’t get me wrong I have sympathy for those that did not meet the deadline for whatever reason. I can only imagine how much it sucks. However, my point is that the rules were applied fairly.
There are times to be soft hearted and compassionate and times when business is business. I believe as an event manager in order to meet your goals you have to apply the rules fairly for all. That means you will come off as an uncaring bitch when you have to enforce the rules. The ultimate result is don’t see the arcade opening with machines saying “running late sorry”.
As consumers in SL we complain when we go to an event and we see so many booths with vendors that aren’t ready. Now you guys are complaining when an event is hard nosed to avoid that situation. You can’t have it both ways.
The only “crime” of the arcade organizers is not being “soft hearted and compassionate”. Since when it is small minded to run a business, establish rules and stick to them?
As far as the quality of the content, those vendors with what you have deemed subpar content are racking in the $$$ all the same. That is what its all about.
No it is different.
Events like collabor88 where Barnes worth or Cory are late and sometimes are don’t enforce rules it is why I no longer bother going.
Arcade does. However there is a massive difference in not having a machine activated to not have the items on site. The difference is an error not tardyness.
On genuine error they can afford to put in the rules on walk through day as long as products are all set up but there is a minor machine error there will be a small time window 3 days before the event to resolve. Or even sell fricking insurance pay an extra 1000 l to have your machine checked and if activation error found that gives you the right to activate it within the first hour of walk through or something.
That’s the point here the creators were not late the work was loaded to machines.
It is the store owners responsibility to make sure the items are in the machine and the machine is ready for sale. It doesn’t matter if your items are in the machine. If its not activated its not ready; therefore you were not set up on time therefore you are tardy.
But it doesn’t matter if we agree or not. The rules state the machine has to be active and ready for sale at the designated time. The store owners know the rules. There is nothing unethical about strictly sticking to the rules.
Now the gatcha script thing, thats another story. But considering no proof is forthcoming. I call BS and we can move on from that topic.
I differ to your opinion.
Creator pays 5000 to event organizer.
Event organizer knows 3 days before open there are 5 machines with products but names not lit up.
Event organizer already has a day put aside in schedule for walkthroughs.
Organizer takes 30 secs sends group notice names machines with the issue and gives them 12 hours to resolve.
If they don’t they are out.
Effort less than one hour.
Integrity maintained.
Otherwise what is that one day for walkthroughs ? Why even bother having it.
Integrity…
1. Store owner pays knowing that if the aren’t set up by xyz time and date they will be kick and their entry free forfeit.
2. Store owners knows from the beginning months in advance that they have to be set up by xyz time.
3. Store owner knows that if they fail to meet the deadline they will be kicked and they won’t get their $5k back.
Store owner doesn’t meet the deadline. Is kicked. The rules were transparent. No integrity lost. If they make an exception for a few they have to make it for all.
Your way of thinking is why we have so many events with vendors setting up late. No respect for deadlines. But you kick them out and fuck with their cash flow, they get the picture real fast.
Without any real proof that the scripts are scamming people these are all just speculations and rumor. You people claim their is photographic proof and plurks on this… if so then share the damn links so everyone can know the FACTS not just your thoughts.
Fact is… The Arcade has cute things (Yes you 8f8, Tres Blah, Dustbunny, MishMish…. Ispachi, Zaara LOVE) and as long as The Arcade continues to have cute stuff, I am going to likely continue to shop there and buy from the vendors that I like.
That said, I do think the majority of The Arcade is a bunch of lazy crap this round. (Talking to you Commoner, we are sick of the monogram crap! And you Flowey with the lame bed and wood block cut outs that took 2 seconds to make, what a rip off… and lets not forget Half Deers sheep for the THIRD time… and Intrigue Co. who has released the same beanie babie rip offs for too many times to count. Noodles…disappointed, again more book ends… sighs)
You guys have MONTHS to work on creating items… we can tell those who just slap something together in a few hours like your cheap vector cut out blocks and photo prop masks… and we can tell those who have put time, effort and creativity into coming up with new, unique items each round. I support the designers who make amazing products and laugh at those of you who keep making the same, tired, regurgitated crap! If you’re going to enter an event like The Arcade, put some pride into your work because there are a lot of designers out there who would kill to be in your place.
I think they have six weeks to work on items as each round they rotate people so wait for a invite each time. Of course unless you are the organizer or there buds as they know it’s a sure thing so they have months.
Hi so the sheep are the same mesh as before. I inspected them and same UvMaps too. So isn’t that breaking the rules? I thought each round had to be unique.
Apart from that. I am somebody who shopped a LOT at the Arcade before this round. But after seeing how they treated some of the nicest and fair creators on the grid I am in the fuck that shit camp too.
