SLSecret: Week 321

10/19/2014 · Lourdes Denimore ·

Quick link to the 40 Comments

Before we delve into secrets…
• If you hook up with a crazy in SL, it is not our responsibility to help you deal with that. If it becomes a RL issue contact law enforcement.
• Trust no one. If you tell people your laundry they will air it for you.
• Secret submissions are anonymous. We don’t know if your crazy ex or your abuela submitted them.
• Make your secrets legible.
• Do not contact us just to threaten us, especially with e-lawyers. We’ve been doing this for 12+ years. You are not the first nor will you be the last.
• Lastly, if the material submitted here triggers you, please get help. If the materials submitted here make you suicidal please see the suicide hotline numbers posted. They are there to help.

Too funny #7 – coz what he claims in his profile is way different to his actual age so your secret is spot on. He’s rarely seen in sl now unless he’s desperate for a booty call with erm … ‘Wendy’

One was a well known cobbler but has since fallen under the pressure of Slink releases and other high end brands. The other is, dare I say it, appears to be his wannabe *understudy* lmao.

one or both of them shows up in secrets almost every week. they’ve been named and shamed in the past.

obviously they don’t give a fuck about what anyone thinks or secrets since they continue to do what they do.

I used to make a LOT of money at woodland, but because of her activity in the drama community you can definitely notice a massive decline in both traffic and profit.

It is also getting near Christmas, If you haven’t watched the news lately there has been a downturn in the real life economy which makes an impact whether you want to admit it or not in real life. People are spending less going into this holiday season as well. So Second Life, especially gachas will be effected. Frankly Halloween is not my favorite time of the year and I spend way less money in Oct than i do any other month.

Strange how Woodlands is dead but I made plenty of money this month from the event. Enough not to complain about it being dead. Sour grapes for the poor losers who keep making the secrets.

You must be one of the few who make original mesh or are good at texturing. The event is TOO big now. It’s not the arcade. There are too many vendors being allowed in, and the quality of the items bar is set so extremely low. I go there for one or two people and I leave. Plus the way she handles the event is wrong, and it was only fixed after she got called out on it. The event was better when it was being ran by Jayme. End of story.

On the contrary, I am yet another Woodland Designer and I do not create my own mesh. I do make high quality textures though. However if someone cannot do so, that is not Isa’s fault. For an event that supposedly dead, I wonder where all the lindens -I- made from the event last month came from? It was well over 20k. That’s a lot of dead event linden. 😉

Isa AND Jayme ran Woodland Together. It’s not the fact that There is So many vendors. I have Seen Some amazing designers Do a piss poor Shit Job on Some of their event items when I know they do an amazing job. I am a Designer who has been in it for months now and became a Mesh Designer for it. Alot of the designers out there are getting incredibly Lazy. This has NOTHING TO DO WITH ISA. It’s the Vendors you Should be yelling at and calling out on. They Need to get with the Times and step it up or it gives us proceeding our skills vendors more opportunity with money is how I see it. BLAME THE VENDORS not Isa.

Honestly I would like to know what the drama was about to begin with? I have no idea what it even started over. Not everyone was being treated fairly when Jayme ran it either. So no matter how you look at it everyone has an opinion on how something should be ran until they have to do the job themselves Those who complain constantly should just STFU and leave the event alone. No one is forcing a gun to anyone’s head to participate. No one is forcing anyone to sign up. Surely no one is forcing anyone to buy anything there either. The SL economy always slows down this time of year as well. The holiday season is upon us in the real world and people aren’t spending money like they normally do in second life.

same shit, different year. The same accusations where thrown around a couple of years ago when someone used the image on a shirt. Obviously, whoever wrote the secret, the dumb ass didn’t stop long enough from stuffing Cheetos down their throat to actually like, do some research to see that the image is free. Secret writer, put the Cheetos and orange drink down long enough to do some research.

Just a heads up for you, #12: http://adamcap.com/2011/05/19/history-of-joy-division-unknown-pleasures-album-art/

I don’t even know who you’re bitching about, but PSR B1919+21 probably holds any image copyright. It bears repeating that I am not a lawyer.

The apparent offender has directly taken the image from the Joy Division album cover (I do know the item referred to). The person writing the article you linked believed that PSR B1919+21 does not hold any copyright protection, but provides no concrete evidence to support such belief.

The album art, however, is likely to be copyright protected and would be unlikely to be owned by any Joy Division band member, but by Factory Records.

I think your link only goes to reinforce the message of the ‘bitcher’. Although they’re squarely pointing the finger, I doubt that the ‘infringer’ in question received any further clarity from Factory Records before using the artwork.

As we all know, Second Life is rife with infringement, with many event organizers now trying to do their bit to stamp it out. If you’re a creator and aren’t 100% sure of the copyright implications of using artwork that is not your own, don’t go there!

The Arcade had some Alot plushies.. the Alot character was created by Allie Brosh of Hyperbole and a Half. I don’t think the creator had her permission to use it. IP Rights are important and people shouldn’t just assume that it’s ok

While it might be interesting to a person working in IP law to discuss exactly how far down the rabbit hole we need to go with imitative artwork of a piece of artwork itself openly defined as imitative, this is all starting to sound like a scene in the second act of a never-produced film titled Infringeception.
As I am not employed by Factory Records (or the gentlemen credited with the production of said album cover) and am not a lawyer, I have no horse in this battle. Torley Linden brought something interesting up to me recently, on the topic of how DMCA stuff gets handled in SL: https://secondlife.com/corporate/dmca.php
It may help everybody get a handle on how DMCA works in SL (and in my understanding, in general First Life).
