Ok, so I think we all know who and where now and that idea just makes my skin crawl.

First and foremost Trigger was used to refer to something you pull. IE a gun. Later Roy Rogers named his Horse after the word. In the urban dictionary it refers to something that sets someone off. So in other words it’s slang. I shouldn’t have to police myself because of someones feeling about a Slang word. If you was actually referring to the word Rape I would agree. I hate the way that is used as a joke. Its never meant anything else then the horrific act it is. If a word is setting you off that badly I suggest you go get some help and heal your wounds. Thats from one Survivor to another.
#8 – Okay. When I first read it, I kind of agreed because when I see Trigger, I automatically think of something that could trigger a strong emotional reaction for people, not perfume. All of you who are making fun of that, have no idea what it’s like to unexpectedly be thrown for a loop because thoughts or feelings flooded your brain from someone talking about something that happened to them. The people who ARE nice enough to mention that a song or a forum post or something may have triggers in it are doing a general favor, so please don’t stop. But if people DO keep using the word trigger for things that aren’t actually triggers, the word will start to change meaning, become a joke, become unused and for some people one trigger is all it takes.
Just… read a dictionary. The word trigger refers to more than simply, “that song triggered my self harm”. It can refer to allergies and events and any number of other situations. Oh and let’s not forget trigger in the mechanical sense.
Are we really complaining about stores having sales now? They should never EVER discount one of their older products as a promotion all because a special snowflake bought that particular item at full price when it was first released and now she/he feels entitled for the rest eternity that the item they purchased shall always be sold at it’s regular price?

I wouldn’t be surprised if the person who made the secret last week bought that item with her welfare cheque anyway, they are usually the ones with the most ridiculous sense of entitlement.

I have to agree. Not all people in welfare are entitled, perhaps you need to step back and take a hard look at yourself. I am a single parent and yea, I get welfare (le gasp) I am incredibly grateful for the help. I also do not pull 1cent into second life. I learned a skill and create content in world. So before you assume all of us welfare queens are entitled to have everything handed to us you should shut up and say nothing. Cause God forbid life hands you some karma and you need help someday.

If you can’t afford a child, don’t have one. If you can’t afford a house, don’t buy one, if you can’t afford a pet (dog/cat/whatever the fuck else) don’t get one. If you can’t afford your cell phone bill, get rid of it. If you can’t afford to buy your smokes, quit. Only help the government should be using tax payer’s money for is life necessities in cases of emergency. Not using the money to pay life expenses of lazy dead weight people who use mental illness and whatever else as an excuse to sit on their ass and not work.

Uh…I don’t see where they said anything about cashing out from SL. Just that they create content and don’t put any money into SL. You don’t have to report in-world Lindens to the IRS. Lol.
The only skill you learned is how to make money under the table so you don’t have to report it to the welfare office. That is welfare fraud btw, but hey, at least you aren’t entitled.

“Nope.” – I think you missed the point of that secret. It was in response to another week where a customer complained that a store had used an old item at a discount event instead of making a new one. This week’s secret answered that it takes a lot of effort to make a new item and is basically defending their usage of an old item at the discount event.
The discount event in question was The Dressing Room apparently, which in my experience never has brand new items, at best they’re recolored or retextured and less than 60L. I’m not seeing where they say anything about not liking sales events in general.
You should moderate secrets based on grammar, spelling and coherency. This is embarrassing, honestly.

My comment was just a general statement towards the secret creators on their atrocious lack of concern for spelling, grammar and the like. It was not meant as a personal blow to you or this site. The errors in spelling detract from the meaning of the secret. It’s difficult to take anyone’s secret seriously when your focus is inadvertently shifted on the terrible writing. It shows a lack of intelligence when it comes to basic education. You’re on the internet. There are many places online to learn proper spelling, not to mention spellcheck itself. You don’t have to be perfect because some people do not speak English as their first language. Every week there is at least one secret that makes the entire Second Life and Plurk community look like a group of bassackward morons. Readers of SCD are already trying to decipher the secrets themselves. One shouldn’t have to try and decode poor spelling to determine the actual intent. However, I would also like to address your overall style of replying to people on SCD, Lourdes. Every week you confront commenters on here, as well as Plurk, as if you are some kind of sanctimonious internet warrior. You are belligerent, self aggrandizing and annoyingly pompous. You choose anger and belittling others instead of a well thought out retort. You would prefer to be argumentative rather than accept that there are differences of opinion. Unfortunately, you come off as completely irrational and not someone who is simply trying to express a differing view point or examine new/different information on the topic. You forget a lot of people are not from the US and do not speak english or english is not their first language. The intent is there you get what they are saying so what is the big deal?
Good God. just to clarify, I wasn’t questioning ‘re-patterned’ it gave me a giggle. It’s quite obvious that they intended to say re-partnered. I chalked it up to a spell-checker error.
Just letting everyone know re-patterned is a possible mistake a non-native speaker will make when saying re-partnered. It’s a common mistake for someone who speaks English but doesn’t write it often. At least in my experience as I taught some Mexican (literally from mexico) teenagers to write (and also help with their speaking) – they could talk pretty well for not being native speakers but couldn’t write to save their soul, they would sometimes make mistakes like this. That’s my experience, and YMMV.

