  1. Backdrop thing seems to be so over, peeps. I guess some here missed it Monday when the pocket gachas owners said they killed the script after hearing the super vocal complaints. Give em that at least and I think it was a good choice as I was totally not crazy about the idea. Lots o’ posts about it the last few days and they were I guess cool with realized they made a big ol whoops.

    • In other words Bogget, only talk about what you approve of. We have a right to even discuss the “backdrop” issue, as well as the disrespectful behavior of the creators too. Much of the discussion on that alone has been pretty good.

      If you want to discuss something else, create your own site. If you don’t like the discussions here, be the adult and leave the page. You don’t get to control everyone elses discussions.

      The who dated who thing, isn’t anything I ever get into.. but I’m not going to tell others who they can talk about and why. I just move over that part.

      The backdrop situation is important for customers and other creators to hear from.

        It can be as important as it wants to be.. But people are tired of hearing the exact same quotes and messages repeated..

        Don’t know how you call whats been happening a discussion.. All I see is people breaking friendships and fighting.. Posting lil memes.. It’s sad a platform causes so much heartache and issues..

        What would of been a good idea before every week of SL SECRETS becoming backdrop city is allowing the designers/creators putting out a sale tag for people to be able to purchase the backdrop if they wanted too.. Maybe then, it wouldn’t of caused so much drama and so many people splitting ways…

        Every one has a right for an opinion, and everyone has a right to discuss things.. But this is no discussion this is bashing once happened over and over again.. It also comes across as harassment, I am on no sides, and can see the cons with it and the pros with it ..

        So what ever you might think of me, I really couldn’t care less! I say it to the point, end of.. Don’t want an hour argument to say what I can say in one time.. ! ^.^

  3. I realize I’m coming into this “backdrop” discussion a couple weeks late. Been away from SL Secrets a while. However, the hoopla over this issue is insane! Seriously, people need to get a grip.

    As a creator myself, I find it simply amazing that ANY creator in SL would even THINK they have the right to dictate what someone does with a product they purchased. Once they’ve paid for it, it’s theirs. They can do whatever they please with it, and if that means setting it out so someone else can use it, then so be it! You sold a product, they bought the product, if they want to share it, sell it, burn it or piss on it, they have that right. You don’t get to dictate what someone does with something they’ve paid for..

    If you were to go to IKEA and purchase a couch, and then set that couch in your home, does IKEA then have the right to tell you that your guests are not allowed to sit on or photograph your couch? How stupid would that be? The reaction here is just as stupid. I do pose props from time to time. Sure, the mesh is purchased, but the poses are my own creation. Would I EVER, under any circumstances, tell a customer that they could not put that prop out on their own land for others to use? Even better – would I tell a photographer that they’re not allowed to put my poses into their pose stands for their clients’ use? Heck no! I’m not dumb enough to shoot myself in the foot that way. To even consider it would be ridiculous. The client didn’t purchase the pose, so they’re not allowed to use it? How stupid is that?

    I liken this issue to the whole full-perm, you can only sell this product for X lindens or higher because to do otherwise is to devalue my work mindset. If you value your work so much and you think it’s worth more, CHARGE MORE FOR IT. Then you’ll see just how valuable your customers think it is. Once that product is bought and paid for, you have zero right to tell anyone what they can and cannot do with it. It’s not yours any longer. It’s theirs.

    I purchase a lot of backdrops, and I do get many of them from gachas. However, if I bought one with that ridiculous derezzing script in it, you can rest assured it would be the LAST time that designer ever saw so much as a single linden from me. I do not view kindly anyone who would deliberately attempt to limit my enjoyment of anything I paid for – OR my ability to share it with whomever I please. (and no, I don’t mean giving it away to anyone who wants it so please don’t go there)

    • Yeah, it’s not going to go over well for the creators doing this. Many people use this on their scenery sims as part of that build.. not for photography. But they even want people to not use it for that either.

