Curio and others, ruining legit fundraisers in SL since……forever!
I agree with Yep, when funds are raised out of the goodness of peoples hearts and not used as stated it ruins it for legit causes.

#16 – I completely agree. Woodlands has turned to absolute shit, and a lot of people know it. The owners lie to everyone’s faces, and the only reason it’s still around is because people are gacha crazy. As soon as a new gacha event comes along that either A) Adheres to the rules THEY THEMSELVES SET, B) Actually have and put to use a fair application process for designers, C) Isn’t stuck on the ‘friends only’ crowd of designers who get to skirt around the rules, Woodlands is going to fail out of existence. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve seen drop out of Woodlands, only to later tell someone countless reasons why it wasn’t worth being in the event anymore. I get it, it’s their event, they can do what they want, but people are dropping interest like flies because everyone is starting to see what it’s really become.
13 Is hilarious. A couple made in heaven…. He is a liar.. and so is she. She lied about her own RL mom… oh yah I know ALL about that, sweetie. Said she kicked you out… NOT TRUE. Heck most of the stuff I have heard from people, that you said about her, was lies. Blatant lies to make yourself the victim. Your own SL mom, who you live with now… does she know what really happened… or do you still do the ‘I was the victim!” act with her and everyone else? Jusden is probably one of the few left that would even give her a chance… and visa versa. Such a funny thing those 2…… smh.

As one of the people Jusden lied to, though not the one who made this secret as it’s about Jessika, not him and I have no issue with her… He is a liar and a cheat and he gets bored of who he’s with and rather than ending it like any other normal human being would do, he cheats until he finds someone ‘better’ then gets the girl to dump him so he’s the victim… Obviously he’s a great person. When there was one or two exes like me, it could have just been a coincidence, but now there’s close to a dozen, it’s obvious now. Liars will be liars and I feel badly for Jessika when he inevitably does it to her. But, she knows what’s going to happen, we all do. Bless his heart. 🙂

What are the fundraiser ones about? The Funky Junk Chick? Olive Girl? who?
Ever since the Gala Phoenix debacle I no longer give to these kinds of fundraisers. A huge effort and thousands and thousands of dollars given to that woman for legal fees and she spent it on herself. It was for legal fees that she never needed. Never again
I donated to Gala because I wanted justice. I wanted her to fight… she had everything to win. A lot of us united for that purpose, with the hope that original creators would still feel safe around sl. But look what happened, who knows what she did with that money and the damn skin thief is still around with no punishment at all.
How much legal fighting do you think can be done with $20,000 ? You got about $20K worth with the Curio situation.

No she didn’t use all the money for legal. But a good chunk of it did go toward legal fees. I don’t know what you people expect. What? A episode of Perry Mason? Most legal battles get very little court time. Its all filling this and that which costs money, making motions and sending paper back and forth.
Either way it goes if she had gone to court, the little $20k that was raised by the community would not have gotten her to that point. She would have needed more like $200K.
I’m all for calling out fraudulent fundraisers but the Gala situation was not fraud.
That is the point there wasn’t any legal fighting, she did not use all the money for legal by her own admission. People justified it by saying “oh well, she had to live and pay bills” fuck that, go get a real job or 3, like everyone else does, donate the money back into SL charity, it was touted as desperatly need to to pay LEGAL bills.
Yup…6 and 15 are about Ulaa. Are you people surprised? How do you know her mom is even sick? Conveniently she now has money to rebuild computer parts, and go to the renaissance fair. Just waiting for her to share that she’s having surgery to get the extra flab removed. And, whose dime was that surgery on? The taxpayers?
Here’s some advice – stop giving your money away to liars! She needs to stop hiding behind a computer screen, go outside, and start focusing on her son with special needs.

Apparently helping someone out in SL doesn’t have the same curtesy. When someone is having funds raised for them, they tend to plan ahead and make arrangements and deadlines before the money is paid in full. Not only that, but she should have been making arrangements AS the funds came in and updated the donors frequently rather than painting this picture that all the money is just sitting there or being used for her own personal gain. The school should have been notified before hand so that she could take her son out already. If the absences were an issue, she should have accounted for that already. I’m sorry, but if my child had one chance to see his Grandmother, I wouldn’t be so concerned about the school system. That is a LOT of days to miss, and maybe those days should have been better planned out. What has to be realized is that this woman turned to the anonymity of strangers. Of course people who don’t know this woman are going to wonder where their money went and what’s to show for their donations. There is a process to this sort of thing and if it were as much of an emergency as she put on, the process would not have waited until the last minute to even begin. Computer parts are pretty expensive. One can’t expect strangers to pay up when the one asking for help obviously isn’t putting their entire heart into their cause.
I don’t know jack about the ULAA issue but YES rl charities HAVE to be transparent and anyone with enough desire can find out EXACTLY where their money is going to if they donate to a charity. The fact that folks raised money for a CERTAIN PURPOSE and it didn’t go to that is fraud plain and simple.
Tracy you really ARE a liar, LL do not ask for tax details when you cash out. Not unless your a business earning and cashing out substantial and regular amounts. So liar liar pants on fire!
Who the fuck pays 2500 for domestic flights, that was the first sign right there she was ripping you all off, get a bus, hire a car..its easy to do this for WAAAAY under what she was asking.