If they show that level of contempt for people who paid them, I cant imagine what they think of us poor saps buying the organizers products. Well my linden may not be much but I will only now purchase from creators not affiliated with this event. No more Arcade. No more.
So very true. I agree with everything you said above. Intrigue, Commoner, Flowey are all lazy. They need to put some effort into there creations and get on with it. I will give Pizza some credit at least she tried to make something unique. There are a few other trash machines that could of gone as well. Kicking out people who were a few seconds or minutes late to put in shit like sleeping bags, some ugly wagon, more sheep we’ve seen over and over, and whatever else trash was added last minute was just a bad decision in general. You screwed some genuine creators in the process for this new trash from your buds.
No one is making anyone play gachas. None of you have guns to your heads. Don’t like it? Don’t play them. Some people will get rares. Some won’t. I’ve had plenty of issues with not getting a COMMON item but getting 4 of the rares. It happens. It’s, for all intents and purposes, gambling. You just always win something. As for people getting kicked due to not having their machines set properly, does it suck? Of course, and my heart breaks for people who lost their money. But I am not a creator and I am well aware of how they operate that event. One round they kicked one of their sponsors for not being ready on time (a chronic problem for that particular creator anyway). You know what though? There’s never a “coming soon” sign in front of one of the machines. All these events open with tons of MIA designers, and that’s really irritating. Especially if you spend time trying to TP in only to get there and discover your favorite designers aren’t set up yet. Again. I think the owners of The Arcade should consider being a bit more flexible, and allowing a creator who has all-but-completed the work to finish. But again, it’s their event, their rules and everyone knows they are hard asses who don’t have compassion about things like crashes. If I were a creator for that event (which I wouldn’t be, even if I were a creator, because of their policies) I would make absolutely freakin’ sure everything was 100% set and ready to go far in advance. I mean, they do have three months between rounds. It’s not like there isn’t time to prepare. Yes, life happens and sometimes delays and setbacks occur, and again when that’s the case, it’s a heartbreaker.… Read more »

whoever did this mockup of torley is just as much a bully AS ANYONE ELSE who uses Torley in any other way. Torley has Aspergers and is genuine and if you cant tell the difference then you really need to pull your head out of your ass. Neither you or anyone who abuses Torley’s kindness and downright joy are people that have any right to be riding any high horse.
I don’t think the machines are a scam/scripts are janky. cause I am not involved with the Arcade at all and have got rares on my first pull. It’s the luck of the draw, it’s not like when you play you’re not getting something, implying you should get what you want displays a blatant lack of understanding as to how gacha works. You are paying money to get a prize. If it’s what you want, hoo fucking rah, if not, play again if you want to. It’s not like there’s a death squad demanding you play the fucking gacha. To work out what your chances of winning a rare – go to the catalog on the Arcade site, the amount of items and rares is listed by the ad, then you have to do some math. Divide the number of rares by the total number or items, then multiply by 0.5 (half) then again by 100 to get a percentage, this is your chance of getting a single rare. I’m really glad they’re showing their old guard the boot for not being set up correctly, it’s on creators to make sure they’re set up on time and activated their scripts, and on them to make sure they’re not rushing to be ready for the Arcade, they knew it was coming, they can work on ti between other events, it’s not rocket science, it’s time management. If you’re the kind of creator who works best under pressure but didn’t manage to get done in time, that’s on you, not the event. Having said that, I do think they’re cliquish as fuck, they only seem to pick people they know, or people their friends know, and it shows because it’s the same shit in every Arcade round near enough., there are a… Read more »
It’s not that I have a lack of understanding about how a gatcha machine works and if you got a rare on your first pull then great! I have done on non Arcade gatchas and it’s the best! I know that you get something every pull but compared to other gatcha events, or even gatchas at main stores, the rate of rares I seem to personally get is incredibly low.
I can play a machine 5 or so times in other events and get a rare or even an ultra rare. This repeats with multiple machines from multiple creators. However at The Arcade I have put over 5K into a single 50L machine and never saw a single rare. This has happened from more than one creator too. As I said earlier I’ve gotten about 5 rares from The Arcade in entire time it’s been an event. Not one event, all the events they’ve ever had. It’s incredibly disheartening, especially when the main piece of the set is the rare.
There’s only so many commons I can trade, sell or even give away. I find myself deleting them because they just fill up my inventory. This is why I’m planning on giving up on The Arcade. I could go and end up with loads of commons and spend several thousand and still not get the ever elusive rares or I could go a yard sale, grab the commons I want, and forget that the rares even exist. I’ll still have all my cash to spend on other creators and events too.