As I said previously, not everyone submitting secrets are non-English speakers. I have also seen the same issues in the comments as well as Plurk. Many others in the past have also questioned or brought up the misspelling. Even in the SCD Plurk (as shown above on this page) there is a comment questioning a secret from this week.

While you are pretending to be a highly educated scholar who cannot comprehend lesser being who may not have perfect spelling or grammar, let me take this time to educate you on a little something called a world map. Believe it or not there are many countries that exists on this planet and *gasps* very few of them are English speaking nations.
This a multi-cultural, international forum, some people may not be as familiar as you when it comes to the English language. So keep that in mind.
I suggest you step out of your bubble and instead of reading the dictionary 24/7, get yourself a little more familiar with the world around you.
Lourdes on the other hand, is fully aware of what goes on in this world and is completely understanding of the language diversity that exists on this website. Unlike you she doesn’t need to use the English language to pretend to be educated. Her actions and decisions show that.

I also stated that no one expects everyone to be perfect, Everyone makes mistakes. However, “repatterned” is most likely not what the secret creator intended and the entire secret is confusing. Also, I further explained that this is an ongoing issue. It is week to week. Are there that many non-English speakers submitting secrets? I doubt that.
If you feel I am being superior in some way, that is simply how you took my reply.

2) In all your observation, analysis and wordiness, you missed one important detail that could have saved you time and energy in typing. I don’t give a fuck what you or most of the people here on secrets or plurk think about me. I did find your analysis entertaining. That is the only purpose you serve to me, providing entertainment. Of course the ending jab is to put someone down for using a feature of this site, and what SL Secrets are all about anyway. Secrets are submitted anonymously but here in the comments when we go against the (at least in her mind) powerful Lourdes and her special secret submitting button, suddenly we’re admonished for failing to use our real/SL/Plurk names.

Well, secret number 4 week 319, even if you spend weeks creating, it’s unfair to sell it for a price and drop it on a discount room later… IMO if you think 70 L$ is too low then why enter the event in first place? What you posted doesn’t even make sense because after the event you will sell for full price anyway.
Can’t make something new for the event… simple… don’t join it!
Whenever a shop sells something and then drop the price I stop buying with them, because I keep in my mind, oh, maybe later they will drop the price, so I won’t buy now. Not to mention it makes me feel ripped off (cents or not) to pay for something then find it is discounted after a week. I’m sure I’m not the only one. Not a lot to you but I could have bought something else with 200 L$ instead of being disappointed in the end.

Lol to each their own. I care about where I drop my money. IRL people make sales and promos but these usually are storewide or for lots of things, so I don’t really care. I felt disappointed because the exact product I bought went on sale after I bought. so I made a quick secret, then the seller decided to reply with a secret too… whatever.
I’m not buying from her shop again unless it has a sale somewhere, because now I know about her practices and I’ll be waiting for her older stuff to be released one day much cheaper.

I didn’t say they CAN’T have sales, and I’m OK with storewide sales. They do what they want, even drop prices at an event like this seller did. I just said it sucked to pay for something to find it at an event for much cheaper. It’s my opinion only. 🙂 Me as a business owner wouldn’t put something old for sale like this, because I’d lose customers with the same opinion as me – I’m always expecting “new releases” on events as well, I don’t like going to these only to see old stuff (AND for a small fraction of what I already paid). Most events require at least something new or exclusive for a while to attract customers.

Non of that addresses the fact that stores have sales. You can buy a pair of jeans on Monday and by Saturday the same jeans could be 50% off. It happens but you don't see people railing against RL stores because they had a sale.
Price adjustment?????? PRICE ADJUSTMENT on an item that cost 15cents????? Let’s not even get into the debate of how ridiculous that is and how much time/employee wages would cost to refund everyone 5 cents on price adjustments …let’s forget how dumb that is for a second.
IRL stores don’t offer price adjustments on items that are on sale already, they only honor a price adjustment on regular price items within it’s refund period. Because someone can return the item and re-buy it anyway if they didn’t. Now you are paying 25cents to 2 dollars for an item, FFS you want a price adjustment on the 30% sale???
If I was the store owner, i’d throw back the 15 cents in your cup, ban you from all my stores and tell you to fuck off.

Most RL stores will let you get an adjustment if the item you bought goes on sale within two weeks of purchase. They’ll refund you that money. Has that ever happened even once in SL?

What is the issue with using the word “trigger” when it comes to allergies. Mold TRIGGERS my allergies – meaning creates a chain of reactions within my body that is like getting shot in the HEAD!
Before the ‘tumblr’ generation came about, and EVERYTHING was a trigger, that word was commonly used in reference to allergies. Such as, “fragrance triggers my allergies”. Not everything is about rape.
There are also migraine triggers. So yeah as Kess has shown its not limited to rape and abuse.