I didn’t say anything about paying taxes. LL do ask for tax info though which delays a cashout.
I have no money – I went to arcade. I spent about 1000L’s that I earned IN SL. That would have gotten me a bottle of milk in RL.

I’ll make sure a memo goes out letting everyone know that until they have a few grand in savings they should do nothing but pay bills and buy enough gruel to survive on.

I knew about the gofundme. It didn’t raise enough to cover what she needed so I did the fundraiser to help get a little closer to the target.
For the record – I didn’t know Ulaa at that time. I organised the fundraiser after the fact.
As far as I was aware she had posted the gofundme on plurk and got a ton of drama over it, so didn’t post it any more. She had just over 1k on it when I saw it… hadn’t had a donation in weeks.
When I first told her about the fundraiser she wasn’t too sure about running it and was going to either try and work it out in RL or sadly, give up.
If you have to beg SL for an emergency trip to your mom’s, you shouldn’t HAVE any disposable income to spend on PC parts, or any ‘luxury’ items in the first place. She scammed SL. Shes another in a long list of people who have siphoned money from bleeding hearts.
Yeah, SL has been scammed enough times that it really should be wise to this kind of stuff by now. I suppose there’s always a fresh supply of noobs to prey on, though.

The fundraiser was just short of a month ago and ran for just under a week. Then I had to pass the funds over. Then she had to cash out which involved LL’s tax stuff.
So it’s been what? 2 weeks?
Shame on her for not already being on a plane.
The trip is still needed and is still happening.
If anybody had bothered to ask they would know that she is dealing with logistics right now. She’s had to do the tax stuff with SL, cash out, and now needs to work out when she can go and book flights. Time off work needs to be booked, taking kiddo out of school etc. And working out when her mum is well enough between treatments to actually be able to spend time with her grandson.
Nobody has said that the trip isn’t needed.
I think the issue is not the fact that she treated herself to something. The issue is that her emergency situation was just a few days ago, and to suddenly go from the story of “I want my son to have a chance to meet her grandmother at least once before she passes away” to sudden;y not needing the trip after the money was raised.
If the trip is no longer needed or circumstances have taken a sudden change, shouldn’t she be offering the money raised for the trip back? Not buying PC parts and arcade rares and making it public knowledge so soon after the incident?

She even put up a GoFundMe site that she still has up to lure in more ppl! :/ I am really disappointed and won’t ever donate to such a “cause” in SL again!

Ulaa is one of my friends. An actual REAL LIFE friend – not just some SL “friend”. I’ve visited her in person. I’ve been to her house. I’ve taken her out to lunch. I’ve hugged her and her son. I’ve cried with her over the phone about what is going on with her mom because I lost my own mother 13 years ago and it KILLS me to think that she may never get to go say goodbye or have her son meet his grandmother for the first time. I have known her for years and I’ve watched her deal with some of the roughest shit life can throw at a person and she just keeps moving forward, making progress, and refusing to let life beat her down. I watched her learn to build in SL and build her business up from nothing. I’ve watched her struggle with her son’s issues, her issues, and just life in general, and she keeps moving forward. This though? This shit here? This really takes the fucking cake. To all of you posting these petty mean SLecrets about my best friend and insulting her anonymously – Fuck. You. Fuck your petty, small-minded, mean-spirited, junior high actions. I hope someday Karma comes around and drops a world of hurt on you because this kind of behavior deserves that kind of retribution. If you are going to have opinions about someones life I sure as hell hope you are paying some of her bills. The money donated is sitting in paypal waiting to be spent on the trip. Apparently you do not have a child because if you did you would get its not as simple as dropping everything and going. There are truant laws in this country a child is allowed to miss 18 days of school. Any more they can be held back. And when he is a kid and already gets sick and things that are normal you tend to want to manage your given excused days for those days instead of him repeating a year because people on the internet would not let his mother wait till it was a good time to go. Also, if you haven’t been around someone going through chemo, you are lucky. THE LAST thing her mother is going to want to do is see her grandson maybe the only time he is going to get while vomiting and generally being sick and probably not so nice. I am very confident that in the end she will be posting pictures to show she went and you can sit over there and feel like the douche you are because she actually used her money that was given as a gift for what you intended it for.