You say you are not part of the Arcade but you seem to know which creators were ejected and why (oh and ignored they WERE set up on time nice moves). But anyway the maths is
5,000 x 100 (remember they sold some machines twice with no refunds) : – 625,000 Linden
50,000 x 3 – 4 (advertising) so this round – 150,000 Linden
775,000 Linden at rate of 248 Linden to USD
3,125 USD
Minus 3 months of sim tier 885 USD
Profit 2,240 USD
Effort for the organizers, well let’s break that down. One day to put up the catalog on line. One day to stand around on set up and let’s be generous one day effort for sending group notices and reminders.
AND all the organizers are making circa 2,500-3,000 USD per round from their machine on top of the above.
DING DING DING.
So stop bleating about “old guard” – the organizers of the Arcade dinged multiple genuine creators for not activating a machine that had the products already in it (one was time management which was Botanical and he freely admits it). This wasn’t sloppy time management it was genuine human error.
The Arcade machines are rigged.
When you spend 3k and more on one machine with 2 rares and 8 commons and still don’t get a rare I’d say it’s rigged alright.
I went once but never again after that.
you sir/ma’am are a idiot, you have no clue about gambling and odds
So after further investigation. We now have some shitty new set of cut outs from Flowy along with the same old basic shit bed we’ve seen from other designers. A shitty set of photo prop cut outs and abc things. No Mesh Skills for Commoner, we should feel sorry for him. A shitty wooden sled bed from Pizza. Another shit set of animals from Intrigue. Who really should try making something else because the animal thing is long past its prime. Tarte might be ok but her stuff isn’t great either cause at uber today the chair was way to damn big on the display model. So if this is what the arcade has to shop for I will gladly stay home an not support it anymore. Someone please buy these four some mesh lessons cause obviously they need them. That is why they have to game the system!
If people would stop buying the extruded signs, and the 4 rounds of Arcade overdue to make something new Plushies, maybe these creators would start making something new. People buy the junk, so they continue to make junk.
People still bother with The Arcade? I can’t remember the last round I went to. I just look on the blog and if there’s anything I want I pick it up for a discount at the yard sales. I don’t know why anyone would be surprised to find the machines are rigged. In gambling, the house always wins.
I have been to every Arcade event so far and I’ve managed to get less than a handful of rares from ALL the machines I’ve played.
I go to other gatcha events or stores with gatchas and I play a few times and ‘Oooo look a rare’.
Yet at the arcade I’m pumping thousands upon thousands of lindens into the machines and see little or no rares.
I’ve tried all times of the month too thinking maybe if I go at a quieter time with less people pumping the machine it might be better but it’s still the same thing over and over.
I don’t understand how I can manage to grab rares and even ultrarares from other gatcha events with just a handful of plays compared to spending thousands of lindens in machines at The Arcade and getting little or no rares. Something isn’t adding up and the more I hear about dodgy scripting at The Arcade the more inclined I am to believe it.
I’m thinking of skipping this round of The Arcade since commons I can grab at yard sales and it’ll save me wasting the thousands of lindens for rares I never seem to be able to get. Plus I won’t have to be filling up those yardsales with the endless doubles of commons I can’t swap, sell or even give away most times.
yeah I have noticed that too or plushies which are generic retopo’d models from artists like coolbruno. There are a few creators who I see who you can tell really have put a lot of effort in and it’s good value but if I see one shitty textured picture frame with a google ripped image purporting to be a gacha collection with over severe shading I will scream.
After reading today, and I found out it they kicked out about 5 creators all of who had finished their work and those were the only are the ones I would actually buy from who do decent and fair priced work so as a shopper and owner of a very large yard sale I am out too. I won’t be reselling a thing from the Arcade as I don’t want to be linked in anyway to people who fuck over creators and customers.
The Arcade needs to end. Total bunch of cunts.
Yeah, I noticed that too! I pumped over 1k at bcc and didn’t get one rare or the secret rare I wanted! Arcade team really should be ashamed for allowing certain ppl to manipulate the machines! Also why are there so many home decor items!? I am a homeless bum and have no use for rez items. Seems every round there is an increase in decor that all looks like the past rounds!
I would say to people perhaps lobby your favorite creators to say stop putting this stuff in Gacha’s with hidden scripts both you and I can’t trust. If you put them up at your mainstore for direct sale the 1st day of each quarter I will buy and support you. Or even if those creators in the Arcade set up a fair open committee and shared one joint sim and did it that way.