      It makes no sense for creators to act this way over backdrop usage, where it is, who can share it. The creator of the SIM has been banned from multiple stores and vendors so she/he can’t purchase from them. I want to now which creators they were, I already stopped buying them all together. I’ll probably stick with just Anxiety. I never buy gachas, whoever thought selling no copy items through a slot machine on chance was a great idea, needs decked with a sledgehammer. Horrible idea, I won’t buy a gacha backdrop.

      I’m working on my own backdrops atm, I’ll be making tons and giving them away for free or super cheap if I use any prefab parts (likely be a combo of my own stuff and premade parts) in spite of all the drama by other creators.

      • Oh, I love gachas, but I only play them if I like everything in them and don’t care what I get. I also do most of my photos on location somewhere in SL, so I often use backdrops, but I do own a lot of them.

        I think it’s ridiculous that the sim creator has been banned from stores and would be interested in knowing which stores they are, so I can be sure to avoid them.

      • Well, they do have a right to feel however they want. That doesn’t stop them from being wrong, however. I just find it highly amusing that I made a mistake in my post so that what came after didn’t make sense, I corrected my own post, and someone actually downvoted the correction. LOL

        You’re right, though. It does say a great deal about a person, and I’d be more than happy to discuss the issue with them in world. I’m not hiding. That’s my SL name there.

  4. All this SLHookerDrama gets so personal it overlooks the one factor killing all the ‘old school’ escort clubs. The SL sex industry is dying. It had it’s heyday and that time is over. There are far too many places that people can go and hook up for free and most people looking to masturbate to pixels don’t care who’s on the other side of the avatar. It’s been in decline for at least 4 years now, possibly longer. In time, they’ll all go down and some variation will pop up to replace them.

Shame because it was a lot of creators this round that I really love.. but I will show my lindy love at the next event they’re in – not on this crap hud. Someone else should really just make a Pocketgacha 2 and redo it without the stank ass attitude so I can spend my money on gachas without lag.

    • thank you for that suggestion about looking on Marketplace because I will NOT EVER use PocketGacha again with their close minded attitudes and please do not forget they are partners with Kraftwork where a lot of this started telling their bloggers they cannot use or support Backdrop City and to them to prove their point they stopped using bloggers wonder how that is going for them

  7. I own nearly every Backdrop out there, I don’t buy Gachas.. I don’t buy anything gacha because a no copy, ever.

    I still go to Backdrop City, even for the backdrops I have because I don’t feel like sorting through to remember which is what. I can use the gacha ones there, if I really wanted the gacha one even after, I would possibly buy it from the marketplace but I still dont like gachas.. they are scams honestly and with SL not reliable to keep in inventory or on a sim that might crash and forever it’s gone.

    If anyone uses this script in their backdrops, I won’t buy it. In fact, I’m probably just going to continue working on creating my own. I don’t want a backdrop with this annoying script in it… it’s totally ridiculous honestly.

    And what about those SIMs that use it as part of the scenery? They aren’t allowed? That’s going to be a killer to the backdrop creators to make even less money.

    Way to kill your own business… good luck with that. I’ll drop out of business with many creators, no problem there.

        The simplest way to measure actual success of a club is profit, particularly for one that’s been around for so long. And Bishes are very coy about their numbers. At one time, I truly believe that they were one of (if not the) biggest club in Second Life – however now, they’re a sad shell of what they used to be. I wasn’t joking when I said that anytime I end up in their region that it’s just busted-ass Juicy on-stage with zero tips.

        If you’re so confident that Bishes isn’t finished, you’d stand behind your numbers. What are they?

        Methinks they’re so low that everyone would laugh.

      • I’m not sure how you think Bishes has finished, people still come in and we make tips a plenty I’ll have you know and plenty of girls are there. Just because you’ve been in when Juicy is around doesn’t make her the only one, try coming in at different times and you may see a difference.