If the big and best creators all shunned the Arcade and did a coordinated release this way, this bullshit would stop. It would be better for us as consumers as we could buy what we wanted. Better for the creator as they would have more assured income directly and finally take the power away from the idiots on a power trip running the Arcade who are holding people over a barrel right now.
People are weak, it takes a lot to “boycott” even if you recognize something is wrong. But if creators could find a way to give us the same items but without the Arcade I think it would rebalance things once and for all. I hope some of the big creators can get together to talk about this. They hold the real power, they just don’t realize it.
The ONLY way I would ever trust the Arcade again is if they chucked out the current management team and found people with ethics to run it and things were more transparent and honest. And that’s not likely so I hope Linden Lab shut this scam down.
#2 – who?
Which friends are in the Circle of Friends that are screwing people. Name names and lets be done with it so people can boycott those machines. It will teach them to play fair or not.
Well this just saved me thousand of linden on those machines.
I suspect they mean these folks
Commoner
Flowey
Intrigue Co.
Pizza’s
Tarte (done a shit load of ip infringement too just check her textures from past collections I refuse to blog anything she makes)
And, it was more than Botanical who got screwed over with the machine activation. Katharine McGinnis was the one who kicked out all the creators despite having their work finished. I can’t imagine what it has done to them as I know a few of them were relying on the sales once confirmed in the event. Some of us who satellite work on the Arcade did not agree with this (and that is why you won’t see multiple people anymore on the blog list, we are boycotting it).
The original secret poster never said you couldn’t be proud of your kids or even share things on plurk about them. The reference is the excessive amount of plurking people do in regards to them. Seriously, a few a week is fine! But every 5 mins is kind of overkill I agree. Not to mention, I think it’s kind of unfair for people to share photos of kids on the internet with strangers. Once these photos go online they’re there forever pretty much. How do you know that your kids would even want their pictures being spread across the world without their permission. I personally am glad my parents didn’t have access to the internet when I was born. I would be horrified to google myself and have a billion baby photos and embarrassing images posted everywhere for anyone to see.
There’s a shit load of pervs on the net letalone SL which is a freaken haven for them. Why share pics of your kids in that environment.
Thank god someone else gets this. There are so many weirdo’s in the world, spamming pics of your kids online because you think they look ‘cute’ is just wrong. You don’t have your kids consent, so just stop. Last year someone on Plurk was caught sharing photos of a child that was supposedly their kid. They had made up an entire fantasy world back story about this supposed child that was theirs. That was until someone recognized the kid was a professional child model and contacted the real mother about it. The mother was mortified! But shocker, you put the pictures up online and anyone can use those images for anything they want. That is just one case. There are thousands more where people take images to use them for scam stories for donation pages and a whole bunch of other awful things. If you love your kids as much as you claim to people, protect their identity and stop spamming their photos in every place on the internet.
If you don’t want to see their children you can always defriend them. It is their children if they want to put the photos there they can though. Making catty rude secrets did nothing but make them want to share more so your tantrum did nothing.
I would not ever post pics of my kids to anyone in Second Life, that is just asking for trouble
Are you effing kidding me? People can’t post photos of their kids in their plurk? Get a fucking life or better yet, seeing as you don’t like it, delete them for your plurk. They are so much better off without your cuntself anyway. Photos of kids are cute and it’s amazing to see how proud each parent is on plurk.
Shame on you good parents parenting and showing pride in your kids!!!!
Dont you know you ate supposed to ignore your kids and scream at them to shut up when on voice or skype? Id rather see RL pictures then the same replurk of the same boring as fuck blog post picture or the same flickr link to the same tired SL product
So, you can’t be nice and you can’t be a proud mom and show off pics of your kids. Please enlighten us what exactly CAN we do??? You guys really should get out more. Your priorities are all messed up.
I see the somebody Lofty finally posted about the Arcade or Acunts. I think people are starting to realize that the Arcade is now so corrupt it’s a joke. They fuck with the scripts to assure certain creator friends give out less Rares so make more sales. They let those same friends in each round with crappy lame ass items. Yeah Flowery I am talking about your 5th grade level content and finally copyright infringement no problem guys the more the merrier. Somebody needs to set up a a more transparent event as we all are fed up with being ripped off by these guys.
Ugh Colleen you’re one of the biggest rip off merchants in SL, if the’res a buck in it you’re there. Christ just you charge an arm and a leg just to join your group, it’s of no surprise to me you’re invoved with this
I don’t care what kind of gripe you have with the arcade and while I do think it absolutely sucks that I lost my machine over it not being activated it’s really not that serious for me to sit down and take the time to make a damn secret. So indefinitely do not appreciate you trying to start something that isn’t there.
There was word going around in world there were LOTs of creators ejected for not having the machine activated but all their items finished. This is crazy. Why were the organizers so mean to the creators, that’s bullyboy tactics considering they no doubt were enjoying the fruits of the fees that creator paid.
Are the creators who were treated this badly by the Arcade releasing their items elsewhere? I am boycotting the Arcade forever more but will buy from any creator direct not in the event and spend more.
I spoke to one of the creators today who was still in tears over being ejected. And realized how horrible this situation is and how impacted people have been by this dreadful behavior especially those who were relying on that income at Christmas.
Shame on you Katharine McGinnis I will never EVER buy your products again. Any event you are in, I will also avoid like the plague. You are truly a horrible individual. Did you even consider for one second when playing “god of SL events” your actions are the difference between children having christmas gifts or a mother trying to find a third job to make ends meet? People confirmed in the event made plans based on income they would receive after all their hard work.
You had THREE days until event open, and a simple graceful few minutes of your PRECIOUS time would have resolved the issue and allowed them to activate the machines correctly.
I hope Karma comes to bite your ass and hard. You deserve it. You are the scrooge of SL! Nice one.
Where is this at on plurk please post links.
The reason Commoner is in is well they own part of the Arcade, so that’s a no brainer. For one, I won’t be shopping there as Botanical got kicked out for not having their machine activated (but items loaded into the machine so work finished) 3 days before event open. That kind of dickish behavior is way excessive considering they have a whole day for walk through. The 3 seconds it would have taken to kindly tell the creator “hey do you realize you forgot to activate but we see all your items are in there, so can you pop over the click the button please” would have spoke of a far more ethical and professional behavior. Rulz are rulz yes, but running a business also means considering the 5,000 L you got paid by the creator would be far more suited to sustaining the event. And if you want to call me on calling them unethical? Ask if any of the creators they kicked out for not having the machine activated but items finished got refunded their fees as their machines were taken by second creators who also then paid ANOTHER fee. Money spinning galore which we all realize now. The amount of work and effort all wasted thanks to some event coordinator acting like a jerk 3 days before event open. This is people’s income they are messing around with. And then SURPRISE SURPRISE another second set of wooden cut out (like seriously you just took a vector from google, extruded them and bam that’s an item you think we would want to buy) from Flowery gets in made in less than 12 hours expecting to sell for a thousand bucks (yeah they make that much and more) in place of the kicked out creator! If they really… Read more »
Def a bit of stigma now days being involved in the arcade event. It used to be a good event, not any more, it’s becoming a bit scandalous, the lid is about to blow.
The evidence was last round, one particular machine type the script was left modify. So a few creators (not in the friends circle) saw it and realized what was happening. Creators normally can’t see the scripts it is non modify so they have to trust the organizers are being honest (and I think now it is common knowledge they really are not). The creators who saw it didn’t tell the organizers but quietly didn’t reapply. Why they didn’t speak up was fear of retaliation. The Arcade controls a huge amount of content sales now, any creator seeing bad mouthing them would easily be ruined. It’s easy to tell who was involved as they aren’t in this round and highlighted to a few trusted creators that a scam is being run. For evidence I think asking some of those creators would yield it as screenshots exist. Also these guys now charge people 5,000 to be in the event so make with advertising a nice few thousand USD dollars a round (even after costs). It’s an easy way to scam money from people, while controlling content so keeping content creators hostage and consumers screwed. I know a letter has gone to Linden Lab on the script item asking them to investigate as if the scam is as bad as it appears, people buying at the Arcade are being truly defrauded, both the honest creators in the event who have scripts that are giving out different odds to the circle of friends, those outside who lose sales to the event all to a small group of people in the event as organizers and the crappy content ones who are only in due to their friendship littering the grid with sub par content. I am the CSR for one of the brands involved, so… Read more »
If there is a screenshot post it, otherwise its just unsubstantiated rumors.
Sounds like someone wore their tinfoil hat a bit too tight. j/s
Personally, I don’t know how alphabet stuff gets in round after round. (Commoner, I’m looking at you this time.) On the other hand, there are some great ones. Half-Deer keeps getting better. Wilds of Organica is always cool, and you never quite know what Rachel Breaker is going to come up with…
I’d really like to see evidence regarding the other allegations, though.
Yes they do, it’s a totally RIP, I don’t go anymore. There was even a certain house builder using a fake account on SLU to post about how hers got lots of rares. Fool, I knew it was her and so did others.+
I also know they change up the scripts during the course of the event, so you might go and get a rare or two and a few others and then they change it so it gives way less and people keep putting in the $L
Do they really? How’d you know?
Complete utter bollocks