        I think the fact that out of all the clubs around Bishes is one of the oldest running and the fact it’s still open speaks quite frankly for itself.

      • Remember that time Juicy put her tipped board in the middle of the club floor but only for like 24 hours because one of her only clients had tipped 100k. The next day, she quickly put it away and hid it away from the world.
        Was that your first time earning 100k in a day, Juicy? Ashamed of your numbers before & after that?

Once upon a time, the recording industry felt so threatened by Napster that instead of realizing that people had been sharing and copying music via cassette tapes for decades before and trying to make CDs more appealing for purchase – they decided the best thing to do was to put DMCA protection on all CDs and MP3s legally bought.

    The DMCA protection made the CDs unable to be ‘ripped’ and the MP3s unable to be converted (many were in WMA form) or burned to a disc or played on an MP3 player. They thought this was an awesome idea to force people to buy the real product and prevent sharing. They actually thought paying customers would love being limited on what they could do with music they paid for while music pirates could burn all the discs they want, put their music on MP3s players, and were not restricted in any manner.

    That’s you, Pocket Gacha. That’s you thinking the paying customers will love all these restrictions and accept them just fine. You know what ultimately happened with the music industry? They crashed. They drove people to pirate just so they could have the freedom to use music they paid for the way they had before DMCA struck. Instead of offering incentives for buying CDs and MP3s, they put their time into “protection” that ruined them. Even hardcore music buyers like me started using services like Napster and Limewire just so I could make personal use MP3 discs and put my music on my computer for personal listening.

    Gonna repeat history? Good on you I suppose. Instead of offering a HUD with extras only the purchaser can make use of like special effects and such, you decided backdrop DMCA is better. I guess you can’t fix stupid.

      You could have made an effects HUD. The effects could have turned off after 2 hours of non-use. They could have only been controllable and selectable via that HUD which would not be transfer. Right there is an incentive to buy the backdrop to have control over the effects – to change them, combine them, etc. People will still share but you have rewarded those who bought it with an extra feature.

      But hey, you do you.

      • Once the recording industry realized “Oh crap, people don’t like DMCA stuff”, removed it, and started again selling DMCA free MP3s and CDs, it became extremely lucrative. In fact, once Amazon started offering DMCA free MP3s for as little as 99 cents a song – people started buying again. High quality MP3 that I’m free to do with as I please? Yes, worth paying for.

        So.. you kinda missed the point there, you berk. The reasons Napster and Limewire are now obsolete isn’t because DMCA protection worked, it’s because the recording industry realized it was garbage. The reason the music industry is thriving again is because they gave up on a limiting function no one wanted, not because they stuck with DMCA crap.

        If you think it would have continued to thrive with DMCA protection in an age where everyone wants to take their music on the go, on their phones, on their laptops, in the cloud etc etc and not be tied down to having to tote around CDs or only have that song on ONE device…. haha haha..sure.

        But the real point is…. restrictive protection doesn’t work and only punishes the paying customer, not the pirates or people who would use it for free. Always backfires.

    • Until all this started I supported PocketGacha now I have stopped using that hud, stopped buying from KraftWork and Astralia and will continue to boycott those that have this idiotic attitude am truly sad that the owner of Backdrop City is being basically shunned because OMG she is sharing items that she has spent a lot of Lindens on ~ is this truly what SL has come to shaming those that open their hearts to those that are not able to purchase backdrops ~ shame on those that feel they are so greedy !

      • They have all banned the BDC owner from their sims and vendors so they can’t buy anything from them anymore, none of these creators even said anything to her. Just send people to abuse anyone that entered the SIM

    Second, the backdrop drama llama. I like to leave my backdrops out for a while, especially if I’m building around them and adding to them, so this script kills that and irritates me to no end. People are gonna copy you, people are going to create sims with these backdrops, that’s all there is too it. I’ll still buy a good backdrop if I like it because face it, backdrop city can’t leave all the backdrops up all the freakin time. They have to shuffle them out and rotate what they have. So therefore if you really want a backdrop, you’re still going to buy it.

I’m gunna sit back and see how fast this “backdrop” thing goes into extinction along with many businesses. You should have stuck with gachas rather than trying to jump on some dumb bitches rant wagon. Backdrops being used for public use is no different than people buying them “photo studios” we all used years ago and putting them on sims for the public to use.     • Juicy has to be number 1? Well, that’s lucky, given she’s the only one that ever works in that dried up, old-news club. Goddamn, some of the vault players idling outside (in an effort for her club to appear busier) look better than her.

      Someone please have “the talk” with Juicy and tell her the dream is over. You tried your best, but it’s dead and it’s been decomposing in your stale club for years. You can all but smell it if you’re unlucky enough to accidentally teleport there (because there sure isn’t any real reason to go any more).

    • So Glad Juicy is finally getting what she deserves on social media, she’s a tyrant and bullies the very girls who bring her money. The girl was upset but they were still tipping so she tried to push through it but it was horrible to witness someone being humiliated by some idiots on a power trip while your boss lets it go because they are tipping.

      I had an issue with one of her pieces of furniture not working and asked her to fix it and she basically was super mad about being bothered and said if it’s broken just make the customer pay extra for a skybox or pay for it yourself out of your money. So, I’m suppose to sacrifice 200-300L because you can’t make sure your furniture works? She apparently didn’t like me early on but was enjoying how good I was at making her money until I grabbed the attention from her overly blow up doll-esque persona by acting like a fun, silly and confident sexy woman (shocking but guys respond VERY well to sex workers who act like human beings, there’s a reason the “girlfriend experience” is one of the most popular and lucrative forms of sex work). I think girls who want to be porn star barbies are absolutely fine but to insult someone by saying you not acting like a living blow up doll is unattractive is so ridiculous and also if I was so “unsexy” why at the time of being EJECTED and banned (without warning) did I have about 3 paying clients waiting for me to give them attention? Juicy doesn’t even remember who she fires as she has to clean out the ban list probably weekly due to how ban happy she is. This is ofc a virtual world but if you are trying to say you are running a business that makes RL income, act like it, act professional and kind and learn to handle your insecurities, take constructive criticism OR be like Juicy and have multiple people hate you and cheer as your income shrinks from SL because you use SL as a place to have a power trip over other ppl and make them feel like crap because you can.

        And the trolls that hang out there… Shits true. I was there when this man dressed all weird was drunk and cursing out a female. She was so nice. But as usual Juicy does nothing.

    • Who ever it was last week who was making the comments about all the faves Skippy Beresfords made needs to take a look at Clownie’s About page on his Flickr – considering the length of time he’s been on Flickr compared to Skippy his finger must be suffering from frigging rsi.

    • But he does not have 400 or 500 + to me Pete’s stream looks normal like 1000 other accounts on flickr. Sure posting copy paste comments sucks but people do what they want on Flickr and this will not change, and when they love to fav pic’s all day then it is what it is.

    • Or just have a bot go around and keep clicking the hud 24/7. This hud script is the dumbest idea I’ve heard in awhile and so easily circumvented in a dozen different ways.

    Seriously, fuck this piece of shit. I have a private homestead and rezzed my backdrops to just look at incase I need inspiration for a pic. This creator is a greedy piece of shit. I hope this fails, doesn’t catch on, and blows up miserably in his face.

    • It’s pretty cool, isn’t it? Fuck this. I usually leave mine up over night. It’ll be late, i’ll want to go to bed, but I’ll have the shot lined up for the morning when my head isn’t so hazy. Good job ruining that, you douchebag.

      • I’m in the same boat as you. I like leaving several backdrops up on my platform, for inspiration and have them ready when I want to take photos. I do NOT want to sit there and have to click someone’s stupid button though because their paranoia and greed got the best of them. I will be saving my L’s for other backdrop creators, who will NOT be using this craptastic script.
